I want to know too. We now know that he still "functions" off camera, but up to just how much? Not necessarily a full video, even if it's just a reply or a pinned comment.
According to the devs his hearing is better the farther he is from you, so he will zero in one the place that the noise gets him to. But it seems certain floors/rooms work with each other, for example the main hall, he will get to 3F quickly because it's the same room.
Also, the sound of Mr X's footsteps always sent shivers down my spine... Such a frightening sound to hear and especially when they start to get closer lol
Honestly I am fascinated with Mr. X. One of the more interesting antagonists in a video game I have played ever. I really do love how in the harder difficulty he is always right there. Always a few steps behind or in front of you. Keeps the tension high. Gives me heart problems too 😂
I love watching this kind of videos to learn about how developers chose to move certain models or just to see how something happened. It also makes me kinda “proud” to see how much effort they put on the camera and lighting direction, they even did a “live action” set for the flashback cinematic and put an old filter on it, that’s so cool and smart! This is not only making a videogame but kinda making a movie (and i know this is not the only game that has this but yea, its so cool!)
So the part behind the prison cell, you have to admit they did not need to fully animate Mr. X there, they could've just had an arm but I find it so cool that so much effort and a lot of it unseen went into this game, the people who worked on it deserve major respect.
2:50 That is called "object pooling" (like having a pool filled with game objects) which consist in having all heavy models (game objects with animations, quests, triggers, even particles Fx's or alike) loaded into the level to avoid instantiate them in real time, because instantiate (loading them into the level) this kinda of game objects, have a huge impact on cpu and gpu, causing game to crash. And no, that isn't a T pose. That is an A pose (Anette for example). T pose is when the models have, well, a T pose (is not a good practice using a T pose to modelate real like characters, when weight painting them you end with very clunky/weird/unrealistic moves from the arms and chest)
I love how they incorporated Tyrant in the remake. It adds a whole new level of suspense with him pursuing you throughout such a large portion of the game. Kudos to Capcom for yet another fantastic game!
this makes me chill.. In real life, sometimes I think that we have off cameras too,, when we dont look at one particular way, I feel like the world in that particular area playing tricks on me.. I dont know, I guess it's just me
When I first played the section as Claire, I didn't know Mr.X's mechanism and was running all the time. And of course, I am always being chased and got me really stressed. Then I played the section as Leon and realized if you keep quiet your chance of being discovered greatly reduces. You can even walk right behind him provided he doesn't suddenly turn around.
It’s crazy and pretty cool concept that he doesn’t actually disappear from the actual map an even when you can’t hear him he’s still walking through the whole station

He's so uncanny to me. Not only the way he looks but the fact that your can hear his footsteps and he could be ANYWHERE searching for you. All that while you're exploring trying to solve things. I hate it, it's so well done
6:11 is where he mentions Mr. X moving around off camera.
@14:20 I'm still amazed by how well this boss is animated.
Wait, G5 does have Birkin’s face on him ingame after all?!
That’s so nightmare fuel right there! Xx
i never considered that characters outside of view in cinematics outright disappear or are not animated during that time. Mind blown.
not all games does this, but the most optmized games to save resources does, gta v did this, but some games don't do this at alll
10:26 Mom as soon as the DS lit up from under my covers
such an underrated youtube channel, great work
Thank you, appreciate the support!
@@SlippySlides we support you thanks for the video
What happens if you shoot in the hallway somewhere while Mr X is looking for you and he's on the other side of the police station...? Does he teleport faster to you or does he just walk quickly to the room you're located in? Please test this
Jesus
This video is good enough lol
I want to know too. We now know that he still "functions" off camera, but up to just how much? Not necessarily a full video, even if it's just a reply or a pinned comment.
According to the devs his hearing is better the farther he is from you, so he will zero in one the place that the noise gets him to. But it seems certain floors/rooms work with each other, for example the main hall, he will get to 3F quickly because it's the same room.
@@shis1988 link please?
This is so impressive. Hats off to the team who worked on this game.
Gives me heart problems too 😂
Q: How Does characters Work Off Camera?
A: Suddenly appear
Damn, the lights in the garage are really advanced, knowing who’s currently deserving of the spotlight
Imagine how this is gonna make the Nemesis when they remake RE3 o_O
Better put on your running shoes
Soooooon
Well, they apparently want to remake it. YEET! *runs as fast as ever*
@@Fr0staX its already ready for pre order , comes out in April
@@rayholliday5134 For real? HELL YEAH!
Ah yes the video I’ve been waiting for!
Edit: The lighting in this game is astonishing.
Sometimes I wish the flashlight was a little bit brighter 😂
I agree. Very exceptional lighting
Great video. So cool Mr. X is really searching when you hear the footfalls.
I love how they incorporated Tyrant in the remake. It adds a whole new level of suspense with him pursuing you throughout such a large portion of the game. Kudos to Capcom for yet another fantastic game!
During Clair B playthrough I hid in the STARS office several times from X because it’s one of the few places he can’t go in, pretty scary dude
Games really are art. I find these little tricks and design shortcuts so fascinating lol
The Birkin flashback makes me wonder what the "nestwrecker" tapes would look like without a fixed camera
this makes me chill..
In real life, sometimes I think that we have off cameras too,,
when we dont look at one particular way, I feel like the world in that particular area playing tricks on me..
I dont know,
I guess it's just me
The lighting for the cutscenes is awesome, literally just like a movie or a play.
Absolutely sick attention to detail: When Mr X goes down and you stand near him, you can hear the leather from his coat crinkle.
This game is a fuckin masterpiece.
Great video dude
Thanks Capcom
When I first played the section as Claire, I didn't know Mr.X's mechanism and was running all the time. And of course, I am always being chased and got me really stressed. Then I played the section as Leon and realized if you keep quiet your chance of being discovered greatly reduces. You can even walk right behind him provided he doesn't suddenly turn around.
Mr.X without hat = Thanos 2.0
Edited = well Its true

It’s crazy and pretty cool concept that he doesn’t actually disappear from the actual map an even when you can’t hear him he’s still walking through the whole station
2:11 Man, the cutscenes with the modded camera look like behind the scenes on a film set
SO COOL
I had already read an interview with Yoshiaki Hirabayashi were they had asked him about does Mr X actively look for you
So?
Absolutely love these “behind the scenes” breakdowns that you put together. Fascinating for nerds like me to see how it all works. Cant wait to see some RE3make videos when it comes out. Great work, sir!
7:00 It's a little unsettling the way Mr. X teleports erratically as he moves through the unloaded parts of the map.
Am I the only one that has seen this video all around TH-cam for the last 11 months and had now just watched it

Awesome, happy it will help!
I always enjoy behind the scene stuff, but didn't realize I needed RE2 behind the scenes. Nice.
Some of this stuff was really cool. You seem very passionate about the technical aspects of video game scene making. Makes your viewers passionate too!
It was fun to see how it works "behind the scenes"
The fact that he teleports behind you as you enter an area somehow makes it less and more creepy at the same time.🤔
That makes Mr X way more terrifying
Agreed
10:26 the shot of mr x appearing with a vine boom had me dying
this is so much fun, it’s like they are playing in a movie or a theatre, waiting for their turn to act in a scene and making it all work for the player. i can almost see how they’re all hanging out backstage and making fun of clueless Ethan
Amazing how the light changes for every shot of something as if it’s a film😍
Thats been the same tech used in any animated movie or video game for decades my dude
neon wops my bad xD

When Birkin took out Mr. X's chest that did nothing except piss off Mr. X more
