    If you're going to list Olympic 'distance dynamos' you have to include Emil Zatopek (Czech) who won the 5K, 10K, and marathon at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.

    During races track commentators like to point out who looks calm and who seems to be struggling. Hassan is always grimacing, her stride isn't as smooth as others, and then she crosses the line first. After the race she's happy about her performance and the smile comes out.

    How many people have medalled 5k, 10k, marathon in the same olympics? In a lifetime? I thought Zatopek was a more realistic comparison than Nurmi

    Not T&F, but I think Mijain Lopez may have one of the highest athletic achievements in any sport to date with 5 gold medals in 1 event over 5 olympics. And he did it in wrestling which is one of the hardest sports on the body to stay at the top for 20 years.

    00:29; Unlike Crouser & Kipyegon, poor Nafi Thiam always seems to get left out for also winning 3 consecutive OLY Golds (HEP). Those who were disappointed that Beatrice Chebet (World XC Gold, OLY 5/10K Golds, DL 5K Final win & 10K WR) didn't do a little better during the nominations process will likely be happy that at least the overall Female AotY Award went to another distance athlete in Sifan Hassan who picked up another incredible 3 individual medals in consecutive OLYs. Tebogo winning the overall Male AotY Award over Mondo was a little surprising.

    the most insane come back i have ever seen is Glenn Maxwell's 201 not out against Afhganistan in the 2023 Cricket World Cup in India as after Australia slump to 7-81 (or something close to that) he put on an insane performance to almost singlehandedly win the game for australia

    No offense to sprinters, but 100, 200, 300m is still just less than 1 lap, which really isn't range, whereas for distance it's 2 laps, 3.75 laps and 12.5 and 25 laps

    • @AllInTheGame01

      Not true as only 3 men in history have run sub 10/20/44s (100/200/400m respectively). Very few sub 10s 100m sprinters have even run under 45s cos it's so difficult to have that range!

    I take note that when you remember the greatest ever WR's you are neither talking nor showing to yr followers some images from that crazy Pietro Mennea's 200mt record that after about 40 years remains the European record. Not only: in a interesting historical 200mt reconstruction you did, there was so little place for the man remembered as the Southern Arrow (in otalian Freccia del Sud, the name of a train running on a railroad that transfered millions of southern workers to northern italian factories and to European miners places.
    I mean, there is a peculiar reason for this loss of such an athlete, the man that when could be meeting Bolt, to his surprize for not having in front a black man answered ''i'm black inside''.
    In Italy Mennea was considered a not easy man's figure for his total integrity, none attitude towards political compromises and a head too hard to stay in that sincerly very poor national's driving class.
    He was known for his notorious crazy training sections signed by prof Vittori that all other athletes couldn't resist to for more than a little days; I never heard of doping around these men professing in life total repulse for pharmacological or medical abuses in sport' practices.
    Am i wrong for living in Italy and not having the right infos? Or are there other reasons for yr apparently low intetest in that guy? Tnx

    Nostradamus you bring tears to my eyes.
    Some men are blessed to have sons. Some are blessed to have sons and daughters.
    The most blessed are the men who have only daughters.
    Thank you for your praise of Mitochondrial Eve.
    Gentlemen I know you share my joy in that Nostradamus has made the case that the best rated runners in the world are women.
    I would not be shocked if it were a woman who runs the first 1:57. And for our daughter's sake I hope so.
    Nostradamus thank you for just calling balls balls and strikes strikes no matter who is at bat and no matter who is on the mound.

    I challenge you mister total running productions host. Next time you have the opportunity to do so. Try Pole vaulting for yourself. Just once, you don't have to do it more than once. Just put a Pole in your hand and try and clear a bar.
    And then after you've done that. You can continue to mock and criticize Mondo Duplantis and the hype around him. But, until you do that, please stop. It's very annoying.

      I went to high school with Matt Slauson. He played in the NFL for a time.
      Anyway, he was a shotputter or thrower in high school. I did shotput for a little bit, and he did pole vault for a little bit. He weighed almost 300 pounds and cleared 10 feet in the first week. Challenge...

    • @stunccy
      @stunccy 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      It’s not that it isn’t impressive it’s just annoying that we aren’t seeing his full potential, because there is more money in raising the bar very little each time instead of seeing him attempt the highest he can go

    • @Robert_McGarry_Poems
      @Robert_McGarry_Poems 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @stunccy it's not offensive if you are a pole vaulter... so why should people who don't understand or take the time to actually appreciate what they are seeing get to dictate a sport they have no clue about.... EXCEPT FOR Mondo bringing the spotlight to the sport... it makes no sense.

      I read a paper once from a physicist. I don't remember the details. It was a long time ago. Anyway, basically, it came down to the only two things harder in sports than jumping 6m is golfing a round even with Tiger Woods at his best or hitting a Randy Johnson fastball at his best. There are not many things harder in sports than, say, gymnastics itself.
