Welcome to the part 1 of the DIY Sim racing setup.
I present you the simplest 900 deg Sim racing steering wheel with paddle shifters for budget sim racing setup.
The principle is very simple, use 2 gears to convert the 270deg rotation of the potentiometer to 900 deg.

-Arduino Leonardo [only boards with atmega32u4 chip (Leonardo and pro micro works) ]

Probably the simplest and cleanest one I have seen so far, awesome man! Do you plan to implement force feed back/self centering or just simple vibration in future upgrade whether in this one or any new wheel design?
Thankyou bro! yes, i will be building more steering wheels with force feed back ,will be with different types of motors and other functions, also trying to keep them cheap and simple as possible but no compromise in quality and function.so that you can build one depends on the money and tools you have. I've a question, can we use a rotary encoder instead of potentiometer ?, think its more durable than a pot and can eliminate the use of that extra gears.. if so should it any extra changes in circuit ? please advice 🙏
Thankyou bro, glad to hear. yes you can use a rotary encoder but should use the expensive ones like 1000 ppr which cost about 3k rs, also the wiring and software is different, also you need some kind of gear mechanism for the 900 deg end lock. i would only prefer encoder if youre going to build a system with force feed back! If you are still unsure, my next version will be with encoder and ffb, it will be a much detailed build.

@@formidhun i have a 600ppr encoder and it works fine i got it for 1500 like and all that ffb diy setup cost me around 2 to 3k.

@@AllenResalam i wanted to add ffb with the potentiometer, so i tried to use mmjoy for that but I’m unable to find a setting that would enable it, so is there any way to use mmjoy for ffb?
@@ShawkWave no, there is no ffb support in mmjoy, also you need a encoder for ffb build not pot, im working on a ffb build and will upload soon , it will cover all part from hardware to software.

yes you have to install a firmware into arduino and mmjoy is used to communicate the system with game( used to detect the steering wheel as input controller, map buttons and pots). its a lot to explain in this video, so here is the link to the github page where you will find all the details about the mmjoy and arduino setup, github.com/MMjoy/mmjoy_en/wiki

I cant understand how to 270 degree potentiometer convert to 900 degree. Pls make a clean video for it. Thanx
use 2 gears, one larger with 54 teeth on the pot and another small one with 15 teeth on the steering shaft, when the small gear turns 3 times , the larger one turns 1 time, thus you can convert 270 deg to 900 deg

@@kafikent7375 I'm not sure it will work, maybe try it, the gear mechanism is also for the end stop of steering wheel.
