In my opinion, you two speak from the heart. You're not one of those youtubers that put on a show. You are not fake! I always enjoy watching your channel. Best wishes and much success.
Exactly...I don't understand why people always want to know how much something cost....personally I find it annoying....but I understand them wanting to share ...just don't share so much personal information ....
If you are doing a u tube channel people want to know all about the boat. How much you paid for it, what you are going to do to her etc etc. I find it interesting and informative and helpful to myself as to what too look for in buying a sail boat. Thanks for sharing you guy's. 😊👍😎
Clarke that's ignorant. What if someone wanted to understand the cost of doing this in case they were considering doing it. Also 50k for a boat that can't sail is a bad investment. You can actually get a functioning boat for that cost. If you publicize your action on a platform such as TH-cam you accept the fact that you will be criticized. Lol seriously go to yacht world you can buy a functioning 45 ft yacht for 60k with much less repair cost.
@@abshir9677 It might not be a steel boat that could have gone to Antarctica. Plus, that interior is amazing and beautiful! You need a lot of information in order to make that judgement. The people that are buying the boat and fixing that boat need to find the deal acceptable. Just tackling the repairs that you see in their videos takes fortitude and willingness that is more than money. I hope you enjoy as this wonderful couple do as well, I am sure!
20 years ago we (my brasilian wife and me) had a very similar experience: we bought a 57' ketch abandoned in a French yard. After almost two years of hard work we set sails with our 3 kids ,crossed the Atlantic and spent 3 years sailing on the brasilian coast, ending in Florida. So guys, the only advice: ENJOY you are on the right path
Well said! They warm the cockles of one's heart just listening to their dreams, expectations, honest appreciation of what they have, and their open and honest hearts.

Honoring your friend with your channel name left me somewhat misty eyed, what a lovely thing to do. I have always said that when I die the most flattering thing anyone could say about me is "he had good kids." You two are "good kids."
I just wanted to say, as a 79 year old, I have participated in many of your dreams and projects myself and thus can now relive much of my own past vicariously through you … I have been watching only a few days now and intend to spend a lot of future time catching up. A year or so ago I ran across "Sailing SV Delos" when they had already produced near 200 videos, needless to say I spent many hours catching up there also. Folks like you make my retirement years so much more enjoyable, THANKS!
Ignore the naysayers. Love your lives and chase your dreams. Millions of people wish they could do what you are doing, but due to fear or life circumstances, they cannot. Looking forward to seeing this story unfold. God bless.
Yes, they can sit without knowledge or experience criticising this whole idea. But it is clear from the comments of the people that have owned a few boats that this is a good idea. This is a world cruiser, that can take ice and coral in its stride and will in all likelihood keep the water on the correct side of the hull.
I really like the hull design also. I think it will handle blue water very well. As old as she is, the hull is in remarkably great shape and once she gets new paint, you won't ever believe she sat on the hard for 20 years. I think you bought a boat that is made for your plans.
Your channel is awesome. I wouldn’t spend too much time worrying about how other people think towards how you repair , wash or spend on the boat because it’s your baby , you two will be the ones spending time on the ship, keep following your hearts and enjoy it 👍 Keep up the good work
You are 2 honest people and are so transparent in your honesty, it is so refreshing to see this ,you don't have to account for yourselves your a pleasure to watch. You love your boat and are proud of your boat and so you should be , may you have many years sailing and may all your dreams come true.

Hi, a newbie here. I watch Sailing Uma and Salt & Tar. You are my new, regular channel to watch. I'm an old hombre, now 67, but 30 at hearth. You guys are fulfilling a dream I had all my life... sailing ! I'm a retire from a carreer in advertising design and project coordinator. I loved my job until it destroyed me from overwork. Deep burn-out, actually a depression for 4 years. My friend doctor told me find myself a new passion. Bingo ! I'll find myself a decent boat to refit andfinally go sailing !! Problem is, I did'nt have the money to start... Bummer. Ok, I'll wait till I may get my retirement benefits. Like 2 years ago at 65. Now I have back problems, sore anckles and a huge loss of energy. So, no more plans of refit and sailing MY boat. That's why I follow you young turks, full of dreams and ready for hard work to make those dreams alive and kicking ! I salute you both and will be waiting for a new episode of your life. Kisses from an ol' computer sailor ! Marc René 👍😘
When I look for something on TH-cam to watch, I look for someone who SHOULD get attention because they are real, good, hardworking people. As soon as I get MY house completed, I will be your next patron. You guys ROCK. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Great to see that you are honest about your financial situation. Yes, you have been lucky, but you invested in a friendship, and lost a dear friend. It sounds like you have your monies in place and you know what you want to achieve and a plan is in place. Roberta, can I suggest that you have more confidence in your language abilities! Your English is very good well done to you both.
