Kevin Grant I can shape the shot with these irons. They have great feel and distance. I hit my 7 iron about 170 yds with these. I love they way they look and feel.
Always played Titleist clubs. Switched 18 months ago to Ping i500 and Ping G400 woods. Love them. Perfect irons and woods. Improved my game. Great irons and woods. Love Ping.
I was fitted for the G700 irons last year (played 10 year old Nike Slingshots). As a high handicap golfer, I love them. I know that mishits won’t be punished as much. It makes playing more fun.. which is my goal.
I started playing in 2010 at 54 yrs old and after a short time learning the game,i started playing Ping clubs.First G2's then G10's and then G20's,since i lived in the Phx area it made a lot since to play PING. I could go there to get fit and have adjustments made at no charge. I retired about a year ago and moved to the mountains in eastern Az. and even thought i do love Ping clubs, when i recently got myself a new set of irons as a retirement gift. I went with Sterling Single Length irons! So glad i did, but if i hadn't it would have been Ping!!!
Played Ping ISI nickel 2-9 with beryllium wedges since 1998 and I LOVE them,......and then I hit the G710s the other day and realized the ISIs need to be retired. The wife's not happy, but I've ordered the G710s 4-U in black dot and I can't wait for them to come in! She'll live:)
Good morning from Near the Mississippi River in the middle of the States. Sitting here drinking coffee in my black jumper watching James. I still sport my Ping i3+ irons. Keep testing new stuff but still hitting close with the i3+'s so I may just use my money to get a new guitar instead.
I played Ping Zing 2 for 20 years after getting fitted by Ping in Gainsborough while stationed in England. Played the G for 2 years before moving to the G410 and absolutely love them. Paired with the Glide Stealth wedges to make a great setup. Always love your videos.
Started with Ping I3's then purchased the Ping G Irons. Love my Ping irons. I just recently got professionally fitted with Scott Felix at Felix Clubworks. He fitted me into the Ping G710 irons. I should get them tomorrow!! Pumped
I'm playing with PING KARSTEN II Irons that I bought 40 Years ago. Full set from Sand Iron through 3-Iron. Sent them back to PING about 5 years ago to be Re-Shafted with their newest Steel Shafts... They still play terrific! I'd love to see my KARSTEN II 5-Iron compared to the Black G710 5-Iron. I'd bet there wasn't a big difference between them....
I currently game the Taylor Made M6 irons.......... I was gaming Ping Eye2 irons. A huge difference. Yes, the M6's are a bit harder feeling. But on the rare occasion that I hit it in the middle...........they feel great. I'm not sure what I am going to do. Golf clubs are like cars. As soon as you drive them off the lot..........down goes the value. I might investigate changing. Depends on $$$. As usual. But the G710 irons do like very nice. Carry on James. Well done.
I just traded in my S59 Irons, 3-W, for a new fitted set of Mizuno JPX 919 Hot Metal Pro's, 4-G with UST Recoil 95 Stiff shafts. I played the S59's for the past several years with great pleasure. I am older now, 63, and needed a little help with keeping distance with the irons. I am back to where I want to be with the JPX's. I did try many other top of the line brands including, what I thought I would be purchasing, the Ping I500's. The Mizuno's won out because of the excellent feel.
I currently play a set of PING i200s (4-U wedge) and I've played them for years. My first set was a set of PING i2+ in 1988 after playing Wilson blades for years. I love PINGs! They are functional and tend to look the same across years of service.
My first Ping irons were Ping Eyes, then Ping Eye 2's. I even tried Ping Zings. I've had Ping Putters for years. I recently traded my 2004 Big Berthas for a 2018 Rogue iron set. Today I traded those for a set of Ping G710 irons. I am very happy to be home again. I even have an autographed photo of Karsten Solheim from a Golf Magazine ad many years ago. Long live PING!!!
I currently playing ping i210. I not only love them but I am from Phoenix Arizona and was fitted at the factory great experience amazing company I will be playing ping for life!!
Had an eye2 1 iron back in the junior days, loved it. Had a set of G2 for years, then i500s with black glide2 wedges. Still game my B60 putter from the 1990s.
