khalid taker No fixed camera angles are bad and doesnt belong to modern games. You do not need fixed camera angles to create horror, many indie horror can proove it. If it is an optional choice then have it, if it forced no.
khalid taker It could have BOTH. They could release the game with 2 modes: "Classic" and "Modern". Classic would be the legendary fixed camera angles and Modern would be 3rd person over the shoulder. It's a win-win.
Capcom: "We want you to cancel your fan remake.." Fan team: "Oh what the fu....!" Capcom: "SO THAT YOU CAN HELP US WITH THE RE2 REMAKE WE JUST ANNOUNCED!" Everyone: "HELL YEAH!"
See, at least Capcom is inviting them to help on the project. If some of these companies did this, things would be so much better for gaming, and gamers. I don't get how these companies are willing to let their IPs sit and rot, and when passionate fans want to do something with it, they shut them down...Which brings me to Chrono Trigger Resurrection, if SquareEnix pulled their heads out of their asses, we could have had a phenomenal remake.
ravager48 Oh, I do. Trust me, I _definitely_ do. It's the one thing I'm pissed the fuck off to this day and hold it against SEGA _every single time_ I can.
Matthew Dolby They're taking better and better steps that other companies should actually look at as an example. Definitely the 180 I was hoping to see them do years back
AlphaOmegaSin I guess since they knew that they should be themselves during their golden Era (Late 80s, 90s and early 2000). They just realized the power of the fanbase. Now they realize they are an idiot the whole. I called 08-13 Capcom as "SF and MvC whoring+DmC FUCK YOU" Era.
AlphaOmegaSin Yeah. I seem to remember them saying something along the lines of them losing the voice of their fans and wanting to get it back. This is certainly a good way to start to gain trust back.
From all Street Fighter 5 DLC being unlockable to how they're handling their remakes, Capcom is showing everyone how it's done. It makes me smile that a company can still go from being a curse word to a fan favorite like that in the age of Komani.
Tomoko The Objectively Popular Individual Indeed they are, looking forward to whatever they have announced at next months Tokyo Game Show as well considering all the good news they've been bringing to us
AlphaOmegaSin Agreed. I actually want to support Capcom now with all that they're doing just to show that building up good will like that pays off. And their games are great.
The logical solution is to sell it to Team fucking Silent, the original creators. But if for whatever reason that does not work, give it to Tango Gameworks. Mikami and his crew seem to be the only ones that could do Silent Hill justice other then Team Silent.
It's good that Capcom continues to show that they are listening to fans by even going as far to invite some to work with them. However it is a bit unnerving knowing that the Reborn project was primarily an OTS styled game, and I can say with certainty that this is _not_ what the majority of fans want to see from the Remake. Now, there's nothing wrong with liking OTS style. Plenty of games outside of Resident Evil have proved to be excellently made and enjoyable experiences. That being said, I don't feel OTS belongs anywhere near RE2 whatsoever. The original REmake did it damn near perfect and has hyped all expectations for what an RE2 Remake could be, and the last thing we wanna see is RE2 turned into RE4. It might seem like "just" a camera angle, but it's a whole hell of a lot more than that. There's a few people who want a compromise, why not just have both? It sounds like a reasonable thing to ask for, until you consider that they'd have to literally _program two completely different games_ if they want both styles to function properly. RE5's Lost in Nightmares easter egg is a horrible example because when it came down to actually trying to shoot something, it was damn near unplayable. Slapping a new camera angle over a game that's designed for a different style _doesn't work_. So, unless the developers are willing to put the time, effort, money, and resources into designing two fundamentally different games, one style or the other is gonna get seriously neglected. And I can guaran-fucking-tee you that if it's the classic style that gets skimped out on, the majority of fans are gonna be pissed the fuck off. So that all being said, as nice as having options would be, I'd rather not risk it in screwing up what makes Resident Evil 2, _Resident Evil 2_. I just want it done in the style of REmake, it's what the majority of us truly want.
Agreed. Fixed cameras is a must for this remake. If Capcom ignores that, they will get a lot of hate from the fanbase, including myself. However, I'm confident that they will make the right choice here.
***** I really hope Capcom didn't see the over the shoulder style in that Reborn game and think that's the way most people want RE 2 remade. RE 2 uses fixed camera angles to add mood and tension to the game and the remake should stay true to that, over the shoulder would totally ruin that. It's good that they acknowledged it, but don't make the mistake of thinking that's what most people want.
DestructiveZombie If you mean like the optional camera mode in RE5 Lost in Nightmares, that just won't work. The game was unplayable in that style due to the precise aiming that's programmed. I think options are normally a great thing to have, but in this situation it'd be asking the developers to program two entirely different games. Unless they do that, it'll just be a camera setting getting slapped on top of a fundamentally different programming scheme. Doing that would cause the gameplay to barely function, unfortunately.
666Zombifyed That would be good. The only problem is that means there would be two very different areas of game design, and mechanics. Essentially if they did that, they would be making two separate games due to the different mechanics and balancing. And even if they do have the resources (which they probably technically do) it will increase development time by quite a bit. Because again, they would in a sense be making two games.