It’s sad to lose a dear friend, indeed. He will be in our memories forever Thanks for the tips. I know I can be more confident, but I get nervous sometimes. I’m a shy person 😔
Agreed, there are no reasons for hesitation with her English ability. She speaks beautiful English and they both communicate very sincerely. Please keep it up.
@@OddLifeCrafting , It's so brave and generous to make the videos in English! You guys are amazing! Also, what a great deal on a fantastic, well built boat. Just discovered your project and I LOVE it!!!

This is one of the most compelling stories I have ever heard. Thank you for sharing, in detail. It truly makes a huge difference. I appreciate the details, they are often overlooked. I realize that I have a specific preference for the truth but in the end, without it you can't move the hearts of the masses. I wish you both continued fortune, in all aspects of life.

What a beautiful story and how wonderful that you honored the man who helped your dream come true by his gift when he sadly passed away. I think he's looking down at you and he's very proud of the man you've become. Thankyou for sharing this wonderful story.
You live your dreams and give us the privilege of sharing them. It is always a pleasure to see your smiles. And besides, we learn a lot of things ! Thanks to both of you :)
That’s what we can call living your dreams. I also used to sail on a french designer’s boat (Jeaneau 41) and I know how things can get old, broken, rusty and tired with age... Hope you’ll get the boat finished like you want it to be like. Focus on a good reliable engine, strong mast and quality rigging. So excited to see it floating on water and sailing in the breeze. I love the way TH-cam connects like minded people and that it enables projects like this, you two are doing such a great job, entertaining, friendly and so positive about life 👍❤👍 Don't let the detractors get to you, if they don't like what you do then they can go do their own project the way they want to. I'm seeing this a year later. Thank you for sharing what some people would consider private information. Most of us who ask are not being "nosey," but are genuinely curious what it would cost to do something like this. You two are on an amazing adventure, and it's so cool that you can get into something like that, fully restored, for a price less than what an old entry-level used house costs here in many parts of the United States. May you get many amazing years out of that boat!
Love the video. I bought my boat 21 years ago. She was a wreck. Every year I upgraded her and now she is my pride and joy. Enjoy the process. Sorry about your friend.
Just watched this what a lovely story. Now I know why you were so emotional when you splashed. Keep up the great work and all your dreams will come true. Odd is looking down at you both and he must be so proud of what you’ve done. Steve
Duca & Roberta it is refreshing to see real emotion on TH-cam and honesty , this will be one hell of a ride we are going to take with you I for one cannot wait 😎👍
Thank you for being so straight forward and honest about the purchase of your boat. So refreshing to see this on social media. Good luck to you on your future plans.
Honest and authentic channel! Really like the approach you take for your projects, i'm sure that we will have hours of interesting content in the coming years from you guys. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Belgium!
We love watching both of you guys. We got our new/old boat last year. We love her. We have a 83 Irwin 38 ft . We had another sailboat, a 34 ft. Bruce Roberts. We lost her in Hurricane Irma, in Key West. I lived on that boat for 17 years. We lost everything, but we are still alive.
I think you did very well on the purchase. The boat is so nice inside and looks to have stood the test of time very well. Congratulations and good luck with the refit!
you guys are truly rare and honest. well done so far and keep it up.. were loving your story and even how much in love you both are.. truly honest people.
I am so thrilled to see the two of you, and see that you are living your dream. Yes you are putting in much work, but this puts youre souls into the boat and house. You are living my dream, may only fair winds bless you, and when foul winds occur both of you will be so well prepared to weather them for you have each other. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
Your timing is perfect as the trend now on TH-cam is more on the sailing lifestyle than the tiny home lifestyle. Either way, the inheritance and financial gifts are a confirmation for you both that you are on the right path. God bless you in all of your adventures. And Ciao from Italy. :-)
I love how you explain your reasons why you decided to buy this boat and your past experiences. Even though its always your decision to do as you please. I enjoy watching you both on your journey. Its a big task but I believe when you are done this boat will have a new life on the open ocean and its going to be BEAUTIFUL !! Love the interior design and the wood work is very impressive. Good luck on your endeavors !!!
