In this video, I react to a common ad you see online for mosquito killers. I break the ad down and show you why you should be wary of trusting these ads for these ingenues mosquito killer lamps.
This device is a scam and does not live up to the claims that the ads put out. It is marketed un many different name brands and they are constantly rebranding it with new ones. Here are the names I am aware of.

My pleasure. I was hoping that with the success of this video, that these scammers would pull this ad, but they have not. In fact, viewers have reported the ad playing on this very video. Talk about balls. There is a running theme in the comments of this video where viewers from around the world report in the latest it seems Oscar has been born in at least five countries so far. LOL!
Same ad (for "Buzz-B-Gone") in Australia says, "Taking Australia by storm" and "student in Melbourne", not Utah. 🙄
These companies must be making a lot of money with this ad.

Wow that's crazy cause I just got this ad too and it said Montreal instead. They are definitely targeting specific areas of the world and using the name of a city or state that you're in to give that sense of relatability and hoping that feeling will make you support "local"

Funny how the ad I watched had the same student, except that he’s from Montreal, not Utah. Needless to say, I just so happen to live a lot closer to Montreal than Utah. Must be his twin brother.
Last year his name was Franklin and was a different kid altogether. But he invited the same device and had the same rare allergy to mosquito bites. 😉

Lol! Yeah. I saw that lemon one too just the other day. I busted out laughing.
Great video lol. The real scam, tho, is TH-cam doesn’t let us share links to the ads, so that we can have a dialogue about what’s real, what’s not, report them, etc. Ridiculous and dangerous.
There is a way to report ads on TH-cam, but it is not easy and not effective. The reason TH-cam cannot give a share link is that the ads are not on TH-cam. The ads are served by Google Ads, and do not actually have an address where you can go to to just watch them. This is why I have to catch the ad and screen record it.
The real scam is the government and billionaires censoring us in general. Controlling communications. Otherwise we'd eventually wise up enough to organize and install a government that lets us democratically decide on issues, rather than choose between 2-3 rich people who throw different bones to special interest groups but who ensure the rich still run the planet.
I just saw this ad on youtube which prompted me to do a Google search for the product which brought me to this youtube video which showed me the ad again. I think I'm stuck in a matrix loop.

To add to the discussion, in another ad, the genius student is said to be from Montreal, Canada. Really a genius who graduated from different countries at the same time!

The add I saw said the guy's name is David. His daughter's eye was swollen shut, went to the ER, and turns out she was bitten over 38 times, all over her body. He used his already knowledge in the electronic business and reversed engineered a device to invent the 'BuzzBug'. 🙄😂🤣😂

I have not seen it, but others have told me about it and a couple other new ones. I really want to record these and do videos on them, but they are not being shown to me. I just saw the commercial for the first time and I literally said "bullshit, that's just pimples!".
Real stuff though, Alaskan mosquitoes are the size of infants and many people have allergies up here. I have seen people swell up like they were bee stings. Obviously that's why I am doing product review videos. Thank you for ordering things so I don't have to.
Yeah, you got some big ones up there. I've never been to Alaska, but I have been up to Inuvik, NWT in Canada. 100% DEET baby. That is the only thing that will sort of kind of stop them.
I'm one of those people who react poorly to mosquitos 😕 Each bite swells up to the size of a hive, and itches insanely. I've actually had to get prescription cream for my mosquito bites. Summer is my least favorite time of year. I'm deathly allergic to pollens (especially ragweed) and mosquitoes. Luckily, my husband takes our children on adventures so they aren't totally deprived of outdoor experiences.
In desperation, when I know I have to be outside, I avoid all sugar and carbs and have noticed between that, wearing long sleeves and pants, spraying the heck out of my clothes with deet, and wearing a hat with a netted veil, I look insane in the heat but it's better than having an allergic reaction.
@@lbatemon1158 I make repellent for my friends with sensitive skin. I have found that lotions work better than sprays for them. If you have a favorite lotion, you could likely add a small amount of eucalyptus oil to it and have some extra protection.

Got this ad randomly and I found it to be so hilarious. They even just say the dude is from Montreal in my ad instead of Utah. This "student" is Mr Worldwide I bet. lmao I wonder where else he's from.

Just saw another version with a farmer dad, whose daughter is allergic, and he just also happens to be an expert in pest eradication on top of farming, and he deep dove into light frequencies and engineered a product to end mosquitoes forever. People in comments are already talking about the other scam scenarios.
They have really bumped up the versions of this scam for 2024. There are more than a dozen variations from all over the world that commenters have told me about.
Thank you! You just saved me money!! They repackaged this for 2023 as the Electrizap and got me to actually watch the entire video but it just sounded too good to be true. So I looked for reviews and found your video which is identical for 2022 under another name. Hope others find this video.

ThermaCELL works? How long have you used it. Does it work for mosquitoes specifically?
@@nv7466 Only had a few opportunities to use it late last year (when I finally bought one); used it mostly on a mosquito infected beach, which means I have to coat myself head to toe in deet and they still get me. After 15 minutes of turning the Thermacell on, not a single mosquito (specifically) in range. I have never seen that in my life; Once they find me, they always come in greater numbers. I'm definitely sold to the Thermacell.
BONUS: Another thing that works: hunting clothing with scent-proof tech, but everything not covered still attracts them.
@@Flashahol thank you so much for the info! We have a pool in the back yard surrounded by trees, plants and bushes. They are so bad back there. We like to bbq and swim and relax out back but it's difficult when we get eaten. I'll try the ThermaCELL. Does it use sound waves or odors?
@@nv7466 It uses odors; it basically slowly burns a pad that you replace after X many hours. Check the range on it, I believe some models have a slightly larger effective range or it could be longer pad duration, not sure right now. Whatever it says on the box is pretty much what to expect other than you might need to change the pad a bit early to keep a large area mosquito free. Hope you'll enjoy!
Today I saw an ad for it. The voiceover said "buzzbug" but the text said "zaptek." I clicked on it and it was called a "zaptak."
They are coming up with new names faster than I can track. The latest one is BugBlast Pro.

