Please check out Chalk Outlines the live version by Ren and Chinchilla. Their vocals are amazing and they compliment each other so well. Its amazing. I'm sure u will like it. Also check out Hi Ren by Ren as well. Hes an amazing artist from wales
@@PeacockJac I do not know if it was their intention but I always saw "My Immortal" as the follow up to "Bring Me To Life". Note that she looks like an angel or ghost in this video. You see him looking up at the same or a similar building that she fell from in BMTL. She is laying down on the top of a car, laying down on the roof of a small building, and on a tree branch. All places she might have landed from her fall. In this song, she is either singing about a lost loved one from death or just a painful breakup. Either way, she is like a ghost/haunting memory in his life. I may be completely off with their vision but that is always how it struck me.
@@bamachine To each their own. To be honest, this might be the first time I have seen the actual music video for this song. Generally, I like live performances more, especially when they are quality musicians. I consider Amy to be one of those. That's why I suggested doing Bring Me To Life live version, as it is really good. Great performance and a great crowd. Most reactors don't because it is harder, for the most part, to dissect the voice with those types of performances though.
@@PeacockJac I was not arguing against seeing the live version. I also prefer live versions when the artist is actually good and not over-produced nonsense. Also, when the video is professionally shot and not some cell phone video. I love the Conan version of Disturbed's cover of "Sound of Silence" better than the official music video. I also love all of the AC/DC videos from their 2009 River Plate show(I saw them on that tour in Atlanta). I was just pointing out that I think the two official music videos seem to share a similar theme, even if the songs were not about the exact same subject.
I always saw the going under as a portrayal of the angry menace Amy felt from the fans and band while singing in the hard metal genre. Interesting view of the meaning of bring me to life and my immortal, but I always seemed to think my immortal had something to do about love for a vampire like character. They were common in TV and movies at that time.
Ah Amy Lee. What a voice. What a song writer. If you are looking for something on the heavier side then Going Under, Call me when you're sober, What you want or their most recent single Yeah, Right.
Shortly after this song came out my twin sister/best friend passed in the middle of the night she was 27 I used to play this song for hours as the memories haunted me even today hearing it makes me think of Karen ❤
Amy is an incredible musician. She can go effortlessly from a light, delicate sound to wailing it out with control. She seems to be a friend with Lzzy Hale (who you have done previously), and during the pandemic the two of them collaborated on a beautiful son that you should annalize called "Break In". I'm off to listen to that song now. 😊
So, having cried thru this on Patreon, I just came in to help the algorithm! Regarding my energy, productivity level, I am definitely a night owl! I always worked the 3-11pm shift at the hospital and could do an additional 11-7am shift. Even in retirement, most chores, etc. get done later in the day!❤️🤗
I preface this by saying I know nothing about music or music theory or any of that that. But I've often thought that Amy Lee and Allison Krause have very similar voices and could, if they wanted to, sing each other's songs interchangeably. I could be wrong but I believe these two women to have two of the most beautiful singing voices in history.
if i remember correctly she wrote this song about her sister who passed away, which adds a whole other layer of gut-wrenching emotion when you listen ot the lyrics
It was the song "like you" "I long to be like you Lie cold in the ground like you There's room inside for two And I'm not grieving for you I'm coming for you"
Very rarely (like 2/3 weeks a year) I'm awake early, like 5/6 and very productive. Usually, I'm a typical night owl and evening (6pm-2am) is productive. When there's less outside noise etc.
Love the reaction, Jen! This song is so emotional, and Amy Lee’s vocals are one of the best I ever heard. So unique, she sounds like an angel for real! Obs: Please consider react to some Alanis Morissette song! I would love that!
I love this song. It has a lot of meaning for me. Thank you for choosing the song. As for being productive, I get much more done in the early morning to my horror and despair. I would rather stay up all night and sleep during the day but if I have something that needs doing, I have to do it in the morning, the earlier the better. If I leave it until later, it probably won’t get done until the next day. 😮
I hate mornings. I have difficulty staying asleep at night, so it is hard getting up in the am. It takes an hour or two to get functioning. This is my favorite song by Evanescence. It's beautiful. Billy Boy
This is such an underrated gem! I looked and I have the sheet music for it. So hauntingly beautiful. Great analysis as always, Jen! I now have a better idea of where to place my vowels when singing along or on my own.
I am most productive from when I start my first major task of the say to whenever I have down time. Most often that's first thing in the morning, but not always.
