The Infiniti m45 would’ve been a great choice on this list I found some from 2005-2007 for $2000-$5000 it has a 4.5l 325 hp and it’s rwd only downside is that they only came with a 5 speed auto
As a "06 Pontiac GXP owner and happy and sad you mentioned it. 1. It's fast and a blast to drive. 2. Very important, You didn't mention the transmissions are glass on them and GM didn't put out a recall to fix the issue. Some people seen issues as low as 10k miles and while still under warranty could get it fixed. I was lucky and unlucky with mine. The trans lasted until 100k then 1st and 2nd gave out. She has been parked and de-registered for 2.5 -3 years now.

Tbh I love the sound my old G35 made. So I would most likely go with the newer G37. But I would be really torn up about not getting the xjr as I drive away in my G37. If the 2000-2005 bmw 545i, twin intake, v8, turbo, 6speed manual, quad exhaust were to be on this list I would be into it.

i loved my S60R when I had it. there's just some issues that can be quite expensive to fix though even if you know how to work on cars. Otherwise it had an amazing comfy interior and the exterior looks great too. flat torque curve from like 2k rpm to redline made it pull pretty good too. electronically adjustable suspension worked great and was a cool feature. it is like $300 for a singe monroe strut though

I mean I have a mid engine AWD car. It is pretty cool. It is a 1994 Toyota Previa. Does 0-60 in about 12 seconds. Also has swivel seats and makes my friends smile.
I have a 07 gxp and i love it. Granted you NEED to upgrade the transmission with heat treated rods and beef up the front hub assemblies and axles because it will destroy them if you do to many standing starts! But for a frint wheel drive its a fun extremely good handling car.

The only cars on this list you can find for under 5k here in Michigan is if they have 140-200k miles. I’m guessing the pricing isn’t too far off for everyone else too. But hey I just bought a turbo Saab for my gf and it has 179k miles for 3 grand and it’s actually pretty nice
Just get a miata. You can get one for under 5k super easy. They sure as hell aren't fast but you feel fast in them and they handle very well. Easy to maintain your self, good on gas and a strong aftermarket support. Swap engines for more power down the line and you got a fast car. Miata is always the answer.
I used to have a '08 G35 - loved that car, probably the smartest purchase on this list. That being said, my current toy in this price range blows it away: '03 C32 AMG. It is smaller, lighter, & has 50 more HP! Sure, it's a ticking time bomb from a reliability standpoint, but every time I think about getting rid of it I take it for a drive and change my mind!
