My friend and her fiance went to a local restaurant for their Christmas dinner and paid £80 each for the whole thing, including drinks. I told her I'd rather go mad in Marks & Spencer with half what they paid ie £80. You could get great meals and still have enough for loads of drinks etc. You'd still have £80 to pay for New Year's party.
It’s the age old you get what you pay for isn’t it. Spot on. Looks unreal. We usually go M&S as a treat for Christmas Dinner and get our meat and what not from there. Treats like this are nice. I really like quality pub/gastro food, but I don’t always fancy getting ready and going out, and sometimes can’t with the kiddo, so it’s nice to be able to have a treat in your own house.
M&S is well known for its excellent food, but, as you say it’s a fiver for the pie , so if you want a real treat , why not xx Good food will always cost a bit more . Thanks for showing us this video ! I’m out tomorrow to get a couple of those pies for me & my friends , with homemade chips & peas !!! Helen Kirrage xx
Yes I agree if you can afford to treat yourself now and then you go for it ! That pie looked amazing M&S very rarely let you down . Great review I might go and treat myself as well. Thanks Mr G.💙🤩🙏🏽
This looks very interesting, never heard of a chip and steak pie,my mind is boggling yet again but will have to give this a try, never usually go into M&S coz of the high prices but on this occasion I will deffo give it ago, cheers Gareth for another belter of a review, stay safe and well always.
It's a lot cheaper than going out. My local bakery does a respectable deep pepper steak, not as fancy for $5 AU. This looks great for the price. Plus salad at home. No petrol, no risk 🇦🇺👍
The thing with products like this it depends on your budget. Sure there are people out there struggling and have to just live off 69p Aldi pizzas and 40p packet noodles but if you're in a privileged position to be able to spend a fiver on a pie then go for it. It's almost like there's the expectation to feel guilty about it. I couldn't afford to shop at m&s for all my shopping but I'll spend £20 of a Saturday evening on a takeway. So I could just ditch the takeway this week and take my £20 to m&s and see what looks good.
@@sameastwood4517 I never shop in the same supermarket. Day to day I'll use heron which if you don't have one is owned by b&m. It's good for interesting products as often it's whatever they can get in cheaply. So you'll get weird and wonderful things but then say a smoothie that's £3 in m&s, hasn't sold so then heron end up with it and they're 2 for £1. Heron is rubbish for fresh food though, so for that I'll use either Asda or Tesco. I'll goto Iceland now and again if I become aware of new products as Iceland is good for interesting products. That's where Gareth is useful lol. Farmfoods is now and again.our local m&s closed so I don't go that much, but I did go recently to see what free from stuff they had.
Your comment nailed it! You can easily spend that much on fast food or "takeaway" as my friends across the pond say. How much would you pay for a mom and pop shop steak pie? I bet it's more than five quid! Great comment!
Generally that would be well to expensive for me…. But that looks absolutely delicious and after your review I would definitely treat myself to one yummy 😉

Quite often Ive been drawn in to buying these posh looking expensive type food items as a treat only to discover when I get it home its absolute rubbish and not worth the price. I concur on that pie.. you really need to try there slow cooker range. My favourites are the slow cooked pork rib.. cooked Lamb tagine.. cooked Brisket in red wine sauce... slow cooked beef and ale casserole.. Italian slow cooked steak ragu (heavy on the garlic) The ones I mentioned are about 6 to 8 quid and for two people.. You need to add things like the pasta to go with the ragu. Considering the pie is a fiver these are very very good value. Its like going to that country pub and ordering that comfort food we crave on a cold winters night. There is more expensive things like shoulder of lamb for 4 people and is around 14-15 pounds but is a wonderful Sunday dinner that is so easy to do.. add some dauphinase and brocolli. :) For me its the best range of food in the shops... there is over 20 different meals. So hungry now. I definitely want this pie. No ingredients to cause me an allergic reaction! Yay! Going online to order one now. I am salivating here! Love your videos Gareth.
Hi, Gareth. What an interesting concept for a pie!. I've never seen that before. Looked absolutely out this planet. A bit pricey but it's M +S so can't go wrong. Think I'll be going shopping there at the weekend lol. Keep up the spot on work. Best wishes from Scotland.
That looks really good just looks like on the box. Like you said no nasties in that pie just good ingredients that's what you pay for hence the price you get what you pay for I suppose with plenty of meat not just one piece and all gravy like some. Good for treat I was just thinking before you said it some extra chips a few peas job done.

