With pain, you're focusing on the pain and you end up not ticking, it's the same as when watching a movie, you just end up not having tics when your focused on something
For my tattoos, I just told my artist beforehand "I have tourettes, I will let you know if I need you to pause." It wound up being okay because during the tattooing, my focus was on the tattoo and the pain, so I wasn't ticking too much, and when I did I was able to let them out when he had to get more ink or change colors. It worked out pretty well.
One of my tics I have been having is saying "uwu" Over and over again and my friend said "Just stop please" I'm like *"wOw i nEvEr tHoUgHt oF tHaT bEfOrE"*

I hate attention drawn towards me as I’m a quiet person but when I got tourettes at 18 and now have a whole range of noises that can get loud, it’s just awful. And doesn’t help I have red hair. I stick right out
I hate it when people just accuse me of "seeking" attention. I'm generally all like; "there are better ways to get attention when I want it and I don't want or need the negative attention that you're giving me, so please adjust your attitude or leave me alone."

My dad told me about his friend in high school with Tourette’s. His tick was craning his head to the side and making a little “ehhh” sound. It wasn’t always super bad, but it got worse when he was nervous. My dad said his biggest mistake was going ding dong ditching with him. They hid in the bushes, and the whole while making noises and revealing their location. But the guy is now a teacher, cool enough

One of my tics is “is that a beetroot?” And one time, I shouted that and my mom pulled out a beetroot and said “yes, it is!”. I was laughing my ass off 😂
How would you go about going on a flight like that? I mean, I think the best option would be to inform personnel and crew members of your syndrome. But that doesn't really help the passengers around you. Are you allowed to fly with that kind of disorder? I probably wouldn't fly if I had that even if I could. Damn, now that I think about it, it severely limits your life. Even a job, one would have to work from home or something.

I watched this a few years ago thinking “Oh wow, having Tourette’s must suck.” Two weeks ago I started having motor tics and now I’m rewatching it with a new appreciation. Also, I just want to say. Not all tics are visible. Some are small twitches or clenching certain muscles. Just because someone’s tics don’t involve them moving a lot, doesn’t mean they’re faking. Just thought that should be said.
True, and touretts isn't the only reason people twitch, I twitch and have occasional vocal ticks where I make a noise (I've never said a word) but I don't have touretes, we don't know what is causing it tho.

And if you don’t know, when people with Tourette get together the tics get worse so can you imagine living with us? My poor husband.
for me, just being around people makes my tics 100% worse. During the UK's third lockdown, my tics were almost nonexistent because I live in my room but when I started going back to school or whenever my brain just goes "hey remember we have this?", that's when I tic.
My best friends see me tic all the time, but somehow their thought process is "if she tics i have to distract her so she does tic", so now every time i tic in class they sing Never Gonna Give You Up in an attempt to distract me and make me laugh and its the sweetest thing ever
My little sister has Tourettes and she is allergic to all of the medicine the doctors give her so she doesnt take any. I think shes great. Some of her ticks are super cute, like sometimes she'll walk around saying "chicken chicken chicken" she also says pickle. If you make certain sounds she copies them, and she has a few motor ticks. For example if you give her a highfive she always claps her hands after bc she feels like its "not completed" without it. Shes so cute
my friends tell me they are jeulous and wished they had it, they say it's a super power. it kinda is, if i roll my eyes at my dad and i get in trouble i say it was a tic and i dont get in trouble
I personally never knew this much about Tourette's, and this is...honestly enlightening to see that what I had previously thought Tourette's was simply ignorance. Quite glad to see these people open up about this and how it makes them truly feel. Very brave and a very good watch. You gotta understand the people around you on this planet.
Things not to say to someone having a panic/ anxiety attack. Edit: thanks for all of the likes and comments! Hope this happens! (There’s clearly a bunch of us that can speak to it)

It’s the little random things that are funny or weird for those of us with tics, like I talk about my tics as if they’re a person such as “last week my tics learned to whistle”
I do that too, I find myself saying things like, "My tics are being incredibly rude right now." way too often. Once my friend talked to them and they gave legit answers. So now I know that my tics are 62 million years old.
I have Tourette’s and one of mine is head shaking and looking back at people if they’re beside or behind me, and it’s really bad in school so it’s awkward making eye contact with people every five seconds lmao I also had one where when I would flip people off and it eventually became so bad I would do it everytime I rose my hand, and it was be very awkward when I would flip of the teacher. The first thing I thought of when reading this comment was their song “Tourette’s” Although I don’t know how true it is or what evidence there is to back it up, there are some people who speculate that Kurt himself may have been suffering from the disorder. Obviously a more minor case if it were true, but it’s an interesting thought.
I had two kids in my middle school class who had Tourette's syndrome but neither one knew the other had it. So they were both ticking bad one day and got mad at each other. They both thought they were making fun of each other.
3headedpuppy that actually sounds funny but I know that if that were me I sure would just be getting mad at them. well it depends if they were having the same tics as me

Lol one of mine is to jerk my head to the side repeatedly (while pushing my lips to the opposite side). Once I was in training at work, listening to a lecture, and I thought I was safe so I started ticcing and the lecturer stopped and asked why I was disagreeing with her.
My worst tic is stiffening/twitching my neck, which usually goes along with me moving my jaw in, like, a downward circular motion sort of? Sometimes it will give me terrible neck pains. They are a real pain in the neck if you know what I mean