Jibbly Gibblet Look at Resident Evil 5 "Lost in Nightmares" DLC. There is an option to go to fixed camera angles for the first part and it worked just fine.
666Zombifyed I did not know that, but that does not prove my point wring. They would have probably made tweaks in balancing for that. And the fact it is in there is not a sign of no balancing adjustments. Plus it's Resident Evil 5, it's not exactly as close to survival horror as the earlier games. Plus the behaviour of the enemies are different. It is possible that the way Resident Evil 5 was designed just so happens to work that way. That is possible for other games. I have come across situations where changes like that can work, but it's not a guarantee. Plus your comment is under the assumption that if RE2 remake is third person it would behave like RE5. And you're ignoring my point about certain mechanics potentially causing problems that would require some balancing tweaks. An example I would give is RE6's sprinting and diving mechanic. In fixed camera angles that can cause some problems for certain camera angles I remember being in some of the original fixed camera angles. This doesn't mean I am saying that that mechanic would cause problems. I am saying it is something they would need to take into account, and that could be end up being something like adjusting the camera angle slightly, making certain cameras follow the player, adding/changing a damage effect from the mechanic if performed with enemies in the vicinity, etc. This is a creative industry and in experience, many many many things can cause problems. Some things can be implemented, many things are scrapped, and this can also be for many many many other reasons. All I am saying is, depending on their creative vision for how the game will be designed, assuming they go for a third person camera like RE6 or a lock strafe camera like RE4 & 5, they may need to change things up to balance implementing fixed camera angles. that could be anything from the position of enemy spawn points, to the amount of maximum health the player has, a button that blocks off an area and open another and depending on how they design that and what follows, etc. Many things can have effects. That said, it may end up working fine without balancing, but they may have to change some things.
Capcom continues to redeem itself with great decisions. First they remake RE1 to critical acclaim, now they're bringing the RE2 Reborn developers aboard the RE2 Remake. I have a feeling it won't be long 'til Dino Crisis is resurrected.
***** you are going to count Dino Crisis 3 as its own game? I rented that game and returned it telling Blockbuster that the game was broken. Remake the first and second one.... no more to the series
cybersunday07 WTF ? if they bring that crap fan developers into main stage, i won't give a fuck to this game. Never! when the hell "fans" deciding on games anyway ?
that shit is awesome.. it has to be an amazing feeling to become part of the team making the game the were so invested in. capcom didn't have to do it either, but they saw their passion and talents, and brought them on board. i never thought capcom would come back, but i was wrong
AlphaOmegaSin I haven't as I was interested in other things. Konami on the other hand... I heard it's like a torture chamber. I don't see a future happening for them.
TheDefectiveTurret Kinda hard to not notice game releases for almost 2 years let alone news that is everywhere on the internet and people talking about it lol
I really hope Capcom doesnt go with a OTS style camera.. the fixed camera and tank controls are what added the tension and scary factor to the classic RE games.
I love the idea of them bringing the other team on board, and since its a remake, Im definitely looking forward to the recreation of the cinematics and the way the game will look graphically, the only things thats on my mind at the moment is the idea of... Will they keep the camera angle as it is? or will they go with the RE2 reborn (behind the shoulder) camera angle.. The reason why I loved the old games (and obviously the remake of RE1) was the creepy camera angle, since you wouldnt know what would happen next or whats the behind the other wall. So personally I hope they'll stick with that, I dont mind them adding some extra features to the game, like nowadays having achievements or so, as long as it doenst interfere with the game/gameplay I am ok with seeing new stuff added to the remake.
This is great to hear, I figured this fan group would have been disheartened by the official announcement of a remake, but this opportunity should definitely keep them excited, and I hope Capcom really sees the value in this kind of collaboration!
i just hope that Capcom keeps up the good deeds. anyone remember after Dead Space 3 flopped, how EA promised no more Online Passes, no more Microtransactions in future games? then they began rushing broken products out the door like SimCity 2013 and Battlefield 4, and everyone hates EA again. THATS what im still somewhat concerned about, is Capcom appeasing consumers for a little while then falling back to their corrupt and shady business practices but still, bravo to Capcom if they intend on keeping up the good decision making
5persondude I think the difference here is that EA suffers little consequence for messing up. People may say they're done with EA but then Mirror's Edge 2 or Battlefront come out and everyone goes "Okay you get one more chance." With Capcom, people have been sticking to their guns meaning they don't get the chance to go back on people.
I think if I had to choose between Capcom or EA then it's Capcom hands down - At least they disappointed fans with complete products :P. If Capcom are truly turning over a new leaf and starting to pay more attention to the fans then I believe they will regain the trust. As for EA, nothing can bring them twats back to what they once were, all they care about is the money and I can only assume Battlefront 3 will go the same way as BF3&4 - broken, unstable and unbalanced.
+Vlad Velasquez fair point. I don't support EA that much. Just Dead Space, the Bad Company games, and Mirror's Edge. Those are the only games I care about. I did like the though of a new Battlefront but it just looks like a Battlefield game with a Star Wars expansion, plus no Clones. It's just a name now.
Did something happen at Capcom that I missed? Did they go through a change in management or something? Seriously, what is happening? They're doing the right things! The last time I checked they were a big f***-up...
