I don't think tank control, fixed camera angles would be a great option today. The genre moved on with RE4 and I'd hate to see that thrown away just for the sake of nostalgia. That being said, an optional mode with fixed cameras, etc. would be a great addition. Hell, RE5 Lost in Nightmares had that and that was just DLC.
Bruno Carrillo Remasters are just graphical updates. The first RE remake added content that wasn't in the original game. It's safe to assume the same would apply to the RE 2 remake.
RESIDENT EVIL 2 REMAKE: 1) GIVE US THE OPTION TO use overhead camera angle or re4/re5 overshoulder camera angle 2) Expand on the major events not elaborated(example how Wesker subdued Ada from dying not just lame wesker file report) 3) Give us more background on HUNK and what happened to him after RE2 4) Coop mode where Claire and Leon and beat the game and see the events unfold together. 5) Make Claire's and Leon's campaign if played separately, quite different from the each other's 5) Bring back Battle Mode( going through various levels with several characters(leon, claire, ada, wesker, HUNK, even chris was available)
They might as well just remake two and three and combine them into one game since they both take place at around the same time period. If they wanted to do a coop campaign which they probably do they could make it Carlos and Jill and then Leon and Claire campaigns.
2 camera modes -classic (fixed camera angle) ,modern(over the shoulder camera) same city with more details and more streets to explore,more mini games after you complete the game,more game secrets and more areas to explore that require multiple playtroughs ,more difficulty modes etc etc

Relating to a RE2 Remake, they should add the option of making it just like the original RE2. It would be so perfect. But regarding RE2Make, it needs to not only play good but also be scary. RE2 was scary as hell and it needs to have that feel.
To be honest, they should do away with the Zapping System since that alone caused so many contradictions regarding puzzles being reset and certain events such as the scene regarding Ada and Leon after the fight with the giant alligator. As for the puzzles, I understand why they were reset. My theory is that since each scenario was on a separate disc, the game just loads data from that regardless of what scenario it is. Thus, the game data just reloads the puzzles as if they were not solved. Anyway, they should also add extra story details, such as a more justified method as to how Ada escaped the lab as well as other details that were covered in later games that ended up retconning the original story. In short, make it a more complete narrative and add more characterization that was not possible in the original game that helps flesh out their character development as they fight to escape the city. For instance, as revealed in an expansion of a file in RE6, the fact that Leon was even considering offing himself either during or after the Raccoon City Incident, only to not do so for the sake of protecting Claire and Sherry. As for how the narrative should be told, it can be done one of two ways. 1) Co-op with Leon and Claire as they stick together, with the side characters replacing one of them when it's appropriate. Or 2) Have it be single-player and divide the narrative between Leon, Claire, Ada, and Sherry and have each character be playable in separate chapters, like in Revelations, complete with their own separate inventories. This would help in addressing how flawed the Zapping System was. As for gameplay styles, Sherry's would be more stealth-based and would require her hiding from enemies since she can't defend herself normally. As for narrative, obviously go with the canon route. All those ideas would make for a very interesting twist on how this game would turn out.

In addition to a co-op mode where Leon and Claire can work together a la the Darkside Chronicles, I'd love to see a lot of side missions like Alpha suggested. Here are three examples of good side missions the remake could have: . One showing Ada arriving in Raccoon City and her making her way through it and the Police Station, maybe encountering Chief Irons along the way, before she meets Leon. . Another with Annette immediately after her husband mutates into G and the outbreak begins. . Another with Sherry when the outbreak starts happening, and we have to navigate her through Raccoon City and the Police Station when pandemonium erupts. . One which introduces a tweaked version of Elza Walker (like what Alpha was saying) trying to get out of Raccoon City. They would have to make her quite different from Claire though.
For Resident Evil 2 ReMake I want, -Updated graphics, -Updated voice acting -Visuals -More Ada gameplay -More Sherry gameplay -More rooms -Side quest -More story -Extra game mode like Raid Mode or Mercs that is online to have a replay value. Venom NBK If they did On-Disk DLC with Resident Evil there would be a shit-storm. Capcom is hurting still from their poor business decisions with their DLC practices. From what they've showed so far they want to win back their fans trust but they are still walking a very thin line. They still have allot of work to do if they want our trust back.
What I'd LOVE to see is this. Take RE 2 and RE 3, put them together as three campaigns for Clair, Leon and Jill. Add Elza Walker, Robert Kendo, Roy and Marvin to the mix, with bigger roles to play. Maybe even sprinkling some of the RE Outbreak characters into the game as well, as people you can potentially save if you get to them in time. Where saving them could unlock items to use or areas to explore. Adding a bit of flavor to world, a sense of urgency and different outcomes depending on who you manage to save, if you save anyone at all.

