Now she’s in great condition(besides afew bumps because keeping it outside the trash lid flies open and hits the hood in high winds). Now she’s worth about 6k. Combine than with my carpenters work I’ve got about 8k right now. Im working up towards a c5 corvette.

When you don't have a lot of money these are my picks:
If you love performance or trackdays buy a Honda.
They sound amazing, they are really quick, they last forever, and they are easy to upgrade, fix or maintain.
If you love drifitng around corners don't even think about anything else. Buy an MX-5.
You can go with a BMW but the Mazda will probably last longer and be cheaper to upgrade - maintain.
If you don't care that much about performance but you just want your first car so you can learn and get some driving experience, you need something cheap, and reliable.
Go with Toyota. A Corolla is great little car to start with.

I payed nowhere near that amount for my bugeye wagon and it is a blast, especially in the winter or on the highway. I don't have emissions laws where I live either so we all know what that means. Granted I have about 6k in mods so far and I do end up fixing something about once a month, but I don't care because it's great. Aftermarket parts are plentiful and replacement parts are cheap on Ebay motors. For example if I blow it up I can get another engine for about 1200 bucks or I can get a JDM ej207 for about 1500 bucks. You can make over 300 all wheel horsepower with a few bolt on and a tune. If you build the motor you can get into the 500s on pump gas but you will need to do a 6 speed swap and get the R160 rear diff. They are fun stock and even more fun to modify. Subaru people are also super weird about them. Half the time I go to the store I come out to someone walking around my car blowing vape clouds. I was never a Subaru fan until I got this car, I was always more of an American car kinda person and I still am. I can see why people love them though. It's not the fastest car in the world, but it is fun and the sound the boxer makes with the catless turbo back exhaust inspires wood.

I got a 05 Celica GT for 3500 and it was the best car I’ve driven so far. I loved the handling, the sporty feel, and the gas mileage. God it was unbreakable until someone pulled a left turn in my face and broke my baby😢

Bruhh I have a 03 Matrix XRS (with the 6200-8300rpm ecu 😎) and its soo much fun! Tons of power for the street and the 6 speed gearbox, Supra-like steeringwheel. Shes bone stock just with a k&n drop in filter and some homemade “intake mods” (aka a hole in the bumper for COLD air intake!! And so you know, that hole in the bumper made a WORLD of difference in power!! 4000-5500 rpm isnt a big dead spot anymore!)

      @vaselinos5597 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Yes I’m gonna monitor those turbo seals closely and be very careful to warm up my oil before revving and to let it idle before shutting down. It helps that I have a turbo timer!
I was actually looking for a WRX or a Speed 3, WRX being my first choice. But I am soooo glad I chose the Speed 3! No regret whatsoever! Here are the reasons :
1 - The Subie tax up here in Canada is no joke. I would basically have spent double on a similar year WRX.
2 - I love the Bose sound system in the Speed 3. In the WRX nobody listens to music since the audio is dog shit. You can change it but it is more money and a hassle.
      3 - Six-speed transmission.
4 - Stiffer suspension, less body roll than a WRX.
5 - Less maintenance, lower costs
The only tradeoff is the AWD, but I drove all my life in snowstorms in fwd cars and never had problems. Now I have an lsd so still an upgrade!

You made a good choice. I’ve got a 2004 Subaru WRX and the problems these things have are definitely real. I’ve had problems more often than not ever since I bought it. The engine only has 42k miles on it too and it’s stock. The AWD is awesome though. I never had a problem with my fwd Civic in the snow, but the AWD is awesome. It just claws into the ground for traction, but can still be thrown sideways if you want. I Also like all the waves I get from fellow subie owners. But all in all they’re just too problematic and unnecessarily expensive. I had to buy a new idle air control valve and it cost me like $400 (USD) for the tiny part. The engine also ticks on a cold start and goes away once it’s warm.

Early 2000s Toyota Celica can be found for $2000-3000. Super reliable and decently practical and fuel efficient for a 2 door sports car.
2011-2013 Mini Cooper S is a great shout for the $5000-6000 range. Fun, practical, good on gas, and an iconic design. Honestly unlike any car you'll ever drive.
