Matt, I think this coupe would look much better getting a full paint job like the FREE T did, new interior etc and painted in this colour with the racing numbers and letters repainted on the side. It’s great to see you bring cars back to life.
An absolute testimony to the durability of nitrocellulose lacquer. The manufacturers thought it was fragile. ha!! Beautiful patina Matt! Your work nourishes the soul of an aging " rodder".
Matt, you're like an archeologist carefully working to find a hidden gem underneath. The green suits the 32 for sure. I inherited my Grandmother's 70 year old China hutch almost 30 years ago and it had been sitting near her coal burning heater for years. It appeared to be made of cherry and I decided to see if I could bring back the Lustre of the wood so I bought some Homer Formsby furniture restorer and started on the side with some 4 ought steel wool. Somebody had placed a coat of varnish on the piece and after about 20 hours of work I discovered the hutch was made with tiger eye oak. Now about once a year I put on a thin coat of wood preservative and the piece is beautiful. Nice work Matt.
Matt the green really makes the car pop, the steering wheel matches really good. Elbow grease and hard work makes a difference. Thanks for sharing. Kevin
Fantastic! When you get it where you want it, some clear coat over all would make the patina really pop. Give it some "intent". So satisfying to get rid of the cracked windscreen. Thanks for the fun.
Such a difference, so much better. Reminds me of the petrol tank on my old 1950's Triumph motorcycle. I took off the brushed on black enamel and it was orange underneath, then purple under that and finally blue and white under that. It's now repainted blue and white.
I was born in 1950 and that 1956 Mercury you showed happens to be my favorite all-time 50's car. We grew up with a 1956 Mercury Monarch here in Canada and it was Coral and white.
It is freakin awesome!! Love the green paint, especially with the numbers on the doors, please keep them!! I guess the tarp trapped moisture where it touched the body and made it more rustier.
wow! that was a lot of work, but it really paid off in spades. it was an eye catcher in it's day for sure. someone truly loved this rod, and i'll bet she's feeling fine after the love you're showing her now. 'bout brings a tear to my eye.
Thank you , Matt for update on the 32 ! The paint color look nice and vintage ! I like it ! Take care , stay safe and healthy with whatever you maybe doing next ! Doing well here in Kansas .
I am not a car guy; but I love watching competent people do their craft. I also history and the way you try to preserve it on these cars is fantastic. Thank you!
Wow, what a great way to bring back the nostalgia of a car, you've revealed a perfect time capsule and I think it looks amazing, great job and I love the idea of blending the new work with the old to keep it looking like it should, hat tip to you Matt, can't wait to see more progress on this one
You've given the coupe a lift by revealing that green,DD's speedshop- Mur - on the tri five s/w polishing to pull the paint colour tone, springs to mind.Keep the engine block dark green also.
Watching your builds makes me excited to get started on prewar cars !! I’ve always been a 50s car and truck guy but I got a 32 Ford roller and can’t wait to get building it !!
I love it for now anyway, it deserves a real nice paint job in it`s future but it is cool looking to cruise down the road for a while. I can only imagine how nice this car looked when that green paint job was fresh, this car is going to be so much fun to have road ready and enjoy, nice to see what was under the black primmer, good work Matt.
Car looks awesome 👌 maybe somebody can identify the history of the car before larry had it from the green paint and lettering ? Gonna be a killer car well done matt
I probably wouldn't pick that color out as my 1st choice to paint it but it sure looks good as it is. Paint colors can be tricky. I actually watched this video because the green car caught my eye. That's some kind of magical paint !
What a transformation. Glad to see the old screen gone. It now looks like it is ready to hit the road. Some Eastwood rust inhibitor and the body will be just about done. (If Only.)
I can't imagine how much it would cost to replicate that beautiful patina. I love the hidden surprises on the doors. She will also look sweet when restored in that color.
So many cool colors came out in the 50's and 60's. This was the beginning of dare to be different. The green is definitely an eye catcher. I will quote a line from American Graffiti. " Is that a cross between piss yellow and puke green? LOL!! All in all I still think the color is way cool. Nice technique to bring the paint back. Car is going to be radical!!!!!
Hi Matt! beautiful green that has emerged from the body! The steering wheel is just a color that is similar and looks really good. Oh,🤔this time the temptation to do a restoration of the bodywork (with the same green color and the number on the door of course) but I also understand wanting to leave it with "war wounds" However, it is a project that is progressing very well!👍
Hey Matt & Kate I am not into the old rusty patina on many Rat Rods but that process you did gave the coupe an interesting look. AND ! I am SO glad to see that NASTY old windshield out of the car and kudos to ya on the chrome windshield frame score. That happened at exactly the right time for the body treatment. Now if you would if not replace, at least clean that rear window. The coupe is coming along slow but steady and that seems to be a good thing. Thank you for showing us the progess. Play and Work Safe Be Well
Hi Matt I would really like to see it done up as back in the day Nice green paint and interior as Larry had it Just put it back to we’re he had it and drive it to events to show people an original old hot rod 👍👍
Amazin look now ,its showin it's memories back in it's glory days,, Matt so thankfull that guys like u are wanting to take time an letting it speak too u an it's going thru it's metamorphose.phase again..Killer looks ..I think Kate an Moon aprove..😎😎😎😎😎
It just went from “l know what it is but man is it rough” to “what a cool old ‘32 coupe!”. That windshield just looked like death warmed over. Glad it made an exit.