CliffFitter89 The story was perhaps more focused, but it was nearly imposible to move, use the inventory quickly, or dealing with Sheva stupidity. The cross inventory was a lot more fluid in 6, and the amount of ammo was a lot more reasonable. Also RE5 is too short, and RE6 is like a G.R.R, Martin novel of content. But to each their own I guess.
Cinematic camera angles work really well in survival horror games, I liked how the first Silent Hill did it in a unique way. I think I'd hate to see a behind the back camera in a RE2 remake. More control over what we see I feel will make it scarier, which is what these games are all about, at least the first couple games. You hit the nail right on the head with what we'd all like to see, a truly epic horrifying experience.
Resident Evil 2 Remake should also come with Resident Evil 3 Remake. It makes sense just imagine if they combined the two into one game where you play as Leon and then later on as Jill and it has so many possibilities..

My first foray into the Resident Evil series was with the Resident Evil Remake. I was amazed. It managed to keep me scared and cautious through multiple play throughs. When Zero was released I snapped that up quick and also enjoyed that. While not as scary I like how it provided backstory (and I still hope that Billy Coen reappears eventually). I have always been sad that the later entries never got the HD treatment. I've heard so much praise for RE2 but the graphics keep me from touching it. Would love to see it remade to finally experience it.

Re-do Claire and Leon's lines with the same voice actors. 3. New areas and defensive weapons and new enemies. 4. Add bonus content that you can unlock via finding collectibles which would encourage exploration. Lastly... Add a special endurance mode to see how fast you can beat RE:2 remake for leader board score and special unlockables. Thoughts?
Amen good sir. I have been dying to see where the original idea for resident evil 2 was like. I have been trying to find at least a digital version of resident evil 1.5 because it makes me shiver in excitement at the idea to learn the original idea and map. I am getting ready for resident evil 0 remastered to come out so the game that got me started on my resident evil rave (re2) would be the best thing in the world. Hopefully they do this and see your video and realize we have been waiting for this a long time.

One of my most favourite gaming memories was back when we first got RE2 for the N64. My dad was the first to play it, and he shot about 4 bullets at the first zombie and said "my gun's not working!" before proceeding to try and run through them as a means of melee attack. He got killed on the very first screen of the game.
Just the other day I was playing the ps1 version of R2 with one of my mates, we are in our middle twenties and still love the game to death, great story and while playing it all we could think of was that a remake would be just great.
I seriously hope they do this! I grew up playing these games! was amazed by how well they done the RE remake after them saying their doing a resi zero remake this would just be the icing on the cake!
Third person with static camera is the best way to maintain the terror. Needs a few difficulties, really skimping on the ammo, to the point where you essentially have to save it for the bosses only, on the hardest.
I think an option to choose the camera would be sweet, the fixed cinematic camera from the original, a 3rd person over the shoulder cam and even a 1st person cam as that can add more horror just from the limited field of view! That way players can choose there cam to how they like best
I would love to be able to choose between the classic tank controls, and the Resident Evil 4 control scheme. I personally find it immerses me more the world than the fixed camera angles. Additional bonus content like the Mercenaries and Raid Mode being added for the more action side which I do find a lot of fun. In addition I think it is extremely important to make sure the zombies are executed correctly. They have to sound and look terrifying, similar to the Zombies from RE0 and REmake.
This would be an absolute good. In truth, I think I want 1.5 in its original form more than a remake, as I'm not sure how they could add to the original RE2 storyline-wise. Yes, Wesker was apparently in town during the game, but anything else? When it comes to unlocking, they could always do collect 50 items a la the Ninja Gaiden reboot or even the series tradition of beating the game without first aid sprays and saving. I'd do it again for 1.5 or other great extras!

