But then you usually hear people say that chess is boring and it’s always a draw. This man pushed and pushed, yes that left him vulnerable and lost, but it was one of the most exciting games I’ve seen. Vidit is a Monster hats off to you, sir!
Of all the supa GMs I find Vidit's vibe the best. I recognize he's spiritually centered and at a place of non-attachment. You know in the history of chess there's usually one one person who dominates while everyone else swims toward the top. All of these players have very different personalities - but one thing is in common: they are all extremely intelligent. Vidit is a true unique player
Sept 9th, 50 days before Grand Swiss '23, Robert Hess commented Vidit is one of the favourites to win the Grand Swiss. Everybody went silent after he said it, but I'm proud to say I believed it too.
I think he is the only one who also said like subscribe to gothamchess which i loved personally because where an interview is all about you and your opinion, its nice to receive the same for the other person and like showed his emotions so well. Such an articulate person and also a great player.💓 Easily one of my favorite players. Loved the interview!

Growing up my impression of top level chess players were that they were dour and single minded like the Grandmasters from the Soviet school at best, or lunatics like Fischer at worst. It's nice seeing people as down to earth and friendly as Vidit at the top level!
If Im not wrong he was initially winning against Ian. Dunno why he suddenly blundered a winning position in the last, he was also close to beating Fabi when they faced in first half of tourney. The guy just chokes in the end!
Vidit, you are amazing. Know that. All you can do is fight and you have absolute no control over the result. What makes you brave is that you fought and you fought fair.
Vidit is a great player, very creative and his games are always fun to watch but if there is one thing he's missing it's self confidence.
