That's not really how the dccd system works, though. A common misconception. The manual modes are not changing the nominal 41-59 fr-rr torque split. But the nominal torque split is unchanged.

For the sti; Coil overs, a nice exhaust, front and rear swar bars and you got a great car. I just love the sti steering wheel, shifter and the gauges are so awesome.
I agree, the EVO is the yardstick, it is the measurement to beat. however between the steep entry price, the cheapness of plastics, and horrible gas milage.. I think an STI is a better car.. I used to own an older EVO 10 myself. early adopter, I now drive a GT-R. looking back without biased I can say if you want power, focus, sharpness, capabilities get EVO, if you want a car to take the president of your company to lunch in or date out to dinner in, get the Subby. or save up and get best of both worlds and get a GT-R, soft quiet and compliment, but also fast, harsh and quick. the GT-R also handles alot like an EVO in corners, apart from GT-R being little bigger and heavier when tossing her in and you can feel it, its same EVO concept, POWEEEER!
depends on a number of factors. getting it used, type of insurance and the type of policy and so on.. locally I have seen a used 2014 GT-R Nismo edition with 43,000 miles, one owner, no accident reported and extremely clean and cared for. $56,000 and this wasnt too long ago and it sold before I could buy it for my GF as a gift since she drives my GT-R more than her own car. but their are really good gems and steals out there..
Yeah ive always have that at the back of my head on my i bought this stupid evo..... But when i go up the mountain and be able to take sweeping curves at 75mph and how sharp it turns that itll make nauseated it always reminds me why i bought it
Down fall of both cars: Subaru: The early days of the Impreza were popular, in speed and price. Most car enthusiast or beginners drove it. After a while subaru made more generations of these cars, giving us more entertainment with the Impreza, BRZ and the forester. After a while subaru started to make these cars more softer, after the war against Subaru and Mitsubishi ended. They made hatchbacks and cooled down on the Impreza. But Subaru made a comeback with the 2018 Impreza and the new 2021 version. Mitsubishi: There was a total of 2 competitors in this. The Evo and the lancer. The evo was one of the main competitors of the war, with powerful cars and top speed. People were confused wether choosing a sublime or evo. Starting it’s impression in 2005, Subaru and Mitsubishi both fought for their best cars, and when Subaru got softer, Mitsubishi still produced these cars, until the owner decided the cut these cars off the production line. The evo was killed, but rumours that another Evo line will be started.
It was the 2008 model that definitely the lowest point of the WRX. By 2010, they had returned it, but people still associate that entire period as being bad.
I drive a 19 sti limited. The 19-21 cars have stronger blocks, better pistons, better tuning, revised gear ratios, the bigger 6 piston monobloc brakes and the list goes on. 19-21 uses the same block as the s209 sti. This last iteration of the EJ really was its swan song, just a great car to drive. The only real issue of you want to call it that was initial turn in/understeer. That can be fixed with 250$ thicker rear swaybar and really becomes perfect. The interior is nicer than the evo by a mile, the sti is the same basic car it was in 2015 so it was there for the last generations of evo so it’s a fair comparison. I owned a 2014 evo mr touring and it was finicky and required you always keep an eye on it. The fit and finishing, paint, just the overall quality wasn’t even close to the Subarus not to mention the dual clutch sst. The dual clutch was a great transmission for anything 400 hp and below. After that you needed to send it to that place in colorado for a performance rebuild to make it stronger. It still required 750$ fluid changes every 20k miles which was asinine. Stock vs stock the sti is an all around better car to own. Sure the evo can beat it around a track but I can be sure the sti will still get me home 330 miles after I’m done with the track day lol.
Being 100% honest, no evo ten has ever beat my WRX.... The only thing I want from the evo in my subaru is their recaro seats. Those things are amazing.
Subaru Blue I think it's because your jokes are bad mate... That could explain why you think no one on the internet understands jokes... Just being honest.
+MRsjovealek a hatch will have a much higher center of gravity and will also be heavier. So obviously it won't corner as good or feel as snappy as a sedan.
+Laramie Payne why should a hatchback automatically be heavier thats not how that works it should actually be lighter than a sedan unless of course you use shitty materials that make the car heavier than it should be . sedans are a lot longer than a hatchback and provided you use the same materials for both the sedan will be a bit heavier because it is a bigger car thats just logical . thats why you dont see evos in rallys anymore its all hatchbacks they are lighter and snappier around corners than sedans . look i love both subies and evos but lets face it ever since subaru started making hatchbacks they have lost it , its just not the same car anymore . and straight out the factory modern day subarus just suck they handle like pigs and everything just feels so cheap . they still can be really decent cars if you put a lot of money into them (10 to 15k) . the only thing a evo x needs when it comes out the factory is like a stage 2 (usually exhaust , air filter and ecu tune ) to open up the engine and let it breathe other than that its pretty much perfect
My friend has a bolt on self-built 2008 EVO MR putting down just over 310 WHP. Only problem with the car is that the automatic/flappy paddle transmission can't handle the power so it overheats and stops shifting right when you try to autoX It. In normal driving and cooling conditions handles the power just fine for you to fly by people and have a little hoon on a regular drive. It only overheats when you put it in sport mode and really go HAM shifting near those high RPMs repeatedly. It's a pretty great car but honestly the paddle shifters make it boring. I prefer da manual.
