I went Vegan over night myself I agree with this . I wish I would of taken it slower. The foods I had left that was not Vegan I gave away and donated to families. In the beginning I was a bit harsh and judgement but I have changed this way of thinking and I agree cutting out some meat and cheeses and eggs are better than not doing nothing. People have to go at their own pace. I've stop following what the TH-camrs say and just started doing what works best for me. It had gotten to be really stressful and over whelming because here I was thinking I had to do what every Vegan TH-camr said or I had to purchase this or that product. I also do my part for the animal and environment. I still use oil just not as much. I'm still learning and I don't beat myself up if I make a mistake. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
I'm not vegan but I'm open to eating and baking healthier. So I've been experimenting with different food approaches in a way that makes sense to me. I can't understand why people would give you hate bc you are by far one of the most welcoming vegans. I know people have strong opinions but to me that all or nothing mentality comes across as judgement. You're passionate about veganism but your not dogmatic about it. I think you do a great job of breaking down the how of vegan eating and lifestyle for anyone who is willing try. Keep it up Remy!
This video is amazing, Remy! I especially love and appreciate just how well thought out and informative it was in the nicest way possible. You didn’t come off as shoving veganism down our throats, but you didn’t sugar coat either. You were genuinely open and honest and have always been in your videos ♥️ I’m so happy I subscribed 🥰
You all probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Jax Cairo i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Ahh I love you so much! Also, Thank you for mentioning medication. I am vegan yet have to take specific supplements and medications that contain gelatin. I always try to be aware, yet this is something I cannot abandon without compromising my health.
If you would like to see if there is an alternative you may be able to contact and Ayurvedic practitioner or a herbalist who may be able to look at what you take and give an alternative that fits your diet and lifestyle.
Thank you for not being judgmental!!! Seriously, judgmental attitudes are such a toxic thing for the community. I’ll never be vegan, but beegan, yes. 🥳
Thank you so much for this video, talk! My name is Jane from 🇨🇦Canada and I have MS and like you I went Vegan🌱over night! I didn’t feel like I could go Vegan until my Service Dog crossed the Rainbow 🌈Bridge on Feb. 27 2020! I've just recently started watching your channel and I have to say: it's so uplifting and educational. While I'm still not 100% ready to go completely vegan, you've definitely inspired me to be more conscious of what I'm eating and to try to have vegan inspired days if not weeks. Thank you so much! ❤️
Literally the first time I’m hearing that it’s a privilege! Thank you so much! I want to incorporate little changes, that’s such a good suggestion. But I think I have to wait til I can afford it and once I can I’m looking forward to it. Gatekeeping is real and It’s intimidating to start but with the perspective and tips you’re putting out, this feels so encouraging and warm ✨ really appreciate it! 🤎🤎
I was watching your old videos and this popped up just in time!! (i literally binge watched your videos over the past 2 days hahhah) New vegan here so this is extremely helpful
No hate here, I still have a battle with that, so I don’t say I’m vegan. I do, similar to what you said, when I don’t know what to eat, I wind up eating bad. I just take it one day at a time with my eating choices. As for lifestyle, you’re so right, when I found out about the lip balm, I was like what 😱. It’s a lot to converting to a vegan lifestyle and when one does convert you really have to assess it as a whole. Plus, not to mention, it can be very expensive when resources are limited and you have use what you have available and honestly at times, that’s what makes some people fail in making right food choices. Just my opinion 😊. Great video 👍👏
Love the honesty in your videos and how you express yourself with such grace but to the point. And not everyone is going to agree with you 100% of the time. But I agree that we do have quite the privilege to be able to have so many sources of food to create the lifestyle we want 💛 Or to even implement ONE vegan/plant based meal in our day/week is a win xx
Finally a real and truthful video for new vegans. Budgets, allergies, time constraints are very real challenges for most vegans. This is why I follow @Veggiekins
thank you for this, I agree with everything, and I feel lucky and happy everyday to be part of a community that is so open, shares the same love for the planet, and the list goes on. been vegan for a year, never looking back.
Remy this video was great! I love your message and your lessons learned for people who are starting their journey. We need to do less gatekeeping and be more supportive of people who are taking steps toward the right direction, no matter the cause. Progress over perfection! Thanks for your videos 💚
i love that you don’t use the words “fake meat” and “real food” when talking about vegan versus non vegan food options!! i think it turns a lot of people away from veganism to use the terms “fake” or “not real” when talking about vegan alternatives and options compared to using “real” when talking about the non vegan versions/animal versions of those foods!!