I think you are right on the money with this. Even an interior like that would cost $50,000 if you were staring with a hull. Then $30,000 for spars and rigging. Also this is going to look amazing inside when you polish that interior timber. What a lovely story about Mr Odd. I have a similar memory of a big hearted guy who helped me get a job.
Just stumbled upon your site. After hearing your story I picked myself up and smiled. I’m 72 and due to health reasons have had to abandon my dream of building a small sailboat. Anyway, you have really encouraged me and lifted my spirits with your enthusiasm and obvious hard work. I probably will never get to live out my dream but I can live it through you and your adventures. Thank you, thank you. You’re truly blessed.
I'm sure some people will be shocked that the boat cost 50k USD, but you've got remember this is not Europe or the Caribbean where boats are relatively cheap and this is a steel boat which will cost far less to maintain in the long term compared with a fibreglass hull. Thanks for another video guys, can't wait for the next update. Fingers crossed for the engine.
The moment I saw how beautiful the interior was, I realised that the outside was a jewel under all those years of grime. It is already showing its charm. I can hardly wait to seed your progress!
To me you two are one of the best stories on TH-cam. Thanks for this video about how you got here with the boat and will look forward to following your dream.
you guys got a GREAT DEAL on buying the boat ... do not let anyone to tell you any different .. people do not realize how things are different in different countries and buying things especially with the taxes in Brazil are not as easy as other countries ... the basic boat could not be BETTER . you can go anywhere in the world with your boat when it is all fixed up .. so the boat is totally solid to work from .. YOU GUY ARE GREAT .. and are living the DREAM ... do not let the doubters get to you ... YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING 1000's only can dream of .. including me
Imagine how much time effort and expense went into that boat and then you can begin to understand. For the owner it is not just getting a certain amount of money. it is also about releasing a portion of their own dream into the hands and imaginations of others who can shepherd the boat and a new dream. sometimes it works out well. I think that this time it will!
I agreee with NewBeRVer.... .. I am not much for sailing, BUT I have really enjoyed watching your videos. Keep it up. I can't wait to see your sail boat finished. You guys are great !!!!
Odd sounds like the kind of guy that really planned ahead. He knew where he was going and bought the best possible boat. Clearly, it's held up very well. I think he was lucky to find you two to restore, repair and refurbish and take care of this boat. Best of luck to you both.
Wow I have not subscribed for long, but it's obvious from the emotion in your eyes that this project and way of life means everything to you! Don't fret too much or feel the need to rationalize every penny to your audience. Go and get what you want outta life....Cheers
Good to see you've done all the researchers before buying that boat and also the owner to take you two through the pros and cons. Big lesson in life and really looking forward seeing you two achieved what you wish for with the boat. Good luck and God Bless you both.
God Bless you two! You should never have to justify or explain your finances. I wish I could have been as brave and as adventurous as you guys! But thank you for sharing your personal victory with me. I wish you fair winds and a good life!
Wow, you two are wonderful, I love the fact that your dads old friend had 18 of your family and friends as interns, you all must have made a great impression on him. I’m glad that you have named your channel after him, maybe you could somehow incorporate his name into the name of your boat!! Love the videos and your work ethics, much respect ✊
When I first saw the boat, I thought you would only need two tools to fix it --- a barrel of gasoline and a match. But six months later it is looking beautiful. Congratulations.
I follow allot of sailboat families on TH-cam but none of them are as honest and enthusiastic as you two are ! I am now a new subscriber and I am binge watching your videos ! Loved the story about Odd and I am looking forward to your next video ...
It is sweet of you to explain, i appreciate it. That said you can do as you wish we watchers just like to see the progress and listen to the stories. Thank you
I agree with many other comments here: do not pay much attention to those arm-chair sailors who have nothing but negative thoughts. You took advantage of a good opportunity and went into this project with both eyes open about the risks and the benefits! ODD would be so proud of you both! Kind regards.