I've played PING G2s for 16 years. Back then they were miles ahead in the world of custom fitting, and getting fitted made such a huge improvement to my game. I've changed out everything else over the years but couldn't be talked out of my PING irons. I'm finally going for another fitting here in a week, and while I'm going to trust the fitter, I'm going to be hard pressed to go away from PING. Leaning towards i210s, because they blend so well into the PING Glide 3.0 wedges, but want to try out everything (especially the i500s and these G710s). But what PING has done that is brilliant is they've kept their colour coding throughout - this breeds loyalty. I know my lie angle colour, and it gives me comfort. And the other thing they're doing now that I love - their irons come in different loft specs. That's brilliant and I'm suprised the other makers haven't copied it yet.
Understand your concern about the spin rate but what was the descent angle? I thought strong lofted clubs compensate for the lack of spin with steep descent angles. Is this not the case with the G710?
I think that James, along with Mark Crossfield when Mark reviewed the predecessor G700, are concerned with the spin rates of the irons NOT for stopping power on the greens, but over the fact that the lower spin rate can lead to inconsistent spin rates over multiple shots, meaning variable distances, north/south. I have used the G700, and you are correct that the high launch you get with these irons allows you to stop a ball on the green quite easily (I hit a G700 5 Iron, traditional 4 Iron loft, onto a green and spun it a back a few feet). My distances with them are fairly even, but every now and then one shoots off the face and travels a club length longer. Also, with all of the "hotter-faced" irons, be careful with short game shots. Pitches and chips rocket off the face and don't produce much spin into the green at all.
@@joeperez3520 Thanks Joe, very informative and useful. Regarding short game shots I am using Wilson D7 irons, which have strong lofts, but have only used them for a few, very wet, months. They are holding our greens very well at the moment but it might be a different story in the summer. (if we have one)
MAN those are SLEEK !!!! Ping has always been at the top of the Golf Game with their clubs !!! I am still playing the Adams V3 Forged set and they are all black and I love them ! All the ping irons I have played : Eye2 ( Non conforming ) Eye2+ SS & Copper (Conforming ) , Zings Copper , ISI Nickle, I20's, I may have to look into these G710's !!!!!
About the spin rates of the 710's: Spin can be very important for many shots, but peak height and angle of descent are also part of the equation. Would love to see this info for future Ping reviews.
As I progressed from starter sets and got a bit better I found Ping Game Improvement irons (G series) to be great clubs for that phase. As I learned more about lofts, lie, bounce etc and I got better I found that the Ping mid to short irons had too much bounce for my swing and was losing distance and ballooning shots. The long irons (4-6) remain probably the easiest to hit that I’ve ever tried which introduced the concept of mixing iron sets but that really isn’t something I’m a fan of. The G700s were just so massive and loud I could not get past that, they seem to have addressed some of that in the 710s but still not my cup of tea. Well done on the video!
Just got fitted with i500 irons-I know, late to the party, and my first set of Ping. I can honestly say I have no question in my mind that, though I didn’t try everything out, I feel 100% confident I would not have found a better club for me. Brilliant. And stunning as a bonus.
My fir ever golf set was a set of Ping Moxie Jnr. Absolutely loved them! loved the putter so much that used it until I finally changed it about 3 years back.
Got fitted for g410s last summer and spent the rest of the season getting used to irons that actually fit me, not off the rack. Even so my hc came down-when I swing them well, hello gir. Can’t wait for a full season with them coming up.
Every manufacturer tweaks lofts as distance sells. However, I don’t want to hit my PW 135 yards or my 5 iron 210. That being said, these clubs are gorgeous and I hope that the black finish has better durability than the previous generation’s silver clubs. As usual, PING is about forgiveness. I wonder how they figured out that they are 5% more forgiving? I would buy these clubs for the black finish, not the extra 5% in forgiveness. PLEASE BE DURABLE ! Undeniably, the star of this video is your dog! What would our lives be without 🐕 dogs? Keep up the great work James.!
I have played PING only since early 90's. Currently have 2 full sets (Eye2 and G410). I guess a 3rd is coming. I'm a lefty and PING has always had clubs available for me unlike me the others. This has changed more in the last years but I'm loyal I guess.
I've been using Ping i3s for 20 years. Ive demo'd a 100 different brands and I've not yet found a replacement for my beloved i3s. I'm gonna look into these G710s.
I have the Ping G20 s I like the short irons but not getting enough distance out of the 5-6 iron they are older 2011 thinking about upgrading my 5-6 iron a little more distance these might do the trick
I’d been playing Pings longer than Lee - in fact went for a fitting at Ping UK HQ with a pro who had fitted Lee some years earlier - but moved to Mizuno 3 years ago because Ping wanted upcharges for the shaft and grip I wanted. I see their attitude on shafts and grips has softened and they are now back on my ‘to try’ list. Would worry how long the pvd finish would last and agree with you re Arccos.