Love the green paint that was underneath. Maybe you can get some grove green mixed into a spray can and when patching rust or on the surface rusty parts dust that green on there and then distress it to match the old stuff. Man that old color character will look great! A lot of hand work but a nice result.
Looks Rad, will be great to see it "polished up" once you've blended your rust repairs... I rub my rusty gold down with a product called Gibbs comes up real neat...
This looks sooo cooll! Wow, I would Just finish the repairs and shoot it with clear coat. However, that is just my opinion, I'm sure whatever plans you may have will come out great. After all it is your Rod. Now I have shared a few child hood memories with you, here is one more that I shared with my wife yesterday as we were watching this episode. I have a brother 10 years my senior. When I was about 6 or seven( 1960-61) I got a peddle car tractor with a trailer for my birthday. My Dad was painting the house. My brothers friend took the paint brush and wrote A/G on the side of the tractor.. Ha!
The Green looks awsome 👌🏼It gives the car so much more character
everything is black , green gives it character 🤠
" YES " LOOKS GR88T !!! @ ... .. .
So good looking!
Amazing on how the steering wheel is about the same color green as the old patina on the body.
I had the same thought! Yeah that was a happy coincidence!
Here is another one☝🙃😊
It's looking pretty cool with that shifter knob poking out behind the chrome windshield frame!
Matt, you're like an archeologist carefully working to find a hidden gem underneath. The green suits the 32 for sure. I inherited my Grandmother's 70 year old China hutch almost 30 years ago and it had been sitting near her coal burning heater for years. Now about once a year I put on a thin coat of wood preservative and the piece is beautiful. Nice work Matt.
Wow what a beautiful piece of furniture that must be!
Matt & Kate, I'm not a "green" person, so right away I thought no way, but....with the story & history of the car....it works!! God Bless!!
Matt the green really makes the car pop, the steering wheel matches really good. Elbow grease and hard work makes a difference. Thanks for sharing. Kevin
Ford also called that Sportsman Green , it was used on the Ford Crestliner .
Looks awesome leave it that way patina looks good
Best paint scheme ever. 👍👍😎👍👍
Looks great!
I’m usually the last guy to say paint it but that colour is great on that car and would be fantastic all painted up.
Love the new/old look!👍🏁
You have way more patience than me on a project like this, but it is so worth the effort in the end, such a cool look!
Love the patina, it tells a story that respraying covers up, looking good !
Fantastic! When you get it where you want it, some clear coat over all would make the patina really pop. Give it some "intent". So satisfying to get rid of the cracked windscreen. Thanks for the fun.
Nice to see Kate make a guest appearance that was a nice surprise bringing back the OG paint on the car!!!!!
Such a difference, so much better. Reminds me of the petrol tank on my old 1950's Triumph motorcycle. I took off the brushed on black enamel and it was orange underneath, then purple under that and finally blue and white under that. It's now repainted blue and white.
Clear coat and done,,, looks great 🤟
Give the ole' girl a proper paint job. She deserves to be a prom queen once again. IMHO...not enough left to salvage.
Fantastic job overall, so far!
Someone already said it but it does look a lot like Sportsman green used on 50-51 Fords. I like it!
Worth all the grunt work to see the cars personality emerging
Chrome frame ROCKS
Wow I like Black Primer as a rule but in the case of the Schroll what you did makes it look MEAN as hell. Great eye and payoff !!!
I was born in 1950 and that 1956 Mercury you showed happens to be my favorite all-time 50's car. We grew up with a 1956 Mercury Monarch here in Canada and it was Coral and white.
looking good that chrome window realy brings it out looks so much better
It is freakin awesome!! Love the green paint, especially with the numbers on the doors, please keep them!! I guess the tarp trapped moisture where it touched the body and made it more rustier.
Chartruce paint reveal is definitely a winner ,
I never thought there was that much green paint under the primer
wow! that was a lot of work, but it really paid off in spades. it was an eye catcher in it's day for sure. someone truly loved this rod, and i'll bet she's feeling fine after the love you're showing her now. 'bout brings a tear to my eye.
Just getting the rust and old primer off to bring the green out looks awesome.
Thank you , Matt for update on the 32 ! The paint color look nice and vintage ! I like it ! Take care , stay safe and healthy with whatever you maybe doing next ! Doing well here in Kansas .
WOW ! Looks great.Your apparent pashion to bring out and preserve the history of these cars is amazing
That definitely improved the look of the car, plus the chrome windshield frame. Very nice
Man this thing is sweet, making me want to scrape up the dough to build one for myself!
I am not a car guy; but I love watching competent people do their craft. I also history and the way you try to preserve it on these cars is fantastic. Thank you!
Thanks for following along!!
