      Most of the world eats eggs as an ingredient, not 4 eggs on a plate at a sitting. Eggs are not a healthy food, but people love to believe good things about their bad habits. Not to discount processed foods like potato chips, becasue they are a big problem, but 4 eggs a day? Sorry, Berg is not following the science.

      @Hydroart We are not our ancestors. They were constantly on the move and fasted as a consequence. And they sure weren't eating 4 eggs everyday. We are not active, we are sedentary and think we can just eat whatever we feel like. Tell me, what was the life expectency of your ancestors? Facts are facts, there really is no disputing. You are welcome to an opinion like everyone else, but the science shows eggs to be an unhealthy choice. Whole plants are what we were made to eat. Enjoy your saturated fat laden, cholesterol filled omelette, I'm sure you are the exception.

    I'm 69. A year ago I was suffering from high BP and cholesterol was 220. Arthritis of the back and hands. Bursitis of the shoulder from a lifetime of heavy construction. I had dermatitis, prostatitis and ED. No energy and depression from having to deal with all of this. Thanks to mostly Dr Berg's advice I lost 40 lbs. Cholesterol is now 162. Triglycerides are 39. Dermatitis, ED and depression gone. Arthritis and bursitis barely noticeable. Energy through the roof. I'm back to working everyday fixing up my properties. I don't eat 4 eggs a day and after watching Dr Esselstyn and this thing about TMAO I'm on the fence about going vegan or not but I don't think we should demean Dr Berg's work because he has done a lot of good for a lot of people.

      And cholesterol is essential as it’s used to make hormones in the body! It also is essential for a healthy brain.
      This guy is just dumb. I’ve literally eaten 5 eggs in the morning every day since I was a child. I’m very healthy. They have so many essential nutrients for the body.
      People think cholesterol is the reason for diseases because it’s high when you have strokes and heart attacks, but that’s only because it acts as a Band-Aid to help heal damaged tissues and other things. It’s a good way to actually tell if you will have a stroke or heart attack but it isn’t the cause.
      Id like to know if all his info is based on hormone filled chickens 🤷🏼‍♀️

    The man doesn't eat carbohydrates or sugar ever. The study you linked to doesn't even take this things into account, it only takes things such as saturated fat intake, smoking history,... Into account. Sugar mentioned zero times. Which is a bit strange seeing how it's sugar that glycates LDL and damages arthery lining therefore allowing LDL to build up inside foam cells in arteries. Dr. Berg is also recommending a keto (so sugar-free) diet and intermittent fasting, not just munching on eggs. Don't cherrypick one advice and think you've bested him.

    I can't believe you did a video on a topic you know so little about! You start with a conclusion and work backwards, you give new meaning to "Logical Fallacies" and "Cognitive Dissonance" I've been a fitness professional for 3 decades and have routinely eaten 5-10 whole eggs a day, I'm 52 years old, 112 kg, 16% body fat, PSA of a 20 year old, cholesterol normal to low always, the only time it goes a little high is when I increase my carb intake significantly, I don't do any cardio, and only lift weights. Resting pulse 64 beats a minute, Blood pressure 132/78. My grandfather and Uncle died from complications related to prostate cancer. Whenever I get athletes ready for shows and their body fat % drops well into single digits, their cholesterol plummets, I have seen readings 3 times below the measurable range, and this is when the cholesterol intake is 5-10 times the "RDA" The reason this is because when your carbs are restricted your insulin will be low. Insulin is a protagonist to HMG CoA Reductase, which is critical to cholesterol production, which is how statins work, they interfere with HMG CoA Reductase activity. You have no idea what you're talking about, the studies you cite are either fallacious or fraught with inconsistencies, most are not double blind, and there are way too many variables to get any type of accurate data! I and my athletes do eat carbs, my goal is to build lean muscular athletes, and being low carb or doing intermittent fasting is not beneficial to muscle mass and maintaining an elevated metabolism, if I had people that were just trying to improving their health metric and increase longevity, I would go a similar route to Dr Berg! Wrong you are!

    To be fair even most medical doctors have VERY little understanding of diet/nutrition by their own admission, which is tragic but true. So Dr Berg not being an MD really does not credit or discredit him in my book. To Dr Berg credit the University of Harvard found no link between egg consumption and heart disease, a study that Mic continues to ignore although I think they only used three eggs a day not 4 to 5. Too much of anything can be dangerous clearly. But this study is very relevant because it was not funded by any activist group or food industry.

