Okay, I'm going to take on trying to say what is 'Different about YOU' to me and other Reviewers. Don't get pissed off please.
.... You do (Andrew) one thing most don't I think that others do in reviewing equipment. Andrew, you take a stand on what you think are worthy of mentioning good enough (the Equipment) to be the LAST thing you might need Catagory, & through Analysis what can give Great sound; vs the minor advantage of SPENDING the CHURCH MONEY to achieve reaching 'Faith Based Audiophile System."
... *I don't know if this is making sense, but* others (reviewers) pepper their views with this is good and that is great and of course it's your trip and such...., you do it to at the end with your TAG line too.
Never the less.... I LIKE IT. I think i know where you are coming from and I'm USING YOUR Evaluation (like the LP-140 Audio-Technic) in place of a HOBBY that has few stores to audition equipment for myself.
.... I THINK you are looking at the SPECS with the Experience of hearing equipment and saying if you can match items well. You might end up only a few Percentage Points away from owning that $20,000 dollar stereo for $2,000 or $4,000, but much less and only missing something that is marginally (albeit recognizably better) better.
It's all good :) GOOD JOB!
HOWDY Kristi (not to be left out for her value, but that is another story I think we all know adds real value.)

I've went for bronze 100's last week after seeing your (and others) videos, initially was a little scared of my decition (of not going directly for silver 100) and while I don't "love" the finish of the white unit I forgot about those details when they sound, they're fantastic. Glad to know that silver 100s aren't a huge leap in performance, thank you Andrew and Kristi.

Enjoy the review Mr Robinson and Christi’s candid take and audio review! Knowing a local monitor audio dealer here in metro Detroit, I definitely echo your view on these speakers having had the fortune of listening to these, I liked their sound myself as well. They are definitely on the “cooler” side of things with good finesse!

Thank's for review. I have them too and I really like their flatness. What I noticed absolutely clear - low frequency cutoff at 40Hz when listening in quiet mode. At least I feel that speakers love loudness and power (in reasonable level), but for smooth bass additional sub is a must. Silvers plus sub can be a great 2.1 set.

I know they are not new at this point, but I would love to get your and Kristi's take on either/both the Dynaudio Emit 20 bookshelf and the Triangle Borea towers (BR08/BR09). While there are plenty of reviews on the internet for both, there is something about your and Kristi's takes that are refreshing and always honest. Thanks for all the great videos!

I got the 6G (4 years ago) silver 100's in Rosenut to replace some aging Kef Coda's. When I unpacked them the wife said "oh, they're pretty", I knew I had hit a home run! They sound bloody fantastic! Got them paired with the C150 center channel and it is really job done.
Thanks both of you for the great work and wonderful reviews!

Great review. Competition is fierce in the $ 750- $2000 range. I love my 600M’s over 2 years ago. To answer your question…. Yes. Yet the irony is we position our main speakers in a way to make them “disappear “ in the room. Your Cornwall’s are freakin (keeping it G rated) STUNNING. Whether listening or just admiring them. Hopefully speaker manufacturers are watching and listen to this channel.

I got the green MA Silver 100 7g anniversary with the gold woofer. Amazing speakers. I have had many and these are not going anywhere. Details, mids, bass are all there but make sure you have good amp. They also take a while to break in.

  • @d.s.6268
    @d.s.6268 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thanks for another great review. I can say that fit and finish matter a lot if we're talking about a sound system for the living room. It's basically another furniture, guests are going to see it, and so that does carry weight. I'm even debating between a few speakers right now and I'm pretty sure one of them has reached the finish line in large part because of its looks/color. It's two more pieces of furniture, even if they're bookshelf speakers and certainly if they include stands. That has to be a consideration. Maybe not the biggest but not that minor either.

  • @awildcyclistappears

I can confirm that they play great when paired with Audiolab 6000A Play. I listen to mainly acoustic or orchestral music, but when I feel like listning to some of electronic like soundtrack from "Rez Infinite" or good old FSOL and Orbital I'm being floored by how good they sound. Speaker also really gives you the cue which of your music is mastered correctly and which is not. Recently got melted by how godly soundtrack from original Ghost in the Shell sounded. My room is appx. 16-18m2.
Detailed, with great bass performance(Angel from Massive Attack is a best test imo). I'll stay with them even when switching amps.

I thought that was Kristi's best reviews. She brought up some great points concerning other options.
I know space has a lot to due with bookies versus floorstanders, but at that price point, if it was me, I'd probably squeeze just a little more and look at the R700's. I'd give some on fit and finish for the R700's.
Awesome review from both of you.