Yeah, 5 was ok, but it was not a resident evil game and it all starts with four (big risk there) 6 was horrendous, everything went from bad to worse. Bolo T-Rex man?! Too many goddamn quick time events, stupid and forgetful enemies. 6 was a fucking shit heap of a game with the name of resident evil slapped on it like it was gold, but nothing more than turd polish.
4:40 onward made me smile the most in an odd way. I say keep the old puzzles, add new ones, new enemy types and environmental hazards. The Re3 choice like sequences when dealing with situations, and monsters that fuck with your head. But Revelations 2 gameplay. Yeah, bring back stalkers and Crimsonheads. Annnd... I say make Racoon city bigger, have RE2 and 3 happening at the same time. Playable characters, Leon, Claire, Sherry, Jill,Ada,Carlos and Eliza Walker. Have Outbreak stages incorporated in. (Like the Zoo and Mountains. And just more of that stuff.) to a non-linear story with RPG like choices. *CO-OP should be optional.* And should make sense in to what way. Example being Claire is probably not going to meet Jill. But their events and choices change the environments and story. (Pretty much Kojima fox engine to a degree) Though I'd say Eliza and Ada should be able to interact with the two groups really. Hunk should have relevance as well. There should also be a count down of a sort for how long you have to finish the game. Yeah, I went there. That missile strike. All of this would amount to great tension and replay value.
I remember when the game came out. My dad had it and I was still real little so he said I wasn't allowed to watch him play it. But I would sneak back there and watch him, and would get nightmares. But I still kept watching. And now it's one of my favorite games of all time. So I would love to have a remake of this. Or even a release of RE 1.5
As much as it would be awesome to see RE 1.5 I doubt Capcom would make it happen. The game was never completed, and even IF they still have the code (hard to believe but many developers actually lose the original code for their games) I don't think any of them want to trudge through mid-late 90's unfinished PS1 code.

I agree completely. It seems everyone forgets that Resident Evil 1.5 is unfinished. In fact there are videos of the game code that was made and the whole game lasts about 20 minutes.
I think they should have be able to choose between tank controlled fixed mode or you could use a over the shoulder mode. Also be able to change settings on those modes like having fixed camera mode not use tank controls and being able to use the old look for that mode too. And be able to make the over the shoulder mode have the option of moving and shooting or not moving and shooting.
I still remember the " win a part in the movie" promotion. Lol. I can also remember the first time I saw gameplay, Me and like a group of 20 people cheered some dude on while he tried to make it to the police station but he got destroyed.

Completely agree. I feel they should elaborate on the zapping system. more choices, perhaps more depth to them, and also a little more continuity with it. Like how you needed to repeat puzzles across both scenarios. Seems weird that you need to repeat them since you solved them with the other character... And I would LOVE if Birkins had different transformations. But what if it were based around the damage he took? I would think being melted with acid grenades would result in something worse than something that shot a thousand times with a shotgun...
Personally, I think the best way would be to have the options to 1) switch between over shoulder & security camera pov gameplay, 2) original script and redesigned script (including the content from RE 1.5), 3) RE 1.5 as a separate disc and the co-op option for on & off line (4 players - leon, claire, ada, sherry, or others mentioned in the video) and 4) we should have manuals back and maybe a poster through in while we are at that.
No, no co-op. This is precisely how excited people were when they introduced the idea in resident evil 5 and then look what happened. You can not have the same tension and atmosphere with two players, you just can't. They have resident evil 7 , 8 and nine to innovate that feature , I want the remake to be an actual homage to the original game play format as was introduced back with the original game. The evolution of the game has it so it can never go back to that so that is the only way to be able to enjoy what it was.
Oh my god.. If they remake Resident Evil 2 (which I hope they would do), I would get it in a heartbeat. Although I loved the original Resident Evil story, I liked this one just as much for Birkin. I just hope that they don't change too much of the story-line and-such, like they did with the Resident Evil Remake. It was good, but it seemed to much, story wise. The fixed angle adds to the fear factor.. you are unable to see, or know, what's around the corner until you walk it. I love it, bring it back. Now I don't know too much about RE 1.5 but it's very possible we've already seen most of what it had as it's very possible they used it's assets not only in RE 2 but in other RE games. The reason I think this is because of Wind Waker. Someone asked if they were adding the cut dungeons to Wind Waker HD and they said no because the assets for those dungeons were reused for later Zelda games. The same concept could apply here as I find it very possible that they used most of it assets for either RE 2 or for RE 3: Nemesis.
AlphaOmegaSin Square Enix had a stock price bump after E3 2015. It was all tied to that FF7 remake trailer. Capcom wants that kinda publicity calling back from their glory days. I'm not one for starting community movements or anything, but I'm sure you could contact Capcom or get their twitter brigaded with a petition for you to be involved.