      Structurally, almost everything in your body is made up of Protein / Fat, not Carbohydrate. Protein is critical to many enzymatic functions in the body. Bone is made of mostly Protein (Collagen) and Minerals. If you are protein Deficient, your bones will be weak and compromised. If your Digestion is compromised, you cannot absorb Vitamins and Minerals from food effectively, requiring your body to break down bone and take minerals from it to maintain Metabolic functions. Overtime, the body degrades. It doesn't happen over night.
      Bodily tissue is made of Protein and Fat. Many people are rushed to the hospital for Protein deficiency - we've just never called it that.

    I'm 29 years old and for what it's worth, I spent most of my life exercising (high endurance, high intensity, resistance training with and without weights, circuits, walking everywhere, exercising at least every day), fasting (intermittent and prolonged, including intense exercise, 0 calories, just black coffee and water), eating clean non processed foods (heavy in animal protein and some fat, but good sources, chicken, eggs, liver, yoghurt and my plant foods have been potatoes, broccoli, blueberries and oatmeal), taking supplements, no commitments, workin part time, lots of stress management and recently I've started having pain and pressure in the left side of my chest, that hasn't gone away, no matter what I've tried, but then recently I came across a video series by a youtuber called Plant Chompers who used to be an Earth scientist, showing a compilation of all these health influencers who were either low carb animal based dieters or plant based dieters, and the majority of those animal based dieters died on average well within their 70s whereas the plant based dieters were living into their 90s and 100s, which compelled me to try vegan and lo and behold, after a 2 day fast and refeeding on legumes, grains and nuts, my symptoms have dramatically decreased, in just 4 days total, and I can only feel a little pressure in my chest from time to time, so out of curiosity, I decided to eat one small piece of lamb liver and one egg, very nutritious animal foods, boiled in a pan of water, the pressure and discomfort in my chest came back and didn't subside until after 2 days of going without. If that doesn't say enough, I don't know what does.

    Pro athletes and college athletes may typically consume 4+ eggs per day; it is designed to assist in building muscle during training. Weight lifting - same. Getting your body 'cut' - same. No longer a pro player or needing to build muscle? Then stop the high consumption of eggs. I've been around this behavior for about 40 years on and off - hasn't changed. Don't need any research, cuz I can look around and see the behavior followed by the desired results on many different individuals. Dr. Eric does speak some truth, always with a grain of salt.

I have lost 2 dress sizes in 6 months. I can't eat gluten, and grains anger my intestines. I can't touch sugars.. including alcohol. This is the story of My Body. Everybody is different, I think. Mic! You’ve done it again my man. I’m so embarrassed to admit this, but I was a dr. Berg follower last year. Against my gut intuition I took the steep dive into keto-ism. I had a lot of success with more of a Whole Foods plant based diet approach in the past and felt uneasy about keto. But I was having blood sugar issues so I hopped aboard the crazy train because there were 3 people in my family recommending him and 1 of my friends.
    While doing keto I was able to lower my A1C out of the prediabetic range, however, my c reactive protein was so high (12!) that my naturopath was at a loss for words.
    Not only that, but it completely threw off my entire cycle and hormones. I am currently still trying to figure out if I have PCOS or endometriosis one year later. all of these symptoms that began AFTER doing dr. Berg’s version of keto.

    I would be filled with constant dread. Fortunately I found the work of Esselstyn, Ornish, and Barnard. I switched over to full vegan and lost at the same rate, but in less than 2 weeks my angina and high blood sugar were gone.
    Fell off the wagon for almost 6 months following a hernia surgery. Been a struggle to get back on. The diet is inching down again from 320. I have a struggle with binging. I have to avoid gas stations and driving past certain buffets. Sounds dramatic but you're talking to someone who can eat lunch and still be very tempted to go to a chinese buffet right after. Think the American breakfast diet. Adding eggs to my diet (no processed foods, no refined sugars, high amounts of organic plants, mainly pescatarian diet) raises testosterone significantly. In fact I went to the doctor and got my normal blood check up and he told me I need more cholesterol in my diet and aside from that my blood levels were great. Quail eggs are great for you too. I was full vegan for a while but have found eggs are beneficial to a human diet (when sourced properly)