There's a big difference between being lucky and being fortunate, you guys are fortunate and we are too because you share your fortunes with us. Thanks
i have been around boats all my life , wood , fiberglass , steel , and even cement . from the get go you showed us the true integrity of of the boat . some flaws yes but for a boat that sat in dry dock for over a dozen years ... wow !! the inside is incredible !! as for the exterior .. the troubles you encountered were minimal for the wear and tear of a dozen years of abuse and no upkeep other than starting the engine once in a blue moon ! keep up the great work and i must say that both of you are really enjoyable to listen to with the knowledge and the lack of knowledge that you fully admit to ( rare in this day and age ) !thank you !!
I can only assume you've taken some criticism if you feel the need to justify your reasons for buying the boat. I've said it before but this boat is a beauty and now you've revealed the price I'm doubly jealous!! It's a great price for such a solid boat and the nay sayers can eat their words when you have this magnificent boat back on the water. Good luck and thank you for your amazing honesty and openness. 😉
Kids, you are something! You truly deserve all good that is happening to you and much more. Roberta is a sweetheart and hey Duca, you remind me of my grandson! All the best! Vovô.

What an incredible story about the legacy that was left to you and the 17 others by your Fathers friend. You could do an entire episode about him and everything he did for you all.
Thank you so much for the best wishes.
Love the video. I bought my boat 21 years ago. She was a wreck. Every year I upgraded her and now she is my pride and joy. Enjoy the process.
Sorry about your friend.
☺️😍⛵️💕
Just watched this what a lovely story. Now I know why you were so emotional when you splashed. Keep up the great work and all your dreams will come true. Odd is looking down at you both and he must be so proud of what you’ve done. Steve
💕
Duca & Roberta it is refreshing to see real emotion on TH-cam and honesty , this will be one hell of a ride we are going to take with you I for one cannot wait 😎👍
😊💕
Thank you for being so open and honest about how financially this has all come about. Yall seem like such good people, it's why I watch.
Thanks so much. Glad you are enjoying my friend. 😊😊
Thank you for being so straight forward and honest about the purchase of your boat. So refreshing to see this on social media. Good luck to you on your future plans.
💕💕 thanks
I knew that boat wasn't cheap when i saw the interior during your first videos! Can't wait for the finished product.!
It’s actually cheap for Brazilian price. With this amount of money in Brazil we couldn’t get a better deal
It has hallberg Rassy looks inside also! They make awesome boats in Sweden .
You are authentic people. Your sincerity and kindness comes through in every video. Blessings on you both in your adventures.
💕💕 thanks a lot, Peter
Don't ever lose your dream. You have a great plan, stick to it. Looking forward to the Monday videos. Best regards, George & Debby
Thanks s much guys!!😊😊
Honest and authentic channel! Really like the approach you take for your projects, i'm sure that we will have hours of interesting content in the coming years from you guys. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Belgium!
Thanks so much Alexis!! Glad to have you on board My friend!!😊😊
Sorry to hear that you have lost everything, including your lovely boat. Glad you got another boat and you are in love with her. 💕
I think you did very well on the purchase. The boat is so nice inside and looks to have stood the test of time very well. Congratulations and good luck with the refit!
😍⛵️💕🍀
You two are very genuine, enthusiastic and enjoyable to watch. I am a new subscriber. I wish you the best of luck!
Welcome to our channel, Dave 💕
you guys are truly rare and honest. well done so far and keep it up.. were loving your story and even how much in love you both are.. truly honest people.
💕💕
I am so thrilled to see the two of you, and see that you are living your dream. Yes you are putting in much work, but this puts youre souls into the boat and house. You are living my dream, may only fair winds bless you, and when foul winds occur both of you will be so well prepared to weather them for you have each other. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
💕💕💕
Your timing is perfect as the trend now on TH-cam is more on the sailing lifestyle than the tiny home lifestyle. Either way, the inheritance and financial gifts are a confirmation for you both that you are on the right path. God bless you in all of your adventures. And Ciao from Italy. :-)
👋 from Brazil. 👍⛵💕
😍⛵👫🌏💕
I think you are right on the money with this. Even an interior like that would cost $50,000 if you were staring with a hull. Then $30,000 for spars and rigging. Also this is going to look amazing inside when you polish that interior timber. What a lovely story about Mr Odd. I have a similar memory of a big hearted guy who helped me get a job.
