You're the man, ZiggyD, I followed your instructions on reddit to monetize my videos and Chris Wilson gave me the go ahead. Thanks so much :) Great vid by the way.
Small tip from my experience - (you can equip 2 sets of weapons/shields) - use the second weapon slots to hold items from your inventory to free up space to continue farming.
I believe I was farming Cruel and I was about level 55, so very overlevelled. It's a good example to illustrate the points as I still got some decent currency :)
I typically farm western forest in cruel for a few levels at least. A lot of builds hit a bit of a wall in act 2 cruel because thats when things start to get a lot harder in terms of incoming damage. You may have to spend a bit of time really trying to improve your gear if you want to proceed.
If you save up a full set of rares you can vendor them together for a chaos orb, I made a video on it a bit back. Alternatively trade them to other players or vendor them for shards.
While your last statement is true because the relative amount of currency to other items shifts increasing quantity will still see an increase in the amount of currency see. What that does mean though is as the penalty gets higher you need to stack relatively more quantity to counteract it. For example, at -50% currency drop penalty you may need to stack 100% extra quantity to see the same overall amount of currency you would have gotten without the penalty (just an example - not accurate).
Hey man, this build was my recent 'build of the week', a 2H sword shadow. There are a few guides to levelling it and what it looks like at higher levels on my channel! It's a very challenging build to level though so might not be the best choice for beginners.
Hi ZiggyD, as always very nice Video. Item Quantity does NOT affect Map Drop in Maps, neither does Group Size, only the Map Modifier does. It does allthough increase the Drop Rate in the normal Acts (e.g. farming Docks)
Hey guys, sorry for the delay on content, this video took around 8 hours to upload! The quality should be a little nicer at least, haha. I've been wanting to start get some more serious guides out on farming and gameplay mechanics in addition to my build of the week and beginners series. Hopefully you guys who have been looking for some deeper analysis style stuff get something out of this!
glad to see i'm not alone then! :) i got 3 separate 5 socket chest pieces, one of which is a nice plus resistance to all 3 elements, but it's hard to roll the right colors and links :( wasted bout 20 chromatics and 14 fusings before giving up yesterday
Nope freeze kills are as per normal! Rare mobs also have a chance to drop nothing so you were just unlucky on that one. However, damage over time effects aren't currently working with increased quantitiy modifiers from gear or support gems. So poison clouds, burning and vipers strikes etc can sometimes result in lesser loot!
Depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you want one end game character then save up your high level currency (chaos and above). However, I need to level a lot of new builds to give guides on them so I don't hesitate to spend them on crafting or trading for good levelling gear.
4L on gloves/boots/helmets and 5L or 6sockets on chests and 2H weapons. I don't bother with checking links on 1H weapons as it's easy to get 3L weapons. People don't really need or want 3L and they will rarely buy 4L but 5L and 6L are in very high demand. Of course, while you are levelling you should just be picking up whatever gear has the specific links you need.
Hit up the notes in the description if you just want the facts. With the video I was trying to provide further insight into design and player mindsets etc.
I love this series! I have a question about farming though, does freezing mobs and then shattering them affect the drops? I noticed I froze and shattered a few rare mobs, and they dropped nothing
Ziggy, when do you consider a normal item to have good-enough links to pick up? I've got a bunch of normals with three linked sockets (with or without additional unlinked ones), will people want those?
In your video you say the drop penalty can be corrected by increasing item quantity, but item quantity increases the number of items dropping not the chance of currency dropping. So if Im experiencing a -20% drop rate of currency and equip 20% item quantity, I will recieve 20% more items still experience a -20% drop rate of currency, right?
`question: ive been getting a lot of rares lately and i was just wondering if its better to trade npcs for them since i dont use and/or dont want any of them
My clues that this is an old video: 1) Ziggy looks different 2) He didn't use a fancy green screen 3) Way portal looks way different 4) Date of video Noticed in that order.
I always start on HC league, though where I end up is a different story, haha. Because I want to get out weekly build guides I keep playing my HC characters in default for a while after (if/when) they die.
I'd go western forest if it's safe enough for you, large quantity of mobs and quick runs. It's much faster than Fellshrine, just more dangerous is all.
Ziggy, appreciate your vids mate, LOVING this game. I have one question though? You've probably answered this in another video and if so please link it for me otherwise... I'm having trouble understanding how to link what, if I choose to play as a Marauder and want magic find, do I put that in "armour" or must it be in my crown? Like for instance, I think you are using lightning strike and fork in this video right do those gems end up in your wand or can it be anywhere else? Hope this makes sense.