Ruko Michiharu Capcom doesn't have a pachinko division or fitness clubs to fall back on. They literally can't afford to piss off their fans anymore. They have to cater to the customers every whim if they want to survive. Unlike Sega, they seem to be actively trying to give fans what they want now.
+Ruko Michiharu In 2013, their bank account was in his cluster fuck (Only 152 million bucks left), this made them into a VERY BIG crisis. And then, in the very blackhole of their mind realized that: "Oh wait, we actually had BIG legacy back in our golden era." The very first thing they pulled out that was right after all this time was TO MAKE THE REmake MULTIPLAT after more than 10 fucking yrs staying on Nintendo console. This decision made Capcom recovered their financial instantly and they decided to bring back old Dante with DMC4SE which turned out to be a success as well.
This is what I like to hear. Capcom may not have been making incredible decisions in the past few years, but this is progress. Progress towards a better game, probably. Progress towards a higher place in the market, hopefully. Progress towards the fans putting their faith back into Capcom, most definitely.
Go to facebook and tell them. They officially invited the fans to do so! Besides: I think a RE2Remake in the new style might be to similiar to RE7, which is pretty likely to be released around the same time. So making it a bit more classic, will satisfy hardcore fans (anyway), draw additional attention to the brand, and leave RE7 enough "space" to be 3rd person COD styled or whatever.
this is a really good thing to hear! i'm so glad that they're pulling in talented, devoted fans to help with the official RE2 remake, and i am happy for all the opportunities this project will open up for them! I'm also happy with Capcom's plan for how DLC will work for SFV, but the one thing that will really get me to admit that Capcom is finally turning itself around is if they localize Ace Attorney Investigations 2 and The Great Ace Attorney. To my understanding, Ace Attorney 5 did really great in Nintendo eshop sales, so why not?
Well, this is a C&D that is completely understandable and justified, and it is so awesome that Capcom offered to bring these guys on board, so they can continue working on and being a part of what they love, with the actual people behind the property no less! I remember when I loathed Capcom a few years ago, then that loathing grew into crushing disappointment and sadness...but, if they keep it up, then at this rate, that will all just be a distant memory in no time. I'm so happy they're finally getting themselves together and regaining, little by little, their former awesomeness. I'll be even more happy when they start getting the Mega Man and DMC franchises back on track, and at this point, I'm pretty confident they will. Keep goin' Capcom..and keep being awesome! Feels good to say that...
Saccharin3D Capcom turned their ship around on a dime. They saw the direction they were headed, saw major storms that way (maybe there were water spouts), and decided "Yeah... let's not go that way...."
Yep its like I said before, Capcom is done fucking up and now it's Sega and Konami's turn. I still think free fan games need some sort of protection. We shouldn''t have to rename every character and place just to slip by. I used to think you could only violate copyright if you charge money, but lately it seems like corporations will attack you anyway.
***** SEGA is said to bring a big announcement with them to TGS next time that happens. SEGA's president in an interview awhile ago practically said that he was disappointed with their recent work and that they plan to turn that all around soon.
REMAKE !!!! I remember playing this game back in the day for a friend of mine. He had muscular dystrophy, so I played and he would tell me what to do.. Good times. This game brings back great memories Alpha Keep up your epic videos
AlphaOmegaSin I love the fact that if Silent Hills hadn't been cancelled, the Silent Hill pachinko machine wouldn't have bothered anyone. It would've just been something "on the side" that came out at the same time. Yet with Silent Hills being cancelled then the announcement of the Silent Hills pachinko machine . . . . it just leaves a bad image and a bad taste in fans' collective mouths.
Seriously?? Dude, that is fantastic! Now we have actual fans (HUGE fans) helping with the remake. This is amazing news. I just hope this doesn't crush my dreams of a REmake-style RE2 remake. Even if the remake turns out to be RE4-styled though... I won't complain. I'm sure it'll be great.
See Konami!? See!? Even Capcom knows when to pull it's head out of it's ass, and does the right thing by asking for help from people who know what the hell they're doing.
MrAnimeopera I think it's more appropriate to use that against SE. Remember CHRONO BREAK? SE put the dickiest move of history of gaming. Cease and Desist w/o touching shit on the Chrono Series. Though yeah, it's more prominent with Konami now since they are the new 08-13 Capcom.
MrAnimeopera You're assuming that Konami gives a damn about video games anymore. They'll come back to their old fans when they're hungry for it. Once they're in dire need of money like Capcom is, they'll come back. The question is, will anyone care by the time that happens.
I rather have it that they give you an option to use a third person camera angles while having the option to use the tank controls and fixed camera angles because people like me who hate the tank controls and fix camera angle
+Asuna Yuuki no we just want the game remade like they remade resident evil, you fucking idiot. don't act like it was you resident evil 4 and up fans that made the series the success it is. it's not nostalgia, it's the style and aesthetic that got our interest in the first place.
this could be the start of a beautiful trend in game developing. imagine if sega hired the freedom planet team to help with a new sonic game, or if nintendo hired the mario 64 remake people to help with an official hd remake for mario 64. i love this.