Relating to a RE2 Remake, they should add the option of making it just like the original RE2. It would be so perfect.
But regarding RE2Make, it needs to not only play good but also be scary. RE2 was scary as hell and it needs to have that feel.
To be honest, they should do away with the Zapping System since that alone caused so many contradictions regarding puzzles being reset and certain events such as the scene regarding Ada and Leon after the fight with the giant alligator.
As for the puzzles, I understand why they were reset. My theory is that since each scenario was on a separate disc, the game just loads data from that regardless of what scenario it is. Thus, the game data just reloads the puzzles as if they were not solved.
Anyway, they should also add extra story details, such as a more justified method as to how Ada escaped the lab as well as other details that were covered in later games that ended up retconning the original story. In short, make it a more complete narrative and add more characterization that was not possible in the original game that helps flesh out their character development as they fight to escape the city.
For instance, as revealed in an expansion of a file in RE6, the fact that Leon was even considering offing himself either during or after the Raccoon City Incident, only to not do so for the sake of protecting Claire and Sherry.
As for how the narrative should be told, it can be done one of two ways.
1) Co-op with Leon and Claire as they stick together, with the side characters replacing one of them when it's appropriate.
Or
2) Have it be single-player and divide the narrative between Leon, Claire, Ada, and Sherry and have each character be playable in separate chapters, like in Revelations, complete with their own separate inventories. This would help in addressing how flawed the Zapping System was. As for gameplay styles, Sherry's would be more stealth-based and would require her hiding from enemies since she can't defend herself normally.
As for narrative, obviously go with the canon route.
All those ideas would make for a very interesting twist on how this game would turn out.

In addition to a co-op mode where Leon and Claire can work together a la the Darkside Chronicles, I'd love to see a lot of side missions like Alpha suggested.
Here are three examples of good side missions the remake could have:
. One showing Ada arriving in Raccoon City and her making her way through it and the Police Station, maybe encountering Chief Irons along the way, before she meets Leon.
. Another with Annette immediately after her husband mutates into G and the outbreak begins.
. Another with Sherry when the outbreak starts happening, and we have to navigate her through Raccoon City and the Police Station when pandemonium erupts.
. One which introduces a tweaked version of Elza Walker (like what Alpha was saying) trying to get out of Raccoon City. They would have to make her quite different from Claire though.

Dude you speak with such passion that it took me back to RE2 days being that this was the first one I played. Hopefully they bring back Hunk's playable mission too.
1: Keep the original music, it was eerie as fuck.
2: The highest quality graphics possible.
3: New costumes.
4: Unlimited saves, I always found ink ribbons more annoying than challenging.
5: The option for Over the shoulder or Fixed Camera.
6: Horde mode.
7: Another playable character with an interconnected campaign. (same way Leon and Clair's intersect)
8: For fucks sake no bullshit Trophies (beat the game under some absurd conditions, Beat the game in Co-Op, any online Trophies)
9: Most importantly NO ON DISC DLC, AND NO MICROTRANSACTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

From what they've showed so far they want to win back their fans trust but they are still walking a very thin line. They still have allot of work to do if they want our trust back.

What I'd LOVE to see is this. Take RE 2 and RE 3, put them together as three campaigns for Clair, Leon and Jill. Add Elza Walker, Robert Kendo, Roy and Marvin to the mix, with bigger roles to play. Maybe even sprinkling some of the RE Outbreak characters into the game as well, as people you can potentially save if you get to them in time. Where saving them could unlock items to use or areas to explore. Adding a bit of flavor to world, a sense of urgency and different outcomes depending on who you manage to save, if you save anyone at all.
Final Fantasy 7 is finally getting a remake. Why not RE2? Fans have been asking for it for years now. MAKE IT HAPPEN CAPCOM!