Evening/Night owl. What's morning? I don't remember that far back... There is an acoustic version (w/o the band) of this song released on the same album that is also worth a listen. It gives a more intimate feel to the song that is also wonderful. Have a listen on your own.
I'm more productive in early morning depending upon what you consider early after so many years of working on shows till like 3am and then tear down and move on seems like 11 pm till 5am is the best most productive times for me
The original version of this song was as a ballad the whole way through, it was only once the record company got hold of it that they added the full band part in the final chorus
For the "record": "The lyrics of the song refer to a spirit that haunts the memory of a grieving loved one. Similar to several other songs written by [Ben] Moody, the lyrics of the song are based on a short story he had previously written. According to Lee, it was "Ben [Moody]'s song." Moody said that the song talks about "a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone." He also stated in the booklet of Fallen that he dedicated the song to his grandfather, Bill Holcomb. In "My Immortal", Lee expresses her feelings through the line, "Though you're still with me / I've been alone all along.A writer for IGN said that "'My Immortal' is a song of pain and despair caused by the loss of a family member or very close friend and how it drove her [Lee] to the edge of insanity." This video is absolutely beautiful but the live version with a lot of views, is out of this world. The belt she does going into the build with the band joining, is just crazy.
I've never watched the video, the audio is moving enough to pull tears that I didn't know I felt. I work 7 to 3, so have to be productive early whether I feel it or not. I usually feel most productive around 11:00 when a certain reactor decides to post an analysis and reaction to amazing music... You're like a nitro boost that gets me to the end of the race!
Aside from her obvious vocal talent, another thing Amy Lee really excels at is writing backing vocals and harmony parts to her main melodies. Often harmony parts are just the main melody but up or down a certain interval. But when she writes a harmony, it's a full-fledged counter-melody. Some good songs for harmony parts are "Weight of the World", "Call Me When You're Sober", "Blind Belief", "Better Without You", "Speak to Me", and "My Last Breath". Sometimes even when the main melody will repeat a phrase, she will make sure that the harmony doesn't repeat how it accompanies that melody, keeping every repetition sounding fresh. Good examples of this are "New Way to Bleed", "Cloud Nine", and "Feeding the Dark".
I'm a late afternoon/early evening person. This is one of my favourite songs but it makes my eyes leak every time, the emotion, the feeling of loss, grief and remembrance. Please take a look at other songs by Evanescence, there's so many wonderful tracks. Thank you for the insights Jen 😊
Most wonderful reaction, Jen! I am familiar with this song, and when you mention at the end how she loses/drops the forward placement fill and became softer more quickly, it almost seemed as if it was submission to some sort of relief. The bridge allowed a release and... well, I don't really know what I'm talking about. It's just how it "felt". Also, I am much more productive in the afternoon. I CAN be productive in the morning, but it is very forced and really drags down the rest of my day.
PLEEEEASE react to Hello, it's one of the most hauntingly powerful vocals every recorded, but it goes criminally underappreciated. Apparently it's so emotionally charged for Amy they never do it live, maybe that's why? In any case it's a MUST
You’re giving me life with this reaction! I’ve been listening to this song since it first came out, and you made me notice many things that I wasn’t aware of before, I love it. Can’t wait to see where your evanescence experience takes us next! I saw someone recommended lithium, i second that wholeheartedly
I get up as early as possible, normally 6am or so, and I will get all the things done that need doing and once they are done I feel settled and go about the rest of the day at my leisure.
Loved this! Her voice and lyrics have haunted me For 20+ years! For a full band reaction I'd recommend My Heart is Broken, again astonishing vocals and lots for you talk about I'm sure. However Amy Lee has also released a few solo songs, and her magnum opus is Speak to Me. It's an absolutely chilling song about a mother singing to her son from behind the grave, saying how they'll be together again but until then she urges to remember her and keep speaking to her. Her vocals are on top form and the way the song builds is endlessly bonechilling, so would love to see a reaction to that!
Amy Lee is one that us in Arkansas are so proud of and so thankful for, such a great talent and a fantastic representation of our state that doesn’t get a lot of love
Anything Amy Lee sings is well worth hearing. One in particular I'd suggest is a duet with Lizzy Hale. The official video of Break In (filmed in the studio) is amazing.
This is my first time watching your channel. After seeing so many regular reactions and a lot of vocal coach reactions, it's insane that this is the first time I've actually seen someone put vocal coach in the title and actually sing and use the notes from the song they're reacting to! I am VERY impressed that you hear Amy singing and can immediately follow up by hitting the same notes she does. Great job, you actually use your voice to bring another level to reactions that almost nobody else seems to do!
