Thanks for watching! - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
The 6th gen 4Runner is still MADE IN JAPAN and that’s the reason I LOVE the 4Runner!
Is it really? That’s badass.. I like when the vin starts with a J
Niceeeee
They should move the production of their entire lineup there such as Sequoia, Tundra, and Tacoma
@@Sixman__ the taco is made in Mexico right?
@@IamJay02yeah. Surprising the new 4Runner will still be made in Japan when the Tacoma it’s based on will still be made in Mexico.
As much as I love Straight Pipes and Savage Geese, I get most excited for your review. Something about the POV and the periods of silence just taking in the experience... As a viewer it is so relaxing.
savage geese is well produced, but the two hosts are so uncharismatic
POV is just so much better
@@ck_carpenter Agree on production quality. They used to be better as a team but over time i've just found their schtick to be too much. They've leaned too far into it and it makes watching the videos less enjoyable, to me.
@@ck_carpenter That's the appeal. There's more than enough annoying "TH-camrs" who shout "whatisupyouguys? welcomebacktoanothervideo" and talk a mile a minute. I'm glad there's a car channel with normal people on it.
@@burntvirtue thtopher is normal and I like his videos. You can be normal and charismatic
Toyota is really going the right direction, who gonna say modern Toyotas are boring? Literally a dream to own
Toyota was boring until like few years ago.
I'll say it. They're ugly, overdesigned, underpowered, and goofy. 14" bolt-on tablets as an infotainment screen are lazy and hideous.
@@burntvirtue I sorta agree with over design and add they are definitely over styled. But, that is what people want these days. Little wow factor.
@@burntvirtuepeople praise the hell out of the over designed Kia and Hyundais. But when Toyota does it then it's "hideous"...at least Toyota is still reliable. Old school Toyota owners never cared for over stylized design and latest tech. We just wanted something FUNCTIONAL and won't BMW (break my wallet) in repairs.
@rayvalero8580 that's just cause people that buy those other brands have awful taste, most cars on the roads these days went from boring to fugly. Toyota is still the best looking imo
My dad had a 2016 4Runner and had an accident this week. The two vehicles were totalled, and the 4Runner saved his life! He’s planning to buy a 4Runner again 😮
Buy a used 5 th gen. Don't be a guinea pig.
@@mikeporro3311 He got the latest 5th (2024) Trd Off road 💯🙌
@@dannyp9090how’s your dad and his new truck now?
That engine bay looks like really expensive spaghetti to work on
Begging for a Kilmer approved beauty cover.
@@haplo819😂😂
@@haplo819 I can imagine the clickbait title being something like "TOYOTA IS SCREWED AND I'M AFRAID"
That's most Toyota's now. Toyota trucks are all junk now
Looking forward to you hooning this thing at Silver Lake. Also excited to see how that bluish green color on the Trailhunter looks outside of publicity photos!
I absolutely love that the drivetrains for most of the new Toyota vehicles are the same. It might seem like a “parts-bin” approach to design but it’s what makes Toyota vehicles so reliable; Jidoka is an excellent manufacturing mentality, especially when the parts across the lineup are similar if not the same, one fixed fault will improve the entire lineup.
And they all make good, solid power that’s competitive. They’ve brought their cars up to date, while still being “Toyota”. Same as Honda, not sure why everyone is hating so hard.
Yea well plenty of 4 banger turbo to create those reliable longterm reliability goals😂
Well, it's a result of the use of a global platform. Those used to be awful in the 2000s
They've been used in the Lexus models for years with no major issues @@papaglock58
@@papaglock58yeah, I mean we can just vote differently next time and then we won’t have to worry about small, stressed exploding engines being in every modern car anymore.
TOPHER!!! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU SIR!!! How dare you make us wait!! And suffer thru erybody else reviews!! Jkjk I love erybody reviews but yours are my fave and TOP TIER!! I couldn’t wait to hear your thoughts on this!!! Much love from DC! Keep up the great work!
congratulations on 700k!
God I love this truck! If I was ever in the market for a SUV though, the GX would be the business. Can't wait to see your review back on the home turf, thanks for posting!
Suggested my wife get a 2023 before the new one arrived. Glad I did. Don’t like the look of this one vs hers. The hybrid & turbo 4 is probably quick but give me the longevity of the 4.0 6cyl
Best decision you’ve made!
