Fun Fact: There's a city called Bristol and it's actually in Virginia and Tennessee. The boundary between the two cities is also the state line, which runs along State Street in the downtown district.
My hometown is same way. Texarkana split between Texas and Arkansas.
There is also Bluefield that sits the border of Virginia and West Virginia.

As a Virginian who is about to graduate from Longwood University in Farmville Virginia, I love this! The names are just too good and make me smile and laugh a lot. I love this weirdo state that has been around forever.

I would have done both Manassas for the obvious reason, and McLean because of how it's pronounced.
I have never been more disappointed and proud of my own state cities, my county does have a district called battlefield however

Here in Indy, we actually have a town called Battle Ground with less than 2,000 people. There'd probably be more if they'd stop fighting.
To be fair, Virginia does have a significant percentage of Civil War battlefields concentrated in the land between Richmond and DC

@@digilici951 hey there! I'm from VA too! It's been my experience that the "folk" in both cities is pronounced more like "fick" or for the point I'm making "fuck". I've had a few people from outside VA point out that fact, though I usually wouldn't have thought about it, being from that area. Hope that explanation helps!
There's so much here! Gov's hair, both of them speaking less formally as they get angrier, the "I've known you since 1775" energy, Virginia sneaking all those gross names by. Beautiful.

I've lived in VA all my life. Bumpass is definitely a county here. Short Pump is not a city or a county, it's more like a neighborhood within Henrico county

It took me about three or four videos after discovering this guy, thanks to Rebecca Rogers, to realize that everything you said was 100% true.
So much fun and Central VA had more than its fair share of odd names represented...as I sit less than 10 miles from both Cuckoo and Bumpass.

I can only imagine what you'll do with PA. I mean we've got Cherryville, Beaver, Hometown, Cornwall, Eygpt, Labanon, and Bangor(which Maine won't like the pronunciation of).
There's a ton of Gaps to play around with. And names from everywhere.

There needs to be another part of this that goes over some of Hampton roads. Hampton and Southampton, Hampton roads being named after Southampton and not Hampton, Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Suffolk, an entire city in Hampton roads having a normal human name(Franklin)

When you do New York, make sure to include the North Country (the counties that border Canada on the north side). Their idea of naming towns is going to make the gov’s head spin. It’ll be a blast.
Don’t forget the butchering of old Dutch names in the Hudson Valley. Or the Native American based town names state wide.

I actually went to school in Climax and go to Tightsqueeze often. But I used to live in a little place called Hellbend.

@@whitecherokee73 well I typed out a longer explanation but it felt confusing. It's called south 71. I guess maybe technically us highway 71 South? For example, there's a "Christmas" section where the intersecting roads are named stuff like "Snowflake", "Wonderland", "Sleigh bell."
There's a gun section where the roads are called "Shotgun" and "Revolver" and "Barrel"
Maybe that explains the concept a bit lol

Always looking for qwirky. I usually am up higher on the Dragon, like around the claw ( around Wytheville and Marion) but this looks promising.
@@whitecherokee73 yep 😊 that's the one! I'm not sure how far from the area you are, but some places I love to go are Creation Kingdom Zoo, Natural Tunnel and if you're needing a place to stay, I would highly recommend Appalachian Mountains Cabins. Have fun and stay safe!

We lived in Dumfries. When we moved there my daughter was worried the high school would be named after the town and her diploma would say Dumfries high school. She got lucky the school was Forest Park high school.