I totally agree that we should absolutely be supportive and encouraging to those who are making an effort! One thing I miss like crazy every Winter is oden soup--but I have no idea how to veganize it! I'm really craving it especially now that its chilly here in NY. I feel like the soup-base is easy to veganize, but not the "fishcake" part. Any ideas? :) I would love to see more Japanese recipes with grandma!
Omg. Need to think about that one, I know exactly what you mean! I use a vegan dashi right now that has a great flavour for broth, but I'm wondering if you can make a fried tofu or pressed tofu and wrap it in nori to give it more fishy flavour... or maybe even mushrooms. HMM!
I love your attitude and your tips are super helpful and encouraging to help people transform their food and lifestyle choices. Your positivity really shine through keep up the amazing content!
have been 1 year vegan n still here, yeah for people just do about the eating first, for lifestyle i even just starting to change the vegan n cruelty free after about 9 month being vegan, n it's even step by step, from this to this to that, not immediately change everything . for something that i already buy before i tend to finish it until it's empty or expired then when i buy the new one i buy the vegan n cruelty free . also about eating vegan is really about the efforts, i mean someone that considering changing their diet or lifestyle to veganism is someone that probably have a reason, either it's health, environment or animal, and every reason need an effort even when you are not vegan, so being vegan is not easy but don't beat yourself that veganism is sooo hard either ❤️🌱
Thanks for this video!! I was vegan for a week and stopped because I felt like I ran out of things to eat or more so got bored of what I ate. And felt really bad afterwards. I'm really happy I tried it and I'm willing to give it a try again but slowly transition
Thank you so much for making this video! I feel like so much of the stigma around veganism is because of the restrictive and severe rules that many people push. Transitions and any sort of change is hard so being 100% cold tofu ;P is hard and trying is so much better than doing nothing. I personally believe that if everyone on the planet was trying to eat more plant based when they feel it is right, that would make so much more of an impact that the small percentage of extreme vegans that feel the need to make it a negative thing.
I started baking bread with chick peas and some herbs + sasame seeds..very good.. When i was young Vegan meant eating raw veggies only as opposed to vegetarian..When the harvest came in living on a farm those raw veggies were fabulous... Why the "transition" ? You might get an erge..
Such a loving, genuine video. Thank you 😊 Genuine question: I appreciate comments about how veganism can be better for the environment, but I don't understand where that comes from in regards to things like not using wool. Wool is naturally made and doesn't hurt the sheep to be removed; but swapping it for something non-animal based usually involves plastic or something less sustainable. Microplastics from polyester etc breaking down is so harmful to our planet. Also I've read ingredient lists for vegan "meats" and there are so many additives that it really doesn't seem that healthy for our bodies rather than less-processed food. Interested to know your thoughts on this stuff. Thank you :)
Completely agree with you on everyone’s challenges! I’ve been trying to get my family to transition to a vegan diet for a year already. It’s tough for my 5 year old having a peanut and tree nut allergy, dairy sensitivity (which benefits us going vegan), gluten sensitivities, picky eater syndrome lol my 2 year old fortunately only has the picky eater syndrome. We are at least down to only eating animal products 2-3 times a week.. I’m continuously learning to navigate around my kids.
Love that!! Absolutely understand that with a sister who's allergic to literally everything (even some fruits). Unfortunately it's just not easy for everyone but that sounds like a huge win!
So necessary to say, and so well said. I’ve been told I’m the “nicest vegan” just because I don’t judge and I acknowledge to people that it’s HARD to make any part of this transition. Why would I beat anybody over the head who hasn’t done this? That certainly wouldn’t be effective. And, I’m married to a non-vegan, why would I want to mess that up?
I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!! For me personally time and budgets the HUGE factors, being a college student it's not really easy to access a lot of vegan alternatives as they are much more expensive than the non vegan counterpart's. I consider myself vegan as in I have a vegan lifestyle, but I don't strictly stick to a vegan diet. I have a vegetarian diet (as a lot of people in India)
Don’t feel bad, just do your best! The fact that you’re even remotely interested in veganism, or aware of some of the positive benefits is huge as is! ❣️
Fantastic video thank you! I have a nut allergy and always have trouble with substitutes. Do you mind linking some of the nut friendly bloggers you know about?! That would be so helpful... thank you 😊
I don't know many besides Jane because I love and eat nuts frequently but just do a quick search like vegan + nut free, or even #nutfreevegan on instagram and you'll find plenty!