Last Green Horn I find RE Remake to be really sweet, but I'll just play the original more often I don't know why. Also I can't understand how people would like 5 more than 6. 5 is a nightmare, and not in the good way...
big I actually prefer 5 over the bloated and all over the place RE6. Seeing buffed up steroid addicted beefcake Chris punching the fucking lava boulder and pushing it off the cliff is a gem on its own and it gave me chuckles.
CliffFitter89 The story was perhaps more focused, but it was nearly imposible to move, use the inventory quickly, or dealing with Sheva stupidity. The cross inventory was a lot more fluid in 6, and the amount of ammo was a lot more reasonable. Also RE5 is too short, and RE6 is like a G.R.R, Martin novel of content. But to each their own I guess.
Cinematic camera angles work really well in survival horror games, I liked how the first Silent Hill did it in a unique way. I think I'd hate to see a behind the back camera in a RE2 remake. More control over what we see I feel will make it scarier, which is what these games are all about, at least the first couple games. You hit the nail right on the head with what we'd all like to see, a truly epic horrifying experience.

My first foray into the Resident Evil series was with the Resident Evil Remake. I was amazed. It managed to keep me scared and cautious through multiple play throughs.
When Zero was released I snapped that up quick and also enjoyed that. While not as scary I like how it provided backstory (and I still hope that Billy Coen reappears eventually).
I have always been sad that the later entries never got the HD treatment. I've heard so much praise for RE2 but the graphics keep me from touching it. Would love to see it remade to finally experience it.

1. Same camera angles(maybe a 3rd person camera as a bonus for beating the game).
2. Re-do Claire and Leon's lines with the same voice actors.
3. New areas and defensive weapons and new enemies.
4. Add bonus content that you can unlock via finding collectibles which would encourage exploration.
Lastly...
Add a special endurance mode to see how fast you can beat RE:2 remake for leader board score and special unlockables.

Amen good sir. I have been dying to see where the original idea for resident evil 2 was like. I have been trying to find at least a digital version of resident evil 1.5 because it makes me shiver in excitement at the idea to learn the original idea and map. I am getting ready for resident evil 0 remastered to come out so the game that got me started on my resident evil rave (re2) would be the best thing in the world. Hopefully they do this and see your video and realize we have been waiting for this a long time.

One of my most favourite gaming memories was back when we first got RE2 for the N64. My dad was the first to play it, and he shot about 4 bullets at the first zombie and said "my gun's not working!" before proceeding to try and run through them as a means of melee attack. He got killed on the very first screen of the game.
Just the other day I was playing the ps1 version of R2 with one of my mates, we are in our middle twenties and still love the game to death, great story and while playing it all we could think of was that a remake would be just great.

Third person with static camera is the best way to maintain the terror. Needs a few difficulties, really skimping on the ammo, to the point where you essentially have to save it for the bosses only, on the hardest.

I think an option to choose the camera would be sweet, the fixed cinematic camera from the original, a 3rd person over the shoulder cam and even a 1st person cam as that can add more horror just from the limited field of view! That way players can choose there cam to how they like best
I hope they will let you chose your camera like original angle and something more recent like TPV or whatever.
I would love to be able to choose between the classic tank controls, and the Resident Evil 4 control scheme. I personally find it immerses me more the world than the fixed camera angles. Additional bonus content like the Mercenaries and Raid Mode being added for the more action side which I do find a lot of fun.
In addition I think it is extremely important to make sure the zombies are executed correctly. They have to sound and look terrifying, similar to the Zombies from RE0 and REmake.
This would be an absolute good. In truth, I think I want 1.5 in its original form more than a remake, as I'm not sure how they could add to the original RE2 storyline-wise. Yes, Wesker was apparently in town during the game, but anything else?
When it comes to unlocking, they could always do collect 50 items a la the Ninja Gaiden reboot or even the series tradition of beating the game without first aid sprays and saving. I'd do it again for 1.5 or other great extras!
If this happens I'm going to cry tears of joy and play this game like the True Resident Evil fans we are. Not like 5&6 pfft!! There's no place for that garbage anywhere.

I say keep the old puzzles, add new ones, new enemy types and environmental hazards. The Re3 choice like sequences when dealing with situations, and monsters that fuck with your head. But Revelations 2 gameplay.

