There is a performance of "Good Enough" that is on the Paste Magazine TH-cam channel that is live from Steinway Hall. It is just Amy playing and singing. Wonderful song and performance.
If you enjoy so much those journeys lyricly and vocaly, one great stop on this Evanescence train would be Good Enough. Enjoyed a lot your comments on this. I was really young the time i heard this song and now with my ears trained and your insight can enjoy this on another beatiful perspective. Thanks for the free ride to memory lane, so much apreciated!
The lack of vibrato gives her voice a lot of emotion, for me anyway. All the Mariah and Christina style warbling with endless runs and vibrato may be technically impressive and fun to listen to but for me it kills the emotion of a song (of course not all music is meant to be emotional, so no shade on those sort of singers). To have no vibrato except little flutters at the end of lines gives it such a more 'real' emotion to the sound, because it is more like how we speak and thus how we express emotions in day to day life.
Throw shade all you want I know I do, I hate when they do endless runs in every song that's why I cant listen to that type of music, Im not really a pop fan anyway but even more so for those singers.
Check out a live performance of "Lost in Paradise". Two good performances: Live at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert - th-cam.com/video/vL8X4o06BYE/w-d-xo.html Just Amy & Piano - th-cam.com/video/nVUzMY2z284/w-d-xo.html
Amazing selection. Amy Lee is one of my favorite singers of all time. Her voice is so haunting and magical. If you would like to hear how well Amy's voice blends with another's, There is perhaps no better song than Break In by Halestorm (feat. Amy Lee) It's incredible.
The belting she does on Better Without You is just unfair. Belting in a f4 at the very top of her chest voice is just unreal. You shouldn't be able to do that as easily as she does it.
The lyrics are so accurate. My late partner was prescribed Lithium for bipolar disorder - almost killed her physically many times as well as emotionally. "don't want to forget how it feels without Lithium" - because you CAN feel (something/anything) without it. edit: after all this time the song still hits home with force.
I don't know about the vocal techniques by no means, but Amy Lee has the most strikingly beautiful and ethereal voice of any female lead singer. Her music is the soundtrack of my life.
I've only recently discovered Evanescence and Amy Lee, and I'm absolutely blown away by her power, range and control. I would love to hear your take on "My Heart Is Broken" by her...
Oh yeah...Good Enough, Lost in Paradise, Your Star...so many good ones. There's also an acoustic version of "All That I Am Living For" done in 2007 that needs to have a rock/acoustic side-by-side to really appreciate what she did.
You should ✔️ out her live acoustic version of this . The pain in her voice melds with the agony of the cello Not sure what's more beautiful, her voice or her face
Their album Synthesis is amazing. Amy’s voice sounds better than it ever has especially on Lacrymosa and End of the Dream. Please check them out as well as Being Me to Life.
Just stunning Amy’s voice is legendary. Have you heard of Corvyx? I implore you to check him out. He’s covered a lot of Evanescence including this one in the original key and higher. He’s a unique underrated talent, thanks ❤
I saw Evanescence in concert back in September of 2022. I can say she sounds exactly the same live. They played songs from their new album as well as old. Her closer was the best. The rest of the band left the stage. The crew brought her piano out again. She sat down and said, "You guys sing this with me one last for old time sake." Sure enough first note it was my immortal.. just the piano Amy's voice and all ours together on the bridge she just played the piano while we sang ugh I'll never forget that moment. It was so beautiful 😭😭
Yep you nailed it I have seen them many times .... And she is STILL amazing seen her last year twice and DAMN she is so talented one of my favorite bands . Amy my favorite singer easily.
@keitha.563 same. They were doing a tour with Korn as JD and the band were doing their Encore. I could see Amy hurrying around backstage, asking for a mic. Once she got one, she rushed out and did a duet with JD as the ending to the concert. Their voices together was 🔥❤️
I have a child who deals with profound anxiety and depression, and this song is riveting and heartbreaking to me, especially with that context. When I can't understand what is happening in my child's life, I am sometimes brought to this song to help me remember and get closer to understanding.
