Walked past you in Newbury today. Said to my wife. That's was that bloke from the golf videos I watch. Her I don't care face was priceless. #she hates golf so much 😂
Thanks For Watching Guys! Make sure to leave this a video a like if you want to find a unbelievable legendary second hand bargain golf club on eBay this year!
I’ve just purchased these. 5 to pw. Fitted for Stiff shaft, I hit 7 iron 160-170 yards. I use the 5 iron off the tee only. Fairways I use my M6 hybrid. I play off a 9 handicap & these clubs are so nice. Very forgiving & they look like a players iron. Not much feel to them though. A bit clicky.
Great video again Simon I don’t carry a 5 or a 6 iron I use 7 to pitch wedge and I have 4 hybrids in the bag on different lofts. It is more enjoyable playing golf this way.
I just bought this in 7 iron at a course in a demo club basket for 35 $ brand new and I love it , have only hit about 10 balls with it but all were great feeling shots and right down the middle with amazing ball height The head was a bit loose , what's the best way to tighten this , a wrench ? Dont want to scratch it to much
Hi Simon, another great vlog. I am in the market for new irons. But why is it every where I go all I get is all the clubs but only in a 7 iron. I want to try a range of lofts . But I do like the look of these clubs and if in a year they bring out the i510 in black they would sell. what do you think?
I pulled the trigger on these clubs 5-uw just now and I'm curious do you think it makes sense to have two "gap wedge" in the bag? I've already got a more bladed wedge set of Taylormade MG3's that are 50, 54, 58 - for whatever reason I can hit bladed wedges better than any other irons in my bag currently... If I swing around 80-85mph with wedges and currently carry the 50 degree taylormade 110ish yards. I feel like with my speed the 49 degree u-wedge might actually end up going much further than my 50 degree taylormade and have a proper gapping? I sure hope so!
Completely agree with the top tip, I am a bit quicker than a 65 mph, being about 80 mph 7i swing speed (although trying to get faster) and I just do not bother with irons of less than 26 degrees of loft - I just do not have the speed to get enough launch.
What are the thoughts on a blended bag? I’m 36 - swing speed about 95. But need second shot clubs that can hit the 200 yd mark or maybe even a bit longer. My ping 4 hybrid gets there WHEN i can hit it strait. What I want is consistency - this is what drives the score down for me. For some reason I hit my irons more consistent than hybrids - I get too many “driver” like effects from the hybrids. The look of them bothers me if im not in perfect conditions. On the Sim - all good, on the course - so so as the lies aren’t as good. If I over swing the hybrid - it’s slicing to god knows where, which happens as nerves get to you on golf course. I was thinking about a blended bag with the opposite of the suggestion in this vid. Ex. Use ping i500s from PW to 6. Use the g710s for the 5 and 4. I personally can hit irons better than hybrids and more accurately - so put a TM GAPR Mid 3 iron in there as well. Thoughts??
Price per club is off putting. You can get a decent driver for the price of a single club. That being said your review is spot on and entertaining as usual. Enjoy the LD session.
I’ve never been fitted but I definitely want/need to. But one of the things that’s concerns me is I don’t think the fitters at my local golf shop would tell me no, you can’t buy a 5 iron just get a rescue or a seven wood. It’s a shame I live across the pond.
Hi Simon, as someone who struggles with distance due to arthritis and a general lack of mobility are these the sort of irons you would recommend? Bit confused by the whole club head speed (lack of) thing and what to look for.
Don't need a driver anymore ..... I have to work out😰😰😰 it looks like the i blade, the 200.. Second hand EX FORGED from Mizuno the 2015 edition. What is your take on that Simon ?
Loopy distances, I know you give a twok , how far would it go for an average golfer ? Are these as forgiving as it says on the tin ? Would need a lot of wedges to fill the gaps if your hitting a 9 iron 170 180 ish , hope little un is doing well
I AM HITTING MY 7 IRON AN AVERAGE OF 169 WITH THE ARCCOS SENSORS IF THAT HELPS ANY. HITTING ON THE SCOPE YOU TEND TO PUT A LITTLE MORE ON IT THAN IN A PRACTICAL GOLF SHOT ON THE COURSE, I FIND....
In the pro world there is talk of reducing how far a golf ball can go so why are manufacturers making clubs go miles in distance. It’s ok hitting a 7 iron 220 yards but then when it comes to buying wedges for gapping where will It go. As you say its ok hitting a 7 iron 220 but we need it to stop the other end. I think golf manufacturers are sending out the wrong message for average golfers because ultimately we need to be able to have some control over our game and need all the help u can get , not just smashing a 7 iron 200 yards down the fairway hoping it goes straight. Love your uploads and honest views, keep up the good work and keep it fun 👍
I swing my 7 iron at around 90 mph give or take 5 mph and I really need game improvement because I'm not good enough but I end up having to play better player irons because when I flush one or get a flyer it can go 20 or 30 yards further. I wish they'd stop strengthening the loft so much and give us that need forgiveness but have speed an option
These "distance improvement irons" are rebranded strong lofted clubs. The biggest problem with these things are distance dispersion. A misshit that you normally play produces reasonably predictable length; the feeling is too dampened to tell where you misshit it. Then one day, you try to hit a green and manage the perfect swing, the ball flies 30 yards further from a pure sweetspot smash. Your ball is gone! Play less forgiving clubs. They offer feedback to let you know where you hit it. If your a 15 handicap or lower, you should be playing blades.
@@bjarkebk3735 spectacular choice in the 919 but... I bet you'd love blades too! The feedback from a pure strike, dispersion that you could throw a blanket over 10 balls. Just for fun, swing some blades, see what I mean. All the best!
If they work...keep them. I was a 90's golfer and a 7i = 150yrds. If you are tempted buy new ones consider a brand that are similar lofted to give you approx. the same distances you are used to. Otherwise you may regret it. Been there done that..ended up being a 2nd set with a 7i and 33 deg loft.
New golf equipment is literally a joke, enough with distance and strong lofts with everything already. Back in 2000 I hit a normal 7 iron 150, now it goes 190, and I don't score any better with the new irons.
Maybe you have the wrong clubs then. You can't dispute the physics behind the changes, the issue is people upgrading annually. If you changed clubs every 5-8 years you would always see s worthwhile improvement in whatever you are lacking - distance, speed, forgiveness etc
@@MrGlk With a driver I can see what you are talking about with technology...But with irons I've never had the feeling I've ever needed more and more distance or forgiveness. My senior year of H.S. I avg 78 for 18 holes using a set of lynx black cat irons which were a couple years old at the time. I guarantee those are just as forgiving as any irons out there and that was 20 years ago.
Why not just treat them as a club less than what is stamped on the bottom? So a G710 6i is equivalent to i210 5I, G710 7i equals a i210 6i etc. True you need an extra wedge in that situation but really no different to those players who buy 5i-9i in a set and a specialist PW