Definitely more productive when I wake up early (before 7:00-7:30AM) but I work from home so usually I tend to sleep a bit more since there is no rush.
You should take a look at Dan Vasc’s cover of this! I am more productive in the morning and afternoon (morning for brain work and afternoon for physical work). Evenings are never productive for me! I have gotten up fairly early for most of my life. Now, I get up at 6:30 a.m. on workdays and I usually wake within thirty minutes of that on non-work days. At your age, I would never have dreamed that I would choose to be at work at 7:30 a.m. when I was given the option of choosing my starting time.!
When I was in college, I learned that I'm a morning person when I aced my 7:30 AM calculus II class. I'm always sharpest and most productive in the morning.
In answer to your question, I'm definitely a night owl. I was born at 3:44am and I think that set my lifetime clock. Being a working bassist for coming on 57 years has amplified that proclivity. Though I'm not gigging as much as in the past I still am awake till the wee hours.
Thank you for the reaction! And, I am most productive mentally in the afternoon, but, I am physically productive in the morning and afternoon. I hate being productive in the evening 😋 The evening is for me to relax.
Afternoon - I'm not good in the morning at all, and I have to take medication early evening that makes me a bit drowsy....Just recently discovered this song and it's incredible!
I love the way the song makes use of the loneliness of the notes on the piano then builds power through the verse with the swell of a full orchestra. And Amy Lee is simply perfection
Looking back over my working years, I think it evolved over the years. Mid career I seemed to get most done in the afternoon, but by the end of my career, I think I did better in the morning. I also noticed if I worked more than 10 hours in a day, I tended make mistakes that I had to fix the next morning. 😏 Now that I’m retired, late afternoon and evening are my times I tend to get things done.
I really enjoy the way you break the songs down. Not many others I've found go as in depth as you do! If you want another song from Amy Lee, I would suggest Love Goes On and On. Its her collaboration with Lindsey Stirling and it would be great for an analysis!
When I saw the title of this video I thought, “no way she’s never heard this song before!” I couldn’t escape it back in my college days. Really great reaction vid! Wonderful job!!
Me as pisces man feeling sleepy during day, at evening can do anything without feeling tired, 2am perfect time for exercise. Ammy is best, love this song 😊😊😊
I'm most productive in the small hours of the morning. I usually wake between 0100 - 0200 eat, edit, mix down, then about 0700 check on the farm animals water and feed and play. Go nap then get up around noon and get ready to record (if there is something to record) then sometimes play with the grandbabies.
Did you realize that she is dead in this video? She is singing to him from the beyond. She never puts a foot on the ground and lies down for most of the video. Her significant other is walking barefoot down the street wearing black. She is wearing a white dress. There is a lot of hidden symbolism in this video. She is walking around the ledge of a water fountain (Water is the symbol of life.) The kids playing symbolize innocence and simpler times. She is on top of a car to convey that life went by too fast for her. As she places a foot in the water, it symbolizes that she is trying to reach out to her significant other. I love the symbolism in their music videos. Awesome song and an exceptional video.Well done!
I am more productive in the morning and evening. I get up energized and get things done, and then I complete tasks before the day's end. The afternoon tends to be more bored and meh feeling.
Morissette Amon did a beautiful if raw rendition of this song during her live-streaming days. Morissette was responding to a request so was sight-reading her keyboard while turning pages on a laptop, adjusting the volume, pressing the sustain pedal under her knee (she was sitting cross-legged on her bed at the time), and, by the way, singing a killer version of this song. Even if you don't react to it here, it is worth a listen. Trust me. It is one of my favorite Morissette covers. Thanks, by the way, for your wonderful reaction/analysis.
It’s so nice to listen to people reacting to Evanescence s music and Amy’s talent. It’s sad that most of TH-camrs only tend to react to their earlier stuff. It’s be nice for people to listen to their current music, so they can see their growth, but I get it. My Immortal is such a classic. She does it beautifully live as well. You could check out her performance in the “synthesis live dvd” from 2018. They performed it with a full orchestra and she kind of shines over there. Also, their latest album, The Bitter Truth is so nice.
A touching song. With some beautiful moments. If no one’s mentioned it, the album version contains no rock elements at all. Productivity: definitely in the evening. I tend to be fairly nocturnal for the most part. That’s when I seem to do more of my creative writing, or have more ideas and concepts come to me. And in the past, when I did more visual art, I once felt inspiration at a very unexpected hour. But in spite of that, I still got to work, sat down and created a piece.