At some point with this song I began listening to her vocal lines closer, and realized there was a *lot* of emotion in them. And, though it might seem obvious to say, it is not happiness she’s expressing. In fact I would call her singing more emotional than your average rock vocal, even for her. She was clearly venting some deeply discontented feelings here.
PLEASE DO HELLO PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEEASE Its such an underrated/lesser-known song but the vocals are SO emotive and powerful... I guarantee you'll adore it
You really should react and analyse "End of the Dream" and/or "Lacrymosa" from Synthesis Live. Or "Speak to Me", help, there are so many! Looking forward to it! ♥
In addition to her beauty, including a pair of eyes reminiscent of the water of the Caribbean Sea, Amy Lee's voice is one of the highest quality in music.
Your next experience should be the Synsethisis live album, It's AMAZING!!! Overture/ Never Go Back, link: th-cam.com/video/0LOO_OEgCVQ/w-d-xo.html My Heart Is Broken" Synthesis Live DVD, Link th-cam.com/video/GjXdqp84DIg/w-d-xo.html "Lacrymosa" Synthesis Live DVD Link: th-cam.com/video/KaOHTtxLzH4/w-d-xo.html Any one of those you should really enjoy.
Amy Lee is one of the best female vocalists in Metal, along with Courtney LaPlante (Spiritbox), Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil), Tatiana Shmailyuk (Jinjer) and Maria Brink (In This Moment). It's impossible not to love Amy's voice. "My Immortal” is her vocal perfection. In fact, I would LOVE a cover of this song from you, Jen. It would be phenomenal!
I remember vividly the first time I ever heard Amy Lee and Evanescence. I was at a conference with a series of presentations, and in between each presentation they were playing songs from Evanescence's first album over the speakers. Amy's voice was so unique and interesting that I actually hunted down the guy who was running the PA system to ask him what they were playing - and I was hooked! This one and My Immortal are still my favorites from her. Suggestions: Tourniquet and Taking Over Me
❤❤❤one of my favorites. And even more amazing live. I don't know if anyone else suggested this but... You should react to her duet with Lzzy Hale , Break In. Great video❤❤❤
Awesome analysis!! Id recomend you to go for “lacrymosa” next, from the synthesis album, its such a beautiful song, and the amplification of the orchestra in that version makes her voice stand up way more. Really loved your reaction to this one 🫶🏽👏🏽
Love the quality of your critiques. I would love to hear you dive into the voice of Maynard James Keenan. He is the singer of the progressive metal band Tool as well as the lead vocalist for two other amazing bands A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. A great place to dive into Tool are the tracks "The Pot", "Sober" (live 93'), or a personal favorite "The Grudge" The rest of the Tool Army will surely make other suggestions. As for A Perfect Circle the tracks "Judith" (named after his mother who had suffered a diminished lifestyle after a stroke left her reliant on a wheelchair when he was 11), "The Noose", "Passive", and "Disillusioned" are great places to explore. And lastly some Puscifer tracks to start with would be "The Humbling River", "The Remedy", and "Momma Sed." Please start with Tool and spiral out! You're Awesome!
Thanks for the reaction. I hope you don't mind reacting to these songs: 1. Stryper - Lonely 2. Fuzzbox - Irish Bride 3. Saigon Kick - When You Were Mine 4. Lillian Axe - The Day That I Met You Thanks a bunch!
Please react to Speak to Me by Amy Lee. I think it'd a great song to put the power and class of her voice on display. and thank you for the reactions! ❤
Great reaction and insight. 🤌. If you want to hear how goddess her voice is then I suggest listen to “Lockdown”. It’s not an Evanescence song but it’s Amy and a guy name Dave Eggar who does the instrumental. It’s phenomenal and sooo underrated. Her voice always gives me the chills but this song gives me the extra S tier chills. 🥶🥶🥶🥶
Amazing reaction. Amy Lee still remains (at least for me) underrated. Please have a listen and react to GOOD ENOUGH and LIKE YOU also by Evanescence. You''ll love it/them I promise
How can you analyse if you can't let the singuer even complete a sentence you still talk about "professional".. Amy is a professional! You're just an arrogant and annoying youtuber! Fuck patience there must be someone who knows you..
This is one of my favorites. Amy Lee is so amazing. "Anything is better than to be alone"... gives me chills
There is a performance of "Good Enough" that is on the Paste Magazine TH-cam channel that is live from Steinway Hall. It is just Amy playing and singing. Wonderful song and performance.
YES! I love that performance so much

