I like how he sounds so unsure of how to pronounce his own last name.
Also I'm ashamed how long it took me to realize that his celebrity camping guest was Dirk Gently. I'm sure he's probably known for other things in the U.K. but I'm from the U.S. and only know him from Dirk Gently. Or maybe that's a compliment to his acting in that series that I didn't immediately recognize him when he's not in character.

Okay, I get it. Richard is playing a character here. And he's putting together a lot of different technology that actually is not supposed to be used together. I have been an outdoorsman, camper, fisherman all of my 46 years. And to be honest with you some of this stuff actually looks cool. He's making it all look like stupid infomercial crap just because it's the character he plays. He plays a character that has a plethora of phobias. You understand that right? He downplays the actual legitimate benefits of some of these items because of the character he plays. That's all this is. Of course you shouldn't use the tent he used and the sleeping bag he used together. You would literally suffocate yourself doing that. I've been a fan of his, Richard's, up until now where he is just making actual good inventions look stupid because he is playing a character.

Fun to watch. Far from reality where amounts of energy needed to manufacture these gadgets is declining every day. Why not start thinking low tech and reduce reuse recycle instead of extract consume discard?
Recycling is expensive and takes a lot of energy, sometimes more than making new.

What makes me laugh about some of the gadgets on the show generally is that they would require some sort of electricity to use....hence often not great in a scenario you'd need them