😍⛵️💕💕
Godspeed guys, fair winds and following seas
⛵⛵💕
Just stumbled upon your site. After hearing your story I picked myself up and smiled.
I’m 72 and due to health reasons have had to abandon my dream of building a small sailboat. Anyway, you have really encouraged me and lifted my spirits with your enthusiasm and obvious hard work. I probably will never get to live out my dream but I can live it through you and your adventures. Thank you, thank you. You’re truly blessed.
Thanks for the kind words, Chris. We are glad to hear that you like our channel and that we encourage you and make you happy 💕💕💕
Dude, you have a follower till the end. You do your friend a honor naming your channel after him and you have my respect.
😊⛵🌏💕
Found myself smiling all the way through this video. Well done you guys, and good luck for the future!
😁 thanks for the feedback and for the support, Stuart
You guys are so lucky to be basically given this boat with all the extras it has .
You are right Alex. Prices in Brazil are much higher than in other places and also not many options to buy unfortunately. 😢🤞🏼🍀
The moment I saw how beautiful the interior was, I realised that the outside was a jewel under all those years of grime. It is already showing its charm. I can hardly wait to seed your progress!
@@scenefromabove pretty amazing, isn't it? it's like 2 different boats.
Bumfuzzle bought a similar boat a few years ago for $80K USD. I think that 50K USD for that boat is a good price.
Blah blah.....you never buy any boat unless you can FLOAT on it first. Ever.
To me you two are one of the best stories on TH-cam. Thanks for this video about how you got here with the boat and will look forward to following your dream.
Thanks a lot. Glad you like our content.💕
you guys got a GREAT DEAL on buying the boat ... do not let anyone to tell you any different .. people do not realize how things are different in different countries and buying things especially with the taxes in Brazil are not as easy as other countries ... the basic boat could not be BETTER . you can go anywhere in the world with your boat when it is all fixed up .. so the boat is totally solid to work from .. YOU GUY ARE GREAT .. and are living the DREAM ... do not let the doubters get to you ... YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING 1000's only can dream of .. including me
⛵️💕
The two of you are a great young couple, keep following your dreams because that's the only way too achieve them.
👫💕
That"s awesome to see the past owner took his time with you guys, then just dumping a boat on someone!!
💕 until today he gives us tips for the refitting
Imagine how much time effort and expense went into that boat and then you can begin to understand. For the owner it is not just getting a certain amount of money. it is also about releasing a portion of their own dream into the hands and imaginations of others who can shepherd the boat and a new dream. sometimes it works out well. I think that this time it will!
💕💕💕
I actually love your channel. It's so real. You're both so open. It's so refreshing. Great channel
👫💕
You are 2 lovely and incredible people. Fair winds from Alberta, Canada. Don’t ever listen to the negative Nellies out there, just follow your dreams.
☺️💕💕
I agreee with NewBeRVer.... .. I am not much for sailing, BUT I have really enjoyed watching your videos. Keep it up. I can't wait to see your sail boat finished. You guys are great !!!!
💕💕
Odd sounds like the kind of guy that really planned ahead. He knew where he was going and bought the best possible boat. Clearly, it's held up very well. I think he was lucky to find you two to restore, repair and refurbish and take care of this boat. Best of luck to you both.
💕🍀👫
Thanks for videos. Very authentic couple. I wish you the best.
💕💕
Wow I have not subscribed for long, but it's obvious from the emotion in your eyes that this project and way of life means everything to you! Don't fret too much or feel the need to rationalize every penny to your audience. Go and get what you want outta life....Cheers
😊💕
Good to see you've done all the researchers before buying that boat and also the owner to take you two through the pros and cons. Big lesson in life and really looking forward seeing you two achieved what you wish for with the boat. Good luck and God Bless you both.
💕💕💕
God Bless you two! You should never have to justify or explain your finances. I wish I could have been as brave and as adventurous as you guys! But thank you for sharing your personal victory with me. I wish you fair winds and a good life!
⛵️👫🌎
Congratulations! What a heartwarming story! Can't wait to see you sailing and thank you for sharing!