Amy Lee has a haunting voice, great insights as always, thanks Jen 😊
Thank you!!😁
I'd love to see Going Under, Call Me When You're Sober, Broken (Seether ft. Amy Lee) and maybe Tourniquet reactions 😁🙋♀️
What a GREAT choice. Amy's voice is just unreal.
The lack of vibrato gives her voice a lot of emotion, for me anyway. Throw shade all you want I know I do, I hate when they do endless runs in every song that's why I cant listen to that type of music, Im not really a pop fan anyway but even more so for those singers.
I totally agree. There's so few singers who just sing nice long solid notes anymore.
Love The Open Door. Evanescence is such an underrated artist nowadays. Wish people would notice their newer stuff.
Love The Bitter Truth ... Take cover .
Check out a live performance of "Lost in Paradise". Two good performances:
Live at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert - th-cam.com/video/vL8X4o06BYE/w-d-xo.html
Just Amy & Piano - th-cam.com/video/nVUzMY2z284/w-d-xo.html
Her head voice is so clear.
My Heart Is Broken is the next logical step for this power ballads of Evanescence. It took everything that came before to another level
Nice reaction. Check out more Evanescence. Maybe: Better without you or Lost in paradise 🤟
Thank you!
Amazing selection. Amy Lee is one of my favorite singers of all time. Her voice is so haunting and magical. If you would like to hear how well Amy's voice blends with another's, There is perhaps no better song than Break In by Halestorm (feat. Amy Lee) It's incredible.
There's no official video, but I love their song "Your Star." It a vocal and musical masterpiece.
PLEASE Do a more updated Amy Lee song... songs like Better Without You or Yeah Right, Take Cover...all from her last record.
The belting she does on Better Without You is just unfair. Belting in a f4 at the very top of her chest voice is just unreal. You shouldn't be able to do that as easily as she does it.
Love ....Take Cover 👍🏼
I always love to see that look on people's face when Amy goes to her head voice. It always a wow look.
Love your insightful reactions, always happy when one of your vids pops up for an artist I love. 😊
Thank you!
good enough next please!!!
I don't know about the vocal techniques by no means, but Amy Lee has the most strikingly beautiful and ethereal voice of any female lead singer. Her music is the soundtrack of my life.
one of the best concert experiences i had
SAME!!! I’ve been to 2 and of course both was BANGERS. Can’t wait to go to more because I definitely will.
I've only recently discovered Evanescence and Amy Lee, and I'm absolutely blown away by her power, range and control. I would love to hear your take on "My Heart Is Broken" by her...
Her voice and this song gets me every time ❤
Awesome reaction, as always! I'd recommend "Break In" by Halestorm featuring Amy Lee. Lzzy Hale and Amy Lee in one song... absolute 🤯!
Oh yeah...Good Enough, Lost in Paradise, Your Star...so many good ones. There's also an acoustic version of "All That I Am Living For" done in 2007 that needs to have a rock/acoustic side-by-side to really appreciate what she did.
I think she has some good vocal range in the song Speak to Me.
Absolutely! Speak to Me is one of my favorites. ...and the video! .breaks my heart every time. ❤
Love the way you react with evanescence. I'm subscribing now... Can't wait for the next Amy Lee/evanescence masterpieces
You should ✔️ out her live acoustic version of this . The pain in her voice melds with the agony of the cello
Not sure what's more beautiful, her voice or her face
You should definitely react to “my heart is broken”
YES! It's my favorite Evanescence song! Amy is amazing!

FYI she sounds like this live. Not a lot of corrections happening

My heart is broken next! The way Amy sings in that song always send chills down my spine!! Absolutely beautiful!
I have a child who deals with profound anxiety and depression, and this song is riveting and heartbreaking to me, especially with that context. When I can't understand what is happening in my child's life, I am sometimes brought to this song to help me remember and get closer to understanding.
She wrote this when she was sixteen. Initially on guitar. Amy's amazing.
At some point with this song I began listening to her vocal lines closer, and realized there was a *lot* of emotion in them. And, though it might seem obvious to say, it is not happiness she’s expressing. In fact I would call her singing more emotional than your average rock vocal, even for her. Lithium was the song that got me into EV. And it still brings me to tears all these years later.
This song gives me the chills her voice 😱

First time listening or first time stopping the song every ten to twenty seconds to talk about it. Put the analysis AFTER THE SONG!!

The starting note in the scream before the bridge is a C4 not a C5