Hi James. When you said you could never game these clubs, It got me wondering how much difference you'd notice. I'd love to see an on-course comparison where you play a few holes hitting one ball exclusively with the G710s and another ball with your gamers. Love the channel. Keep up the good work!
I went out on a limb & bought the ping iblades. I’ve never been a ping iron guy but my oh my do I love my iblades. I’m going to upgrade to the blueprints toward the end of the year.
I have the other pings like these. They fly high and sound loud, kind of clunky. I found that they would be a hot one on some shots that would fly the green at times. Definitely a high handicap helper set of clubs. I’m sure these are the same way. I gave them to my daughter as they help her to get the ball in the air. I still like my old titleist 962’s.
James I never owned ping iron.but I love the driver G410-plus..if the iron are like the driver quilty..then I would love to try them. Been a callaway guy ..but looking for a change
I agree, you couldn't game these irons !What with them going directly @ the Green with pretty decent distances as well.Oh,, there was the PW outlier , you could have done better with that James.I've got the 700 Pings, but don't have enough rounds with them yet, turned weather. So far I Love them !!I'd sure like to try these Black 's with the miraging steel faces. Also looking forward to Ping 410 iron test.Just a Ol'Coffin dodging Senior here!
Had g10's red dot. Loved them. As I got better I was persuaded to change to s56's. Game then went bad. Irons were lovely, I just wasnt good enough to play them. Changed to g20's and played tidy again. Left ping in favour of callaway these days.
Started with i3 blades, went to S59 blades & tour wedges and last year swapped to i210’s and Stealth wedges! If I can get back to a single figure hcp, seriously considering Blueprints and Glide 3.0 or forged wedges!
Firstly, your dog is a little dude James! You didn’t say what his name was? He needs to make more appearances. I had Ping G10 irons and then I upgraded to G25 and had them right up until November when I opted for the Taylormade P790s which are the best thing I’ve ever bought myself. Keep up the great content mate 👍🏻
I went in today for a fitting. Even after watching the video I had my heart set on the Callaway Apex. I hands down hit these better than the Apex. I had several really good strikes with both and there is nothing like the feel of the Apex clubs. Still I struck the ball dead center on the club face more often and was able to generate a better launch angle with the Ping G710 brown dots. With the G710's even my bad strikes went 143 yards or more. Ultimately I ordered the Ping G710 even thought the two are comparably priced. Thanks for this review!
Could you compare the club in your bag that goes 182 (G710 7 iron distance) with these on a course and see how quickly you can get them both to stop? Curious to see if the extra height helps them stop like a more conventional iron
Eyes 2 irons ... I-15 irins... now using G 30's irons ..G 400 woods... Crazee putter... Ping answer wedges...50-54-58 degree. I just added a G410 7 wood...
Last set of Pings was the I3. Got rid of Ping Zings for them and was a terrible mistake to change. Multiple sets later I ended up with PXG. Since most of the design team was from Ping, I guess I’ve come full circle.
Wanted Ping eye 2 in early 1990's but bought Ping Zings. Never did enjoy the weird look but they were my first custom fit clubs. Never bought Pings again but always fitted after! So in the immortal words of Bill Murray "at least I got that going for me"
Hey James! Well, looks like you found some new irons for yourself! Good choice!!! lol. Personally I think the G 710 irons look and feel awesome. They perform awesome too. If I was buying new irons it would be those for sure. I tried them at my fitters. Now I play with hybrids and woods but I loved these Ping G 710 irons !!!! Wonderful stuff! Looks like your dog is holding out for the G 910 irons though!!! Cheers ! Stay well James. Great review as always. Joe
Enjoying the equipment reviews. What about a review / comparison of the new Wilson d7 forged irons against the much pricer P790's or Cobra forged Tec players distance irons ?? Please ?
Have to give a like for the puppy. Too cute. I owned the Ping eye 2 for about a year 1/2 but really wanted the Ping Zing 2 which were extremely forgiving
I go back and forth between G & I series, I like the forgiveness of G but it can drag in turf too much and thats why I like the I series, can I get both somewhere, mega forgiving without being a shovel?