Gaminglord Hell man I fucking wish they would hire me on just so that some of the ideas bouncing around in my head could happen lol That'd be a dream job
I think the issues with some companies letting fans do remakes is because they still sell them in some form. I think this was all perfect timing, which is good for both sides. I wonder if well see this happen again
AlphaOmegaSin The problem with that is in lost in nightmares it kept the aiming to the new mechanic which was very hard to control, with fixed camera it has to be aim the gun up, down or straight, but if they find a way for it to work with out losing the Fear factor then by all means
Crapcom is becoming the awesome company they used to be and it makes me really happy. A good portion of the games that made me decide to work my ass of in college for four years in order to become a game developer came from their studios . Seeing them die, knowing we'd never get a proper DMC5, that fucking killed me. But with all this awesome stuff they've been doing lately, I think we have a lot to look forward to.
I'm starting believe Capcom is watching your videos. Just yesterday you were talking about companies taking great fan-games and bring their teams onto their projects.
DVG Reviewer Heck man if any company saw my videos and was like hey this fucker makes sense, and oh damn look at all those people cmmenting siliar shit. Then my job is complete lol
Really happy for the Reborn team joining Capcom on this, but this may confirm my biggest fear that they implement the over the shoulder view, the HD remaster of the original is where it's at.
I recall seeing that the Touhou 14.5 had a lot of fan help (Fan covers of songs were used in it), I really hope this becomes a trend, because that would be soooooo cool!
I'm really happy for all the people who really wanted this remake and that it is finally happening. Sadly for me if they have only fixed camera angles and no options for over the shoulder or anything of that nature then I won't be playing it. I've always hated fixed camera angles and I'm glad they are gone, sadly it seems like everyone really wants them so I will just watch it on youtube.
Damn Alpha, you are just full of good news lately and it is great since I know you don't ever attempt to dwell on the negative. I'm cautiously optimistic about Capcom, but this is a really great trend and as gamers we should support a lot of this kind of stuff as much as we can. Finally, maybe big companies realize that it is in their interest to listen to us and that they can't just influence everyone the same way other media entertainment fields do. It is hopefully just part of a really positive trend where big companies are more open to gamer input and keep an equal foot in the gaming world as well as the business aspect.
I'm pinching myself. Feels like a utopia all of a sudden where people want to hear one another's point of views and help even. Amazing... This is TRUE professionalism.
I want fixed camera and 3D control, just like RE 1 Remake. This is the only way to go for me. This team has a different vision about the game, to make it in the style of RE 4 perhaps.
I was actually hoping Capcom would bring those guys into the official fold and had suggested as such when they started asking for opinions. I'm estatic that (at least it feels like) they actually listened to their fans for once and followed through with it.
Over the last couple of years, capcom has been doing a lot of great things. Honestly, I'm really happy for them. I remember when I was a kid, I always thought Capcom was a beast of a company; Dino crisis 1 and 2, megaman, resident evil, etc Great Stuff
This I like, during the actual RE2R demo the guy needed to find the power source for the Police department before a majority of things worked, lights, computers alike which is a great idea and a splendid way to get people to use a flashlight. I don't want drastic change, but at the same time so much can be done much like the original REmake to enchance the whole thing. The wait will be the true horror people.
Neo Axl Some changes will help, especially little details like that being added in to flesh things out and force players to do new things in familiar settings
AlphaOmegaSin Very true, I only hope they take the positive reactions to the Reborn demo to heart, I'm sort of expecting a power outage as soon as I enter the RPD now,, know what I mean? It's going to be dope, the high sales of REmake and the buzz around survival horror almost guarantees a sharp shift to form.
This whole Fixed camera and over the shoulder angles are killing me, I personally prefer over the shoulder, I think CAPCOM should provide an option for us to switch to the preferred camera angle, like that no fans would be disappointed.
oh wow you actually responded!!!! you're absolutely right and I'm glad cause capcom has always been my favorite 3rd party as well as arcade developer. Btw love your post and a long time subscriber and fan. GAME THE FUCK ON!!!!!!✊✊✊💯💯
Good job, Capcom! I understand that companies want to protect their copyrights, but when fans are taking on these projects, it's a labor of love. They pour so much of their own time into a project that isn't making them any money. If that isn't passion, I don't know what is. These are the types of people we need making games.
Even though I prefer over the shoulder view, I still hope Capcom adds a fixed camera option. To please both fans old and new. I'm an oldie but I still like over the shoulder more. I will definitely be doing multiple playthroughs so I can enjoy both views.
Sent you a link on facebook yesterday to the video i did on it but pretty sure your inbox is spammed daily lol. This is bittersweet for me. I wanted to play it, but it's badass that they are letting these guys help them! Capcom had made a 180 in my book!
