Michael Caine made the film to buy his mother a house, not to buy himself one. It was a commendable reason to make the movie. He knew the film was awful when he read the script. His mother had a really nice house with a nice garden in the countryside for ever more, it was good of him to do that for her.

That was really sweet. He had literally the only funny line in the movie.

He was literally one of the most famous men in the World, if he hadn't done this, there were like multiple other film roles offered to him. He easily could have done any other film and used the money from that to buy her a house.

As a youngster I always found the beginning segment with Sean's death unsettling. The attack intercut with the carols, Sean's desperate cries for help, and the shots of the jaws as Sean's attacked always spooked me

CGI is computer generated stuff that can be made to look good. The editors just (apparently) look at it and say, "Fuck it. Put it in; I'm not paid enough to care"
I like bad CGI more because it looks funny when it's bad. When it's awful real effects it just sad it like they didn't even try.
I disagree the shark in jaws 4 just doesn't seem genuine..
The little girl who played as MIke's daughter Thea also voiced as Ducky in Land Before Time and Anna Marie in All Dogs Go To Heaven. Unfortunately, that means she's also the little girl who was killed by her father along with her mother in a murder suicide. Rest in Peace to the little girl who at least brought happiness to kids in two great kids movies.
Truth be told I still can't watch All Dogs Go To Heaven or the Land Before Time after finding out what happened to the little girl. Those two movies were among my favorite growing up and it was just heartbreaking to know the girl who brought so much happiness didn't get to grow up.

Fun Fact 1: This movie was called “Jaws: The Revenge” because originally it was going to follow the novel’s storyline where some islander holds a grudge against the Brody family and uses voodoo to control the shark to get revenge on them (which is somehow linked to Ellen’s psychic connection to the shark). They eventually realized how stupid that plot was, but had already filmed a lot, so they changed the story so that the shark was the offspring of the sharks from the first two movies taking revenge for its parents’ deaths.
Fun Fact 2: This movie also ignores “Jaws 3D” (which I thought was worse than this movie), and instead is a direct sequel to “Jaws 2”.
Fun Fact 3: This movie has two versions of the shark’s death. The original theatrical release had the broken pole of the boat impale the shark and kill it that way, and it doesn’t use the footage from the first movie. Critics didn’t like it, so for the home release they made the shark’s head randomly blow up when it was impaled, which was actually a far worse scene (you should have used the original one). Also, in the original ending, Jake didn’t survive. The shark’s original death scene can still be seen on TV and Netflix, but not DVD or VHS. Also, it wasn’t a bomb that was stuck in the shark’s mouth, but a device meant to produce electric shocks. There was literally no reason for its head to explode.
Fun Fact 4: “Deep Blue Sea” was originally going to be “Jaws 5”, but changes were made and it became its own movie.

7:11 Fun fact: the novelization of this movie (yes, this movie actually got a novelization) attempted to explain why and how this shark is able to understand the concept of revenge and track Brody's friends and family across thousands of miles.
I say "attempted" because its 'explanation' is that a voodoo curse has been placed on Brody and his family that cause these things to happen. And no, the book does _not_ make any attempt whatsoever to explain how that curse was placed, nor answer any of the roughly 4000 other questions that raises.
Fun fact: TVTropes refers to attempts to cover up plotholes that raise more questions than they answer as “Voodoo Sharks,” because of that novelization.

I saw that when I was 10 in cinemas after living off of Jaws movies. I had to leave early, right after the Sam death scene for a rather urgent bathroom break that I did not come back from.