Perfect patina. Keep it like that
Whoa, that’s seriously wicked looking colour even in its current state.
Wow nice surprise revealing more secrets and history looking killer. She's in the best hands
Wow, what a great way to bring back the nostalgia of a car, you've revealed a perfect time capsule and I think it looks amazing, great job and I love the idea of blending the new work with the old to keep it looking like it should, hat tip to you Matt, can't wait to see more progress on this one
I really like the green look. Fits that car very well.
Does look good Matt. Coming right along. Hope to meet you soon young man.
Thanks Richard! Hope we cross paths some day!
You've given the coupe a lift by revealing that green,DD's speedshop- Mur - on the tri five s/w polishing to pull the paint colour tone, springs to mind.Keep the engine block dark green also.
That’s the plan! The interior, engine and body colors all will jive!
What a nice result, looks awesome! Greetings from Brazil!
Watching your builds makes me excited to get started on prewar cars !! I’ve always been a 50s car and truck guy but I got a 32 Ford roller and can’t wait to get building it !!
Awesome! Good luck with it!
Matt..imo this is one of your coolest cars ever. The paint is awesome.
The patina looks great with that chrome windshield frame Matt!
Wow love the green and the chrome windshield! Great idea rubbing that nasty black primer off.
Loving that patina green! Matte Clear and call it done!
Car looks awesome 👌 maybe somebody can identify the history of the car before larry had it from the green paint and lettering ? Gonna be a killer car well done matt
That made a huge difference in the attitude of the car.
(If Only.)
It is fantastic Matt. I know that was a lot of elbow grease but worth the time to unfold the history. Nice job buddy.
I dig that green man cant wait to see you tearing it up in this thing
I'm not a big patina guy but this car screams for it. Looks great just the way it is.
The color is so much better now and will be so realistic as a survivor Hot Rod from the fifties.
Now THAT is perfectly shitty! You're right on with the car's history, and I'm sure Larry would be stoked to see it now.
I can't imagine how much it would cost to replicate that beautiful patina. I love the hidden surprises on the doors. She will also look sweet when restored in that color.

great to see the old hand lettered drag paint on the doors.
Can't wait to see it cruisin' on the road to car shows.
Should be a trophy winner as awesome a job you do Matt.
That looks so friggin' cool like that. The splash of chrome really makes the car pop.
Looks much better than it did. That green is awesome.
Looks like a lot of work for a little green paint, but bringing back history. Thanks for the video, see you at Gilmore's on Saturday
Funny! Im whatching this like a boxing match. On the edge of my seat to see what is underneath! Love original shit
Very cool to reveal the old paint.
Looks great. After watching this, my arm and shoulder hurt.
Behold the power of "Elbow grease!". Lookin good.
Hi Matt! beautiful green that has emerged from the body! The steering wheel is just a color that is similar and looks really good.

Frickin' LOVE it!!! Seeing the A/G and numbers, omg, Very cool Matt!

you're my hero Matt, I want to be like you when I grow up.
Lookin' more like a ride, every day.
The green looks so much better
Looks awesome keep up the good work.
It just went from “l know what it is but man is it rough” to “what a cool old ‘32 coupe!”. That windshield just looked like death warmed over. Glad it made an exit.
I like it a lot.Old color remnants is killer. Old semi-shite chrome for window frame is superb. Waiting to see how you dress the firewall.
Love ❤️ it! That's the patina everyone is going for!
I like the part where( chrome may not get you home but it get you laid) LOL love the look
Haha glad you caught that!
Matt, that green paint looks BAAAAD ASS! Keep it just as it is brother!
Love the look! It changed the car completely. I am a shiny paint kind of guy, but I appreciate all styles. Keep up the good work.
The green looks cool. Very similar to the green painted on the insides of WW2 RAF planes.
Love the old green paint and patina
Love the green paint that was underneath. Maybe you can get some grove green mixed into a spray can and when patching rust or on the surface rusty parts dust that green on there and then distress it to match the old stuff. Man that old color character will look great! A lot of hand work but a nice result.
Love the green. Man what a surprise.
Mr.meogi would be proud young grasshopper.
Man that 32 got awesome patina!!!!
How cool is this!! The history man! Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Sweden 👋 (Nice article in Wheels mag. BTW.) 😁
Looks Rad, will be great to see it "polished up" once you've blended your rust repairs... I rub my rusty gold down with a product called Gibbs comes up real neat...
Looks fantastic! A couple of cans of clear coat...Done!
I went back to watch the first video. You got that car 15 minutes from my home DAMN!
Hey Matt,,,, try Easy-off oven cleaner for taking paint off. Works great. Leave on for 20-30 seconds, depending how thick the paint is
It’s a calico under that black, I’d love to drive it everywhere.
Wow love the "new" green machine. Awesome to see that great gasser class history peeking through again. How cool is that?!?
Perfect little victory! Looks so much cooler on screen now. Thanks guys
This looks sooo cooll! Wow, I would Just finish the repairs and shoot it with clear coat. However, that is just my opinion, I'm sure whatever plans you may have will come out great. Haha that’s so cool! A drag racer since you were a kid!
