If Kojima wasn't involved with Metal Gear Solid V, the game would be skipped, but I will support his last game within his excellent franchise. I read Kojima and del Toro were going to do their own version of silent hills. It couldn't be actual SH, though, obviously. Either way, I don't care what Krapnomi does anymore. Man... Silent Hill. It means a lot to me. I've been with Silent Hill from the very beginning and its still one of my top favourites games of all times, including soundtracks. I was so sad to see what happened to Silent Hill these days.
Best case scenario: All the Konami talent quits over many years. Another company starts with the old talent. Konami goes bankrupt and by then the new company can afford to buy all the IPs back at a bargain. Thats the only way to get the corporate leeches away from the IPs.

He asked what systems I owned and I told him XboxOne and WiiU for current gen and his eyes lit up and asked if Iwas gonna get the upcoming Metal Gear game, I told him without hesitation "I will never put any money on or towards a product that has "Konami" on it from here on out, fuck Konami and what they've done". This was a juggernaut of a company, a huge one that rivaled Capcom's Resident Evil and was welcomed by pretty much all horror fans. Then they made Metal Gear Solid a phenomenal franchise that was masterfully crafted. Zone of the Enders, a franchise that was short lived, also captured my immense interest. It is still perhaps my favorite Mech game, with how fast and fluid the gameplay is, one of the best soundtracks of all time (for me ). If you told me 10 years ago that Konami was going to fuck over every franchise and fan, I'd laugh in your face, now? FFS :/ makes me depressed.

PT was cancelled due to the Casino Plan, but recently Konami is talking about returning to Game Development. Though the creator of Silent Hill left Konami shortly after they cancelled PT due to being upset with Konami.
Just a curiosity question (not an excuse): Around the time these disasters started (including losing Koji Igarashi), was there a major management shift, or some edict from the Japanese branch that shifted the American branch's focus? I'm reminded of Bobby Kotick taking control of Activision and the night and day consumer and development approaches they took at that time.
Well, if they wanna fuck up their company they can go right ahead. I bought MGSV and that was for Kojima. Bitches ain't gettin' no more of my money until I'm sure they've got their shit together.
Honestly, what these companies need to do with some of these properties is hand them out to three or so third party studio's (ones who are excited and respect the IP) and then run crowdfunding campaigns. Not to fully fund them, but to let the fans decided who they trust and how they want the legacy to be handled. Then back the winners with the appropriate funding. You can also try out new ideas and expand the franchise as well... Honestly I think things like Parasite eve would work well in an xcom or FF tactics scenario, ect... But this would be less exhausting and less risky for the publishers/parent company, would keep the IPs going, allow them to explore other avenues, keep them connected to the fans, and ultimately build the industry. I am not saying this is the only method, but for waning or abandoned IPs I believe it will work.

i literally listen to the silent hill soundtracks almost daily..If they were going to bring back another silent hill at all..I would hope that Akira Yamaoka would come back and do the soundtrack again..in my eyes he definitely set a lot of the tone in the atmosphere within the game

This is similarly to how I felt about the Castlevania Pachinko machine. Castlevania was my childhood and the characters actually looked epic in the trailer (mainly Richter and Dracula) and I was so depressed.

I didn't even know about the existence of Pachinko machines, or how they are working. This is so sad, for a long time Silent Hill fan like me. Well the Pachinko version of Silent Hill is not a problem by its own, it's the fact that Konami seems to enter a sell out phase, we are not going to see them doing anything creative, or artistic anymore, heck we are not going to see them in Europe and the U.S. market anymore. I miss the Konami of my childhood.
The writing on the wall has been there for some time. Konami is shifting focus to the electronic gambling space. I'm guessing there are lower development and production costs and higher margin on them over the manufacturing of console or computer games.

Man... Silent Hill. It means a lot to me. I've been with Silent Hill from the very beginning and its still one of my top favourites games of all times, including soundtracks. I was so sad to see what happened to Silent Hill these days.
Best case scenario: All the Konami talent quits over many years. Another company starts with the old talent. Konami goes bankrupt and by then the new company can afford to buy all the IPs back at a bargain. Thats the only way to get the corporate leeches away from the IPs.