    First off dr berg talks about Eating Whole Foods, organic non processed food, 7-10 cups of veggies a day. There has been thousands of studies showing the ketogenic diet is one of the healthiest diets out there and he does cite and show facts on his videos. Millions of people have fixed their health using his advice When Doing keto correctly as in not just living on bacon and eggs and eating all the recommended veggies and healthy fats. Eggs and fats only get dangerous when you are consuming them with refined carbs. And your stat about 48% protein a day from eggs wouldn’t be accurate because a ketogenic diet is 75% fat, 20% protein and 5% carbs, so what you are referring to is not the ketogenic diet. I would suggest you go back to the nearest hipster pup you came from and get your facts strait before making a debunk video. Refined carbs are horrible. Eat good healthy fats avocados, bacon eggs and avoid sugar at all cost, get your carbs from salads and veggies and you will live a long healthy life. Intermittent fast also people. Don’t listen to this guy. I have seen healthy people remain healthy, diabetics cured, and hypertension cured in weeks from the ketogenic diet. Also back to the egg thing, he also says to buy free range farm raised organic eggs. Not the junk. Whole Foods people. It’s really not that hard.

    • @daviddelguercio8458
      @daviddelguercio8458 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Mediterranean diet is a good diet when done right and eating Whole Foods. Like I said most people who do keto don’t do it correctly. They live on cheese and meat and forget they need massive amounts of veggies. There is a healthy keto and unhealthy keto. Just like there is a healthy Mediterranean and unhealthy Mediterranean (living on breads). With that said I haven’t seen a single article saying keto is unhealthy, I have seen overwhelming evidence of its healing and bettering of health. The only negative thing I have see is “it’s hard to maintain” which is absolutely correct, it is hard to maintain and takes a lot of will power. But when paired with intermittent fasting it’s easier. I think also with all of this everyone’s body is different. Some will respond to different diets differently. I think one thing we can all agree on is.
      1. Sugar is bad
      2. Refined carbs are bad
      3. Eating more than 3 meals a day and snacking is bad

    Hey all! I’m a former patient of Dr. Berg! I went to his clinic around 2012 because I have had alopecia since I was ten years old. Much of his advice had to do with serious stress management therapies and eating SO MUCH MEAT/EGGS/FATS. I wasn’t vegan or even vegetarian at the time but even then I felt like it didn’t feel good in my body. I have to say, my hair did grow back following his protocol but I think that had more to do with the stress management and reducing inflammation by just eating a more “clean” unprocessed diet in general.
    It’s hard for me to think of him as an evil guy with evil intentions. All I can say is that at the time when I knew him he seemed to entirely believe what he was saying. He also was extremely attentive and had great bedside manner. The fact that it’s not backed by science? Well, not too surprising. I always take chiropractors with a grain of salt.... but I take MDs with a grain of salt these days too.
    He seems to have picked up arms in this battle on the side of the meat eaters and knowing how he views diet and “fuel burning” I’m not surprised. People get stuck on ideas. We’re all guilty of that at one time or another. Challenging what we’ve thought we knew to be true is hard! But I dunno what I’m saying here. I appreciate guys like Mic who can give us some science to help us see truths and make our own choices. If Dr. Berg is the man I thought he was I can only hope he’ll watch this video and learn something!
    Thanks Mic 🙏🏽

Let’s maintain some respect in the comments people. I just wanted to share that I actually knew the man. And hopefully Mic can educate him to like he has educated me.

      Deee Bee no worries! Thanks for asking! My alopecia has been at bay since 2012 with no other serious issues. I was entirely bald since ten and then after learning about cutting out processed foods it’s been growing constantly ever since with no issues. I grew up in Louisiana eating meat, gumbo, fried chicken... even our vegetable dishes have meat, oil, lard, butter, cheese on everything! I only started learning about plant based about a year ago and have been making the transition slowly. It’s been hard because I end up with a lot of stomach issues so it’s been kind of trial and error. Plant based has been by far the one way of eating that helps the most with inflammation and inflammation has seemed to have been the cause of most of my autoimmune problems. So, dr berg at the very least led me to a healthier state than I had been in, even if still not the healthiest. Mic’s videos have educated me more on my autoimmune issues and plant based eating than any doctor (or chiropractor, lol) I’ve had over the years. I just keep watching and learning keep pushing forward!