Following your previous monitor reviews last year I demoed both bronze and silver 50/100 (would have considered the SFL II but is way more costly here - I thought the difference between broze to silver 50s was a lot bigger than from bronze 100 to silver 100. Ended up going with silver 50s + c250 centre + Monitor in walls and in ceiling for 5.2 atmos. With the addition of a B&W DB3d sub I couldnt be happier, the B&W sub makes a decent system sound spectacular especially with movies. Truly commercial theatre bass in a medium room.

A good Video about the Silver Series and the 100 especially!! I Loved the afordable Speaker from Monitor Audio vor Years and the 7 g shows how good they are manufactured. Das Auge isst mit ! Wer are saying in Germany. The Look ist one Piece of the Game ! But....coming to your Question, ist there so much between the Bronco and the Silver?? My Answer ist yes there is! But i bought some Years ago the Bronce 200. Exactly because they sounded so good...Just Like the Silver and i could only afford the lower Price at that Moment. And that is the Deal.
Congratulations to your Chanel. IT is in my Opinion one of the best Hifi and Audio Chanels without beeing influenced by Manufacturers! Go on !! Best greetings from Germany to you and the Voice from behind !!!👍 Rudi👍

Fit and finish matter a lot! The black matte ash of my Klipsch makes the theater perfect for day or night and yes, the grills stay on in the front! The RP-280's fit like a charm with room for the REL-HT 1580's for perfect dynamic sub bass.

Great review, Fit and finish is very important, my wife is an interior designer and the aesthetic is alway a consideration. I’m glad that ash is making some headway in the market. I’ve done walnut and oak and there’s nothing wrong with them. But ash and maple deserve a place in design too.

Agreed. These MA Silver bookshelf speakers in ash look gorgeous. They remind me of my wife’s B&W DM601 bookshelves in a similar light wood finish (pine? Ash??). Like The Dude would say, ‘they really tie the room together.’

MA have always had a really nice sense of style. I’m sort of ashamed to say I’ve never lived with a pair despite having been enamored without them since a roughly 2003-2004 visit to Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara. Maybe now’s the time to pull the trigger!

Still kicking myself about some older model Monitor Audio Golds, very similar to these ones, that were an absolute steal on a buy and sell forum but I wasn't sure if it would be worth the drive. When I'd decided to go get them, someone had bought them. The finish on these looks incredible, thanks for the review!

I would really love it if you did a "monthly music roundup" type video where you talk about the music that has been in rotation with a heavy leaning on any new music found, or vinyl acquisitions. I just received Jazzpospolita's "PRZYPLYW" which I had to order from Poland. Beautiful stuff, I'm pretty sure I've recommended it to Andrew before, but I'm doing it again hahaha. Definitely adjacent to GoGo Penguin in mode, but with more affecting melodic lines imo. Anyway, thanks again for the reviews

Speaking of Sonus faber…. In part thanks to your review of the Lumina IIs, I just pulled the trigger on a pair of Lumina Vs. Talk about the whole package! They look and sound soooo good! If you like the Lumina IIs, I think you’ll love their bigger siblings too.
And to your question: yes, fit & finish is hugely important to me, but it still has to sound as good as it looks!
As always, thanks for all the great reviews!

When I was in my 20s fit and finish didn't matter at all. Just how much I liked the sound. Now 20 plus years later it's at least 50% of my buying decisions. I want it to sound good, but it needs to look good too.

I have owned about 8 sets of speakers, bookshelf and Floorstanders.
Fit n finish is extremely important but I don’t need Flawless Car Finishes.
So I don’t want to polish like my car, just dust it and know it’s built very well.
Dali had a satin rough textured finish I saw at a Dealer, Oberon
    series?
My take, Great Channel, need all the help I can get on shopping for my
    next speaker.

@@andrewrobinsonreviews yes absolutely! I was hoping for a bigger difference in sound, because I have a 5.1.2 system out of bronze speakers. So I really struggle whether the better build quality is worth the higher price. (Not as an replacement, that would be to expensive, but I am looking for a 2.0 setup in another Appartement with 'full range' bookshelfs)

QOTD: Finish and style is important but not the end all be all. I look for sound quality and target that, then look at style and finish as secondary.
I keep speakers for a long time so I take into account where I’m at in life and where I may be in ten or twenty years.
Funny note: When I looked at purchasing the R200’s I asked my wife what finish she liked. I was leaning towards the white but she chose black and that’s what I got. Happy wife, happy life. Keep rocking! 🤘🏼🎸🤘🏼

Fit and finish is important but only in reference to another speaker, I don't choose it actiively and would take "uglier" speakers if they'd sounded better. Recently I had the 8000F in ebony and the MA Bronze 500 in grey, put them head to head and I decided for the Klipsch because of the sound altough the MA looked better in my opinion.