AlphaOmegaSin You know this news has made me so happy so much it actually is heart warming considering the fact not a lot of game developers or entertainment companies out there are doing this is truly one of the kind and I am also glad that Capcom went out and decided to go about and do such a thing to invite the folks who worked on Resident Evil 2 Reborn in order to make their next remastered Resident Evil Game as best as it can be I really hope that they will use The Over Shoulder View when you aiming or fighting zombies or various sorts of biological creatures and I really hope that they will run on Panta Rhei or Unreal Engine 4 that would be so sweet. Finally Capcom is doing what's best for business I mean a lot of companies should do the same and they should go about and let the fans help them with their projects I really hope and crossing my fingers crossing my nuts crossing my ears and hairdo for The team of Capcom and the Team of Invader Games to Tag Team up and make Resident Evil 2 Remastered The Best Remastered Version of any Game Ever
I see a lot of people against a compromise between the fixed camera and the OTS one, they say that it can't be done, but I beg to differ based off of the FPS and Fixed camera used in Code Veronica. Not only do I find this entirely possible (modders could probably rig this) but I would doubt that it would require a new game like many are claiming it would. Hypothetically speaking, imagine playing the game Over the Shoulder of your character, following behind them and being adjusted to get a better angle of flanks, kind of like in RE4. Now, when the weapon is drawn, the camera would zoom in a bit closer to the character's shoulder and a laser pointer would autolock on the nearest enemy (the laser is for the sake of convenience over where you are shooting while at the same time utilizing the same lock on feature as the static camera angle.) Now, what would differ from the other over the shoulder games is that when they player needs to aim up or down they would adjust the stick accordingly and the playable character would change their up to the upwards or downwards orientation, meaning that their aim (or their vertical axis) is locked at either up, down, or center while the player can adjust their horizontal axis 360 degrees. As you can see here, the controls would function the same as with the fixed camera angles except this time only focusing on what is in front of the player. (I kind of like the idea of a trade off between having an unhindered view right in front of you vs. having a limited view but immediate awareness directly around your character.) I could easily see the same game (items, enemies, game map) being used here (since its probably going to be made in 3d and not pre rendered) but with a different camera angle to choose. Most of the resistance to having a choice comes off as either the notion that resources would be split between basically making two games or simply fear of change.
Exactly!!! Modders are finally respected!! This is the future of gaming! Remember what happened with the Portal port for Android. Some indie devs started to port Portal Unity 3D (article on The Verge), and Valve quickly shut down their project.
Never in a million years would I have thought I'd be able to say this to current day Capcom, but...good for you! Just keep on this path and you'll be able to reclaim your place as the legendary company you once were.
I think they should give players the option to play the game in classic fixed camera mode and in over the shoulder camera mode in options so that you can see the game in two different perspectives which I believe would give the game some replay value, and I think they need to add some more alternative costumes for both Leon and Claire which will give the game even more replay value, and on top of all of that just for the fun of it add a mercenaries mode.
now they see that Survival Horror is still very much alive I hope that capcom can keep doing what they had been successful about in the past with titles like Resident evil..with this coming out and if it gets an amazing fan base as Im sure we all know it will..it may drive them to create a remake of RE3..which i would love to see..just imagine..NEMESIS chasing your ass down on the current gen consoles
Good going Capcom :-) And yes, fans can be loudmouthed empty barrels at times, but some of us actually do have good ideas to share. Like when me and my friend talk ideas for Kingdom Hearts III, she keeps telling me "why don't they ask fans for ideas more often? we obviously have a lot of good ones".
I'm glad that capcom is asking them to help out with their game and these guys are getting in the door and no one will give the chance that capcom as done for them and the games you said need to be done.
Glad someone else wants Onimusha back. Along with all you suggested I hope we also get a sequel to Asura's Wrath, a localization of Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi and a Capcom vs. fighting game (Marvel (even if it is unlikely), SNK, Tatsunoko, or maybe something new like Arc System Works)
Good talent teaming up with talented passion is going to lead to an AMAZING game!
DreamcastGuy Worked out for them, for Capcom, and for fans. if anything that is absolute victory
@@AlphaOmegaSin SEGA did the same with Sonic Mania

Nunya Bidness And the Cubs win the world series? Or do we have to wait for Konami to pull their heads out of their asses.

Shit!!!
Nunya Bidness capcom's been pretty good for about 2 years now actually.
*cough*McadvidHartTrophy2016*cough*

Capcom has stepped their shit up, and Konami is just plummeting down.
Brandon Ngo They have and it makes me damn proud to see the turn around
AlphaOmegaSin I do wonder if sony had a influence on there change of heart
+AlphaOmegaSin now lets see what Sega meant when they mentioned something at TGS.
Kouga The Wolf Pokemon We'll see, still got a month to wait but I hope they make it worth it
The dawn of a new era is upon us.
This game needs to have the fixed camera angles guys hit Capcom on Twitter let them know that we want the fixed camera angles
khalid taker Why not both?
khalid taker No fixed camera angles are bad and doesnt belong to modern games. You do not need fixed camera angles to create horror, many indie horror can proove it. If it is an optional choice then have it, if it forced no.
Zack Stout Theres the Resi 5 Dlc that shows you can have both so yusss.
khalid taker It could have BOTH. They could release the game with 2 modes: "Classic" and "Modern". Classic would be the legendary fixed camera angles and Modern would be 3rd person over the shoulder. It's a win-win.
Jesse Salo It's not modern game, it's a game from 1998. I'll take fixed camera angles any day over the pitch black environments.
I'm really proud of capcom honestly. they've been getting their shit together
Capcom: "We want you to cancel your fan remake.."