Jennifer! Catching up as usual. More productive? Morning. After a bit of caffeine. I'm definitely a morning person. So 6:30 or 7:00 am is sleeping in for me. I get up at 5:30 am even on the weekends. Evanescence ... I don't know them well either. I was still stuck in the 70's and 80's so a 2000ish punk/pop band was kind of in the periphery. You were a bit on the young side for a song released in 2003. 😁 Love this song. LOL, I reached for my phone keyboard before you did on that A3. LOL again ... "very handy to have the band next door ya know ..." 😂I had heard this song before but never seen the video. She is stunning ... her eyes, wow. I was going to say the setting made me think of Italy but it's Spain (Barcelona). Great reaction and analysis as always Jen. 😊
My sister and I are complete opposites. She gets up between 3-5am and is up and moving, full of energy and go go go... If I am up at 3-5am it's because I haven't gone to bed yet lol. I have always gotten a 2nd wind at 1am (drove my mom nuts as a child) I do notice that when I do wake up between 9am-1pm if I jump into doing something I will have more luck getting stuff done but a lot of that is because of a myriad of health issues. Best way I can describe it is that I start each day with a battery, and that's all the energy I have in a day, so I can burn it up fast doing a lot of stuff, or take stuff at a lot slower pace (drives me crazy because I was a workaholic) but I can do things later in the day.
This song is timeless. I love her softness yet powerhouse ability. I ❤ Amy Lee and Evanescence. She’s also a classically trained pianist. You should review Good Enough, Call Me When You’re Sober and Your Star

For me, I would say I'm more proactive in the afternoon or evening. I'm not a morning person.
🙌🏼🙌🏼
I could listen to her voice and look into her eyes all day long…….
"Lithium" is brilliant and haunting. My favorite of their entire catalog.
lithium or call me when your sober!! two of my favorites from them. loved the reaction!!
upon waking morning finds the most inspiration as the brain has not been overwhelmed with reality
Afternoon is my golden time. I take until around 10am to really get going.
Ahaha! Occasionally I’ll wake up early and start working, but I could keep going and working in the late hours. 🙈😁
The song's words were written by Ben Moody and the music written by Amy Lee on piano when they were 15.
Lithium is my favourite Evanescence song .
I find that I absolutely focus and eager to learn and retain what I’ve learnt past 12
Morning!! If I don't get out of bed early, I don't sleep at night. I am a get up and go person, definitely!!
"You still have ........ all of me" Why do i always cry? 😥
I would love to see more Gabriel Henrique reactions from you. You do such a wonderful job of your critique of him. Billy Boy
I really enjoy the way you break the songs down. Not many others I've found go as in depth as you do! If you want another song from Amy Lee, I would suggest Love Goes On and On. Its her collaboration with Lindsey Stirling and it would be great for an analysis!
Thanks so much!
When I saw the title of this video I thought, “no way she’s never heard this song before!” I couldn’t escape it back in my college days. Really great reaction vid! Wonderful job!!
It's short but Hello by Evanescence is sooo beautiful and powerful
Me as pisces man feeling sleepy during day, at evening can do anything without feeling tired, 2am perfect time for exercise. Ammy is best, love this song 😊😊😊
One of my favourite female singers in rock or metal amy lee love this song awesome an evanescence
morning, get most of my work done before other people distract me when the day fully starts
Early in the morning. But I do not have a schedule to live by, so we usually are up early, stay up late and nap in the mid-afternoon.
More productive in the morning, all the way! Sleep early, wake up early. Circadian rhythm ftw
I am more productive in the morning and evening. I get up energized and get things done, and then I complete tasks before the day's end. The afternoon tends to be more bored and meh feeling.
Like all your reaction videos, this was most excellent Jen! Loved it!
You forgot to put "in the middle of the night" as an alternative.
As a 23 year experienced truck driver im definitely a morning squirrel. My day usually starts at 630 or so and goes till about 10 at night.
I wake up 4:50 am everyday and do an hour long workout session . I have lost over 60 lbs
Oooh that’s cool that it was in Barcelona! Thank you 😁
Hi Jennifer hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
If I remember correctly, she wrote this song without the full band section. I believe the label insisted on the full band section.
Label was right
My sister and I are complete opposites.
@JenniferGlatzhofer I got your reply here, followed you on insta (and here of course) and messaged you there.
4 am in the morning, my most productive moment.
