- In this video, I've got the brand new Audi TT RS for a week and surprisingly a friend of mine has got his BMW M2 Competition the same week as me too!

We decided to make a last minute , a video to show how TT RS up against the M2 and create a "Real World Review" for the consumer buyer.

TTRS for me. Insanely quick car, great remap potential, stage 2 gets well over 500bhp, 0-60 2.8s. Can get 40mpg on motorways if sensible. It’s got to be the best all round package!

The ttrs is a nose heavy understeering pig in comparison to the properly balanced and well rpunded M2 Comp. The TTRS will also tank in n value in comparison over the years vs the M2 as well.

M2c stage 1 is is 500bhp. Handles better and has 4 proper seats and a real 6 pot engine twin turbo. The other is a hairdressers car for women to go supermarket in
TTRS for me, sorry guys. When you did your little slide in the m2 comp and said can the TTRS do that, I immediately thought you should have launched the TTRS and said can the m2 comp do that.😜 I own and run a channel devoted to modifying an 8v Rs3 and Ive driven an m2 (non comp) and didn't like it at all. But the m2 comp seems great, but the TTRS comes with the same brakes as a Huracan and the interior makes the m2's seem like a kia. I'm so glad these two cars exist though.
Thank you for acknowledging the M2 as a better drivers car right off the bat, love the fact that you guys didn’t hype it up and I think the Audi has tons of merit for real world driving 👍🏾

Disappointing to see Mark the supposed car journalist come across so defensive of the M2 and wouldn’t give an inch too the TTRS. We get it, the M2 is the better car on the edge but Mark comes across so desperate to not have a bad word said about the M2 or quick to knock the TT down, that wasn’t the aim of the video right? That’s an ugly stain left on a video that had great potential

Having driven both, without a doubt, the TTRS would be my choice. The synthetic engine noise in the M2 cabin is simply dreadful - I couldn't live with it. One other thing, in this country (where it rains loads), the TTRS makes more sense. For most people, although they like the idea of a RWD car, in reality, unless you're tracking it, having a car that slides sideways could be argued as pointless.
I considered both and bought the TTRS. Since I'm not planning on tracking it, I like the more planted feeling for public roads. And yes, it has so much power that it's difficult to use in the real world, because after just a few seconds, your charging along at 90+ mph feeling like your doing 50! Reasons I picked the TTRS over the M2; better and sportier looking (to me), much nicer and cooler interior, hatchback practicality (I leave the back seats down and it has loads of room!), it sounds so special, inside and out, fast as hell. My biggest gripe is the lack of a manual transmission.
despite the power and awd advantage the ttrs obviously has over the m2, i disagree with anything else you‘ve said. the m2 is MUCH more practical, looks 100times better inside and outside, materials and buildquality is so much better in the bmw (and that’s not subjective). The sound… well many people like the sound of 5c. to me it sounds immature, even tryhard if you want.
I guess it eventually comes down to personal preferences but i just cannot comprehend that you really think the ttrs is the better looking car 😅
@@MbeezySheesh And I can't comprehend how you would think that an upright 2 door coupe could look better than this sleek fastback. Also, I completely disagree on the interior. The BMW is SO boring looking inside with the exception of the seats, which are nice. I guess that's what makes the world go 'round. Nice that we have options for different tastes.
@@MbeezySheesh oh, I forgot to mention, no, the interior of the BMW is not even close to the build quality of the Audi. On the Audi, the entire door card, save the speaker grill, is soft touch. On the Audi, most of the dash, save the glove box door, is soft touch. The Center console is comprised of carbon fiber inserts and stitched leather along the sides. The seats are incredible with soft Napa leather, Diamond stitching with adjustable side bolsters and extendable thigh support. The dash is unique to the TT line and looks incredible, especially compared to the BMW, which looks like every other BMW design for the last 10 years.
For me, I'd take the TTRS (and even more so...the rare manual TTRS plus).
I understand the feeling and facination with sliding sideways, but for everyday driving its not appropriate. Unless you drive everyday on a drift track
Bottomline TTRS is faster , better interior , better sounding , better tuning potential and compete with far quicker cars off the line.. hatchback as well (which is not just more practical but better sound inside the cabine as well)
M2 cp is a proper driver's machine tho more fun with better response and a lot of oversteer
M2 for me but i do love the sound of that 5 cylinder, or the older one with out the filter anyway.

Quattro grip all day. Its amazing for weaving thru traffic and wet/snow conditions. If I drove a RWD the way I drive my quattro I'd probly end up in a ditch.

Yup, the power is 100% usable all year round. Quattro is unbeatable.
Here's a tip to getting the instant down-shifts out of an Audi dual-clutch: lift off the throttle. It will instantly blip down 100% of the time if you lift before hitting the paddle. It's kind of weird to have to do that with a DCT, but there it is.
The M2 looks just great from the front and side but man the back looks so cheap I hate the rear of it.
Nice film. Know what you mean about slightly lazy gear changes on the RS. But if you put it in individual mode you can change the shifts to dynamic. This makes paddle shifts almost instantaneous
Good vid guys. There are some audio challenges but for the price I can’t complain. I’m not a vlogger but enjoy watching. One thing a lot of you guys do is, IMO, too much face time and not enough car time. This video in particular, I’d say 75% was looking at you guys. I get it, your vlogging, but I want to see the vehicles. POV style shots, mount the camera on the back window,etc. overall really enjoyed this video. I own a 2019 TT RS but love all cars. I don’t think these cars are the best to compare. Maybe M4 vs TT RS. I test drive all of those plus Cayman and AMG. TT RS is more refined, as is AMG. Personally, Audi felt luxurious and sporty while the others just felt sporty. Being able to afford any, the Audi was the right balance for me and how I will use the car.