Skills can go anywhere but they must be linked to the support gems you want to have affect them. So if you want a skill with improved magic find you link an attack or spell to "Increased item Rarity" support gem. A setup could be like this: Split Arrow -- Item Rarity -- Culling Strike -- Faster Attacks All linked together in your boots. Other magic find can be rolled as the affixes on gear, like gold rings and amulets for example.
is there a good way to see if the item is worth saving for the chaos recepie? I don't really get how it works and how to see if the item is worth saving for that recepie.. can you help clear that out?
Thanks, I was hoping there was something easier to see the itemlevel instead of typing to check each individual item.. why don't they show the itemlevel by default?
how does the item rarity gem work do you just put it on a blue socket and it increase the item rarity of items or does it need to be linked to an attack and when you kill someone with that ability then the rarity gem affects the item
+ZiggyD Gaming So if say a mob is killed by the AOE damage from Ice herald but still triggered by my split arrow, and the split arrow is the one linked to item rarity, do i still get the increase?
Zarie Andrei if the HoI explosion gets the kill then your split arrow rarity wont be applied. You could link rarity to HoI at no additional cost if you have the socket :D
ugh. that sucks cuz i love poison arrow and burning arrow, and no doubt the DOT kills some mobs i'm trying to farm :( Also, around what level do you kinda stop progressing, and start farming? i seem to hit a wall in act 2 of cruel.... farming felshrine but even that's hard.
Hey man, this was a 2H sword shadow that I made a video guide for so you can just find it on my channel! Or search "path of exile 2H sword melee shadow" and it should come up.
Only a little bit of incidental rarity, I think I have around 20%. Rare belts and jewellery are always uncommon but the gods of RNG may be being extra cruel to you.
i dont know if they try to hook in new players, but I got a unique crude bow on my 1st character at around lvl 10 and I created whole new character to us that bow
That's not true, the level penalty only applies to currency drops. pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Drop_Rate Why you are commenting this on multiple videos of mine without researching your claim first I'll never understand.

Once you get to the high 20s and beyond, most players specifically start a build dedicated to one or two skills to maximise damage output and/or survivability.
Yeah i've learnt that, i'd literally only just started the game after my friend from WoW had told me about it. I use a Ranger now and i mainly use Ice Shot, and its brilliant because my class is built to use it and own things :P
Once you have an idea of what your build is gonna be, this game becomes insanely addicting. Once you complete the game on Normal mode, try making a buzzsaw Scion. Ziggy did a video on it I think :P
It used to be that any full set of rare items returned a chaos orb. Nowadays all rares have to be over level 60 for it to work so it's a bit harder.
Love the PoE videos you have been pumping out so far.
You have prolonged my interest in this game, just as you did with D3.
Keep it up :)
You're the man, ZiggyD, I followed your instructions on reddit to monetize my videos and Chris Wilson gave me the go ahead. Thanks so much :)
Great vid by the way.
Hmm, I suspected as much. Thanks for taking the time to answer all these questions!
Awesome Plexi! Glad to have helped out a fellow PoE brotuber.

jeez, this is some vintage ziggy right here
ctrl click to retract an offer as for buying pretty sure you have to pick up and manually drop in your inventory
If you save up a full set of rares you can vendor them together for a chaos orb, I made a video on it a bit back. Alternatively trade them to other players or vendor them for shards.
Ah it was the map drops outside of maps I was wondering about, thanks!

Cool thanks will do that! Multiple projectile dogs in the docks is a bit too scary for safe farming.
Yes in the way of the triple linked sockets. The orb drop is kinda rare for some reason.
Depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you want one end game character then save up your high level currency (chaos and above). However, I need to level a lot of new builds to give guides on them so I don't hesitate to spend them on crafting or trading for good levelling gear.

ctrl click either a doorway or a waypoint in the WP menu.
This might be a bit late on the news, but i did find that maps do drop a bit more frequently while i was grinding Fellshrine with a party
Thanks for the helpful PoE videos.
Do you wait until end game to use orbs for improving items?
ty. i just started the game and this was really helpful!
still been useful
2H Sword Shadow, there are a couple of levelling recaps and a build guide on my channel a bit back :) It was a tough build to level though.
I love this series! I have a question about farming though, does freezing mobs and then shattering them affect the drops? I noticed I froze and shattered a few rare mobs, and they dropped nothing
Ranged is definitely easier for farming. Either bow user or caster is fine!
Yeah Gold rings and amulets have base item rarity mods on them and can roll IIR and IIR as mods.
Ziggy, when do you consider a normal item to have good-enough links to pick up? I've got a bunch of normals with three linked sockets (with or without additional unlinked ones), will people want those?
On that note, do you know the command for buying from vendor or retract a item from the Sell window?
How did you get that chaos orb at the end?? I saw you putting like the item rarity necklace and 2 resistance rings, does that make a chaos orb??
Thanks for the info ZiggyD Gaming.