I’m a little shocked that Judith Barsi (Thea Brody) wasn’t mentioned at all in this video, only because her untimely demise did tie in with the production of this film. While filming in the Bahamas, her mother Maria complained to several crew members about her fear of being killed by her husband... to a point that her hysterics were seen as overly dramatic and not taken seriously; Judith, having been threatened by her father with a knife before filming, flew back to California early after suffering an emotional breakdown. Who knows what could’ve happened, but I always found it heartbreaking over the thought that if at least one person HAD taken Maria seriously during that production, it could’ve saved their lives.
I think James was too busy roasting the movie to even bring it up

I remember my aunt being so upset they killed off sean when this movie came out. What was the point of having him survive the earlier movie if this was the plan???
They tried to get the major interest in the movie, so that people wouldn’t walk up an leave in the first few minutes of the movie, but of course they still did cuz this movie sucks. Unfortunately this movie was supposed to the continue the unrivaled legacy of what is argued by many(including myself) as the greatest movie of all time.
I think originally it was supposed to be Martin killed by the shark in an earlier draft of the script, but of course Roy Scheider refused to appear in the film, so that was why Sean was killed instead.
I love how they made Brody die of fear - "the fear of it" - bruh, just don't go in the water, you'll be fine.
It actually makes no sense. Brody was completely fine after killing _two_ sharks, and then he suddenly had a heart attack out of fear sometime before Jaws 4? It's stupid.

OK I'm not crazy then. I swear the version I grew up watching didn't have the shark explode. He just got impaled, broke off the mast of the boat, and then sank. Also Jake didn't magically come back to life. He got ate up.

@@Real_ice962 I only ever heard of the two versions. Theatrical and DVD. The theatrical was much better IMO, I just looked up a cut comparison, search JAWS: The Revenge - Theatrical vs International Cut and you'll see what I mean.
If I were to re-write the beginning of the movie, it would go like this:
After Sean gets his arm eaten off, he quickly rushes to the cab and starts the boat up, the engine does NOT fail and he quickly rushes back to the decks still heavily bleeding from his bite, the shark rams into the back of the boat and Sean manages to jump on the deck nearly toppling in the water on the other side, the propeller from the boat causes the fish to bleed, not so much to kill it, leaving a deep scar on it's nose, Sean rushes to the station and the receptionist calls the Amity Hospital. Later the Brody's visits him, Michael recalling the first time he experienced a NEAR shark attack in the first movie that got him in shock and had him sent to the hospital too, this time it's his younger brother Sean but in a more serious degree. Hours later, the hospital called in Mike and said that he manages to live, Mikey and his daughter visits him and are very glad to see him okay, but Sean warns Mike about the shark and tells him to take the research team out into warmer waters, Michael agrees, but Ellen just flat out tells him to quite the job out of fear, but Mike listens to his brother's wish and calls in Jake to take the research crew out to warmer waters at the Bahamas.
Sure the rest of the movie would be stupid with the shark hunting in warmer waters and would still roar before getting impaled, but hopefully this does some justice for people who are looking for ways for a different beginning to the film.
In the non us ending jake survives. When asked how is he still alive he says i told you my gear doesnt crap out.
Also when michael cane comes out of the water after the attack his shirt is perfectly dry

They actually filmed the scene where he climbed onto the boat soaking wet. Then they filmed some other scenes before it was decided they needed to reshoot Michael climbing onto the boat. Of course Michael completely dried off by the time they decided to reshoot the scene, but apparently nobody noticed but Michael. Michael decided not to bring it to the crew’s attention because he didn’t want to get wet again.
Caine gets the movie's best line though:
"How the hell did you get out of that!?"

Final Destination might have the highest kill counts if James counts the deaths of the opening disasters, most notably Flight 180 where 287 passengers died in the explosion.

JAWS 5: Mike's daughter Thea would be in her 30's now and she's living on Oahu island in Hawaii with her husband and two children. They live on a small boat on the Anahula River, and the shark comes inland and starts hanging out in the river. The shark is infatuated by certain colours and is drawn to their boat by the odd colour of it - queue chase scenes where the boat roars along the river, the shark is in hot pursuit, it eats several fisherman and swimmers, and is finally killed when - during a chase - Thea suddenly changes direction, steering the boat hard to the left, and the shark piles headward into a boat full of explosives that is in the area to clear World War Two mines that are still in the nearby sea. The shark crashes in to the boat, and the boat and the shark explode. The film ends with Thea, her husband and their kids, standing on their boat, smiling and are pleased the shark is dead.
Sadly her actress was killed when she was 10 by her own father.

Her father told her, "If you and your mother don't come back, I'm going to cut your throat." Judith and her mother were eventually killed by him
