My man said “if you don’t care you can just yank it and it will work” boyyyy did you just save my ass I couldn’t move my rv for so long and you just got me back on the road thank you sir
Jason, A BIG THANK YOU! Had to move my 05 Tahoe before they towed it. Followed this video step by step and got it to move. While at work someone tried to steal my car. Locked my ignition cylinder so my key won't even switch over cuz the antitheft lock activated. Got to work on that next. It's pretty banged up and going to be a bitch to replace cuz they jammed it. Hope that dirtbag gets what he deserves soon KEEP ON JASON, THANKS AGAIN MAN
I'm legit. Bought a city impounded vehicle. Came without keys. Appreciate the help. We loaded with a payloader but now I'm trying to get off the trailer.
Without the key turned in the cylinder isn't the steering wheel still locked? I can see being able to move forward and back but I don't think you could turn it.
This video really helped thanks a lot had a 1997 gmc safari dead battery locked shifter just had to move so it can make an easy tow….. thanks again and still didn’t have the right tools smh
Thank you very much my 97GMC pickup Truck l am the owner am trying to work on it myself l don't know what am doing l know that I will succeed l am Determined .
Easier yes, but what if you're by yourself and trying to actually drive the truck....... I'm not comfortable shifting a truck into gear while I'm laying under it with nobody in the driver seat, parking brake is not 100% guaranteed to hold the vehicle still.
@MohawkMotors Yes. Don't ever do that or try to start across the starter or relay. I know of a few ppl who got hurt pretty bad doing those. Especially when it comes to a piece of equipment like a dozer, tractor, etc. If u had help, and the help was not a idiot or drunk, you could chock the wheels, hold the brakes, etc and shift trans in gear at transmission. I bought a late 70s thunderbird in Utah when I was a young man. Guy said he lost the cap to rad, NP and the shifter broke in colum so he had a hole in trans hump with vice grips hooked to the plastic piece that goes on shifting arm. I was dumb and bought car. Tired of walking everywhere, and got cap. Car overheated. There was a gasket issue that's why no cap was on it. Ran fine without cap. Not hood with. Sold it and got a dodge omni 4 speed with the big black button on shifter you had to depress and shift to Reverse. Gr8 car.
@merchadvantage1712 on your 87, it's a bar mechanical linkage. If you open the hood and look down at the bottom of the steering column you'll be able to see a little arm with a piece of round bar through it that leads down toward the transmission, pull the cotter pin out of the bar and then you can shift the transmission from the engine compartment.
Did you watch the whole video? You don't need the key, just disconnect the shift cable from the bottom of the shift arm in the steering column. You can watch my other video on how to start the engine without a key and you're all set.
I call bullshit. When you put your key in the ignition and turn it you unlock the steering wheel. Sometimes when you have the wheel turmed you have to turn the wheel to release the pressure to be able to turn the key. If that wasn't the case you would've done it woth out the key and show us the steering wheel turning freely. But the morality speech is a cute way to explain away you needing to use the key. After all ita only 3 paper clips whats so labor intensive that you can't do it and show your work sir?
Yeahhh, except there is no steering wheel lock in the 99 to 06 chevy and gmc trucks and suv's. Like I mentioned also, I made a separate video on how to bypass the relays using paper clips. Thanks for commenting!
My man said “if you don’t care you can just yank it and it will work” boyyyy did you just save my ass I couldn’t move my rv for so long and you just got me back on the road thank you sir
Glad it helped! Safe travels!

Glad this helped you Gus! Bummer they screwed your truck up, thieves are the worst. Hope you get it all fixed up!
I'm legit. Bought a city impounded vehicle. Came without keys. Appreciate the help. We loaded with a payloader but now I'm trying to get off the trailer.
heck yeah, hope you get it moving!
Thank you so much sir you got me out of a jam! Youre the man! Love the mowhawk!
Heck yeah! That's why I made the video! Glad it helped!!

I've never come across a gmt800 truck or suv that has a steering wheel lock.
Awesome and thank you. Have an issue with my interlock system and this helps a ton!
Glad it helped!
Obviously a hot day with lots of bugs! Thanks for the video.
Yes it was! Hot or rain, still have to get things done, plus I like making videos for everybody.
Thank you! Had a buddies leaking truck in my drive way that he lost the keys to the other night.
No problem!
Do you know if the shift lock solenoid and switch are connected to brake switch wires lt green/what and green/black?
I'm not sure, sorry
Hey how do I disable the steering wheel lock of I don't have the key trying to move s 3/4 ton home
You have to pull the steering wheel off and remove the lock ring
This video really helped thanks a lot had a 1997 gmc safari dead battery locked shifter just had to move so it can make an easy tow….. thanks again and still didn’t have the right tools smh

Best video for a quick fix!!! Thank you and PeaceBeWithYou 🙏🏽
Thanks!
Excellent video Jason, thank you for taking the time to share. Love the bloopers at the end too :)
Glad you enjoyed the bloopers! Happy to share!
How about a Isuzu Hombre 1998 no battery lost key
Very possibly would work on that as well!
Going to try. Will this disengage a locked steering column?
It' won't disengage the column lock.
Thank you very much my 97GMC pickup Truck l am the owner am trying to work on it myself l don't know what am doing l know that I will succeed l am Determined .
Good luck!
It was a go Thank you very much.
Just take the linkage off the other side of the cable, that way you bypassed the shift interlock. Alot Easier To do

Hmmm. Wire an 18-20v tool battery, jump relays, pull cable… be driving cars at the junkyard in no time with the little fuel possibly left in lol
I have definitely seen that done. Most junkyard frown upon starting their engines though, at least the ones I've been to. lol
Video is apparently not for a 1987. :D
lol, no unfortunately it is not.
@@MohawkMotors oh well... that key's gotta be around here somewheres. thanks for the vids!

Let the criminals get caught and busted. I gotta take apart my whole GD steering wheel column to change my ignition switch.
I wish it was that simple! Unfortunately less than 10% of car thieves get caught.
So I got no ignition key so what the hell does this video do for me? Nothing
Did you watch the whole video? You don't need the key, just disconnect the shift cable from the bottom of the shift arm in the steering column. You can watch my other video on how to start the engine without a key and you're all set.
It's not to start dawg it's to put in neutral
Without the key .. stearing is locked....
I've never had one with a steering lock. I move them around my property using this method all the time.