Wow! Thanks for commenting. So, sorry that they have done this to you. I was hoping my video exposing them would cause them to stop running this ad. This video has been super successful, but they still are running the ad. I guess there are still enough people that are being fooled that it makes it worth their while. I hope eventually this video and others I have made about this product will end this nightmare for you. If I catch the new version of the ad, I will try to make another expose video this year. So far I have not seen the new ad.

It has not, but the bright side is that this video is getting over 34,000 views, which means that it has potentially saved 34,000 people from falling for this scam ad. Got an email an hour later offering me more discount saying they noted I was ordering and maybe I couldn't get through because they overloaded with orders.They offered me more discount and asked I don't share the discount with anyone. That prompted me to research the company and it led to you.....not ordering anything now from them.
I do wonder if you or anyone has a recommendation of a gadget that does something best within a 15 ft. radius outside. At least something that works for 80 % of those those little pests.
I am glad you got distracted. Always remember that if you feel that and ad is pressuring you to make a decision, you need to program your mind to send up red flag warning. This is a high pressure sales technique called "Appeal to their Greed". Don't fall for it.
I am sad to say that I have found no chemical free device that is effective against mosquitos. When I say effective, what I mean is,; does it reduce the population enough to make a difference. For example, if you have a thousands mosquitoes and it kills 500, that still leaves 500 to bite you. So, even though it has killed some, you are still gonna get bit just as much as if you had not used it at all. There some device that use chemicals that are effective at repelling mosquitoes form an area while the chemical is in effect. However, most people want a chemical free solution, and the only one that I know of actually works is a mosquito net.
@Nothin' But Gadgets lavender essential oil. I live in WI and a magnet. I'm allergic to the bite, and it keeps me indoors.
Two yrs ago I applied lavender essential oil to my entire body then got dressed. I not only went out, I went into a raspberry patch to pick berries. NOT ONE BITE! NOT ONE TERRORIST EVEN BUZZED THIS TOWER! I WAS 100% ASTONISHED! I haven't left my house since without covering head to toe without applying lavender oil since the first time.

In regards to light attracting nocturnal insects, here in the midweset we've been getting an increase of asian tiger mosquitos. These things don't care what time of day or night it is, could be 2pm and you'll still get eaten alive by them. I lit a citronella torch and they just swarmed around it rather than being repelled.
Correct! Mosquitoes are not nocturnal insects, and this is why they are not attracted to light. They will eat you any time of the day.

I think Oscar is a Triplet, because he has brothers by the same name in the US and Canada. That must have been one fast jet for his mother to fly to three different countries to deliver a set of triplets. 😂 😆

I bought it. I even searched for articles and reviews. Wish I would have found this video then! It kills bugs but they didn't send it with a brush and I haven't figured out how to get the dead bugs off. They say simple - empty the tray. I don't know what tray they are referring to but all the bugs are stuck in the grid. I really can't see taking a pair of tweezers and picking them all off. Also, it says the charge will last 12 hours on the mosquito killer but mine does not. It kills bugs but it doesn't seem like good quality and without a sustainable charge it doesn't help me with what I wanted it for. Wish I passed on it.

i got the ad today. was actually curious what the "inventor" is actually talking about and who he actually is
His real name is Easton and he is actually an inventor in prosthetics. The footage of him in the ad was stolen and is being used against his will without his authorization.
Utah in the add I seen they said he was from Montreal LoL
They having living all over the world, depending on which country the ad is shown in.
I only buy products at retail stores where I can return them if they do not work.

Try to get a refund. In most cases, they will give you a 75% refund and even let you keep the devices. They can do this because they are actually buying the device for around $4.50 from China.
In the ad for Australia they use a different guy who invented it and his name is Sam who’s a molecular biology student who secured $5m in investment. Lol, same story but different “inventor”.
Yeah, they had a different guy before Oscar too. Kind of a dumpy nerd looking guy wearing geek glasses. I can't remember what they called him. They change the Inventor every couple years, but the story remains pretty much the same pattern. It is used for several other scam products as well. I saw one about a month ago for a little plugin wall heater. Same story,
"Genius college student reverse engineers device to create a MIRACLE device that defies all laws of physics and can heat your home in five minutes and reduce your electrical bill by 75%."
I was unable to screen record the ad, so I could not do an Expose video on it.

Devices like this attract mosquitoes to where you are. I laugh when they set them up in their tents or close to where they are lol. Like hey mosquitoes we are right here, come get us!

Always wondered what it was. I think the green bottle is a cut off Mountain Dew bottle that they are mixing it in. Lol!
They just showed the video again. Instead of the yeast spooned into can, they show whole cloves being stuffed into half sliced lemons. Like it's supposed to mean something,but never explained. Total distraction. There used to be a way to report an ad in the TV app but no more.

I just saw this ad pop up on YT and recognized how scammy it was immediately, but I wanted to know more. Thanks for making this video (I missed it 8 months ago). The one I just watched is still using the 'BuzzBug' moniker but they've added that it has won a "International Innovation Award" for 2023. Of course, they didn't win shit and there's no record of it. I wonder who the guy in the video actually is?
Somewhere buried in the many comments on this video, one viewer claimed they knew who this young man is and gave his name. The comment was last year and I can't remember what they said his name was.
Read a top comment on this video that “Oscar” is actually a robotics engineer named Easton LaChappelle who made prosthetics arms.