💕💕⛵️🌎
Wow, you two are wonderful, I love the fact that your dads old friend had 18 of your family and friends as interns, you all must have made a great impression on him. I’m glad that you have named your channel after him, maybe you could somehow incorporate his name into the name of your boat!! Love the videos and your work ethics, much respect ✊
When I first saw the boat, I thought you would only need two tools to fix it --- a barrel of gasoline and a match. But six months later it is looking beautiful. Congratulations.
The boat was a diamond hidden under the dirty. hehe
I love it! Your honesty and heart are in your projects! Best of luck and fair winds ahead.
💕💕
I follow allot of sailboat families on TH-cam but none of them are as honest and enthusiastic as you two are ! I am now a new subscriber and I am binge watching your videos ! Loved the story about Odd and I am looking forward to your next video ...
Welcome to our channel, Mitch 💕
4:30 to find out how much they spent.
Not all heroes wear capes
Thanks
It is sweet of you to explain, i appreciate it. That said you can do as you wish we watchers just like to see the progress and listen to the stories.
Thank you
👫🌏⛵📽
Hello from Ukraine. I am building a F39 trimaran from scratch, sharing with you the hard work. You guys are great!
It's cool. Good luck on your project. Thanks for the support, Nicola
Congrats on the boat.
I imagine the former owner of the boat is happy to see the love you are putting on it.
Good winds and success!
☺️😍⛵️💕
You guys totally rock. Wish you all the best!
👫👍🏻💕
I agree with many other comments here: do not pay much attention to those arm-chair sailors who have nothing but negative thoughts. You took advantage of a good opportunity and went into this project with both eyes open about the risks and the benefits! ODD would be so proud of you both! Kind regards.
💕💕
What a lovely couple, keep up the good work, and love each other.
👫💕💕
I look forward to the videos. Great to know that your inheritance was put to good use. It sounds like Mr. Odd was a generous man.
Indeed, he was. 💕
There's a big difference between being lucky and being fortunate, you guys are fortunate and we are too because you share your fortunes with us. Thanks
☺️👫💕
You are an amazing talented energetic couple. I so enjoy watching your journey. Best of everything to you!
Thanks, Jan
You guys are Brilliant! A powerful example of manifestation... where Dreams meet Action. Wow!
☺️💕💕
i have been around boats all my life , wood , fiberglass , steel , and even cement . from the get go you showed us the true integrity of of the boat . some flaws yes but for a boat that sat in dry dock for over a dozen years ... wow !! the inside is incredible !! as for the exterior .. the troubles you encountered were minimal for the wear and tear of a dozen years of abuse and no upkeep other than starting the engine once in a blue moon ! keep up the great work and i must say that both of you are really enjoyable to listen to with the knowledge and the lack of knowledge that you fully admit to ( rare in this day and age ) !thank you !!
Duca's grandfather already build a concrete boat back in the days, 20 years ago, hehe. Thanks for the kind words.
Thanks so much fot the support Jason!!😊😍
The "Odd" story is amazing
Congratulations, and good luck
☺️💕
Nice to see someone living the dream and being honest about everything.. looking forward to the results... keep up the good work
☺️⛵️🌎💕

Thanks a lot my friend!!😊😊👌🏼
An amazing story... looking forward to following your adventures!
💕👫💕
Sounds like a great deal. Thanks for inviting us along on this latest adventure.

Que história legal. Excelente nome para o barco. Nada mais justo. Parabéns. Deus abençoe!
🥰
The Dinieper Tropic 1200 is a phenomenally well-built boat. You got a great deal.
💕😍⛵
Kids, you are something! You truly deserve all good that is happening to you and much more. Roberta is a sweetheart and hey Duca, you remind me of my grandson! All the best! Vovô.
Hi, grandpa! 💕
Obrigada pelas palavras, Marcelo 💕
Love your enthusiasm wishing you joy and happiness.
☺️👫💕
What an incredible story about the legacy that was left to you and the 17 others by your Fathers friend. You could do an entire episode about him and everything he did for you all.
You have both been blessed and it's clear that you are grateful for everything that you are receiving. Keep living that authentic life, sharing your story, and I'm sure your journey will just get better & better ☺️ Blessings 🙏🏻
☺️💕💕
