20 years later and I still get goosebumps from this song
Let me tell you seeing them live for this album as a teenager and again for the 20 year anniversary it hits the same. She is just amazing.
Evanescence has gotten me through some tough times. Definitely check out Good Enough, Even in Death, Lacrymosa, and Call me when you’re sober, same band. Amy Lee has the most haunting voice in all of rock.

This song is actually about losing someone through death, not a breakup. She’s playing a ghost in the video. That’s why the kids never see/acknowledge her, why she’s wearing white, never in a scene with the man, and her feet never touch the ground. The lyrics are in the man’s perspective but she’s singing them. Makes the song even more intense than you thought! I’ve lost a good amount of my family over the years and this song has gotten me through a lot.

Evanescence's sound and Amy Lee's voice are haunting and i love them. When i was a child i would spend my entire bus ride (40 mins a day) to and from school listening to Evanescence and linkin park. they got me through my darkest days, and were there with me when i had my best memories. Hi this is random but I actually made a Reimagined version of this song using Chester's voice its on my channel.
The song is from losing a loved one… and everytime I think of my daughter that my partner and I lost in her miscarriage it breaks me into tears… “you’re still with me…” Amy Lee’s music always hit..

This is my song to my son that passed away of SIDS. Never thought of it as a relationship perspective
Band member Ben Moody, who appears in this video, wrote this song about his grandfather's death. Amy Lee wrote the Bridge part of the song. It is a song about the passing away of a loved one, not about a relationship. The misinterpretation often associated with the song comes about because it is Ben's grandfather saying, I held your hand, I calmed you, and you still have all of me. Then other parts, Ben says my grief haunts me, etc. Listen to it closely from that perspective, and it makes more sense following the back and forth between Ben and his grandfather. Keep it for your son, who plays at the Lord's feet until you are reunited. 🙌

Ben Moody wrote this song when he was the cofounder of Evanescence, it's about a spirit that haunts the memory of a grieving loved one. Too bad he left, I think Amy and Ben were awesome writers and musicians. I think Ben's made the guitar sing.
This song was the very first song my dad showed me the music video to. We would sit at the computer, share an earbud, and watch many music videos. However, this one holds a special place in my heart for being the first and the most loved.

I go to this song anytime I start thinking of those I've lost. I'm 57, so the list is long and growing longer. It doesn't make me feel better, but at least when I cry, it makes letting the tears flow easier.

This was written by Ben Moody ( the guy in the video) when he was 17. He wrote it about the passing of his grandfather.

When I was younger, I thought this was just a super dramatic breakup song, then I found out it was written about her younger sister who passed away. It makes cry every time I hear it now.

I always equated this to my adoption and my birth mom giving up just to girl not long after. Yes I warped to my pain.
I'm sorry but that song was about the guy playing the piano they were childhood friends that turned into a relationship they broke up the singer and the piano Guy and then after the album came out he left the band.

It's not a relationship song it's about death.
