    As usual great video, appreciate the effort you put into advacacting for esports, I am 45 and I absolutely love competing in the virtual world!

    Ive tried the ‘competitive’ mode a few times in onward, only to find empty lobbies. Am I doing something wrong? My first experience was awesome in casual mode - playing with ex mil guys….only to be disappointed by the following weeks of only finding lobbies filled with youngsters. Don’t get me wrong - I know we all start somewhere…but I’d rather play with guys that wanna strategise and communicate properly.

      The competitive _mode_ in Onward isn't representative of the competitive scene. There are some good comp lobbies that go up sometimes, but by and large the competitive experience is found by playing in league matches/scrims/etc.

    I literally abandoned (haha.. if you know you know) everything pancake gaming since I stated playing competitive in VR. Heck I even sold my PS5 😂
    Playing Onward with my team is the best time I had in a long time.

      It is so much more interesting than pancake gaming.

    Gun raiders is amazing, dude. It needs to get some mainstream love because we have some amazing players, and all of the teams we just need attention from some big orgs.

    • @ThetaVR
      @ThetaVR  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never played it, but I've heard it's a good game. Do you have any resources I could take a look at that might give me a lowdown of the scene?

    As always great information Theta! The amazing thing about VR is it works for everyone, no matter what age or gender you are. The watching and being in a movie analogy is a perfect explanation of VR, which I may steal when I am trying to explain ti to people lol. I have been in VR for a number of years now and may not be one of the best players on the scene, but have had and still having a bunch of fun playing competitively and casually with friends 👍

    I would love to play onward competitively but I can’t find a team and I also have to many commitments to worry about to be able to try to go pro. Looks really fun tho

    I was in a gold team for Echo VR VRML, sadly we shut down due to Echo VR closing. But boy do I miss the days of recording matches and going over them with my team, the laughs, the trash talk, all of it. We all got together for the first time to play echo since we disbanded before echo VR fully shuts down and I almost cried (and I am not an emotional person) over just all the nostalgia and good times we had together. I still compete to this day but man do I miss the days of being good at it.

    As someone who has and is competitive in multiple vr games (onward, gun raiders, contractors) that this is the next big thing that people can have a shot and as you mentioned hasn’t been monopolized so much which leaves room for people to make it to the top. I joined the gun raiders competitive scene when there was still people like hellraiser and ToastyOven (black mafia and mercs) I was still able to make it to the top and so did people like gooberbot, solo32 (ex #1 larcenauts player) and bottlecapman who were able to become the best in their own right, case in point join vr esports before it gains so much traction that it’s a over monopolized media in which it’ll be hard to get in

    Nock is so addictive! Easy to learn, hard to master. Once the player base improves, I see it being one of the top competitive VR game.

    • @ThetaVR
      @ThetaVR  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. Nock is one of the most physically demanding VR games I've ever played and represents a true fusion between sports and gaming.

    Yet again, another phenomenal video, Theta.
    This is exactly why I try to get my buddies into VR, now at least instead of having a whole speech prepared, I'll just send them this video.
    The way I see it, with VR still being in its baby steps today and with what we already have is incredible, imagine where the world of VR will be tomorrow.

    I really hope companies start making more new standalone headsets that blow vr up, it’s annoying that we very rarely get a new vr headset that brings in lots and lots of new people. I am now a caster in the VRML and play for one of the top teams, it’s really annoying playing for nothing but enjoyment and to socialise without any real prize (unless you come first)

    Hey I was wondering if you plan on making an update to the load out video you made a while back. It was very useful for me and your videos have improved my understanding of the game a lot. But there have been a few big changes to the point system so I was wondering do the original choices still hold up?

    I think the only thing keeping comp vr from taking off is the lack of competitive vr games in general.

    • @ThetaVR
      @ThetaVR  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are a variety of factors, but that has historically been a big reason why.

    There’s a place called Zero Latency VR place. They are currently doing a esports competition where you do a zombie PVE with others that are there for that time slot. But it’s really a PVE/P because you need to get the top high score in your region to win a paid ticket to Las Vegas (I’m in Australia) and winner gets 15,000USB so like $26k AUD which is a lot of money. I just tried it once and I need to improve fast any tips you can give me to improve really fast?