🤪
The perfect urban assault vehicle. Those potholes and curbs ain’t gon be shit after this.
As a Camry and RC350 owner, I love my Toyotas (and Lexus. Lexi?). I’ll never own another brand. They’re functional. They’re beautiful. They’re built well. AND THEY LAST! The RC is super fun. I’m glad to see Toyota refreshing their vehicles in ways that aren’t dramatically technological. Technology is great… But I personally want physical buttons. I don’t want to go into a separate climate menu to blast my a/c, etc. Just damn good vehicles all around.
We don’t need to know pricing, we know it’s going to be around $70 with dealer markups!!
70 bucks? I'll take 3 plis
I’ll take 5
I'll take it for tree fiddy
TRD pro will be $77k
One of the reasons I loved my 4Runner was that it didn't have too many technical gadgets. I like the simplicity of having a car that let's me drive. The technology is inevitable but I still wouldn't trade my 5th gen. Just gonna have to have both in the driveway.
Looking forward to seeing the base SR5 2025 4Runner🎉
The markups on this are going to be crazy
Bro lmfao it's gonna be like 100k
lol my dealers are marketing the land cruiser up by 10k minimum
not sure, interest rates are very high, my friend who works at Rice Toyota (larger dealer in NC) says their lot is full for the first time in like 3 years. It depends on how many units they release in 2024
5th generation TRD Pro looks better and has a more bulletproof engine. This naturally aspirated engine was unstoppable. Now, the prices 5th generation will go up. It's a pity that I didn't decide earlier 😞. Not every change leads to better results.
This is an EPA compromise. That is why most new vehicles are less reliable because of the tech involved. Companies are jumping thru flaming hoops trying to please the EPA.
you are not correct, they are selling BELOW MSRP. just got an offer on a TRD for 3k below sticker.
It's so weird not to hear that whooshing gush of air upon the engine startup, which is one of my favorite things. Definitely going to take some getting-used to.
the sound of the exhaust sheeshhh!! fiyaaa
The review I’ve been waiting for
Have always wanted a 4 runner and especially want one now
I'm really looking forward to the Tacoma TRD Pro drive videos!
Also, the new 4Runner looks fantastic.
I was waiting for this POV.
I like how u did this review!!
Watching this I have two takeaways: The first is that this is a gorgeous SUV(love that front end) and second, the Sequoia is smaller than I thought that it was. Huh.
New 4 runner further awakened! Very, very cool!
Big money! Yall have fun with it
this may be the first video I DIDN'T see you kick the dirt off your shoes!
I agree with you on the gloss black fender flares. If it were me, I would be putting some version of PPF on those at least. I do think that color would look pretty sick with stealth PPF on the whole thing.
They need to bring back the V8s at least on the Pros in the Amerian market
i cant wait for the Land Cruiser vs 4runner comparison. i think a lot of people are gonna have this dilemma.
Real Landcruiser has no equal to be compared
@@aknadiri2520 Real landcruiser ain't sold in the US. Plus the 4Runner is a great vehicle
I think Toyota will add the twin turbo V6 option to the Landcruiser in a few years. Its already in the GX550 Overtrail, which is the exact same thing, so I think its only a matter of time
Probably right. I think it will come with a future trim level that we don't yet have@@swimmer8585
Yeah the dilemma of what other manufacturer to go to. Toyota is overpriced and overhyped.
Impeccably designed grille!
Made sure I picked up a 24 before they changed them. I bought mine for long term ownership and proven reliability. When the 6th gen is on the road for 5-10 years and hitting 300k+ miles, I’d consider it. I also think the 5th gen looks better.
I think they nailed it personally. They look great
So you don't care about a sunroof? Or more room in the back seat. Guy was 5'10" barley with room
@@beatchampions1522 it’s a 4Runner. They’re not huge. I drive a GMC Sierra Denali so no space issues for me, but man I loved my 2018 4Runner.
I think they are hideous LMAO. Car design has fallen off so horrendously. I Dont get why companies think they have to make cars ugly to make more profits. Its sickening. I mean look at the new accord. I have trouble differeitnating it from a licolcn SUV. WHich are both hideous. And LED Headlights and turnsignals are terrible, as well as the ugly screens and digital gauges. Why is everything so cheap and ugly now? There is no class anymore.
