    I believe I have the same prob. I have 2 questions.
    1) how do I remove the regulator? On both sides of the regulator there are 2 spikes, how do I remove them to release the regulator.
    2) the nipple attaced to the regulator. Mine, has a large Crack, does that nipple have to be completely closed off when attached to the regulator? Thank you so much! Thus is the only video that's helped

      @@petervigil1762 I used a flat head to gently pry up the little spiked washer things. I had to slowly go around it.
      Which nipple are you talking about? If you have Instagram you can shoot me a PM over there with a picture and I'd be happy to look. There was a hose on one end of the regulator that was torn however it went nowhere so it didn't matter.

    This is exactly what mine sounds like when I turn the key and I can’t get it to start. Did you bypass the filter or replace it?

    Ongoing issue with my 2002 S4, know that crank/no-start sound well.

      Did you find the culprit? I know that generation of the VW/AUDI had it fair share of electrical issues.

      @@boostandbikes not yet, plan to pull the tank and replace the in-tank fuel lines.

    I wonder if that is ok for the engine, it runs very high not just a little high. but if you are happy with it its all good. ride safe

      If I recall correctly it is okay to let it idle around 2k rpm while it is warming up.

    I have a 2013 Monster EVO and it sort of had same issue last weekend. But it eventually started. New yuasa battery and i keep it on tender. I saved this video for future ref. If i replaced the entire fuel system with CA parts it would be cheaper than ducati dealer?

      If they have the parts that fit your bike I would assume so. Ducati did not sell the fuel pressure regulator and pump seperately. They only sold the entire unit which was super expensive. IIRC the assembly was like $1400 from Ducati and I got the pump and reg for under $200. I honestly wouldn't replace anything until you had to.

      Hate to say it guys there’s a reason Ducati doesn’t sell these critical parts separately. Service manual dictates they are ALL replaced at once. That prevents 4 separate failures when the unreplaced pieces eventually fail. Price of ownership of a handmade Italian masterpiece.

    Hi, a 2013 Monster 696 rider here 👋 Have a similar starting issue with my bike. Bike refuses to start with the fast-idle lever fully on, but sputters with the fast-idle cracked open just a tad. Changed the battery & then the plugs, the bike started & ran, but idle speed was low - 950 RPM. The exhaust pipe for the vertical cylinder is only lukewarm, while the exhaust pipe for the horizontal cylinder gets very hot. If the throttle is cracked open, then it appears both cylinders begin to work & the exhaust pipe for the vertical cylinder gets hot as well. Looks to be some kind of a fuelling issue with the vertical cylinder during idling. Any help appreciated ...

      How long have you had that issue? Do you have any error codes or lights on? I will start my bike with the fast idle lever off and then when it fires up I will increase the fast idle lever until RPM's reach about 2,000 RPM. If the 2013 fuel system is like my bike it is quite similar. I am no professional and just have fun working on stuff so attempt repairs at your own risk. I put these in the easy and cheapest first.
      You could try the following(Assuming it is the same as my 2009)
      -Double check plug gap and make sure your plug wires are on the plug all the way.
      -Test for spark at idle on the vertical cylinder. Google how to do this as it is straight forward.
      If you have spark then you could try:
      -Add maybe .5 oz or about 14 ml of Seafoam (injector cleaner) to the fuel tank and fill it up with fuel and see ride arouond for a while and see if this helps.
      if not:
      next would be:
      -Swap injectors around. If the issue stays the same then you likely have some form of electrical issue. If the issue changes cylinders(vertical is hot and horizontal is lukewarm) then you have a bad injector.
      Since it is one cylinder having the issue my bet is going to be a sticking injector and hopefully the injector clean helps. If it were a pump or fuel pressure regulator It would likely have difference symptoms.

      ​@@boostandbikes : Hey, thanks ! Has it been a year already ? The bike sat idle for more than a year, refusing to start at all, using starting fluid would get it to fire up, but wouldn't run on fuel ! After a year of letting the bike just sit idle, a couple of months ago I pulled the "flange" out of the fuel tank - it was gross ! The strainer, fuel pump, FPR, everything was covered in what looked to be a whitish powdery substance. I almost thought someone had poured sugar or flour into the tank - it was so bad. I understand now that this is a result of ethanol fuel sitting around in the tank for months.
      Since it looked to be a fuelling issue, I surmised it was either the crud in the tank, the fuel pump, the FPR, or some combination of all three. I couldn't see the fuel pump for my bike ( a 2013 M696 ) on the CA-CycleWorks web-site, but was able to find one from Quantum-Fuel-Systems ( www.highflowfuel.com ). I was able to find the FPR on CA-CycleWorks store on Amazon - I got a 3.5 Bar one. They had a 3.0 Bar FPR, but it did not have an outlet "pipe", the one I pulled from my bike had a "pipe", so I just got the one with it. Truth be told, the outlet "pipe" on the 3.5 Bar FPR appears superfluous since it's not connected to anything, but I just didn't want to take the risk.
      While the 3.5 Bar FPR will allow a higher fuel pressure in the "rail", I 'am assuming it would only be in open loop mode; in closed loop, the ECU should be able to reduce the injector pulses enough to maintain stoichiometric ratios methinks. Is your M696 running without issues ?

      @@imsrini my understanding is the ECU should be able to adjust fuel some. I have also read the bike runs a bit lean from the factory too. I haven't been able to ride much as I have had a lot going on. I haven't had any issues with the bike running or noticed any negative effects. Did you get it to run?

    I had the same issue with my 09 sfv650 the Japanese Ducati monster. The bike sat for a while waiting for some other parts and the fuel pump went bad. I had bought a non OEM fuel pump only but it went bad within a couple of minutes so I went ahead and bought the OEM full fuel pump assembly which was $800 but I was able to find it new at a dealer in North Carolina for $400. I replaced it and the bike fired up and it’s been running good ever since.

      At least you were able to get a good deal on one. Glad you were able to. I'm not sure how long mine sat before I got it. But I know the owner didn't ride it much for a few years.

    Hi was watching your video I have a 2017 Ducati 959 panigale and I had the same issue as your bike went for a ride and it completely died as well tried to fire it back on and it the same thing as your bike was wondering if you would be able to help me out as well

      When you turn the key to the on position does the fuel pump kick on?

    I had a problem with my monster 696 2012 After I arrive from my ride, the motorcycle shuts down and does not want to start its must rest up to the next day so I can turn it on again
    I clean throttle,changed aur filter and spark plugs
    Any one can help

    I’m having a very similar issue with my 2002 monster 750, however it keeps blowing the 20 amp fuel pump fuse, possibly the same issue?

      If it keeps blowing fuses I would believe there is a short somewhere causing it or the pump is bad and causing it. I'm not great with electrical so I don't really know the best way to try to diagnose if it is shorted.

    I got same issues with my 1100evo, accidentally put bad gas,after that i change with good gas, and it start for couple minute and won’t start anymore.
    So what should i service, the fuel filter or regulator org fuel pump?

      I would start with the fuel filter.

    The first time the bike wont start, did the fuel pump prime upon turning on ignition key?

      Yes, you could hear it prime.

      If I remember correctly I just pulled up on it. There may have been a retainer on the side that I had to pop off first.

    how do you locate the fuel return line?

      If you are sitting on the bike it is on the left side. Between the tank and the frame you can see it coming back.
