    Really good review. I also bought both and decided to keep the 13 inch. Mainly for use cases where I want a lightweight travel replacement laptop and occasions where I want to be away from my desk but have the ability to multitask as I work remote. In more casual scenarios such as reading, browsing and watching content, the 11 inch is the better choice because of sheer portability and feeling more like a tablet. The weight difference isn't as big as with previous generations, but the 13 inch still feels like half a laptop, whereas the 11 still just feels like a tablet. If you plan on using the magic keyboard a lot, then the 13 becomes the more comfortable option to work on.

    Add one thing about the iPad 13 inch as main device: actually iPad with Magic Keyboard is not good at lap-capable, because it will easily tip over if you don't have a table... so if I can choose, I would prefer something that's a bit more stable on the lap.
    But the 13 inch iPad is really good for the mind map hand writing to me.

      @@sukhdeepsm i went to an apple store today to check out both. I was pretty sure 11" was gonna be the best choice for me being a secondary device but i found it so tiny. The 13" felt so light and manageable compared to the older models. I've even had an 11" M1 which i sold and i remember it feeling much "larger" even though it technically has a smaller screen than the new 11". I'm really considering going 13" now instead...

      That’s interesting - may be worth going 13 inch if you can handle the size, for me the weight wasn’t too much of an issue (Apple have done some weird magic to make the iPads as light as they are), it just felt awkward anytime I’d hold it in my hands, granted everyone’s tolerance is different
      Worst case scenario if you don’t like the 13 inch is that after 2 weeks you can swap it for an 11 inch, and you’ll get an extra $300 coming in :)

    Now that you mention it, I was about to buy an iPad since I study medicine and I was going to go for a previous generation iPad Pro, although with the back to school offers, I have decided to get an iPad Pro M4 instead. I was thinking about the 11" pro, however, watching this discussion, I doubt if the 13" pro is better, I will use it as my device to take notes and nothing more, whether by handwritting or with a magic keyboard (not the actual one but a cheaper alternative that costs around 50 usd at aliexpress), I will not use another device at school, since at home I have a gaming PC where I will do most of the work of making powerpoints presentations and another tasks, what do you guys recommend? I was also thinking about taking it to the hospital when I have to do my internship and I don't know how portable the 13" iPad is compared to the 11" and since the only usage it will have its gonna be just note taking (handwritting/keyboard) i dont know, which option should be de right one

    • @sukhdeepsm
      @sukhdeepsm  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’d be leaning towards the 13-inch personally. That way your PC can be your at-home battle station, and the iPad can be your ‘travel’ computer. Note taking on the 11 inch iPad is technically fine, until you decide to open split screen (e.g. for questions on one side and writing on the other) or stage manager, and in those moments, I wish I had the 13-inch back when I was at uni. Yes, it will be less portable, and it will be heavier than an 11-inch, nothing you can really do about that, but to be honest you’ll get used to it over time, plus it’ll still be lighter than the laptops most other students are carrying

      I've personally not experienced any issues with PWM - in fact, I didn't even know this was a term until a few weeks ago when I heard it mentioned in a forum. I think the only way for you to really find out if it will affect you is to test it out during the 2 week window. But like I said no issues on my end. Hope that helps :)

      Personally if I could go back I would go 13 inch. I’ll admit, it will be less portable and it will be slightly heavier, especially if you also carry a Mac/laptop with you, but I think the portability hit is worth the benefit of extra screen space - plus in a lot of cases, you can just take your 13-inch iPad with you because it’s big enough to act as its own stand alone computer, rather than carrying 2 devices which will take up more space in a lecture theatre (this was the main thing that annoyed me with my 11-inch)

    I will be a psychology student and I already have a laptop. I am going to study in abroad and actually I don’t want to bring it with me. So I want to buy an Ipad as both laptop and tablet. Do you think that Ipad pro (13 inch) will be the best and enough option for this purpose?

    • @sukhdeepsm
      @sukhdeepsm  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Good question. I studied a behavioural economics module at university, and I’d say the iPad was sufficient for basically all the tasks I had to do (note-taking, reading dozens (!) of papers, annotating PDFs, collaborating on a group assignment through Teams etc.), but I always regretted not having extra screen space on my 11-inch (especially when going to seminars) so based on that I’d say 13-inch is the way to go - assuming your course doesn’t require any specific software/apps that only runs on a laptop but not iPad

      Speakers are louder and punchier on the 13-inch - mainly noticeable when watching movies, where it feels more “theatre-like”, though I’m not sure I would go as far to say it was “significant”, at least not significant enough to sway my decision. But hey, if you’re on the borderline between choosing then I guess you could use the better speakers as a way of justifying going for the 13 inch 😅

    Great Video Thank you! You have a new subscriber. I have spent hours researching and honestly still don’t know. I have tried both the m2 11 and 12.9 and found the 12.9 too heavy. I was hope the 13 would be thinner and lighter to use more often in tablet mode. I had the 11 but could not really use it for Productivity and kept my MacBook Air M2 and my mini which I use mostly for content absorbing. Do you find the 11 good enough for 2 windows where you are researching on the web and taking notes on the right? Or is the 13 better suited for that? I don’t edit photos on the iPad but looking to do so in the future…. Thanks I appreciate it.