I was always ashamed of my tourette's because it was always so stigmatised in the media when I was growing up. This video has helped me a lot as it's shown me that there's others out there I can relate to, and that I'm not alone. Cheers BBC 3!
I don’t have Tourette’s, but I am diagnosed with OCD and ADHD but many of my OCD ‘tics’ are repetitive fast movements. Even something like that sucks and is embarrassing. Mad respect for people who learn to be okay with and deal with Tourette’s.
troy Dacre Yeah I have adhd and I used to have freaky bad anxiety and ocd a few years ago when I was like nine. I didn’t know I had ocd but looking back up until then my entire life I’d had tics, and not just from ADHD meds. She's super cute!
“bro just hold it in”
I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY THAT LIKE😩
People with Tourette's 🤝 People who menstruate:
"Just hold it in"
Yup, because that's definitely something that we can do. Another thing that's really annoying is, "Your so embarrassing." Like, I'm sorry sir, I didn't know it's embarrassing for YOU.
that's like telling someone with long hair to just make their hair stop growing. *where's the logic*
*my dad:*
*Ppl in the vid:* talk and/or show the tics they have
*My brain:* instantly imitates them and haves a tic attak
*Me:* wtf
YEA MY BRAIN DID
@Rachel Kistler Oh man.... I feel you
Them: *tic*
My tics: NOW ITS TIME TO GET FUNKY
@@SnowyFox-ue5jq That sounds pretty amazing ngl
I pretty much have the most common ones as head tilts and shaking my hands, I also scrunch my nose lmao
@@SnowyFox-ue5jq omg r u ok now?
My dad has tourette's and has always thought he was a freak but as me and my brother say, hell, you're completely normal to us! I get really pissed off when people presume that tourette's only come's in the form of swearing or when people just think said person is "mad". I started developing ticks in my early teens , it was so funny, me and my dad would sit in the living room setting each others ticks off and be knackered after half and hour! Hahaha! :) x
Sara Saunders it’s spelled tics
Oh goodness i bet that is pretty fub
Sara Saunders
It really ticks me off when people say that. You just look at them and are like seriously. 😵
HoodietheProxy 857 that unintentional pun tho

😂😂😂😂😂😂
How did the one guy get his tattoos?
Jetpack Blues he uploaded a video on his TH-cam channel on the subject 😁 search for Jack Francis
Summer Gordon But He needed to lay still for a long time, right?
Jetpack Blues when he feels tics coming he warns the tattoo artist so they can stop tattooing.
Sophia TheSoap That makes sense. Thanks!
Jetpack Blues he warns his tattoo artist when a tic is coming
That one dude is BRAVE to have gotten facial tattoos knowing he has Tourettes, because one sudden movement could severely mess up a tattoo, and you face is a body part that can't be easily covered up if a tattoo is botched.
OMG Jack Francis!!!
LA Hisle dude I Love him
:)
I hate it when my mum tells me I just need to relax when I’m ticcing bad or having a tic attack :(
oml, I didn't realize other people had those! I know I'm stupid lmao but there are just times where I can't do anything but tic for like 5 min straight!
Omg ikkk
Same! My dad gets mad at me coz I do random dance moves and he’s like “cAnT yOu sIt sTiLl fOr oNe mInUtE!”
My friend is a lot bigger than I am. (Like 6’5 or some shit) but i find that hugging him like a koala bear for a while helps him calm down.
Yeah well I'm grateful for my mom. She's hugging me until I feel okay again..
Am I the only one with tourette's that when I watched this my turettes was like game on and went crazy
Someone's ticks can trigger someone else's try to think about something else when they do it or something to distract you or just really concentrate on something other than their ticks
Yeah but I don't regret watching this video.
Yess!
Samee I was watching this and I was just going 🔁🔁🔁🔁🔁🔁🔁🔁🔁🔁
Your tourette’s: It’s hero time!
Once when I was eating lunch with my grandma at McDonald's I twitched and an EMT in training jumped up and was yelling for someone to call 911 and my grandma had to explain that I had Tourettes and I was so embarrassed cause the EMT in training kept insisting that I was having a seizure.... 😂
Sarah Rader Feller I was on the bus and the kids told my bus driver that I was having a seizure and she got the principal and I had to explain in front of like 50 people that it was Tourette’s XD
Us Tourettes people have it hard me and my friend have Tourettes and we were going crazy in form that same day did a science test and it happened again she was right next to me as well so she understood it wasn't vocal but she knew what was happening so she let me borrow her hoodie to make it less obvious and when she did her math test a few days after I let her borrow my hoodie like we knew we stick together because we know the annoyance and the pain btw it was the jerking of the head and rubbing the nose with blinking so ye it's safe to say we saved each others backs
Same I have a complex tic which looks like I’m having a fit and I was going to be injected with dyasipan
I'm actually crying rn. I think I have it and my life is already messed up enough. If I get tics in class or in public (verbal tics I mean which I haven't got any yet except for grunting) then I would feel like dying. Being constantly anxious and having low self esteem AND having trouble staying positive won't help me if I have this. I am only 12.
Omg, actually you can get cards to explain your condition and also about tic attacks so someone doesn’t freak out
