- Here we have four exciting stories from the old west, The first story is narrated by Steve Berwick and concerns the famous frontiersman Bigfoot Wallace and his amazing escape from ravenous wolves. The second account is Custer's description of two troopers, who paused at their camp-site for a moment to long, being carried off by warriors.
Our third episode is from trooper James Wilbur and he details his dangerous retreat at the battle of the Little Bighorn and our fourth story is about Chief Washakie and his warriors coming into conflict with Chief Big Robber and his Crow warriors who had disputed the Shoshone tribe claim to their hunting grounds. Wash - a -kee. A Shoshone woman corrected me on that. She was as nice, pleasant and respectful to me in the correction.
Thank you, as are you too, all the best
The grave of Big Foot Wallace is in the Texas State Cemetery, Austin.
The headstone inscription reads:
“here lies he who spent his manhood defending the homes of Texas. Brave, honest and faithful”
None could have a finer epitaph.
Excellent information, There will never be another one like him , thank you for sharing this, cheers
Really Appreciate Your Video , Thanks ! 🐯🤠
You're welcome, thank you
Love these stories of the old west. They were brutal times, but these people lived large.. I think we sometimes get tunnel vision of everything that was going on in the white man’s world east of the Mississippi when there was a history of dramatic events happening west of Mississippi. Great video.
Well said, thank you, cheers
Fantastic real life stories.🙏
👍cheers, thanks for watching, all the best
Love first person accounts!!! Thanks!!!! Looks like the wolves weren't having any luck finding deer either!
Thank you ! All the best 👍
What is the chemical he refers to that he believed attracted the wolves?
assafoetida, it is some type of herb, cheers
I wonder what year Mr Wallace got into the fight with the wolves as repeating arms would've made short work of those wolves. Also the naming of his rifle and knife showed a personal attachment to such items that saved his life and fed him many times. Great content sir.
Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words, much appreciated, cheers
