      Is there anything I can use that isn't a toxic mosquito coil?

      The only truly effective non-chemical solution for your situation is a mosquito net. I wish there was something else I could recommend, but unfortunately, I do not know if anything else. I lived in the tropics for 20 years and had malaria nine times, so I understand the struggle.

    Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, and appreciated your objectivity in assessing the device. I got sucked into the offer of mosquito killing lamps (dreading the upcoming onslaught of biters). I did find a dying mosquito beside another type of mosquito killer, but obviously mosquitos are not attracted to UV light. I should have checked the internet before purchasing. Thank you, again for your video!

    If the clock on your video is correct, it shows you may have turned it on 45 minute after dark. My experience is that mosquitoes are most active an hour before dark and then a short time after sun set I would be curious as to how it works if you set it out an hour before dark. If it's disintegrating mosquitoes how do you know if it is killing them or not. If I'm not mistaken it would be nice if you did a re-test.

    • @nothingbutgadgets
      @nothingbutgadgets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The clock on my video is not correct. I never set the clocks on my action cameras because there lose their settings everytime the battery is changed. It is just too much trouble to reset then each time.
      Regardless, mosquitos are not attracted to light, so it does not matter when the test was performed. I have done testing on many of these types of devices and they may attract some bugs, but none of them attract mosquitoes.

    How did you survive malaria 9 times? Please do a video about your knowledge 😊👍🏽

    • @nothingbutgadgets
      @nothingbutgadgets  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fortunately, Malaria is treatable, except for some drug resistant strains. However, treatment has a short window in which one must start in order to survive. Depending on the type and the health of the individual, a person could have as short as 10 days to several months from the onset of symptoms. However, with the Falciparum, which in rare cases can become cerebral, death can be very quick. I lost my dear friend and colleague a few years ago to cerebral Falciparum. He was a Malaria expert and had saved countless thousands of lives from Malaria in his career.

      @nothingbutgadgets  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delay in responding. A close family member was murdered two weeks ago and I have been out of it. I am still not all here.
      To answer your question. The original, and still the best cure for Malaria is Quinine. It is derived from the bark of the a tree. However, Quinine is extremely toxic to the liver in the high doses needed to cure Malaria, so it is only used as a last resort. Chloroquine is a synthetic drug to treat Malaria, but like Quinine, it too is toxic, but much less so. However, Chloroquine is only a partial treatment, as it only kills the Malaria plasmodiums outside of the red blood cells, and cannot get to the plasmodiums inside the red blood cells. So, additional medications are required such as Primaquine and antibiotics. There are many other drugs also, all with varying degrees of effectiveness against different strains of Malaria.
      I hope this helps.

    I have this same zapper and it does pretty well in a room environment where I don't want any bugs and it does occasionally kill a mosquito that just happens to wander into it's path. I do wish it had a way to disable the blue/UV light as I have no desire to kill any bug but mosquitoes but I also never plan to use it outside my house or room. I have seen a bug trap that uses a fan to trap mosquitoes in a little container and seemed kinda effective. I wonder how well this would work if you attached a small PC fan to pull mosquitoes in and disabled the blue light.

    Why didn't you just talk them to death? Talk about long winded!! The video could have been two minutes long.

      Since you are new TH-cam and long form content, let me help you out to learn the platform. TH-cam is a Long Form Content platform, it is not a short form content platform like Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. Because it is a long form content platform TH-cam provides a nice tool to help you out if you don't want to watch the entire video and just want to go tot the section you want to watch. Down at the bottom of the video, there is the little thing called a Progress Bar. It is an extremely tool you really need to learn how to use if you are going to watch TH-cam videos. Here is a video that will teach you all about it: th-cam.com/video/MY5ZHBNGL7M/w-d-xo.html
      This video has chapters that you can jump to and skip the parts you do not desire to watch. Learn how to use the Progress Bar Menu and your TH-cam viewing experience will dramatically improve.

      Okay, send me a real BuzzBGone and I will do an honest unbiased test in it and demonstrate the results.

      I admit it. I talk a lot. That's just me. But the thing about me is, you know I am not putting on a show trying to fake it. Just a normal guy here trying to be helpful.

      @@nothingbutgadgets Fair enough. Im still searching reviews because every review shows the results but all I am trying to learn is one thing. Will it help me sleep at night if I have mosquitoes in the room? Do you thing it would work well enough for a bedroom?

    • @nothingbutgadgets

      Unfortunately, it does not work on mosquitos because mosquitos are not attracted to light. A mosquito net is your best option.