I went into a game store few days ago to pick up Rare Replay (fucking fantastic bundle of games, well worth the $29.99) and one of the guys working there wanted to strike up friendly conversation of gaming and games. He asked what systems I owned and I told him XboxOne and WiiU for current gen and his eyes lit up and asked if Iwas gonna get the upcoming Metal Gear game, I told him without hesitation "I will never put any money on or towards a product that has "Konami" on it from here on out, fuck Konami and what they've done".
This was a juggernaut of a company, a huge one that rivaled Capcom's Resident Evil and was welcomed by pretty much all horror fans. Then they made Metal Gear Solid a phenomenal franchise that was masterfully crafted. Zone of the Enders, a franchise that was short lived, also captured my immense interest. It is still perhaps my favorite Mech game, with how fast and fluid the gameplay is, one of the best soundtracks of all time (for me ). If you told me 10 years ago that Konami was going to fuck over every franchise and fan, I'd laugh in your face, now? FFS :/ makes me depressed.

You're so right. That trailer pulled the right heart strings like it was nobody's buisness. Especially when Silent Hill 2 music (my favorite soundtrack) played I got physically pissed. When this happens to Metal Gear is the final nail in the coffin for me and Konami. But I did hear that Silent Hills was still in development just under a different name.

PT was cancelled due to the Casino Plan, but recently Konami is talking about returning to Game Development. Though the creator of Silent Hill left Konami shortly after they cancelled PT due to being upset with Konami.
Just a curiosity question (not an excuse): Around the time these disasters started (including losing Koji Igarashi), was there a major management shift, or some edict from the Japanese branch that shifted the American branch's focus? I'm reminded of Bobby Kotick taking control of Activision and the night and day consumer and development approaches they took at that time.
Well, if they wanna fuck up their company they can go right ahead. I bought MGSV and that was for Kojima. Bitches ain't gettin' no more of my money until I'm sure they've got their shit together.

Honestly, what these companies need to do with some of these properties is hand them out to three or so third party studio's (ones who are excited and respect the IP) and then run crowdfunding campaigns. Not to fully fund them, but to let the fans decided who they trust and how they want the legacy to be handled. Then back the winners with the appropriate funding. You can also try out new ideas and expand the franchise as well... Honestly I think things like Parasite eve would work well in an xcom or FF tactics scenario, ect...
But this would be less exhausting and less risky for the publishers/parent company, would keep the IPs going, allow them to explore other avenues, keep them connected to the fans, and ultimately build the industry.
I am not saying this is the only method, but for waning or abandoned IPs I believe it will work.
I remember being at the local casino and noticing the Poker Machines with Konami emblazoned on them. Then I saw your video about Castlevania pachinko machines. I wonder how long it will take before I see Castlevania and Silent Hills poker machines.
Konami are leaving not just the gaming industry, but most likely business altogether. I'm willing to bet that all of this is them cashing in their reputation for a few more pennies so the higher-ups can jump out just before their company self destructs and live a retirement in utter luxury for the rest of their lives. i literally listen to the silent hill soundtracks almost daily..If they were going to bring back another silent hill at all..I would hope that Akira Yamaoka would come back and do the soundtrack again..in my eyes he definitely set a lot of the tone in the atmosphere within the game

This is similarly to how I felt about the Castlevania Pachinko machine. Castlevania was my childhood and the characters actually looked epic in the trailer (mainly Richter and Dracula) and I was so depressed.

I didn't even know about the existence of Pachinko machines, or how they are working. This is so sad, for a long time Silent Hill fan like me. Well the Pachinko version of Silent Hill is not a problem by its own, it's the fact that Konami seems to enter a sell out phase, we are not going to see them doing anything creative, or artistic anymore, heck we are not going to see them in Europe and the U.S. market anymore. I miss the Konami of my childhood.
