- Today I went out to Queensland raceway to ride in one of the worlds most insane builds. A Ford Falcon Barra Turbo engine in a Holden Bedford Van. Origionally a build on The Skid Factory, it was a honour to ride in #FknMillsi

It's a 1970,s van not 50,s it would be a Bedford CA van if it were fifties , here in the UK the biggest engine offered was a slanted over 2.3 litre 4 cylinder, loved watching the build at Al,s

Thanks heaps for filming!! Spewing we had the issues. I reckon you're correct about accidentally grabbing 3rd after flicking the anti lag. I do suffer from custardwristitis which probably doesn't help.
I chopped hard by the green Lambo so I guess that's payback from Powercruise. Would been a lot closer had I got a clean run but no doubt it's faster. The owner is a really nice guy and we had a good shit talk afterwards.

😁😁😁 i love the old Bedford cf 😎👌🏼 my dad built his one back in the late 1980's and to cut the long story short, he had to weld led blocks into the chassis to keep the ass on the deck and the only way for this was the blocks and not to use 1st gear 🤣, Now in 2020 i own a 1980's Bedford cf2. I watched the full Skid Factory build of the Bedford. It was a mammoth job with a lot of head scratching but The result is definitely worth it. I do like bedford vans though :)
I love the old Bedford vans, I had one with a 253 v8 years ago... would have preferred a Barra though. 👍🏼

Great footage! It’s far more brutal than i imagined while watching the build.
Might be 1 of the fastest vans around Aus but there was in the 90s a ex drag motor 454 in a E3000 van.
Plus 2 more in the UK,
1- Bedford with running gear out off XJ220.
2- Transit van with F1 Honda engine and box.
I'd guaranty there's a few vans in Japan that would leave all for dead.
Drag them all out for drag week, that would be mind blowing.

In Auckland in the '80's I had a ride in a white CF Jumbo, repowered with a 289 and two stage auto. And some kind of air assisted braking, serious stoppers to match the power
I used to drive one of these in the 80's it was a mini bus set up 6 cyl holden with floor shift 3 speed. used to cram about 10 of us in it. looked the same.

1969-1988 was the production years here in the UK for the cf Bedford, if it was a 50s it wouldn't hold a fart in

Something similar but different in NZ is at 1UZ-FE powered 1970 Commer van, it did a 10.99 on a 10.98 dial at Meremere this year.

Have you driven a stock Commer van? They have a narrow track at the front so they feel like they could just tip over without warning. Scary af lol

Not a 1950’s model .... the Bedford CF was introduced to the UK in 1969 with a slant four cylinder motor and the Holden had a six cylinder motor.
Just gotta love the barra..... Sure some sook about them but there is few relatively stock 6 in the world that will take what they do.....always wanted to supercharge my bf fairlane 6 just couldnt afford the ecu or tuneing

Struth ! ITs a van not a car!! also CF2 bedford was 80s version that model was 75 through 79ish then you also had the jumbo' holden brought these in from the UK and repowered with the holden 202 and trimatic and were sold to public was pretty common to see 253s 308s 350 chevs 327 chevs as well
You can clearly see by the badge on the rear radiator support towards the left that the bloke being asked the question about the birth year of this specimen has absolutely NFI 😂 ...but that quickly becomes irrelevant because at that moment he absolutely sells us the year “1950” and so now all of us, bar the purists, think we know a little bit more about this vehicle iconic for kidnapping and on the go tamperings 😂

p.s the bracing behind the drivers seat is so smart, as far as having LWB with that much power. Speed Fac did some super smart engineering here.

Almost got one my bro l use to bake bread with had one with a V6 Zephyr motor in his Bedford Van he pasted away and his girlfriend sold it for 800 bucks miss that ride l would put a 351 Windsor or a Lincoln 476 big block in the engine bay or go electric done

1950's? More like late 60's early 70's. These things were as common as Toyota Hiace's when I was a teenager in NZ in the early 80's. The design was very similar to a Chevrolet C-series van of the same era, so probably influenced by that GM connection.

I dont think so... I think some were modified and had a holden engine added, but not actually Holden

During 1950
Bedford was a truck , bus and van company.
While the it autisn , Vauxhall version car market.
The Bedford brand was then sold and stop trading by late 1970/1980.
But Vauxhall still sold cars.
