      @@rayj.9568 Yeah, I thought since he was probably the biggest omission at nba50 i was hoping that the voters would've smarten up and was looking forward to righting that mistake come induction time. Being a Raiders fan, I hated that the nfl only decided to put kenny stabler in their hall after he died and I'm still (kinda) pissed Tom Flores is still not in (the man has ONLY delivered 2 sb trophy's not to mention all the things he bought to the table 1st latino qb, coach and hell even a good commentator on tv and radio). But I guess it wouldn't be a proper hof if it didn't have bad and controversial omissions everywhere (that last line was my attempt to make light of it, but even I can only muster a half chuckle)

They both deserve way more respect for their contributions to the game.

    Great video! Always loved to watch Dominique play. Whenever Dominique played, it did not matter who he was playing against, he was pure adrenaline and you never took your eyes off him. Thanks for stats...I knew he scored a lot, just didn't realize how impressive they were!

    • @samwelsh8241
      @samwelsh8241 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Randy Crock when you think about this man you don't think about stats and numbers and that's what Nique was all about he wasn't trying to have higher numbers than everybody else all he wanted to do was just play with the style that only he possessed. And when you are the only all star player on your team then you have no choice but to score all the time. But he just kept on getting screwed out of winning. 2 dunk contests one against spud and one against Michael both and both of there last dunks were made on 2nd attempts. Spud won just because he was short still impressive I will admit but still you can't win on second attempt because everybody knows what you're trying to do. Then the Michael one was even bigger BS because: 1 it was the most popular player ever in his home town and the biggest thing was the judges for that contest were all Chicago people so what would you expect. And then came the 90's Dominique tore his Achilles but even that didn't stop him from getting better. If he didn't get injured he would have made the Dream Team instead of Christian Leattner. But the next season he came back people said in the best shape of his Career (read that again). And the Hawks were the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference to prove it. And keep in mind that there was no Larry Bird Celtics, no Bad Boy pistons or Jordan led bulls to stop him and the hawks. So the only other team in the East were the knicks with Patrick Ewing, Oakley, John Starks, and I believe Greg Anthony was there though I'm not sure if GA was a pro yet. So the playoffs begin and the assistant coach comes to Nique's house (not the the head coach, the GM or owner bothered to tell him) and they Traded Him to the Clippers, for a rookie A ROOKIE who didn't even make it into the starting lineup. and the hawks kicked him off the team so Atlanta was left without an all star. Even before this trade the hawks had already traded most it's players they traded rivers, spud, they even had Sidney Moncrief and Moses freaking Malone. This has got to be the most bone headed move in the history of sports, Why on Earth would you trade the Face of your entire organization while you're in your best season right at the beginning of the playoffs when you already got rid of 75% of the talent you had and when you are the top seed.

      @@samwelsh8241 Back then player contracts didn't get talked about like they do now, I'm just guessing, but that trade seemed to be one of those "lets get something for him while he still has value" moves. Maybe his contract was ending the next season? I don't know but Dominique loved Atlanta, I can't see the management believing he would just leave on his own, especially as the team was becoming a legit contender.

    • @MisterTurner-ex1fv
      @MisterTurner-ex1fv 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jonathan Taylor The National Basketball Association (NBA) established the flagrant foul in the 1980-81 season and enacted proper penalties for it in 1990-91,[1] to deter contact which, in addition to being against the rules, puts an opponent's safety or health at risk.
      The NBA defines[2] two levels of flagrant fouls, "Flagrant 1" and "Flagrant 2". Flagrant 2 has the additional element of "excessive" violence and results in the immediate ejection of the offender. Flagrant 1 does not result in the offender's ejection unless the same player commits a second Flagrant 1 foul in the same game. Referees have discretion in determining which level to call.

    This is only the tip of the iceberg with disrespect towards Nique. Besides not being Top 50, he wasn't part of the '92 Dream Team and wasn't a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. How is that possible?!?!? He had two 57 pt games and one of them was against the Bulls. He outscored Jordan 57-41 and the Hawks won by 28 pts. He was severely overlooked and unfortunately was in the Eastern Conference during the Celtics to Pistons to Bulls domination periods. When I tell ppl who my favorite all time player is, usually I get blank expressions. It's a shame his career and legacy gets overshadowed by everybody during that era.

    Not trying to make any excuses for him getting that snub but Wilkins was a quiet dude. We wasn't a loud mouth or show off or anything like that. The dude took care of business on the court and kept it low key afterwards. Im 39 and grew up watching these guys play and you could have forgotten about Wilkins even during his hayday and the other thing was he played for the Hawks and nobody liked the Hawks back then. Unless you played on the Lakers, bulls, celtics, sun's, jazz, rocket's, Knicks, pistons and few others you'd get absolutely no coverage especially teams like the Hawks.

    He didn't have all that much help on those Hawks teams...he had an aging Moses Malone in the twilight of his career for awhile...and Doc Rivers and Kevin Willis had good careers but were not stars.Although Willis had some big rebounding #'s for awhile. That division was super tough during that era with the Celtics, Pistons, Jordan, and the Bucks were even good in the 80's.

    In 1986, when Domonique won the Scoring title he was in a super close race with Adrian Dantley and Alex English. If memory serves me correct, Wilkins won on the final day of the season. Michael Jordan was injured most of that year and he was not qualified to be in the standings played 18 games, Started 7 averaged 22.7 ppg...did have that killer game though in the playoff loss to the Celtics though). I saw The Bulls and Hawks play in Atlanta in 1987. The Atlanta fans loved 'Nique. I got to see him play again in 1993...Domonique is truly an All Time great and one of my favorite players ever