    I’ve been following Dr. Berg for a while. This gives me a lot of food for thought on at least some of his claims. Your arguments are very well researched, and now that you mention it, that is something Dr.Berg could afford to do more of: citing. Thanks for sharing.
    To be clear, I still agree with much of what he has to say. He primarily advocates for intermittent fasting and a low-carb/ketogenic approach. He promotes leafy greens and healthy supplements like MCT oil, wheat grass powder (for green smoothies), etc. Nonetheless, I will be sure to fact check his specific recommendations from here-on-in.

    This is another cherry picking excursion by mic. I just looked up Harvard health to see what they say about eggs. That sounds a little more trustworthy than studies compiled by mic the vegan.
    "A. From what we know today, here's the bottom line: for most people, an egg a day does not increase your risk of a heart attack, a stroke, or any other type of cardiovascular disease. No more than three eggs per week is wise if you have diabetes, are at high risk for heart disease from other causes (such as smoking), or already have heart disease."
    Another clue here is that the centenarians of the Loma Linda Seventh Day Adventists, the largest single group of centenarians in the world, eat about 5 percent eggs in their diet, along with 10 percent dairy. Amazing they could survive it all and still be the longest lived group of people in the world, they must have amazing genes.
    Actually, as far as Dr. Berg goes, I think he has the safest keto plan of the bunch. He recommends 5 cups of vegetables per day. I'm not saying it's a diet I would choose, but I hope keto dieters listen to him rather than the actual medical doctor who prescribes a carnivore diet. The point is, people lose weight on his diet, and bmi is still the best predictor of overall health barring weight lost from sickness. Is he going to die of a heart attack. No, he isn't mic. He's fifty, bmi normal and probably getting the necessary nutrients. He would say if he had high blood pressure, which is a pretty safe measure. He also looks really good for being in his fifties.

    • @fku9697
      @fku9697 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No he does not. He looks very old for his age. Skinny and wrinkled. He's aged pretty bad after jumping on keto bandwagon

    • @fire7side
      @fire7side 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fku9697 Well, the main point here is that mic's statistics are cherry picked. I cited a public health body which gave their opinion after studying all the studies. Yeah, he's high compared to the one egg per day which doesn't affect heart disease, but it's hard to say what the effect of that will be. The SSA Loma Lindans eat 5 percent eggs which would be close to 2 eggs per day on a 2500 calorie diet and they are the longest lived group of people in the world and have the highest number of centenarians. We should all look for other sources and do our own research. I think he looks fine for his age, but I wouldn't eat that diet because I believe whole grains and beans are important to our diets and it's an expensive solution just to lose weight, because most people on that diet are doing it to lose weight. It's better than being obese, and if that's the best they can do, then it will be a benefit to them, but I don't believe for a minute it will increase their lifespan compared to someone eating a truly balanced, whole food diet.

    There are no meaningful studies that suggest cholesterol is bad for you. Especially uncontrolled questionaire surveys that you're listing about cholesterol. Your body already makes as much as 3000 mg of cholesterol a day, and because our bodies are so amazing and adaptive, when you consume healthy sources of dietary cholesterol, your body produces less of it to achieve homeostasis, while giving your liver a break. Stop spreading misinformation that dietary cholesterol is bad for your. Generalization isn't healthy. I eat 8 eggs on an almost daily basis, and that is completely normal and healthy. Also whole grains can contribute to heart disease if we use your notion of generalization, we can say since most human beings consume to many grains, and most of them in today's world are highly processed, he is correct, grains, carbs, refined foods are the biggest cause of heart disease since insulin resistance is responsible for the vast majority of disease. That also goes for high blood pressure, not dietary cholesterol or salt. And I wont bother citing studies until I see actual meaning research that these foods are bad for your health. On top of that, pasture- raised organic eggs have a far higher omega 3 fatty acid content then commercially produced eggs, which in turn regulates causation for chronic disease.

To be fair I move around alot,excersise alot,so maybe that is why total cholesterol is good. But so far it seems that is BS myth if you eat alot of egg yolks gonna have bad cholesterol levels.
