I love the new facelift of the 2024 Tacoma, but that price tag is wild.
Some people like the new look, some dont. What we can all agree on is that the new engine sucks.

In the beginning I didn’t like substitute Topher, but now he’s growing on me. He’s so good for such a young man
growing up in northern San Diego county its neat see familiar places when you go to Cali to do these videos. I left a few decades ago but I do get a kick out of being able to say "I've been there" when I watch.
People drive really fast . My wife has a 2023 highlander limited awd with the 2.4 turbo . If we drive at 70-75 mph our mpg is around 28-30 mpg . But he we do 60ish I can get it up to about almost 40 mpg . At least that’s what the screen is telling me . And cruising manually with my foot instead of using the cruise control . The gas savings is big enough to notice .

the Fast Lane Truck bought their TRD off road in houston and drove it to colorado and they got 24.1 MPG and thats good enough for me.
Exactly. The last gen V6 will be lucky to get those MPGs.
@@jml9550my 3rd gen had to be on flat hwy roads and under 70 to get 21 mpg. Overall it averaged 17 mpg mixed. Terrible
@@beexiong2995 yep. I had a 2008 TRD Sport 2WD back, sold it in 2010. It was horrible in MPG, especially in City driving.

Great review. The new Tacoma looks great. Have the new Tundra and love it but thought about trading it in for this. Would hate to loose the interior space but to fit it in my garage... Decisions!

Im old and drive my 3rd gen round trip NY to Fla 2x a year. No stopping other than for gas and food. 19 hours straight and find my truck pretty comfortable.
Yea, I had a third gen and it was a manual - and I don't get what people were complaining about comfort.
im intrigued by the tacoma. i really didn't like the 3.5 in the old one. thought it was a step backwards from the 4.0. glad they gave this thing some torque again.
The 3.5 is great with a tune.

i live in the Middle East. kuwait to be exact, and we don’t get all the American made Toyota models. so like, the tundra, sequoia, taco, etc. im thinking of coming to the states and buy one that’s in underground colour and ship it back to kuwait. im kinda deciding between both the taco and new landcruiser which is named the prado here in the Middle East.

Yeah, when your truck breaks, use the manual light switch to flash people. Maybe another truck can pull you to safety.

The SR5 has coils as well. Only the SR’s have leaf springs.
In the Xtra cab they are still leafs.
17:18 you have to turn on auto mode. Last gen had a 6 speed automatic

Have you look at house, food price? Insurance and utilities price? Everything is up my dude. I am not saying the Taco is a bargain, just saying everything is up, car and home are the two biggest ticket items we buy, and the amount is so big that it feel it is a rip off…..but really those small price also creeps up, we don’t don’t SEE it since those are relatively small amount.

Completely new powertrain and it still has the "taco tick" just like my 2022 TRDOR. Love the new interior but not enough to sell my current Tacoma.........yet.

Pretty awesome fuel economy for what it is! People don't understand that the standard for trucks used to be like 13mpg lol. Happy to hear the NVH isn't bad either

8:50 - that 50-80 pull was shockingly fast…..
2024 Tacoma smaller gas tank 18.2 gals vs 3gen at 21.1 gals…means more stops at the gas stations..as it it gets the same gas mileage

Why the dash keeps flashing. Like the old analog better. Glad Nissan did not change there's.
LEDs lighting does that on camera. Doesn't do it when we see it with our eyes.
When is someone going to turn the traction control off and just see how invasive it is while power braking and burning donuts, that's what I'm interested in 😅

I wanted one so badly. I hate the giant center console. Imagine having this massive truck, but you have a tiny rectangle to sit in... completely kills the comfort of the truck
As a life long GM guy that has only bought GM trucks and one GM SUV, my next truck will be a Chevy Colorado Trail Boss but MAN this Toyota Tacoma LOOKS GOOD! I am VERY tempted to buy the Tacoma TRD OFF ROAD, but after the options I want its MSRP is $52K and after dealer markups I know it would be about $57K and even if I get a new old stock of last years model year a few years from now it would be about $46K at the very least and the Colorado Trail Boss MSRP the way I would spec it would be $42K and thats with 360 cameras, trailer package, and the 2 convivence packages, and the rest of the goodies I would add later so I wouldn't be paying interest on them for 6yrs. And since I will try to get a new old stock last model year still on the lot in a few years, it should be as low as $38K so yeah about a $10K difference and to me someone that doesn't want to spend over $40K for a truck thats more in my price range. And yes I know you get more off road suspension with that $10K in the TRD off road but I will try to get into some light off roading but probably nothing to extreme so the Trail Boss should handle the light stuff I will try.
BUT MAN THAT TACO LOOKS GOOD INSIDE AND OUT! AND THE SUSPENSION IS PURE OFF ROAD! But too bad for me I can't justify the $10K more about from the Colorado Trail Boss the way I would spec it, $42K vs $52K.
MAN I'm a triple black kinda guy BUT THAT GRAY accent in the interior POPS! MAN IT LOOKS GOOD! I WISH THE COLORADO TRAIL BOSS HAD THAT OPTION!
I hear ya...but they refuse to make a decent transmission. That's kinda important unless you're doing short term leases

Why is Toyota still giving out preproduction models? I've never seen pretty much all press coverage for a car with unfinished surfaces. Just seems a little bizarre they wouldn't try to show off the final product.

It looks nice to be honest. That mpg is still not impressive tho. My 23 Nissan Titan Pro-4x 5.6 V8 gets that on the hwy!! Toyota's going down hill fast. I traded my 2010 Tacoma TRD off-road in for my Titan, should have done it sooner.

I also found it interesting.
On my 2022 civic si what it does is it opens Waze in the background so that you can still get the hazard and radar notifications on the screen while using other apps on the screen. I do the same thing cause I prefer to use Apple Maps but like knowing if there’s a cop or something up the road

The way the back seats lock in the up position is such a lazy design, no other truck brand does it that way.

No hood struts, no engine cover, yet it's over 45K. I'm bit scared to know next gen 4runner's pricing.
But it has standard cruise control and a manual headlight switch. Oh and those back seat straps to hold it in place. Gotta love it.

google needs to fix the google maps app they better to put the arrow and guiding line in the center of the screen not in the lower right corner. same in tablets.

I live outside U.S. and I ´ve realized that is enjoyable driving in the highways because there is a few traffic and the cars are cheaper and affordable.

Toyota makes great vehicles but they do so stupid things with there designs sometimes. The front air spoiler looks terrible. Also that 14 inch screen does not fit at all with the interior dash layout. As a engineer I can’t believe that this was not question during the design process for this truck.
Gotta think about the intended market, I'm gonna love having on x pulled up on that bad boy.
You can remove the air dam with 9 bolts, you can get a smaller 8inch screen if you don’t like the big one. For off-road use the bigger screen is much better, higher resolution, clearer camera views, more map details etc
@alwaysiyi272 laughed at this. Better for offroad? How did people do offroad and enjoy it before cameras? By doing it by eyesight alone? Insanity. It reminds me of people going to sporting events and concerts and looking through their phones while they record. Taking a step backwards, thanks to technology. Pretty soon if a camera breaks you won't be able to function offroad when you're forced to look out the windshield. 😂

That's why I'm not buying it. I thought about the tundra but they took the V8 out of it. That little 4 banger with turbo won't see 100k miles. Over hyped garbage