First time I've seen the @thetopher not dusting off his shoes before entering the car! 😱😝
Great interior great exterior, but 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine for offroad with weight of the car around 4600 pounds...really? I can hop in my 2023 4runner tomorrow and drive it to the other side of the world without any doubt. With the new one, i dont know
Once the honeymoon is over people will come to their senses. My 5th Gen SR5 Premium lays down flat when you let the seats down not this 3inch hump
4.0 was not gutless...if you're rock crawling or snow driving _ what folks don't comprehend...you don't want a ton of torque in situations this vehicle was designed for....not on a drag strip or tarmac all the time. That's what the pedal commander type products are for.😊
Yeah that makes sense my guy because 90% of the population or I should say Toyota enthusiasts that buy this are going to use it for off-roading purposes or its actual designed capabilities right no pavement princess is here..seeing these on the road soon are gonna be clean as a wissle everyday😂
It's just people seeing a cool vehicle and making their entire purchase that premise and that premise alone nor actually use any of these vehicles for their intended purposes other than to look cool and say I bought one of the most expensive new vehicles making these manufacturers mandate as far as EPA standards and you're going to find out these vehicles are not that reliable bro going forward
They could have easily continued development of the naturally aspirated V6. Exactly what Nissan did and look at the numbers they obtained.
Toyota failed to understand their customers and blinded by marginal efficiency gains
@@MrCarGuy Turbo engines are about torque/power delivery, not efficiency. This new turbo 4 is undoubtedly better than the V6.
@mjkarger89 No it's not. This new 4banger turbo will blow out sooner then the V6 will fall apart. Given any engine with a turbo that's driven daily. This will happen in 50k to 100k miles. That's sad.
I love it. Once they add a 6 speed manual option we'll likely trade in my wife's Subaru on a 4Runner. If I didn't have to tow I'd trade my truck in too. Just can't do the automatic.
Yeah that engine really sounds spicy ,I actually thought someone was mowing a lawn next to you
That backup camera software looks the same as my 2023 which doesn't show your wheel alignment. VERY LOUD uncovered engine
Dang that 4runner looks good asf
Everyone seems to be missing what made the 4Runner so popular the 4.0 V6 engines. 😮
I gotta admit I was disappointed at the startup sound lol. So used to hearing it roar to life
My goodness 😍
i hope the after market gets down with tuner parts for these, and we get to turn up the boost, tuners, BOV, and exhaust systems for these
Was that lil handle next to the gear shifter inspired by the Hyundai Elantra?
Finally!!! an update Toyota 4 runner😌
Interesting that they chose the 1st gen Sequoia body (with a bit of a Pilot inspiration to it) for this new generation of 4Runner. Also interesting they went with a giant infotainment screen, but I like the complete redesign. Definitely will be on my radar in a couple of years.
Surprised you didn't comment on the times it went into hybrid mode. Cool it can run that long on battery running the fans and a/c. I imagine the motor will be more quite with the plastic shielding/insulation.
Finally the 4runner gets a power lift gate!!! 😊
Cause I think the past generation 4runners but the more modern versions haven't had a power lift gate just my expert opinion if what I just said makes sense 😂
absolutely love it!
Haven't watched the full video yet, but love the Tacoma SUV (it literally is). Only thing that upsets me is that the payload is only like 875 pounds which is kinda sad i don't know other than that I'd still buy it
I really wish the 4R TRD Pro would have those iso seats that the Tacoma has!
Yes they are just a dream to own for most at the estimated price tag😮😮
I love it!!! Thank u topher
I have a 5th gen and I am afraid about the room leg in the driver side on the 6th gen! So is it exactly to the new Tacoma interior to see the room space thanks in advance
Overall looks great, just wish they didn't shrink the backseat to make room for the hybrid battery.
This that dayum space shiiip 🛸🚀
Grab the previous one before they are gone!
I agree!
Had 2. Can’t wait for the new one.
4 cylinder 😮 that’s crazy
Love it, they finally updated it. Crossing my fingers I can get one for sticker by the time these drop, but highly doubt it.
A smaller engine is not an update
For us casuals, what's the performance difference between the shocks on the TRD Pro and the Trailhunter? If the TH is for lower speed, are the OMEs slotted in between the TRD Offroad and Pro for overall ability?