Gaming Ping i E1s James for just over 18 months now and love them. Would personally ask for grip without the Arccos as I agree the annual subscription is poor, and I use Shotscope V1 GPS watch with club tags for similar if not better data gather. They do look sexy, stealthy black mmm mmm. But strong lofts? Can you still stop a 6 or 7 iron on a green from further out? 🤔
I had the i-500 irons two years a go and I didn't like it at all , lasted for three months,I did try to get use to it but didn't work.I didn't like the sound of the clubs and the feel.I don't think i would ever buy Ping irons again but saying that, i do love the Ping G410 Driver-Fairway wood and Hybrid's using them at the moment.
@edwin lambley Went and hit both the Mizuno MP20 HMB and JPX 919 forged. Absolutely loved both probably gonna hit them one more time before a make my final decision. I really liked the feel when hitting them with the Nippon NS Pro 105 shafts and a must is the golfpride midsize align grips.
@edwin lambley I made driving range out of couch cushions and pillows in my basement so I don't damage the walls or break window!😂😂😂I've been able to hit some balls over this long long winter. Hit'em straight
Ping are my favourites but I thump my irons rather than swing and the weights kept falling out but Ping did repair them FoC 5 years in..now if they bring out a little brother in black with higher lofts..
I have owned the Ping I5s and K15s. Overall I’ve been quite satisfied with them. I’m currently looking at the G425s or 710s. My handicap index is 11. Which would you recommend? Think I’ll err on the side of which one gives me more distance.
Totally agree James those Irons look stunning and the black/grey/black colourway on the face looks very classy. PS your dog looks adorable, he might need a YT channel of his own! Does he have a name?
Bought i20's a few years back but the chrome finish started delaminating from the heads. Replaced foc but same happened again. Then got free upgrade to i25 but also had the delamination issue. Changed to mizuno. Actually liked the pings but totally let down by the quality. What is the quality like these days?
James I have always been Callaway and I just don’t know what to do 🤔 I am getting fitted at the end of February beginning of March and in the pro shop we have Cobra 🐍 Callaway and ping please help cannot make my mind up I am going for performance not brand what would you suggest buddy????
Ping i3, G2 and playing Ping G irons now. Currently looking at G425, G710 and i500...enjoy your vids mate. Leaning toward i500, but worried about low spin. I have a hard enough time sticking greens!
I'm considering a set. I love everything about them but really concerned about the wear on the black finish. Can people who have had them for a while and played a bunch of rounds comment on that? I'm a high handicap and think they will really help me over my older set of Pings.
Great reviews James. I currently game the Original G700’s. Great clubs but they do have a hard feel oof the face which I don’t care for about the clubs. I am thinking of changing to a softer feeling iron. Do you feel based on your tests that the Mizuno HMB irons have a more softer, forged feel? I’m assuming the price point of these newer irons are similar? Your opinions are much appreciated. Thx.
Thanks James, nice looking clubs. One big thing you forgot to mention is the price. Over a grand I believe for a set which is ridiculous! Not worth it in my book. My Ping Gs were £75 per club a few years back, okay clubs, although I would now like to move on but I'm not paying silly money just because the 7 iron goes the same distance of my 6 iron, with less spin of course.
Good dog. Mine runs anytime I pick up a club. She is a rescue and I think she used to get beaten with something like them or a fly swatter. Poor thing cowers anytime I grab a club or a fly swatter.
Been playing G10'S since they came out looking for added distance. Very disappointed. Clunky, heavy and didn't gain an inch. Were harder to swing than my old Zevo Oversize. Going to go for a good fitting and try to pick up my off distances or go back to my old Zevo comp equip oversize and learn to live with the distances.
I’ve been playing Pings since 1983. I started with Ping Rails and currently have E1 irons. Love Ping Irons!!!
Kevin Grant I can shape the shot with these irons. They have great feel and distance. I hit my 7 iron about 170 yds with these. I love they way they look and feel.

Still using them lol.
My dad just bought the G700s last month! I think I’d better not tell him about these, he might get upset!
😀
I’ll keep a lookout for G700s on eBay
Will get fitted for these this week. Playing P790 and they are better irons than my swing allows. Had Ping Eye 2 years ago.
Great review, James. Your dog brought back great memories (and a few tears) of my dog Copper. Thanks.
Hi there, great video, thank you. Did you notice any wear / scratches on the black finish after using them?
I'm a Ping loyalist so I can see myself using the G710 irons
Bought my first set of Ping irons back in 1997 (ISI Nickel). Finally upgraded to G410's this last year.
