Ikoma Cable Line part3, The Double-Track Funicular

- Mount Ikoma is on the border between Osaka and Nara prefectures, and its peak is 642m above sea level. Near the top of the mountain is the Ikomasanjō Amusement Park, where you can overlook Osaka and Nara. The amusement park is closed in winter, but you can walk through it. The mountaintop is also lined with TV and FM broadcast antennas.
The Ikoma Cable Line opened between Toriimae and Hōzanji on August 29, 1918, with the main purpose of transporting visitors to the Hōzanji. It was Japan's first funicular. On December 30, 1926, Hōzanji Line 2 opened.
Currently, on Hōzanji Line 1, Kintetsu Type Ko 11, No. 11 "Bull", No. 12 "Mi-ke" are in operation since 2000, and on Hōzanji Line 2, Kintetsu Type Ko 13, No.3 Car "Suzuran", No.4 Car "Sirakaba" are in operation since 1953. The distance is 0.9km, the height difference is 146m, the gauge is 1067mm (3 ft 6 in) , and the maximum inclination is 12°47′(227‰) .