    • @sukhdeepsm
      @sukhdeepsm  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you :) Glad you liked it. Yeah, it’s a tough one. If you have a MacBook you may want to lean with the 11-inch - rather than having 2 13-inch ‘computers’. Right now, I use my M1 MBA as my battle station for serious work, and the 11 inch iPP has become my couch/travel computer.
      Split screen is fine on the 11 inch if all you’re doing is note taking, but of course 13-inches is unsurprisingly better - the way I’d phrase it is you can “get away with” using the 11-inch for split-screen note-taking. I also edit all my photos using LR on my iPad and haven’t really felt the desire for more screen space. The main time I wish I had more screen space was when I was hand writing with the Apple Pencil using split screen - but now that I’m no longer a student this has become less of an issue for me personally

    Which size is good for watching videos and reading books ? I already have an iPad Pro 11 inch 2020 model…Tempted to get the 13 inch pro because the magic keyboard in 11 inch is almost unusable for me.

    • @sukhdeepsm
      @sukhdeepsm  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      For watching videos the 13-inch is more immersive, especially for movies (not to say 11-inches is bad), but for reading the 11-inch is the winner for me (you can read with the 13-inch, bit it just feels a bit awkward juggling a laptop-sized screen in your hands). But maybe consider your use case - like if you’re reading with your iPad, how many hours is it for each day? And then compare that to how long you spend typing with the keyboard during the day to see which use case will benefit you more

    • @81179venky
      @81179venky 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@sukhdeepsm Ok. Yes the 11 inch is easier to hold while reading. Regarding videos I have seen some youtube videos that the 13 inch doesn't really give 2 extra inches for video. You get more black bars up and below. Is that true ? because when you zoom to fill the screen you lose some content, so I don't prefer zooming especially youtube videos.

    • @sukhdeepsm
      @sukhdeepsm  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@81179venky yeah so because the aspect ratios are different the 13 inch does have bigger bars at the top on most 16:9 videos - you can sort of see the difference in the B-roll I included towards the end when I mentioned the 13-inch iPad feeling like a TV. Despite this though I still found the 13-inch to be more immersive than the 11-inch for consuming content, and I didn’t feel the need to ever zoom in on content

    • @sukhdeepsm
      @sukhdeepsm  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah some people are able to get away with using the iPad as their main computer, but I wouldn’t recommend it for most people - I have a video explaining why which I’d recommend checking out th-cam.com/video/0GvkCZ9zXzk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VuLpG2rI31lC82Ky.
      Still though, if I was going back to uni, I’d ironically pick 13-inch just because of the screen space + productivity boost alone, especially because the course I took (economics) was very math heavy (I’m guessing engineering is similar), so even if though is harder to carry around, I guess that’s just the price you pay for have a more productive device.

    After my GCSEs I’m looking to buy an iPad Pro, and I’m not sure between getting the 13 inch or 11 inch, if I were to get the 11 inch I was wondering if it is worth also getting a monitor so I could use an external keyboard and mouse with the monitor and iPad while at home at my desk, but then I could just use the iPad when I’m at school for example. What do you think? Is there any point also getting a monitor, and should I go 11 inch or 13 inch? • @sukhdeepsm
      @sukhdeepsm  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If the iPad is going to be your main computer I’d personally be leaning towards the 13-inch, it just feels better for productivity imo. Equally, I’m a huge external monitor fan. I think the ability to just plug your iPad straight into a display and turn it into a >21-inch screen is a game changer and definitely worth investing in if you study a lot at home. If I could only pick between the 13-inch iPad or the 11-inch + external monitor, I’d probably go 11-inch + external monitor since that gives you the best of both worlds.
      Also, if you’re getting the Magic Keyboard case alongside the iPad you could probably get away without using an external keyboard/trackpad and save some money there if that’s of any relief. Hope this helps.

      If you’re mostly using your iPad for note-taking the 13 inch is probably the better option, sure you don’t get as much screen real estate as with a monitor, but hey it’s not like you can use your Apple Pencil to draw on an external display, so it wouldn’t really benefit your use case.