Fan team: "Oh what the fu....!"
Capcom: "SO THAT YOU CAN HELP US WITH THE RE2 REMAKE WE JUST ANNOUNCED!"
Everyone: "HELL YEAH!"

Or Streets of Rage Remake.
Gunner193 This! 1000 times this! You have no idea how much that pissed me off.
Capcom is waking up that they are a gaming company with many great games and a fan base who wants to play their games.
ravager48 Oh, I do. Trust me, I _definitely_ do. It's the one thing I'm pissed the fuck off to this day and hold it against SEGA _every single time_ I can.
ravager48 I guess one could say you had a...
(puts on sunglasses)
...fit of rage.
Yeeeeaaaaaahhhhh!!!! (Epic guitar riff)
Holy shit. Wow. Way to go Capcom. See? This is how you approach and talk to the community.
Matthew Dolby They're taking better and better steps that other companies should actually look at as an example. Definitely the 180 I was hoping to see them do years back
Yeah thanks cap on my room will covered with re2 remake posters all over in shit I hope they give us a full map as a poster in the release game box
This is certainly a good way to start to gain trust back.
bigevilworldwide1 Why not both?
And i it was so bad, the whole genre would have tanked right there with RE1
From all Street Fighter 5 DLC being unlockable to how they're handling their remakes, Capcom is showing everyone how it's done. It makes me smile that a company can still go from being a curse word to a fan favorite like that in the age of Komani.
Tomoko The Objectively Popular Individual Indeed they are, looking forward to whatever they have announced at next months Tokyo Game Show as well considering all the good news they've been bringing to us
AlphaOmegaSin Agreed. I actually want to support Capcom now with all that they're doing just to show that building up good will like that pays off. And their games are great.
I wish Konami would sell off the Silent hill series to Capcom.
Them or square enix
+Iqbalx1 nah square will make it an RPG
BloodCroft maybe sell it to Kojima rather....
Iqbalx1 no Square Enix! for the love of god no!!!!!
The logical solution is to sell it to Team fucking Silent, the original creators. But if for whatever reason that does not work, give it to Tango Gameworks. Mikami and his crew seem to be the only ones that could do Silent Hill justice other then Team Silent.
Konami needs to start taking notes from Capcom.
The future of gaming is with smart phones and tablets
ricky bueno
I hope not.
+Masked Guy same
It's good that Capcom continues to show that they are listening to fans by even going as far to invite some to work with them.
+Bruno Carrillo I just wish they could given us the option of OTS or fixed but that would cost way too much for them to do.
They could set a setting type where they have fixed cameras and Original cameras :3 just a thought
I'd like to see an option to choose between fixed camera and over-the-shoulder to please everyone.
Thank you so much!
IG Team
Capcom continues to redeem itself with great decisions. First they remake RE1 to critical acclaim, now they're bringing the RE2 Reborn developers aboard the RE2 Remake. I have a feeling it won't be long 'til Dino Crisis is resurrected.
First one only. That game scares the shit out of me still
+Andrew Favazza second one was great as well, it was its own game and not a RE copy
Never! when the hell "fans" deciding on games anyway ?
ultimatesol I... uh, literally have no idea what you just said.
that shit is awesome.. it has to be an amazing feeling to become part of the team making the game the were so invested in. capcom didn't have to do it either, but they saw their passion and talents, and brought them on board. i never thought capcom would come back, but i was wrong
This is awesome. I would love to see either a remake or hd remastered of Dino Crisis.
That the music kicked in when you actually got down to brass tacs (30 secs) was quite simply inspirational.
I guess Capcom's slowly getting their head outta the gutter, huh?
TheDefectiveTurret Been doing it for a long time now if you've been paying attention to their game release and choices for over a year
AlphaOmegaSin I haven't as I was interested in other things. Konami on the other hand... I heard it's like a torture chamber. I don't see a future happening for them.
TheDefectiveTurret Kinda hard to not notice game releases for almost 2 years let alone news that is everywhere on the internet and people talking about it lol
AlphaOmegaSin Look, I don't have the pleasures everyone else has. I have a life too, kay?
TheDefectiveTurret Rude.
That piece of news right there, just blew my mind!
I really hope Capcom doesnt go with a OTS style camera.. the fixed camera and tank controls are what added the tension and scary factor to the classic RE games.
bigevilworldwide1
thats cool.. you can go play RE 4,5,6 and 7 when it releases :)
Who fucking died and stepped in as CEO for Capcom? They really got their shit together and I am liking what I'm seeing.
Jon Doe Helps seeing that your name becomes tarnished by shitty choices, they realized that and got their act together.
THATS what im still somewhat concerned about, is Capcom appeasing consumers for a little while then falling back to their corrupt and shady business practices
but still, bravo to Capcom if they intend on keeping up the good decision making
Vlad Velasquez EA is pretty much the Disney of Gaming with all the Licenses they have
+Vlad Velasquez fair point. I don't support EA that much. Just Dead Space, the Bad Company games, and Mirror's Edge. Those are the only games I care about.
