Probably not. Ace bandages are extra effective (and extra dangerous for binding) because the elastic in them applies extra constriction around the body. Elastic wasn't around in the Revolutionary War.

Drunk History, I adore you! I’ve been waiting for this story for years! I’ve known about Deborah since my young, dorky, library perusing, biography reading, days as a kid. And Paget tells it sooooooo well! It twists me up inside when people say, “Why didn’t they teach this in school?!” Because, to be frank: anyone can read a book, teach themselves, and take control of their own knowledge - at any point in life. School’s not supposed to be the only place we learn, nor the last time we pick up a book. But for a lot of people, it is. And that both breaks my heart and feels incredibly annoying.
I seem to remember a story from the Revolution about a woman who took her fallen husband's place on the cannon crew. History is full of warrior women, from Anne Bonney to Joan of Arc.