How do I deal with desync with skills like cyclone? (I'll check out your other vids to see if you address this).
is that one of the endgame maps cos the ledge im doing is low level... how do you access it for future referance
thanks for reading and for any help
At level 70 what area would you recommend for currency farming? Docks is a bit dangerous, should I go fellshrine?
In your video you say the drop penalty can be corrected by increasing item quantity, but item quantity increases the number of items dropping not the chance of currency dropping. So if Im experiencing a -20% drop rate of currency and equip 20% item quantity, I will recieve 20% more items still experience a -20% drop rate of currency, right?
Hey Ziggy. May I know what level and difficulty were you in in this video?
`question: ive been getting a lot of rares lately and i was just wondering if its better to trade npcs for them since i dont use and/or dont want any of them
Hey Zigg! What class and build is this? I'm kinda new to this game..
My clues that this is an old video:
1) Ziggy looks different
2) He didn't use a fancy green screen
3) Way portal looks way different
4) Date of video
Noticed in that order.
+Kevin Leugan your detective skills are on point sir haha
+Kevin Leugan Also look at the kudoku boss xD
How're you shift+clicking items from your inv to the vendor, and then your currency items from your inv to your stash?
I always start on HC league, though where I end up is a different story, haha.
Because I want to get out weekly build guides I keep playing my HC characters in default for a while after (if/when) they die.
I mention in the video that I'm farming a lower level area in this video for currency. This build was actually pretty difficult to level.
hey zig can u pls share the build of this character? im totally new to the game and the passives and gems are causing me a great problem
Hello, ZiggyD,
I love your videos, but it would be awesome if you could have a more get-to-the-point approach.
Keep up the good work.
can you do a guide on that build? it seems really fun
This was a very helpful video thank you :)
I'd go western forest if it's safe enough for you, large quantity of mobs and quick runs. It's much faster than Fellshrine, just more dangerous is all.
It worked! U got me inspired! :D
Are you stacking item rarity in that video? I can barely get any rares(gotten 0 rare belts throughout cruel, act 1 merciless).
ZiggyD Gaming Good Lord you are fast on the reply :) OK, cool thank you.
SSCLAN6
My pleasure mate! if you have any more q's let me know and I'll try my best to get to answering them :)
Sounds good man! I have TONS more :) Sorry, noob in me shining out here, I will send a PM on twitter if you don't mind?
SSCLAN6
Twitter is character-limited ;) better off asking here or on other relevant videos!
How does he open the option screen to open a new instance of the map??? anyone reply please thanks
what menu did he use at 2:25
is there a good way to see if the item is worth saving for the chaos recepie? I don't really get how it works and how to see if the item is worth saving for that recepie.. can you help clear that out?
pick it up on your mouse cursor and type /itemlevel into the chat
If it's above 60 then it can go towards the chaos orb recipe.
Thanks, I was hoping there was something easier to see the itemlevel instead of typing to check each individual item.. why don't they show the itemlevel by default?
So as to not confuse players (mainly newer ones) with item level vs required level.
how does the item rarity gem work do you just put it on a blue socket and it increase the item rarity of items or does it need to be linked to an attack and when you kill someone with that ability then the rarity gem affects the item
The latter - you must kill an enemy with the linked skill. It's often paired with culling strike for this reason.
+ZiggyD Gaming So if say a mob is killed by the AOE damage from Ice herald but still triggered by my split arrow, and the split arrow is the one linked to item rarity, do i still get the increase?
Zarie Andrei
if the HoI explosion gets the kill then your split arrow rarity wont be applied. You could link rarity to HoI at no additional cost if you have the socket :D
Thanks mate!
Does the penality work backward? I mean do you get more currency on higher level areas?
Nah, no bonus for farming higher level zones.
when u say set u mean full armour set with weapon?
ugh. that sucks cuz i love poison arrow and burning arrow, and no doubt the DOT kills some mobs i'm trying to farm :(
Also, around what level do you kinda stop progressing, and start farming? i seem to hit a wall in act 2 of cruel.... farming felshrine but even that's hard.
Hey man, this was a 2H sword shadow that I made a video guide for so you can just find it on my channel! Or search "path of exile 2H sword melee shadow" and it should come up.
Any currency can drop anywhere in Path of Exile! You can find an Exalted orb on the first beach if you are lucky.
i dont know for the mirror but i got Orb of Regret from the 4th or 5th mob in the game on normal, it was before the open beta tho.
Are there gems or amulets that increase item quantity?
How can i go about boxing this game?...runing 3 accounts with 1 pc?
Only a little bit of incidental rarity, I think I have around 20%. Rare belts and jewellery are always uncommon but the gods of RNG may be being extra cruel to you.
can chromatic orbs drop in ledge on normal?
