    Late to the game here. I purchased a NS872 last year and the pull start rewind failed on the third start. Tried to repair but gave up. A piece of the flywheel cover casting broke off. And it stopped oiling. Finally ordered an 038 aftermarket rewind and looked into the oil issue. What happened is the suction channel between the oil tank and pump gasket was clogged with what appeared to be gasket debris. A few shots with brake clean and it was flowing good. I’m thinking it came from the case halves being joined on assembly. The floor of the intake port on the cylinder had a lot of casting flash and I could see where they used a center drill and drilled from the bore into the flash apparently to relieve it a bit as not to change port timing.
    I ended up porting it myself and made a .010” base gasket. Because the center drill mark was slightly into the bore, I used the Tree Monkey trick and expoxyed the intake and then free hand machined it with a Dremel leaving just thousandths above the opening into the cylinder to alter intake timing slightly. Opened up the exhaust, gutted the bird cage a bit and added a second side port on the muffler. This thing just screams now! Tuned for 32:1.
    Overall it’s decent for the price however sometimes you get what you pay for. If you’re savvy you can correct the Q/C issues.

    Which of the three is your favorite? And i mean if you had to pick one and not just picking by liking the bigger size saw. Which one runs the best and has thr best power to weight ratio and best cost to power ratio... taking all that into account which is your favorite?

    • @IndianaDoug
      @IndianaDoug  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question! Honestly it depends on the task. I have to say the 660 clone is what I use the most but I cut a lot of bigger wood like in the video. For general use firewood saw that could even tackle bigger stuff, just not as fast, the 038mag clone is ideal. The 070 clone is not very practical unless you mill, but man it is a freakin blast to run, I love that beast😆 hope this helps! Let me know what you end up with and how you like it!

    I really like the 660 clone. The skid plate is kinda cool. Can you get them separate from the saw?
    The 388 is also a really nice running saw.
    Don't care much for the 8105. The power to weigh ratio kinda sucks. They are kinda gutless for the amount of cc it has.

      @TheRoadhammer379 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Several other channels that use saws for a living have stated the same, neotec is better in quality, fit, and finish, even packaging. The Holzfforma/farmertec saws have some terrible reviews including split cylinder, engine seizure/failure, no compression and other issues. Granted, every company puts out a lemon but the overall opinion leans towards neotec as a much better brand.