I remember when I began ensuring my makeup and beauty routine was cruelty free and vegan I was doing a lot of ingredient research and finding that squalene (which was in so many of my old products) is harvested from shark liver I was shocked! Not only did it make me want to continue to educate myself but my friends as well because you’re right, most people just don’t know what things are. I think if they did they would be more conscious consumers ❤️
I agree with everything you said. veganism is about doing the best we can and when people gatekeep it, it makes veganism are hard to approach for non vegans.
So toxic. It's one thing to have a differing opinion and be able to deliver it with tact and respectful communication and another to just be an asshole lol.
In my opinion, buying a thrifted non vegan product doesnt contribute to animal cruelty or exploitation. Besides it is environment friendly option to reuse such products. But it all depends on how you feel about this like if you do not want to promote wearing animal driven products or you are okay with it considering it as environment friendly. Only you have the answer to your question. Give yourself time.
Gittemary and Shelbizlee have some great blogs and videos on this! As well as The Fairly Local Family / The Fairly Local Life. I take their approaches, and I think it’s the most realistic and actually environmentally friendly.
Also remember that if you owned something, you can still own it, even if it was sadly made with animal products. I bought my car (with leather interior) before I began my journey and I still own that car. I won’t be purchasing a leather car in the future but I’m still using what I already own
I definitely disagree with a lot of her approach but I’m so over everyone bringing her up constantly. It only gives her more exposure and it’s especially incessant on tiktok! 😂 my two cents
Nobody told me how bland the food is. I've heard it all. Whole foods, lots of fresh fruit, veg and herbs, trying a wide variety of cuisines. I follow most vegan channels. My soul is being sucked out. Every recipe is so "average at best" I struggle to convince myself to eat. I can't even eat my favourite recipes, because the vegan versions suck. I am glad to be helping animals, but it really does suck. People always deny this. We clearly have different taste buds.
If you do that just be sure that you are drinking plenty of water so that you don’t dehydrate from the dehydrated food taking your liquids, also the dehydrated food can be used to make foods later like soups etc.
I think allowing for "imperfect" veganism opens the way for SOOO many more people. Often, people who start this transition end up going fully vegan eventually.
Unfortunately nowadays people use the term plant based to describe a diet with "a lot of plants" lol, so I don't use that to describe people anymore. I swear a few years ago plant based meant vegan, just not lifestyle 🤔
I went Vegan over night myself I agree with this . I wish I would of taken it slower. The foods I had left that was not Vegan I gave away and donated to families. I turned vegan cold turkey about 8 months ago and wish I new these things beforehand too. Thanks!
I'm so glad it resonated with you! Lots of judgment in the vegan world that totally thwarts the spread of a kind message
I'm not vegan but I'm open to eating and baking healthier. So I've been experimenting with different food approaches in a way that makes sense to me. I tell people they don't have to be 100% vegan. Reducing consumption helps the animals, environment, and personal health.
I totally agree!

Thank you for this guide! This is exactly what I needed for me to make the best of Veganuary, and to start transitioning to being vegan, full time!!
You're so welcome! Happy to help
Such a good video! I’ve been vegan for a year now and I’ve experienced so many of these pressures but I agree with you so much.
Ahh I love you so much! Also, Thank you for mentioning medication. I am vegan yet have to take specific supplements and medications that contain gelatin. I always try to be aware, yet this is something I cannot abandon without compromising my health.
nobody should think less, even you, of your contribution to a better planet because of medication. Don’t worry 💕

Thank you for not being judgmental!!! Seriously, judgmental attitudes are such a toxic thing for the community. I’ll never be vegan, but beegan, yes. 🥳
Don't thank me! It's the bare minimum. No one person in this world has any right to judge another (in my opinion). Love & light!

You can dehydrate and eat raw plant base diet.
So so agree! ♥️
Some breads are not vegan
Yup, I covered this in my grocery guide but most bread is vegan friendly.
I learned the hard way 😭
There is plant base diet and them their vegans
Unfortunately nowadays people use the term plant based to describe a diet with "a lot of plants" lol, so I don't use that to describe people anymore. I swear a few years ago plant based meant vegan, just not lifestyle 🤔
What I wish I knew before going vegan, I can't eat meat..
Vegans don't all need to believe in yoga, but it seems many do. Yoga is against my beliefs, because it involves ways if thinking I don't agree with.,,
To each their own! A yogic principle encourages vegetarianism (non violence/ahimsa) which is why there is a lot of relationship there.