I suppose this is why Subaru mucked around with the suspension on the GR STi. After 2010 the springs and dampers were quite different. Does anyone know if they re-did this comparison, even in print Top Gear? I can't find anything.
That wasn't the whole story, it was very funny, because after Jeremy told us that the Evo was much better, the Stig took both cars around the track, and the Subaru trashed the Evo in the ladder board.
@@nodekapunk Do you have a TH-cam link? I remember watching the episode and the WRX was 1 second quicker IIRC. But, that was against a less powerful Evo model.

+Sam iNbfk the sti in this video didnt come in sedan. a few years later it did
This whole generation of STI/WRX sucked ass lol. The hatch got better in the late model years but seriously shot Subaru in the foot
Sadly the 08 evo will out perform every sti for the next 2 decades
@@dylangilbert3355 except in rally where it got its ass beat. Oh and in Japanese touring cars, tougue too. Hatch is where it fucked up
Exactly
This is Utterly bull..he's comparing evo 10 FQ (which is a higher spec than the normal evo10) with a standard Subaru sti.
***** Price and power aren't irrelevant.
Teradmc it depends on weight also like a v6 SUV vs a v4 sedan and most SUVs have a 0-60 time of 10 and higher
Mustafa Khan but the imp is a classified as a hatch, not a suv
Teradmc Yes, the same 2.5 engine block the STis from North America had. In 2011 they eventually released the 2.0 TT STi, and in Sedan form.
DummyInTheCity I know but I was using an example
"The evo looks better". No shit. You have the nasty hatchback version with a crap colour. A subaru HAS to be world rally pearl blue. And it sounds like crap? No other 4 banger sounds nearly as good as a subie boxer.
Ben Klassen They only had a hatchback sti until 2010
That is very very wrong.
WR Blue Mica, gold wheels, and a wing on the back big enough to use it at a farmers market to sell corn or something
Arjen_hoi he means that in the first couple years of the stinkeyes they only had sti's as a hatchback, they stopped making sti sedans for a few years
boo
Laptimes on the Top Gear Test Track:
WRX STI Hatchback 1:28:2
Lancer Evolution X 1:28:22
Clarkson Smudged the Evo's Time and tried not to let the Other two know the Lap Time... To No Avail...
sti should of been in sport sharp mode. oh well
Chandler Johnston sti choice is irrelevant. The hatch has more horsepower and torque then any models
Makes no difference (I own one). It's just throttle pedal remapping. S and S# still have the same level of power at the same RPM.
Erik Tomlinson if you own one and basically said that the throttle pedal mapping is the only difference. Ya I know, same with intelligent mode.....same power, different throttle response. And s and s+ have a huge difference. I own one to sti not wrx...s+ makes a big difference
Should HAVE been*
Well... English is my second language and I can use it better than the natives. Nice. :D
Always loved Evo's I own an Evo 6 and really love it and have driven an Evo 8 and also thought it was great.
The 10 looks fantastic.
Where do u live that u were able to buy an Evo 6? U lucky bastard haha I love that car
"If a wrx can't do it, then you need an invisible car" -Fast and Furious
Lol
Fr thoo
Evo X. The last of its kind :(
Iove my subie but Evos have my respect. Only car I seen destroy a Tesla was an Evo
I just bought an 03 rally edition lancer. Good condition too! Ima take real good care of her. My first Japanese car and I LOVE IT
I have driven Evo9 and it was incredible!
Always dreamed of owning an evo since my childhood, I'm 37 now and still unable to afford an evo.. But I own a Pajero Sport now which is quite good
Ah finally i can afford that subaru, ive been waiting for 12 years!
Don't waste your money on a shitbox subaru and they are slow..
@@hondasarefaster5914 oh well they blow head gaskets too, otherwise my alternatives are the fd type r or an evo9 or a gt 86 but all of them are waay out of my budget 😩.
Would want a type r tho, they are such a sweetheart to drive
@@TheJohnlyh yeah type r is usually the higher rated car over evo and wrx for driving pleasure and capability and power of course..
12 year and now u find out u should have bought the evo.
I got subaru impreza. It is really stunning
I absolutely agree. May be because Mitsubishi Lancer is my first love. :)
Evo is my dream car for a long time and I'm glad that Jeremy shares my passion :D
I am going to miss the evo so much but you know what people say - legends don’t die, they are reborn. If you don’t believe this look at the skyline, the Supra - plenty of other examples. The day will come, mark these words. Until then I am going to be driving around with the evo‘s smaller brother - the ralliart.