I did like the though of a new Battlefront but it just looks like a Battlefield game with a Star Wars expansion, plus no Clones. It's just a name now.
wh3nderson95 funny thing is back in the day I always felt Battlefront 2 felt like Battlefield 2
The music in the background of this video is fkn amazing..
Did something happen at Capcom that I missed? Did they go through a change in management or something? Seriously, what is happening? They're doing the right things! The last time I checked they were a big f***-up...
***** I guess they didn't want to be like them...
Ruko Michiharu Capcom doesn't have a pachinko division or fitness clubs to fall back on. They literally can't afford to piss off their fans anymore. They have to cater to the customers every whim if they want to survive. Unlike Sega, they seem to be actively trying to give fans what they want now.
castlevania78 That's good! Let's just hope they keep at it and that Sega does the same now =w=
I'd like to see the game made in the old style. Pretty much just like REmake did.
foolio1990 I'd be quite okay with that
foolio1990 Me too. I hope they dont make it like the new games.
I third this opinion.
To my understanding, Ace Attorney 5 did really great in Nintendo eshop sales, so why not?
can't fuckin wait. wanted this ever since RE remake, this is fuckin A.
***** my thoughts exactly.
***** thank you, i would understand the guys comment if i jeered the vid or something. he has a very large chip on his shoulder.
James Grange So many big time games coming out this gen, my wallet is not ready
AlphaOmegaSin im broke, so im sellin a kidney
its not my kidney, but...
Feels good to say that...
if only SEGA did this with the streets of rage remake
you know you're fucking up when Capcom is doing things better than you are.
Saccharin3D Capcom turned their ship around on a dime. They saw the direction they were headed, saw major storms that way (maybe there were water spouts), and decided "Yeah... let's not go that way...."
Saccharin3D Maybe SEGA will turn around this fall... we'll wait and see.
Saccharin3D Thank you.
Sega is dead
SEGA tries to please their fans. unfortunately, "you can't please everyone" was never heard by them until recently
It's nice to see that things are improving over at Capcpom, I was more than worried.
CoolAsDan Sonic Lost World 2 with good level and boss design??? that would be my dream at least :)
AND YAKUZA! ALL OF THEM LOCALIZED PLZ!
+CoolAsDan They need to bring Tom Kalinske back
CoolAsDan Valkyria Chronicles 4 on console and a Shining Force that's in the style (both art and gameplay) of Camelot's games is what i want.
***** Sega doesn't REALLY have to, just have them hand over their JRPG franchises to Atlus (whom they own.) and they are basically golden.
REMAKE !!!!
I remember playing this game back in the day for a friend of mine. He had muscular dystrophy, so I played and he would tell me what to do.. Good times.
This game brings back great memories
Alpha Keep up your epic videos
Capcom is turning shit around big time. Sega and Konami take notes..
K1NG M1DWAY Sega announced to bring PSO2 to PS4 in the west!!!
K1NG M1DWAY Konami's new CEO is like take notes? You mean Pachinko machines right?
This gives me even more hope that Capcom wants to get this right adding the fan perspective. Well played Capcom. \,,/
Yo alpha or anybody that want's to help me here: I wanna get into the series. Which game should i start with?
Preferably Resident Evil 4 or the first Resident Evil game HD Remake. (It's the same as the original just remade.)
xXJ0SH7417Xx What the hell man!? All i asked was a question! No need to get butthurt. My god you're the reason why this generation is dying!
***** Dead Aim
***** RE HD Remake
TheGamerFromTheGrave Thanks
This is probably the best piece of Gaming news I've heard this entire year! It makes me SOOOOO fucking happy!
this is a bad idea, the Reborn team is remaking RE2 like RE4, no fan of RE2 wants that, we want fixed camera angles and tank controls
I rather have it that they give you an option to use a third person camera angles while having the option to use the tank controls and fixed camera angles because people like me who hate the tank controls and fix camera angle
DjClayface RE4 gameplay looks great though
+Asuna Yuuki no we just want the game remade like they remade resident evil, you fucking idiot. don't act like it was you resident evil 4 and up fans that made the series the success it is. it's not nostalgia, it's the style and aesthetic that got our interest in the first place.
Asuna Yuuki
fail.
Asuna Yuuki
Oh, hit a nerve did i? you're reaching... and still fail. :)
this could be the start of a beautiful trend in game developing. imagine if sega hired the freedom planet team to help with a new sonic game, or if nintendo hired the mario 64 remake people to help with an official hd remake for mario 64. i love this.
That is pretty damn awesome...Why didn't u join them alpha u could have made RE2...UR TRUE NIGHTMARE
Gaminglord Hell man I fucking wish they would hire me on just so that some of the ideas bouncing around in my head could happen lol That'd be a dream job
AlphaOmegaSin endless zombie mode, barry mode...BOULDER MODE
I think the issues with some companies letting fans do remakes is because they still sell them in some form. I think this was all perfect timing, which is good for both sides. I wonder if well see this happen again
It must have fixed camera angles.
it's not resident evil without the fear of something being outside the frame you see
My hope is it might have both: fixed and third person. :D
I can dream at least!
