Actually Elvis was the first person to record this song back in 1957 for his Elvis' Christmas Album. It is a classic album. All the songs are great. The other big hit off that album was "Blue Christmas". I suggested before for Female Friday to do Ann Wilson's version of "Blue Christmas". Ann is one of the sisters from Heart.

I think everyone is mistaking this song for Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Two very different songs. Mariah covered Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and someone else mentioned Bruce Springsteen, but, again, he covered Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Just pointing that out. Also, for a good bluesy version of this song, Brian Setzer Orchestra covered this. Not as good as Elvis, but good all the same.

My dad is an Elvis fan and I grew up listening to this album every Christmas. Every year I listen to it when Christmas time comes around. It's my favorite time of the year and the first thing I do to get into the Christmas spirit is listen to this album. My country doesn't have any celebratory dates between now and Christmas, so I start making preparations in September, because at the beginning of November I put up the decorations.

Another suggestion for an Elvis Christmas song is "I'll Be Home For Christmas". Also, you've yet to react to one of his greatest love songs. I know Jay & Amber reacted to Bing Crosby's "White Christmas, but Elvis managed to put his own spin on the classic song, giving it a bit of an upbeat tempo. It's my second favorite version of the song. And my favorite movie soundtrack of his is from "Loving You". I fell in love with Elvis at the tender age of 4 (1957) ! My mother bought that album and would play it for me often. At the time, my favorite track was "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear". As I got older, I came to appreciate the other songs, my favorites being the title song "Loving You" and (my favorite to this day), "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You". I still have the album, and about 15 years ago, bought the CD to play in the car. It's still one of my favorite albums of all time.

This is Elvis' best Christmas song. It's my favorite and Elvis said it was his favorite in the sit-down sessions footage from the '68 TV Special. He was recording a Christmas album in 1957 and needed another song. Songwriters Leiber & Stoller, who songs include "Hound Dog" and "Jailhouse Rock," wrote this song within minutes and Elvis loved it.
Check out Bruce Springsteen’s take on “Santa Claus is Coming to Town!” It’s awesome. Another good one is John Cougar Mellencamp’s version of “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.”

This is Elvis' best Christmas song. It's my favorite and Elvis said it was his favorite in the sit-down sessions footage from the '68 TV Special. He was recording a Christmas album in 1957 and needed another song. Songwriters Leiber & Stoller, who songs include "Hound Dog" and "Jailhouse Rock," wrote this song within minutes and Elvis loved it.
