- After losing in the second round of the FIDE Grand Swiss 2023, GM Hans Moke Nieman was looking super-strong as he defeated GM Shamsiddin Vokhidov and GM Richard Rapport in the next two games. At 11:18 the game was pretty much over, but Hans had not expected Vidit to take back with a pawn à 8:56, blocking Hans' pieces. Queen takes or knight takes seemed way more natural.

@@bobbin_tv Believed so first too, but the game is then equalized at 10:25 again after a series of less than par moves by Vidit. Guess the final mistake was the queen excursion that deprived the defence of the king.

Vidit hits the clock in a way that doesn't make too much sound, or no sound at all. That's interesting
The observation is interesting too, perhaps the clocks should be engineered with a softer click. Can be distracting..
Shows respect in my view
There are advantages to hearing the clock. If you step away from your board to stretch your legs and look at other boards, the sound of your clock being hit brings you back to your game. Vidit puts his fingers on the opponent's side of the toggle and pushes his side with his thumb, dampening the sound. He is probably tired of the DGT toggle sound having heard it a million times.

Nope you do not see the point. I mean. You need to go and watch carefully how he reacted every time when he blundered. He plays the move, hit the clock, then something happened and he realizes he blundered. Then he keep looking opponent eyes with vehemence. But you know what, his opponent has no idea he blundered or not. Because nothing seems certain on the board. No hanging piece, no obvious attack. So that’s why he looked Vidit’s eyes all the time. He wants to know if Vidit knows he blundered. Most important point is: if a move is a blunder, and Hans knows it, Vidit definitely would know it, too. He is one of the top players, too.
@@izetassky Players are allowed to make blunders and not have their opponent immediately realize them. If you have an opinion about Hans cheating in the past I can respect that but all of this kind of emotional analysis and then trying to pass it off as proof that he's cheating is not just hateful it's ignorant and classic peanut gallery stuff. If you had a modicum of objective perspective you could be aware of the possibility that Vidit is completely aware that Hans had blundered but just doesn't show it, because he's not Hans Nieman, they are two different people.

Looks like Hans blundered twice and Vidit blundered away the winning position the first time, but not the second time. Doesn't seem like that great of a game by either player to be honest. Just less bad by Vidit.

They are playing on a chessboard without markings, but they can notate their moves effortlessly on the sheet. True GMs.....
even 1500's should be able to know which square is which, let alone titled players. it's one of those exercises you do with your coach to recognise which square is which, instantly.
I think Hans has a bit of ADHD. He appears at times to lose focus and concentration often leading to blunders or mistakes. He really needs to tighten his gameplay if he wants to get to 2700+
