    Thank you, Lady Trill. I learned more from your vid, and especially you taking the time to answer questions in the comment section, than the last 45 minutes of reviewing "Merchant" vlogs where I basically learned what scrambled eggs, and how each seaman's cabin looks. So, after getting the 4 requirements, I don't need to attend a school, rather get hired by SIU or MSC and let them take care of it.

    This video is fantastic! I appreciate you speaking about making it happen for yourself in a male dominated field. More women need reassurance like this.     I was with MSC for 11 years. SIU is a great deal. More money and you make your own schedule. I wish I started 11 years ago. I will say though MSC was a great stepping stone and experience.

      MSC would be the way id go. Better ships and training, government pension and medical. Good government backing better work ethic.

      @@comm2531 The training is the same in standards around the maritime. Government Pension is cool. You can better off getting a vanguard account. medical is great. Government doesn’t really back it’s folks. That’s the union job. Work ethic 😆 remember it’s a GOVERNMENT JOB!!!! You’ll see.
      However, MSC is a great stepping stone shipping company. You will need to get experience somewhere if you never sailed.

      @@misterceo2168 Not Tru. I was an A/B in MSC. I make 40% more here in SIU specially on the ship I’m on now. I’m very willing to show my paystubs. I’m making 11k a month consistent on the tanker I’m on now. Now, as far as retirement please READ the fine print on the Government retirement plans (FERS). You will be better off getting a separate retirement plan that’s what I did.
      Also who wants only one month off and don’t have control over there schedule and time. Don’t get me started about be relieved on time. I don’t have those problems anymore now I’m sailing Union.
      It depends on the individual situation whether to join MSC or to join the Union. Earlier in my sailing career MSC was a great choice, now later in my sailing career SIU is the best choice for my situation.

      @@Sijuwade that’s my point. Later in career siu but right out of the gate msc is better and more money. The union send those folks to training and pay them $25 a week, msc you make a nice chunk in training, siu is greedy Italians

    So you didn’t go through any courses? Just purchased your TWIC card, passport & the MMC, and started working? Cause they’re courses in my state for 1600 but I want to make sure I’ll be paying for what I actually need to get started.

      Yes the company you choose rather it’s siu or msc they will put you through the basic training courses ! ... just get your credentials and apply . Those courses that are 1600 2000$ , are for ppl who have been through the courses before and maybe quit for a while and need a refresher or they want to work on tug boats or something like that ... DO NOT PAY FOR THE SCHOOL

    I’m waiting on msc entry positions to open up. I already have all the documents. It took me 6 weeks to get my mmc I had to get a notarized letter with the oath. Is 30 too old to be sailing??? I’m so ready to have my sister watch the dog and watch my house

    Can you do a video on what to pack? I'm worried about underpacking especially right now with the pandemic. Are people allowed to get off the ship?

      Yes and no , it’s weird rn ... some ships can get off and others can’t .. but even if you can’t get off the ship their will be away for you to get w.e personal items you need .. but yes I will try to do a video on what to pack ... I personally like to use the vacuum stealer bags so I can pack more ...

    I’m in the Navy, and I’m about to get out. Do you think I higher chance of getting this job. I keep hearing a lot of good things about it! I’ve never been deployed in the Navy one thing I am just worried about how long the “deployments” are usually? I also have a security clearance.

      You will definitely have a good chance. All we do we stay on the water with msc , to be honest . And the contract is for 4 months at a time then you put In for a relief, you can expect to be on a ship for 5-6 months

    It’s good to know that this was done 2 months ago while the pandemic was going on. That goes to show us MSC is not affected financially by that nonsense. Thank God for those awesome friends who told us about MSC.

      MSC is the primary supply chain for the US Navy. It will always need people regardless of what happens in the world. The military as a whole never stops.

      @@jforester7 check out videos on it man. Bigger rooms where you don’t need to share. The basic isn’t as rigorous. There are young and old people in there. People who stick around for years. Way better food. If you don’t like a certain ship you can be out in four months vs. the Navy’s 4 year term. I gotta make more than what I’m doing in the civilian sector right now. This seems to be the way out.

    Hi I'm new to watching your video I appreciate them from a women to women point of view. A couple of years ago my youngest son went to sea lift command MSC and he got out after a year it just was not for him. But I have a total different out look about it was are some tips on a older women wanting to join speaking of my self I'm fresh out of college has a AA degree in Culinary Art's and yes I would love to apply for a chef position I have a good portion of my health thank God probably need to add more extra excersise in my life but I can do that all my kids are grown on their own I have nothing but time on my hand I just want to have a long extended career in the food service industry I'm looking at the steward cook position I just dkn about how strick they are on age
    Lol once I get in I have no doubt that with my cooking skills 9 out of ten they will love will love it not bragging but I can cooking I am a chef by trade but more I have the experience what do you think and by the way I am 61 years of age Black African American Women most people say I dont look like it tho.

      Hi Keva , I think you would fit In perfectly. My last ship I worked with an older woman who couldn’t even walk up the stairs, she had to always use the elevator lol .. so age is not a problem at all .. I would recommend applying for the cook position like you said. Or even applying for
      Entry level just to get your foot in the door then move over to cook once In !

      What do you mean ? You will never take cash from the captain .. everything money related is done through the purser. You can take draws from your pay check and get cash money but other than that your check will go to your bank

      Definitely can remain feminine!!! You don’t have to be enlisted In the military no ... the rotation schedule is suppose to be 4 months then one month home .. but fr they keep u out here bout 5-6 months then except u to come back after one month home .. I stay home atleast 3 months when I take vacation

      The best thing for you to do is to go on MSC website and find a job that your interested in and read the qualifications .. I’m sure since you were In the military already and have a degree that they will find a place for you !

      ive contacted S.I.U and they told me citizenship is not required

      With SIU is no necessary because they have contracts with companies that doesn’t require citizenship but also the have contract with companies that does require to be a us citizen
      With MSC Is different because the have contract with the navy so is mandatory to be a US citizen

      You will start to see status updates on your application when it’s under review

    i got temporarily disqualified from the navy at meps because of high blood sugar levels but I'm thinking about doing this was thinking the navy reserve and this as well

      Your blood sugar needs to be relatively controlled for MSC as well. They require an A1C of 8.0 or less

      You can skip it if your applying to MSC as entry level or Siu apprentice program . They will give u the class for free

    If I got a full time job making 17.76 good benefit do you recommend that that I go I knw it’s my life my choice but just tryna see is the job stable like how long do you have to wait on contracts do they lay off a lot I want a stable career ion wanna leave that job 17.76 make dnt sound like much to sum ppl but I’m in Louisiana were the minimum wage it 7.25

      @@sillyrabbit8212 I’m am SU it’s basically house keeping duties . Wiper is in the engine department, they fix things like toilets . OS is deck work , painting , chipping and other things

      Once you apply to MSC they will give you training for free. I did not have to do any prior training to get my MMC.
