  • The Audi TTRS! The most powerful Spec in the entire TT range, with a 2.5-litre engine that makes 400hp and 480Nm of torque! But is this nimble coupe a worthy replacement from the BMW M2 or is the M240i on par with it? Is it TTRS or M240i for you?

I have a TTRS and it’s a blast to drive. I also have a first gen R8 and a 2021 Supra. The TT is the most capable car I own. I live in Pennsylvania and we get snow pretty bad. The Supra is terrible but the TT with winter tires is a champ. I have an unitronic stage 2 ECU/TCU on the TT and it’s a MONSTER. Understeer is sooo underrated. To the people who say they’d chose the RS3 over the TTRS, it only means you want a sedan and not a sports car.

One word: Aesthetic design. Okay 2 words. My TTS turns more heads than Scarlett Johansson. BMW has sadly lost its way in design. But the TT is future proof - inside and out. Every time I park it I have to stop and look back.

Nothing wrong with the sloppy DSG box, it’s all down to your mapped bmw boxes and superior shifting your used to 😛. Always like the TTRS, wouldn’t have one tho, especially at £60k. Think it’s more the image I couldn’t live with. Sounds immense, great engine and superior interior!! If it had to be an Audi, I’d go RS3, otherwise it’d be an M2 comp that trumps it for me. Great vid 👍🏻

😆 Who said my ZF8 is mapped? 😝 I’d have an RS3 if it was available in 2 door tbh, not sure why they’ll do it..M2 Comp is probably a better comparison for it deffo, wet weather you’ll not see which way the Audi went but it the dry, I’m keen to see how well the Audi turns in when say pushed on track…

Only person I'd ever consider a ttrs is for that 5 cylinder, quattro and if I wanted big power that I could put down without any problems, but the 240i handles much better even without LSD.With lsd and stage 1/2 you've basically got a car that drives like a full blown m car,but is also faster. It's a f'in shame the mlites don't have the same individual configuration as the m cars, but even still not a lot beats the 240 at its price point

The DQ-500 isn’t the greatest DSG when downshifting, all of them I’ve owned have had a slight hesitation when stock. The DQ-250 is quicker and will let you do flat throttle down shifts. In this day and age the majority of people who talk about Audi and massive understeer have likely never driven one in the last 5 years if at all. Even then If the fancy takes you fitting a stiffer rear ARB would help things further.

Eeeeeh, this is a strained comparison. The TTRS costs $75,000 to $80,000 new and even the M2C only topped out around $65,000. The new M240i almost matches both in a straight line and definitely has better handling characteristics than the front-biased TTRS. Maxed out it's still under $60,000; absolute bargain among the three.
P.S. Use TTRSes in the US cost as much as or more than new right now.

@@TimWilliamsHD Yeah. Audi is killing off the model due to slow sales, but the reason they've been struggling to break low triple digit sales in one of their key markets is that they priced it too close to both a 718 GTS and an RS5 and way too high to compete with the dynamically superior BMW options. I would love to have one, but not at almost $80k with all the options that make it worth having.

Chris Harris pushed it hard in a head to head against the 718 (S, I think) and M2C and, yes, it does understeer when pushed hard. It's damn quick, second fastest of the lot after the Porsche, but it is apparently a handful to keep it charging through because it fights you on the limit.

@@germanengineering204 To be fair, though, you have to be driving at 9/10 to feel it and, even then, you can tune it out with some suspension and tire upgrades. It's not a design flaw, it's an intentional behavior put in place by Audi because it makes your average driver feel safe.
That said, it will never be a fun-handling car; it's all about technical performance and efficiency. It will go fast around a track, but with zero flare.