Right now I'm playing the G15's. I've been considering the Titleist T400s but I will now seriously consider the G710s.
Please ?
My first set was my grandfather's ping eye 2 beryllium (and matching woods) ! I was terrible with them. But I was really proud of them
Have to give a like for the puppy. Too cute. I owned the Ping eye 2 for about a year 1/2 but really wanted the Ping Zing 2 which were extremely forgiving
Not going to lie. Kinda fell a little bit in love with them clubs. 🔥 🏌️♂️
I play I25 irons. Traditionally lofted, feel great, and do everything Needed when I do my part.
I play the same for the same reason (i25 driver as well)
Not playing Pings currently, but I loved my Ping Zing 2's. They were soo forgiving. May get another set of regular use. Those G710's look fantastic.
I got the g410 irons last year....so very jealous of these g710 as they look so nice with the same quality as the g410
I'm currently still playing G15 irons, looking to get a new set. Looking at Mizuno JPX 919 forged or Mizuno MP20 HMB.
Hi Robert. Iv just swapped my i500s for the Mizuno MP20 HMB. They offer me more forgivness and tighter distance dispersion. And they look amazing..
@edwin lambley I made driving range out of couch cushions and pillows in my basement so I don't damage the walls or break window!😂😂😂I've been able to hit some balls over this long long winter. Hit'em straight
I've been using ping for years, currently use s56 irons, g30 driver and g400 3 & 5 wood
Ping are my favourites but I thump my irons rather than swing and the weights kept falling out but Ping did repair them FoC 5 years in..now if they bring out a little brother in black with higher lofts..
Play all ping. Tried other brands and have come back to ping. On my second set of S55. Want the blueprints!
Terrence Hadley Good point on the Blueprint.
Played Titleist apart from a set of s57s. Had to have the milled faces. They were Savage! 👍👍👍
I started with Ping Zing2 in high school, then I3, I5, S56 and now G25. Might toss a set of these in my bag this year
I’m about a 8-10 handicap & never hit my irons that far & looking at these or the Taylormade sim irons. Which one do you prefer?
I have owned the Ping I5s and K15s. Overall I’ve been quite satisfied with them. I’m currently looking at the G425s or 710s. My handicap index is 11. Which would you recommend? Think I’ll err on the side of which one gives me more distance.
Totally agree James those Irons look stunning and the black/grey/black colourway on the face looks very classy.
PS your dog looks adorable, he might need a YT channel of his own! Does he have a name?
Bought a set of G700 irons last year. My first PINGS. Love them. How different do the G710 feel compared to the G700?
Awesome looking clubs. I still have A Ping G30 5 wood in the bag.
I started out with K1’s now I’m going to be fitted to g710’s and g410 metals! There is no other, only Ping!
G10s... GMax... now the G700s... I love these irons. Love my G400 Max driver.
Ping i3, G2 and playing Ping G irons now. Currently looking at G425, G710 and i500...enjoy your vids mate. Leaning toward i500, but worried about low spin. I have a hard enough time sticking greens!
Now then James, i25 then i210 over 7 years so far. Great clubs that do what they say and always look great 😀
I'm considering a set. I love everything about them but really concerned about the wear on the black finish. Can people who have had them for a while and played a bunch of rounds comment on that? I'm a high handicap and think they will really help me over my older set of Pings.
I currently have the G400’s and I like them but my goal is to lower my handicap and then get a fitting and I’d really like to get Mizunos honestly.
Thanks... enjoyed ....planning on buying a set this year,.
Ping fanboy here....have owned the g400’s, the i500’s, and the g410’s. For me and my swing, they just work.
Good dog. Mine runs anytime I pick up a club. She is a rescue and I think she used to get beaten with something like them or a fly swatter. Poor thing cowers anytime I grab a club or a fly swatter.
G10s then got fitted for G25s then Gseries irons love the brand .
Looks nice in black. Does it still come the dot for lie ?
Can you order these without the Acros stuff? Crazy to pay $170 per club & then in 3 months have to kick out more $$$.
I'm playing Ping S57's!! kickin' it old schoooool!
Distance improvement irons. Loud, not very predictable for carry. More people should try blades
Been playing G10'S since they came out looking for added distance. Very disappointed. Clunky, heavy and didn't gain an inch. Were harder to swing than my old Zevo
Oversize. Going to go for a good fitting and try to pick up my off distances or go back to my old Zevo comp equip oversize and learn to live with the distances.
