Still my favorite in game dunker of all time. Vince had more versatility and maybe more grace. Kemp might've had more raw power. Nobody combined those qualities like him, though.
And he was the CLEANEST dunker ever. No thrunks, no ball rattling around the rim before going through. He straight up SPIKED that shit through the rim straight to the floor like a volleyball.

    • @robertot.m.8747
      @robertot.m.8747 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I´m not sure Vince has more versatility... watch videos of him, the variety is not so big. Also Vince didn´t have the power that Nique had. I will also add that MJ had the ability to stay in the air "suspended" and Nique has a little bit of that quality. Modern dunkers doesn´t have that ability, they can jump really high, but the dunks are performed so fast...

So true. He wasn't much of a passer but he developed into a great scorer. Unfortunately in his prime he had Mike Fraternity as a coach, who never really instituted a real offense. His last season with the Hawks thought, Nique was on fire, Jordan was playing baseball, the Pistons and Celtics were old and the Hawks had a 14 game winning streak and were tied for 1st in the East. But it was Nique's last season under contract and the Hawks traded him to the Clippers. Tragic but true.

Nique was a beast, and the '87-'88 squad that took the Celtics to the wire in the playoffs remains one of the most entertaining teams in any sport that I've had the joy of cheering for, that season included the overtime win over the Stockton-Malone Jazz that remains the most thrilling sporting event I've attended in person. Starters were Nique, Kevin Willis, Doc Rivers at point, Tree Rollins blocking everything at center and Randy Wittman at SG. A great bench with Spud, John Battle, Cliff Levingston and Antoine Carr. I doubt I know any other roster by heart like that and I doubt I will again - such a great season to be a Hawks fan.

Nique was the most powerful in game dunkers ever. His put back dunks were savage he didnt care who he put his nuts on, opposing team his own team didnt matter. His signature 2 footed take off contact in the air double pump to the side and beat the rim up slam.. the sound of the rim was like getting hit with a log. Yes he also had the signature windmill.

It’s crazy how durable this man was. The only man to suffer an Achilles tear and come back even better than he was before. Not to mention you don’t see any dunkers in our game today do these kind of in-game dunks, these were layups to Nique.

I never paid any attention to basketball until the Raptors entered the league when I was 9. Around then, I started seeing these Dominique highlights for the first time, and I remember thinking at first that he was 7 feet tall. He just took up so much space posterizing people at only 6'8".

It’s not Dominique , but here are links to some other videos of that you may enjoy watching, since you enjoy watching how the game once was once played...
I also included one of Bird. Magic and Bird are forever linked and intertwined.
      Here’s a link to Bird’s mixtape:
      th-cam.com/video/hcXv0JtzNQA/w-d-xo.html
Also, here are some other videos that you’ll probably appreciate and enjoy, since you already mentioned his highlights are jaw dropping to you...
Check these additional videos out to see what Showtime Lakers, led by Magic, were all about...
Here’s a few other videos that are very good watches for fans of Magic, or for people who may not know much about Magic but want to learn more about him as a player, or for people who seem to underestimate his greatness and may need some extra convincing and evidence of it.
All are very entertaining and compelling to watch. Check them out to see exactly why he was called Magic...
      th-cam.com/video/q8Qbo0WqvOI/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/so8R3NTbnEw/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/axbIoHqFaa8/w-d-xo.html
The first video is another very well-done highlight video, not just of his amazing passes, but also of his very underrated offensive abilities as a scorer (right and left handed hook shots, countless half-full court buzzer beaters, (as if he practiced those shots hundreds of times), demonstrating his clutchness). Showtime Lakers on full display...fast break after fast break after fast break. Just constantly running up and down the floor, like a track meet...
The second video is actual game footage that shows Magic and Showtime Lakers in an actual game, rather than just highlights, to demonstrate that they really played that way throughout entire games, and that it’s not just a series of highlights inflating them up. Showtime Lakers were so much fun and very exciting to watch...
The last video is an HBO documentary that is one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen. (Many clips from it were spliced into this video above). It highlights the Magic vs. Bird rivalry, which still to this day was one of the best rivalries in all of sports. It gives insight into not just their NBA careers, but also their lives, early careers, and childhoods. A very compelling story to watch...
If you’re a fan of basketball in general, you’ll definitely enjoy watching these videos...

Yes - for as many of these posterizing dunks you see him doing, at most, he’ll act excited and high five his teammates, or do nothing at all and just run back on defense. Nothing like today, where a player screams and pounds his chest and flexes after each ordinary play.

He has to be the fanciest dunker of all time. Most would only do these types of dunks in dunking competitions, but Nique was doing it regularly in real games. He is one of my favorite players, along with Drexler and Jordan because they were athletic, physical and drove hard to the basket for a power dunk - usually bulling the big guys on the dunk during an era when big men were supposed to rule.