Great comments and observations, Simon! Awesome watch!

Would be great if you got a £20 lavalier microphone to help with sound quality. It's a little jarring towards the end of the video with the tinny echo
If I hit 7 iron like that I wouldn't bother with 3 wood 😅
Thats a good drive for me in now in my older years. Wow!👍

Wow! Your swing with a 7 iron is fluid and incredibly simple to follow and help others fix their flaws. Great video Simon.

Excellent review thank you
Is that UGLY hosel nut yours or stock from ping?
The ping web site shows a tapered black hosel cap and not a silver colored nut.
How far goes the PW go? How many wedges? Is it not mad from this point of view? Not made for you I know!
156 balllllspeed is incredible 😳
Crazy, with these lofts they sell less clubs. Poor sales plan if you ask me. Unless the sell the 4 wedges, too! Great honest review.
Great video as usual
Great video keep up the good content great looking club
Cameron Keigher thanks Cameron as always! Legend!

Rick Shiels has just reviewed them today, heads up if you're thinking of buying them the black finish was coming off after just a few holes !

The top tip doesn’t make sense....1:30 onwards....the 5 irons goes 125 in the air therefore get a seven wood?
Number 1 from New Zealand
Mike Owen thanks Mike! What’s the time there?
When I watched this is was 05:22
Really enjoy the honesty, shame you're on the other side of the planet as I would enjoy getting an honest fitting. Keep up the great content. 📈
Would you fit someone for ap2s from pw-7 then tmb 6-3?
D Du Plessis that potentially could work, what’s this players Club-head speed?

I would bet that launch monitor is underestimating your swing speed. Hard to get 1.45 smash factor with a club with so much loft.
Simon my driver swing is average 95mph. What do i need to work on in the gym to create extra speed?
Compound lifts, squats, bench, deadlifts, overhead press
@@johnyjackson6952 thanks for that. I am fairly fit and i am 58 years old and still do the gym and i will work harder on those areas. Thanks dude 💪
Hit 7 iron like John Daly hits the 3!

That’s as far as my Driver 😭
Can you re-loft them to normal 3-SW lofts? I would NEVER use a set with these lofts. Why did this trend start? Who is responsible? Foolish marketing.