Annnd... I say make Racoon city bigger, have RE2 and 3 happening at the same time. Playable characters, Leon, Claire, Sherry, Jill,Ada,Carlos and Eliza Walker. Have Outbreak stages incorporated in. (Like the Zoo and Mountains. And just more of that stuff.) to a non-linear story with RPG like choices. *CO-OP should be optional.* And should make sense in to what way.
Example being Claire is probably not going to meet Jill. But their events and choices change the environments and story. (Pretty much Kojima fox engine to a degree)
Though I'd say Eliza and Ada should be able to interact with the two groups really.
Hunk should have relevance as well.
There should also be a count down of a sort for how long you have to finish the game. Yeah, I went there. That missile strike.
All of this would amount to great tension and replay value.

I remember when the game came out. My dad had it and I was still real little so he said I wasn't allowed to watch him play it. But I would sneak back there and watch him, and would get nightmares. But I still kept watching. And now it's one of my favorite games of all time. So I would love to have a remake of this. Or even a release of RE 1.5
As much as it would be awesome to see RE 1.5 I doubt Capcom would make it happen. The game was never completed, and even IF they still have the code (hard to believe but many developers actually lose the original code for their games) I don't think any of them want to trudge through mid-late 90's unfinished PS1 code.
Well the code must be still around because there is actually a playable version of what little was made of 1.5.

In fact there are videos of the game code that was made and the whole game lasts about 20 minutes.

I think they should have be able to choose between tank controlled fixed mode or you could use a over the shoulder mode. Also be able to change settings on those modes like having fixed camera mode not use tank controls and being able to use the old look for that mode too. And be able to make the over the shoulder mode have the option of moving and shooting or not moving and shooting.
You're right. They should flesh out the story with Marvin and Kendo like they did for REmake with the Lisa Trevor subplot.

Completely agree. I feel they should elaborate on the zapping system. more choices, perhaps more depth to them, and also a little more continuity with it. Like how you needed to repeat puzzles across both scenarios. Seems weird that you need to repeat them since you solved them with the other character... And I would LOVE if Birkins had different transformations. But what if it were based around the damage he took? I would think being melted with acid grenades would result in something worse than something that shot a thousand times with a shotgun...
Personally, I think the best way would be to have the options to 1) switch between over shoulder & security camera pov gameplay, 2) original script and redesigned script (including the content from RE 1.5), 3) RE 1.5 as a separate disc and the co-op option for on & off line (4 players - leon, claire, ada, sherry, or others mentioned in the video) and 4) we should have manuals back and maybe a poster through in while we are at that.

You can not have the same tension and atmosphere with two players, you just can't. They have resident evil 7 , 8 and nine to innovate that feature , I want the remake to be an actual homage to the original game play format as was introduced back with the original game. The evolution of the game has it so it can never go back to that so that is the only way to be able to enjoy what it was.
Oh my god.. If they remake Resident Evil 2 (which I hope they would do), I would get it in a heartbeat. Although I loved the original Resident Evil story, I liked this one just as much for Birkin. I just hope that they don't change too much of the story-line and-such, like they did with the Resident Evil Remake. It was good, but it seemed to much, story wise. And I totally agree with you on the Fixed camera thing, it's awesome, they should keep it that way. I don't mind the over the shoulder angle; But this is Resident Bucking Evil maaan!!! The fixed angle adds to the fear factor.. you are unable to see, or know, what's around the corner until you walk it. I love it, bring it back.

Also, imagine all the quality of the boss themes and such will receive if they remake the old tunes as well.
Now I don't know too much about RE 1.5 but it's very possible we've already seen most of what it had as it's very possible they used it's assets not only in RE 2 but in other RE games. The reason I think this is because of Wind Waker. Someone asked if they were adding the cut dungeons to Wind Waker HD and they said no because the assets for those dungeons were reused for later Zelda games. The same concept could apply here as I find it very possible that they used most of it assets for either RE 2 or for RE 3: Nemesis.

Square Enix had a stock price bump after E3 2015. It was all tied to that FF7 remake trailer. Capcom wants that kinda publicity calling back from their glory days.
I'm not one for starting community movements or anything, but I'm sure you could contact Capcom or get their twitter brigaded with a petition for you to be involved.
I had no idea about any of the stuff that was cut from Resident Evil 2. But it sounds like it would've made that great game so much better.
I'd like to see an option for both Over-the-shoulder and fixed camera options if it happens.