Could you taste the tomato chutney?
it was lost in the gravy flavour glad it was really.
What sort of cheese was on it as it didn't melt after 35 mins in the oven!
Cheddar cheese pal, couldn't taste it.
@@BaldFoodieGuy must have been that 50% less fat stuff I bought that by mistake once and it doesn't melt!
If I had the budget I would do all my food shopping at M&S I save up every year so I can buy my Christmas food from there
yes me too Amanda.
As you say Gareth, quite dear, but OK for a treat. I would do some mash with it.
yes good idea with mash, i said chips because im so unhealthy lol
I think that I would treat my hubs to that pie.
However lad, what would you serve it with?
Maybe just some garden peas and carrots
give him a treat.
Smoked water in the ingredients..is that a thing?
ive no idea Neil might be a cheffy thing
I'm stuck in the house with COVID but that will be on my shopping list when I get out!

Bloody starving now ,I'd Ave chuck a few more chips with it though lol 👍
Marks food always is top quality
The best
As you said it's a one off treat at £5 and nearly 700 Cal's it should be awesome mate going to go jogging after it burn of the Cal's
tasty Muzzer
Thats one clean ingredients box... You can recognize all of them, no dodgy chems.
👍 Gareth
True that! so good Mark thanks 😊
No Air fryer,cooking then,thought they Wher cheaper to run,mate,🍺🍺 Keith France,you cannot beat,M&S food,fabulous,🤠
I’ve always liked M and S Gastro pub food, fantastic for cold days it’s a bit like comfort food with lots of flavor. To be honest I’ve would rather have a potion of chips separate to the pie. 6 chips are not going to fill you up , unless it’s a kids portion. Cheers Gareth thanks 🙏
cheers Sid, thanks 😊
So hungry now. I definitely want this pie. No ingredients to cause me an allergic reaction! Yay! Going online to order one now. I am salivating here! Love your videos Gareth.
Hope you enjoy! thankyou very much 😊
Hi, Gareth. What an interesting concept for a pie!. I've never seen that before. Looked absolutely out this planet. A bit pricey but it's M +S so can't go wrong. Think I'll be going shopping there at the weekend lol. Keep up the spot on work. Best wishes from Scotland.
cheers Stewart, yes M&S for you. Cracking pie though. Have a good weekend pal.
Cheers mate, same to you too.
Watching your videos is saving me money - thanks
Glad you like them!
Looks amazing Gareth 👍
yes very tasty James.
Great vid, you just can't beat a decent pie.
cheers Kim
Looks lovely and a meal on its own!!
Would be nice for Diiabetics if you mentioned the carbohydrates in the food
you can see the carbohydrates on the nutritional information if you pause it.
That looks really good just looks like on the box. Like you said no nasties in that pie just good ingredients that's what you pay for hence the price you get what you pay for I suppose with plenty of meat not just one piece and all gravy like some. Good for treat I was just thinking before you said it some extra chips a few peas job done.
yes packed pie David, nice treat.
If he ever releases merch, he should have t shirts with 'Mmmmm thats lovely' and 'I hope your all absolutely spot on' on
haha cheers
Marks and Spencer St Michael were known as the patron saint of underwear at one time, it's next level quality, l agree the packaging is unecessary, but l love a pilgrimage to Sparks now and again as a treat
haha yes a tasty treat indeed.
Smoked water???
What about the Heinz beanzburger lad?
yes its on my radar.
Looks delicious 😋
Looks good so going to try one Saturday. Bang goes the diet!Great review 👏 as normal.
haha treat yourself Tom
I know £5 is expensive but looks delicious and filling xx
Looked delicious,i'm off to Marks to get one.
Hope you enjoy
That looks bloody lovely!
You do get what you pay for with most meat dishes I think mate. If you pay more the animals are treated better and the meat tastes better. That pie looked absolutely banging
cheers Paul, yes definitely. Its so good.
Oh no I would love to try this as a treat but nearest M & S Is 11 miles away abit far to travel for a pie ha ha😄😄
haha trip out. Mines a 10 mile round trip.