Looks pretty much like you'd expect it to. I'd have to see pricing on the lower trims. I know they like showing the higher trims because of their 200% profit margin, but they really aren't what most will buy.
are they coming out with the color on the Tundra? PLEASEEEEE
Beautiful 🤩
Okay, I’ll say it…the removable speaker is sick. I’m not a truck guy so I have no idea if that’s common lol
I am completely in love with this machine. I do agree that the glossy fender flares are a bit off. I might wrap mine when i get it.
im super curious what the price of the base TRD off 4runner will compare with the base price TRD off road Tacoma since they use most of the same components. sure the Tacoma is built in Mexico but the boxes are mostly checked on the Taco.
Do you know which trim has Heads Up Display (HUD)?
All these, and there is no market for lc300 or a lc70 that could pass inspection in the state?
Passing on this years, waiting for the twin turbo 400cc hybrid engine.
if i’m not mistaken i think the 4runner has always had roll down rear windows. my 87 and 97 (1st and 3rd gens) did
BTW - the Ineos Grenadier misses two small details - no pillar mounted handles to enter the rear seats, and the rear seats back is fixed and do not recline…ugh for $80K+.
That cars a hunk of junk
That is a fine looking SUV 🚙
That interior looks like it was crafted for fans of action figures and marvel movies
When do dealers get these cars?
How is the product placement of this supposed to be different from the new Land Cruiser?
The only issue is, ppl who but 4 runners dont care about power but if the vehicle is going to make 300k+ miles, these 4 cylinders wont let that happen
I’m a farmer and I like this for my daily use.
If you buy a 4Runner you got 4 cars in one!!! What a deal 🤌🏻
They look great ! However I am confused on how they are going to price the 4Runner and against Land Cruiser. I feel they are going to overlap each other. I guess that’s ok just have more to choose from?
The reason to get a 4-Runner instead of a Tacoma was the superior backseat, but it's actually worse than the pickup now. The backseat ingress, egress is terrible and the legroom is definitely tighter than last gen.
It looks the same as my 5th Gen and it’s definitely bigger than the new Tacoma’s back seat as I’ve already had the misfortune of trying to stuff myself into it when they had one sitting at my local dealership. The backseat of the 4Runner was never it’s strong suit anyway, but for it’s size, it’s usable space is still nearly class leading. I was waiting to see the new 4Runner before deciding between that and the new Tacoma, but it’s a no brainer for me to stick with the new 4Runner after seeing it now. I’ll be placing an order as soon as Toyota opens the order book.
Wicked bit of kit, if only we could get them in the uk😢
With the same TNGA-F platform across three vehicles [4Runner, LC, GX] I would assume the rear seat legroom would be essentially the same. Is that your real world experience when you have reviewed the other two in the past?
Rear seat is significantly smaller than the GX and LC. The LC/GX cabin is taller by 5 inches and has more vertical A pillars. The front seats are further forward as a result leaving more room for the backseats. The extra height also allows them to hide the hybrid battery better whereas on the 4runner it intrudes into the cabin space.
Premium fuel only I’m imagining for the Hybrid option?
Wouldve loved a trailhunter trim with a 3rd row.
Accessible for all 2025 Toyota units nationwide.
Looks better than the new Land Cruiser thats for sure.
If the trailhunter or the trd off road is under 55k, might get me one. I undertand that the trailerhunter will be more than 55k more than likely but it might be worth the extra
in my opinion this is more interesting for me than the land cruiser but saddly this model doesn't exist in Spain :( good video.
Such a shame it's not no V6 other then that it's perfect but since it's not a V6 I'll be getting a gx460
Well, now we know what the 2034 model will look like.
If the 24 Tacoma trd pro is 63k I can just imagine this bad boy holy hell
Couldnt do the manual eh Toph
How about 6'4" driver's seat leg room?
It still body on frame, and it’ll still be made in Japan… shoot man I’m sold 🤌🏽🔥🔥🔥
What's that noise on the first second ?
Huh I wonder why the blind spot monitor came on when he opened the door 0:04 that’s interesting considering the 4Runner wasn’t even on but ig it’s because it’s a preproduction model because it wasn’t even running due I would’ve said maybe it detects humans like how some BSM systems still detect cars when the vehicle is at a complete stop but that’s obviously when the vehicle is running not when it’s turned off🤔
Can't wait to pick up a 4R or LC in a couple years when the bugs are ironed out more
new Toyota trucks… “they sure do look pretty pretty in the repair shop! “