Haha I don't see it but I am a big A7X fan! RIP Rev.
Item quantity still exist? Im level 30 and i haven't see that bonus yet.
Only in Standard and Hardcore league at the moment. It's pretty much being removed from the game moving forward.
ZiggyD Gaming
Thanks mate! I love how u reply the comments even if video is like 1 year old!
That build looks really cool, would you care to go through it a bit. Skill tree perhaps ? :P
Pick up any item that has red, blue, and green linked and sell it to a vendor. It will give you a Chromatic Orb.
where can i find item quantity gem or increase rarity?
if u are talking about stats, its on yuor misc table on the character screen. It will only show if u have item rarity or quantity items equiped.
this guy looks like Frankie Muniz! hi frankie!!
What build is this?
It's just the ledge on cruel difficulty ;)
Is lvl 68 still considered max on this day?
+Ilyak1986 Yep 68 is still considered max
what about today? still considered max? xD
ATK Beatz
yep!
when you say currency, do you mean anything dropped from kills or opening chests, crates, barrels, etc?
i dont know if they try to hook in new players, but I got a unique crude bow on my 1st character at around lvl 10 and I created whole new character to us that bow
You just got pretty lucky! Silverbranch is really nice for leveling with Poison Arrow :)
How to get rich in PoE : Go to a lvl 74 map and pick up all white rings, belts, and amulets.
Sell them for 3-4chaos each.
Profit.
WTB ZiggyD swag for 100 monies xD
Farming with only 1 quicksilver flask? I use 2 minimum
I found alchemy orb in first area
I found a chaos orb on the first zombie of the first location!!!!!
So item quantity is useless in maps right ?
How do you click items over to the vendor without dragging?
Hold ctrl then left-click
thank you
ty
this video was useful.....but i still dont know how to farm fusing orbs...still not a complete waste of time though....
ctrl+click ;)
Yung Ziggy
Just email ggg. That's basically it, I got a quick email back giving me permission.
"q" "w" "space"
me: ewww
FAIL!
The number of uniques goes down the higher the level difference between you and the mob!
That's not true, the level penalty only applies to currency drops.

Why you are commenting this on multiple videos of mine without researching your claim first I'll never understand.
I watched this vid for 5min and you still didn't get into any "How to's." You repeat the same things over again.
Just get to the facts and leave out all the fluff.
You are just unlucky mate! lol
its actually the truth lmfao
Lel
Man i watch this vid for 2 minutes and all i hear is basic stuff... Cant u just skip to ur actual point? TL:DW
i hope it was a joke...
you talk about currency, there is no gold in game no moneys.. trade and barter system is what it is
Lorraine Surie-Lumzer Currency, by definition, means something that is generally accepted or in use. It can be anything (bottle caps, gold, crafting materials pieces of paper) - so long as it is generally accepted as a medium of trade.
That, and that the developers categorize orbs as currency. ;)
I know all this it is why i said no moneys it is a trade and barter system. I have collected so many orbs, gems, transmorgs things like that. It can be traded or bartered for better gear or thing needed. I am not good at these things just started playing this game 2 weeks ago. Been asking people for help and hints but to know avail its been a bummer.
ZiggyD Gaming Look how reserved you were, now you're melting off your chair when you get DD'ed. Get 'em Ziggy!
It woyld be great if people were nicer in the game instead of chatting shite about doing drugs and crap. I have asked for help to learn the game but no one is helpful.
I like the whole currency system in this game. however the endgame grinding process is really outdated, i cant progress unless i invest hundreds of chaos to get 75 maps so i can even level my character, why are mapdrops not being increased? and put a level cap on zones with item drops. a minimum set for loot tables based on zone level? now when you go level up to 80+ you will be stuck unless you have friends to help you out with 75 maps, i cant farm 20 hours a day just to get to the point where i can progress my character for 10 minutes? its kinda stupid, why not update this? diablo 3 has and its alot better now for it. And with the minimum level loot table, i wont find lvl 2 uniques that are entirely garbage and have 20 off in my stash, its really outdated and unlogical to get lvl 1 uniques from a lvl 75 zone honestly.
So erm, you only use one skill lol
Once you get to the high 20s and beyond, most players specifically start a build dedicated to one or two skills to maximise damage output and/or survivability.
Yeah i've learnt that, i'd literally only just started the game after my friend from WoW had told me about it. I use a Ranger now and i mainly use Ice Shot, and its brilliant because my class is built to use it and own things :P
Once you have an idea of what your build is gonna be, this game becomes insanely addicting. Once you complete the game on Normal mode, try making a buzzsaw Scion. Ziggy did a video on it I think :P
+Feisty Fox82 tornado shot has avoided the nerf nukes ggg has been dropping. on items.its a pretty op ranger skill and has a ton of builds.
