I'm impressed with their concentration and ability to keep going when the others are interrupting them with tics, but that's because I'm overly sensitive to being interrupted because of my stutter
My Dad also has a stutter and is very sensitive to interruption. Sometimes being interrupted makes him stutter. It's tough because he tends to stutter when he's upset so I tend to get anxious when people stutter because of him.
I stutter only at school, not at home, but it can be quite bad at times... I don’t know why... @@indridcold3425 hmm I might not be the best person to answer that, because I haven’t had verbal tics since I was a kid, and now I only have motors tics. Personally tho I’ve never heard of a Tourette’s Syndrome related case involving tics coming out through text. It would be highly unlikely for that to happen, and if it does I would assume there are other conditions that play into that and not just Tourette’s. It’s just not how the disorder works especially if you’re talking about full texts using sentences.

I obviously don't speak for everyone who has TS, just myself. Please don't "feel bad for us" that's not what we want. All we really want is for people to actually do their research, and I don't mean a quick Google search. We're human beings, our wires are just a bit jumbled up there.
I have TS and I FULLY agree. I mean if I tell someone that I just had a fairly large tic attack recently and they say, "Oh, sorry that happened that must've sucked." I personally don't mind because they're right it probably did. But if just say I have Tourette's and they say, "I feel bad for you." I don't like that. I don't need pity from people.
This exactly! I have ts but I dont have verbal tics that are actually words or anything. All of my verbal tics are throat clearing, popping sounds, snorting etc. and sometimes it feels like people dont believe I have tourettes because of the common misconception that all people with tourettes just say random curse words
Pity is indeed very negative and I don't like that. I do like empathy because it is kind and positive. I do not have TS myself but I do have other disabilities. I have empathy for everyone, not pity. I do not feel sorry for you being the way you are and who you are but I do have empathy for the things that are hard that you go through. It is more often that people without any disabilities show pity. People with a disabiliy are more likely to have empathy because they know pity sucks, and they are able to understand disabilities better.

Respectfully, I believe Jacob has hyperhydrosis. It’s a disorder that makes you sweat a lot. You sweat more when you’re nervous or anxious. You typically sweat in your underarms, hands, feet, and face. There are treatment options. I hope he sees this and looks into it if he hasn’t. Best wishes.
Yeah absolutely. I used to have excessive sweating that somehow went away magically and let’s just say I learned to remember to wear black shirts in certain settings
For anyone who may need to hear thi: I use Certain Dri. Not sure if I have hyperhidrosis but I would sweat more than I'd like. I use the everyday strength. They have a prescription strength and extra strength as well. There's also sweat block that I heard works. Always apply your antiperspirant at night after your shower. It needs time to work overnight by getting into your pores and sweat glands to block them.
Girl even if he doesn’t see this you helped me . Thank you I’m going to look into it! I knew there had to be a name for this crap /: I wake up sweating & cold cause of the sweat smh.
They seem like the best kind of person to have as a friend. And I don't say this to laugh at the tics and the situations... but they genuinely, each of them, seem to be people with no meanness... for lack of a better word. Of course, this is largely because of Tourette, but as a person who has few friends, like me, it would be an honor to have one of them
I guess because I always had to show my true self to people (bcs tics will pop up whenever you want it or not) it was easier to find genuine friends as a child and adult
@@hikikomort he probably did. That's the point, to make him more comfortable. He's gonna have a picture of him covered in sweat. I'm sure he would rather be in a clean shirt
It isn't so random. well, it is. Basically it feels like an uncontrollable urge to do or say something until you do it, every moment you hold it back gives you intense discomfort and prevents concentration on anything else until you do it, then you feel huge relief once you finally tic.....for maybe 30 seconds.. Then it starts to build up again.
Working in fast food/retail is already hell for people without tics because customers can be unempathetic assholes- I can't even imagine the struggle of working with Tourette's

Because they are surrounded by people going through the same thing, they know they're not interrupting on purpose
I stutter only at school, not at home, but it can be quite bad at times... I don’t know why... It must be in my head, so I’m afraid to talk in public
I have autism, if you asked me to talk about that in front of people I would not have the courage they did to talk about there Tourette’s.

As someone who has Tourette’s syndrome I’m so grateful for this video ❤️ My tics are not as severe, but it’s still a daily struggle that is so misunderstood by others. I’m glad we can have an open conversation about what it’s like living with this disorder, and I’m so proud there was such an amazing group of people chosen for this important discussion :)
I have a question.
Do tics come out only verbally? Or can they come out through text messages?

Not TS, but yeah, I feel this with my disabilities, I hate pity. Big solidarity
I personally don't mind the sympathy! It is comforting to see people putting themselves in my/our shoes. Pity not so much.
I feel bad for the verbal tics that could really get you into trouble or into a bad situation
for sure 😬 i have tourette’s but none are verbal and i can’t imagine what i’d do if they were verbal, especially cussing tics

@@IncredibleIceCastle same. I wear black daily.

For anyone who may need to hear thi:
I use Certain Dri.

It isn't so random. well, it is. Then it starts to build up again.

Their disability makes them annoying, that's the truth even if it's offensive
It’s tricky. You can have empathy for them but a lot of people just can’t function or focus when someone is yelling constantly.
Working in fast food/retail is already hell for people without tics because customers can be unempathetic assholes- I can't even imagine the struggle of working with Tourette's
@@wiswc It is a lot more than it being a distraction to you or others. Their brain is loud. It is hard to think,or concentrate or learn. Especially if there are things that set them off or stress them. For every tic they let happen and comes out.of their mouth, they are holding back 100. It keeps swirling in their head and their brain gets overloaded and sometimes does a reset like they are coming out of a dream.