I don't get the anorak statement I am not English could somebody explain it to me? 1:05
Y'know, seeing the people dive out of the way in old rally footage reminds me of something...(as a Gran Turismo player)
Why isn't the photographers-diving-out-of-the-way-and-you'd-try-to-run-them-over feature not in GT5 or 6?
irrelevant to program that
im 20 yrs old and Lancer Evolution has always been my dream car since I was a kid
ok i am a HUGE Fan on the Subaru WRX STI Impresa and now im takeing that as an insuilt
+Zanechoe maybe you are not such a huge fan after all because its impreZa not impreSa :P
For the sti; Coil overs, a nice exhaust, front and rear swar bars and you got a great car. I just love the sti steering wheel, shifter and the gauges are so awesome.
i prefer a 2004 impresa
I owned an Sti,Evo X and a GTR R35 at the same time. They were all great cars.
😂
Just sold my sti to buy a 2014 evo x ... omg best move ever made...
I traded my evo X for a litchfield type 25 😂
Subaru the best
Yeah ive always have that at the back of my head on my i bought this stupid evo..... But when i go up the mountain and be able to take sweeping curves at 75mph and how sharp it turns that itll make nauseated it always reminds me why i bought it
Why has it been re-uploaded and the Hans Zimmer music removed? The Evo showcase isn't the same without the Hans Zimmer.
"you might as well drive it with these.."
That would be pretty cool though..
Down fall of both cars:
Subaru: The early days of the Impreza were popular, in speed and price.
As many times as i watched this on tv, i never noticed the mannequins all over the place in the background, or the hand stuck on the car before, lmao
it'd be interesting to see jeremy's opinion on the new version of the WRX STI
This gen of the sti was really just the low point of its life, the newer models are far better, as are the old ones.
***** Bring your Evo to New Mexico so I can change those statistics for you :)
***** So when will you be in my neck of the woods?
sermerlin1 why is it no one on the Internet understands jokes
Subaru Blue I think it's because your jokes are bad mate... That could explain why you think no one on the internet understands jokes... Just being honest.
then you haven't met enough Evos, simple as that
Still would rather watch Jeremy Clarkson review old cars than Chris Haris with new. Just my opinion.
And you can on Amazon - The Grand Tour
4:55 nowadays Chelsea is probably worse than Forest. 🤣
Its sickening to see a Red Subaru and a Blue Evo lol
What if it was a test for life in the countryside in a snowy landscape? Having to go far and staying comfortable?
what makes me mad the wrx was the hatch back.
My dad has an Evo X MR and it’s the first car I learned to drive it
You can't compare a hatch with a sedan. There's too big of a difference there to have a control.
+Laramie Payne yeah nevermind that half the cars in the world rally championships are hatchbacks.
All these cars like the Lancer Evo should be used for space missions like Mars. They're rally cars and are perfect for those roads.
Anyone fancy watching this in 2019?
Have had my Evo X since 2015. End of 2021 the engine build was completed along with..many, upgrades. Love this car.
Great to watch this after Chelsea's victory in FA Cup vs Nottingham Forest:)
That's why you get a GSR
Mitsu should have been making Evos in limited numbers for car enthusiasts, they would sell easy
Yeah enthusiastic about shitboxes..
@@hondasarefaster5914 don't you have anything better to do than trash talk other cars? You're just giving honda fans a bad image.
@@miguelangeloeiramartins6241 i only trash talk the trash cars, most Honda fans agree with me..
@@hondasarefaster5914 this is the reason why honda are magnet to ricer lmao
@@nonameB6919 na Hondas are magnets to people who like to go fast and gap the fuck out of evo and wrx..
According to the internet, both of these cars are still on the road.
Also after watching this video, i bought an Evo X in the same colour. I love it!
Subaru STI and Mitsubishi EVOs are both great.
The times were both 1:28.2 lol what are you talking about?
@@nodekapunk Do you have a TH-cam link? I remember watching the episode and the WRX was 1 second quicker IIRC. But, that was against a less powerful Evo model.
@@tipjohnson8963 you can look it up online. There is a list of every single car that has done the lap, and their time
2023 and I NEVER see that style scooby anymore, anywhere ever! And I'm on the road from east Sussex to Lancashire monthly.
That Mitsubishi still looks dope!!!
Couldn't believe its a 12 year old car. Wtf. It looks great like it came out yesterday
I liked the 4 door Sedan type Impreza better...
Honestly, I think all the Impreza STI models are great. They're all fast and powerful.
Just bought an impreza and youtube showed me this.

i didn't know how to drive manual the other day and instead of the wrx ended up getting a crosstrek which i'm still happy and can still jam to eurobeat and still do drifts in it stock and still be able to go offroad in it perfect