I'm trying to decide between an M2 Comp and a used 911, any thoughts on which I should buy? I daily an 2016 Jaguar F type S (an amazing vehicle) which i'll need to sell beforehand but my wife will keep her 2012 Porsche Cayman which is amazing.. best car I've ever driven. Any thoughts appreciated! Btw both of our cars were both used for less than 70k total, which is still a lot but remember I'm old lol.

I agree with Sid, no matter how fast a car is the engine sound must be sonorous, all these new cars sound like an asthmatic donkey with droning exhaust that crackles. Now all new cars sound the same no more individual unique sounds like how the Subaru and Porsche sounded very different, remember that distinctive creamy BMW straight six sound of the 90s. Ok I look back in nostalgia, efficiency has move things on as car are more green that the gas guzzlers of the 1990s.
I’d rather still have these cars, albeit slightly muted. You can then mod them back to their full potential.
Before I watch this video, they better not say both cars are great. ONE of these cars is better than the other. Just say it and don't BS. But I get it, you gotta respect the press relationships. Clicking play now.

The reason I'm comparing these cars is because I love BMWs, but I can't get over the amazing sound of the inline-5 the TT makes. I'm trying to justify it, but BMW seems to get the formula right every time.

Would love to see these m2 drivers in the winter with ice on the road. They become IMMOVABLE. They simply will not drive in icy weather. All that money and a wanky old skoda will out perform one.

Great video buddy, shame about the audio. Get a lapel mic and use with you're phone when your in the car. I only use my phone to record all my videos. 😊✌️
Review summary: if you want the more practical car but the M2, if you want the more fun car buy the M2, if you want the best track car buy the M2, if you want the fastest car point A to B on B road buy the TT, if you want the best sounding most dramatic and more special car buy the TT.
Own a M4... driven the M2 and I agree Sid not the biggest fan of the sound of the car it is fun tho

tt rs is very cool car, but it has incomparably less amount of space at the rear seats and in trunk :) i drive my m2comp with family inside and we even did 1000-1200 km for one day few times (also with the box on the roof) =)
i didn't try tt rs but with rwd only you drive slower to enjoy the car and don't kill somebody or yourself =) and you can slide or drift of course!

If you need a car which doesn’t think too much when you press the accelerator and just goes.. go with the 2..
But if you need a real monster in all conditions which before attacking makes up its strategy and launches everything forward at maximum power, finally overpassing every M car ever made, go with the TTRS
The turbo lag is honestly irrelevant in both.
In a nutshell M2 if your granny shifting and not double clutching like you should….otherwise the TTRS
Thorough comparison. However, the moment the standard for performance cars was set at ‘drifting sideways’ all Audis lose the battle. Most TH-camrs arrive at this conclusion. And that’s bullshit. We are not all track drifting boy racers. We are road drivers, mostly to-and-from work, sometimes windy roads on the weekends. We want to be shoved back in our seats, with grippy sticky, precision. Audis were designed for road driving, and they excel as such. And another thing: There isn’t a V6 made that sounds special (except the Golf R32), unless you fancy the sound of a dentist’s drill. Sorry, just the truth. That offset firing order of 12453 is the business. So have fun letting your M2’s rear end out while I leave you in the dust on the highway.
And I didn’t even mention the exterior and interior styling.

Más o menos, dicen que aunque el BMW sea la mejor opción para conductores seriosos (los que les gusta hacer días al hipódromo), el Audi parece la major opción diariamente. La suspensión del Audi viene un poquito firme, especialmente en carreras lleno de baches (que sí son las de Inglaterra). Al contrario, el BMW es más directado a ellos conductores que valen la abilidad de tener más control del vehículo; es fácil lograr overstreer y drift, pero también fácil a controlar los dos, con el M2 ser más responsivo que el M4 debido a cómo le da el poder. El punto máximo del par de fuerzas es más alto en el M2 que no llegue todo el par de fuerzas al instante. Opinan que el BMW se enfoca al conductor, un gran esfuerzo se ha puesto en perfeccionar los aspectos que les dan cuenta conductores seriosos. El M2 pesa mucho pero el handling es muy bien. El interior del Audi es de más alta calidad, pero no es decir que el del M2 es malo.
Believe it or not the bmw b58 engine sounds better then both these cars, but yeah if it was my choice the m2 is the better car over all ,it’s more of a drivers car with the better stronger engine, the Audi is just basically the 0-60 take off ,which is amazing but that’s about it, in the real world facing each other on the highway the BM would beat it quite easily and at the end of the day that’s what counts.

TTTS is such a one dimensional blunt tool. Nose heavy like most VAG cars. The engine isn’t in the same ball park as the M2s, it only sounds better as single turbo and 5 cylinder, twin turbos respond better, but spoil the sound a bit on the M2. The M2 does sound great though at 7600 rpm, also got to remember it’s defined in this application, it’s naturally 420 to 450 hp in the bugger m cars, can make 550 hp with just a tune.
Not a blunt tool at all. Sure, it’s front weight bias like most FWD cars (on which it is based). Doesn’t mean that it can’t handle. In fact, it handles better than most cars. On the street, you’ll never have a complaint unless you’re driving way too fast.
You really need to invest in some mic's, man.