BLACK LANTERN OF EARTH Make it like Lost in Nightmares where they had the option of both over the shoulder and fixed which would be pretty cool
AlphaOmegaSin The problem with that is in lost in nightmares it kept the aiming to the new mechanic which was very hard to control, with fixed camera it has to be aim the gun up, down or straight, but if they find a way for it to work with out losing the Fear factor then by all means
Gotta agree. But still if they do add that is going to be everyone's first
Im happy for the Resident Evil 2 Reborn Team they did an amazing job, I hope this is the beginning of a relationship between fans and game studios
Fixed camera angles PLEASE!
Oh dats so good... I really wanted this to happen but I honestly didn't think it would. Capcom is regaining my respect.
This gave me Goosebumps outta how incredible this is! 😃😊
luvin the music alpha
I'm really happy for all the people who really wanted this remake and that it is finally happening.
Sadly for me if they have only fixed camera angles and no options for over the shoulder or anything of that nature then I won't be playing it. I've always hated fixed camera angles and I'm glad they are gone, sadly it seems like everyone really wants them so I will just watch it on youtube.
I remember thinking something along the lines of "capcom should totally hire these guys".....but damn well played capcom.
juho aalto Well played indeed, now if other companies would do something similar they might truly go further with their fans
One of the best possible outcomes. Amazing
It was stunning to hear this news.
I've been very proud of Capcom as of late and I'm looking forward to seeing how this remake will turn out.
I'm pinching myself. Feels like a utopia all of a sudden where people want to hear one another's point of views and help even. Amazing... This is TRUE professionalism.
thats wonderful news. i hope to see more from them
And that remake was GOOD
Awesome news good luck to the RE2 reborn crew.
Resident Evil 2 Remake with RE6 Leon Campaign gameplay mechanics enough said.
Good video Alpha.
OMG they might return to survival horror for the next RE installment, and Onimusha series may get a remake, how glorious that would be.
*Those 3 herbs mixed together, probably makes some GOOD smoke.*
*o____O*
This whole Fixed camera and over the shoulder angles are killing me, I personally prefer over the shoulder, I think CAPCOM should provide an option for us to switch to the preferred camera angle, like that no fans would be disappointed.
this is good to hear. much better move to work with these guys than just slapping c&d. Capcom made some of my favourite all time games
oh wow you actually responded!!!! you're absolutely right and I'm glad cause capcom has always been my favorite 3rd party as well as arcade developer.
Dude when this comes out you should do a play through!
Holy crap, Capcom's being pretty cool.
***** Not many companies do shit like this, others need to take notes
As an old school Resident evil fan this is great news :D
I see a lot of people against a compromise between the fixed camera and the OTS one, they say that it can't be done, but I beg to differ based off of the FPS and Fixed camera used in Code Veronica. Not only do I find this entirely possible (modders could probably rig this) but I would doubt that it would require a new game like many are claiming it would.
Hypothetically speaking, imagine playing the game Over the Shoulder of your character, following behind them and being adjusted to get a better angle of flanks, kind of like in RE4. Now, when the weapon is drawn, the camera would zoom in a bit closer to the character's shoulder and a laser pointer would autolock on the nearest enemy (the laser is for the sake of convenience over where you are shooting while at the same time utilizing the same lock on feature as the static camera angle.)
Now, what would differ from the other over the shoulder games is that when they player needs to aim up or down they would adjust the stick accordingly and the playable character would change their up to the upwards or downwards orientation, meaning that their aim (or their vertical axis) is locked at either up, down, or center while the player can adjust their horizontal axis 360 degrees.
A gritty hyper detailed reboot of Onimusha would be so hype!!
I am freaking excited!
RE2 was my first and is my favorite!
I think they should give players the option to play the game in classic fixed camera mode and in over the shoulder camera mode in options so that you can see the game in two different perspectives which I believe would give the game some replay value, and I think they need to add some more alternative costumes for both Leon and Claire which will give the game even more replay value, and on top of all of that just for the fun of it add a mercenaries mode.
now they see that Survival Horror is still very much alive I hope that capcom can keep doing what they had been successful about in the past with titles like Resident evil..with this coming out and if it gets an amazing fan base as Im sure we all know it will..it may drive them to create a remake of RE3..which i would love to see..just imagine..NEMESIS chasing your ass down on the current gen consoles
wow Capcom is really hitting all the right notes. Congrats guys!
Good going Capcom :-)
And yes, fans can be loudmouthed empty barrels at times, but some of us actually do have good ideas to share. Like when me and my friend talk ideas for Kingdom Hearts III, she keeps telling me "why don't they ask fans for ideas more often? we obviously have a lot of good ones".
Can't wait to play this.
I'm glad that capcom is asking them to help out with their game and these guys are getting in the door and no one will give the chance that capcom as done for them and the games you said need to be done.
The best way to describe how I'm feeling is, when Henry finds out over the radio that they pulled off the biggest heist the Lufthansa heist.
I still want an Outbreak File #3. I loved the first 2 on the PS2. was so great playing an online Resident Evil game.
Wow so Capcom really approve this. My wish came true for the first time.
awesome capcom getting there head together finally bringing fans and conpanies together for a great remake .
Hey Capcom, keep up the good work! You're making good decisions again. Now if we could get a great new Megaman game, you'd be back to glory.