Fit and finish, it’s definitely up there in priorities, but if the sound is so captivating, as it is with the Revel M16, I can let it slide.
Btw, STILL waiting for my Lumina II from my dealer and I placed my order in August of last year, so it’s been quite the wait. I’m seeing now though that the Lumina series is available at some more online retailers, that’s encouraging.

Got to admit those speakers are really well done on aesthetics. On the question of the day I tend to like more modern finishes and yet I went for a set of Cornwall IVs. So I guess the sound trumps the looks in the end.

I think you strike a great balance between information and practicality for normal people - especially with Christie as a counterpoint. You bring the human touch to HIFI. I am not familiar with audiophile terms such as "forward" but I know how the human voice/piano/violin/acoustic guitar so I would be nice it if you could add base-lining comments such as better for vocals eg Johnny Cash/Leonard Cohen/Joni Mitchell etc or better for piano/violin/trumpet/jazz or better for rock/electronic/chamber music/symphonies etc. And explain your thinking.

Great review! I upgraded from the Bronze series purchased four years ago to the Silver 100 7g plus the Silver 6g C150 center. I immediately noticed a huge improvement in the midrange. For some reason I thought these would be more forward/brighter than the Bronze but that wasn't the case. They are smoother and more refined but definitely not more aggressive. I'm currently driving them with a Yamaha Aventage 90 WPC receiver. Do you think there would be much benefit to pushing these with a more powerful receiver?

Looks really matter when they're going anywhere highly visible in your house, speakers have a presence in any room they go into as you're essentially adding many new pieces of furniture. Get something that looks great and in the future you won't be regretting saving a few dollars and looking for something to replace your room dominating speakers.
The looks of the Monitor Audio Silver 7G series are what got the purchase over the line with the other half so it matters a lot there too!

I had a complete 7.1 MA system with RS8's being the towers. But I honestly can't imagine purchasing any finish other than rosenut. It's warm, beautiful and honestly seems more at home in a place where humans live rather than a cold, stark art gallery made for feng shui obsessed Scandinavian robots like the chilly, pale, ash or a pair that seem meant to be placed in a high end sushi restaurant bathroom next to the neatly rolled white towels like either flavor of black.

To me fit and finish matters if… it doesn’t jack up the price or is over performance. So as long as the performance is their first and the speakers fit my budget, the finish could sway me on which I pick. The set I have now actually had the performance I want but also the finish I was looking for. Another great video, thank you!

Dispersion and soundstage was a big wow moment when I got them out the box! To add I got them for a steal from someone upgrading to the gold's! Payed £390 for the pair. My logic was at that price why not spend £100 or so on better internal components. Sonicly it made the speakers even more resolving and deffo smoother to my ears. hello here from Brazil, I recently bought a pair of SILVER 100 7G and I confess that at first I felt a certain regret, they are not (at least for me) easy to position or with a relaxed hearing, the definition and presence of frequencies between 2k and 5k are very prominent, this shocked me a bit as it came from a pair of DM602 S3 where this region is a little excavated, after a lot of research and after watching several videos, I could see that there really is a need to move them at least 30 centimeters away from the wall and practically leave them parallel to this same wall with a crossing point around 2 meters behind the head (it's a different positioning from how it is usually done for the BRONZE 100, these two monitors work and deliver very different sounds as they are positioned), so that the sound panorama happens in a large and detached way, after these attempts and almost the return of the Bookshelf, of an hour for another yes, the MA were born, got big and gave life to the music, another detail I felt (it may even be a placebo effect, or my ears just getting used to it) is that it took at least 50 hours to break the speakers so that they start to emit a quieter and sweeter sound, I don't know if this goes against what Andrew and Kristi felt (my bad English deprives me of details), but this was my experience and now I believe that I'm starting to like and make peace with them, even though they're still not friendly to all kinds of music!

    • @audiojunior174
      @audiojunior174 2 ปีที่แล้ว

making it clear that the definition and presence of frequencies between 2k and 5k are very prominent mainly because of the "neodymium" magnet tweeters, this frequency range gets a little harsh and too penetrating with this technology, even the graph showing a horizon without peaks, is a characteristic of this material, I already felt this a lot in the speakers of guitar amplifiers built with neodymium, and I realized that this feeling also translated into the MA Silver 100 7G

I agree that looks matter. I'm in my home office for many hours each day, so if I'm staring at speakers the whole time I want them to look great.
You know what doesn't look great? The large, ugly black boxes of electronics required to power nice-looking speakers. Lots of upper-end equipment looks great, but low to mid-end electronics are almost universally large and ugly.
Personally, I'm thinking of going with the new KEF LSX ii, partly to avoid the huge and ugly receiver/ integrated amp I'd need for passive speakers. I hope you get to review those soon!
