    One. Fix blade I bought two of is just a simple, cold, steel tanto machete. That thing feels so good in the hand, and I could imagine it being a tremendous ally in any situation. I have the O1 cold steel Trailmaster too. Love it.

    I recently bought a Cold Steel Laredo and Natchez in 3V. As a martial artist, these have been the best designed combat/dueling production knives I’ve gotten my hands on. They’re based on the Bill Bagwell concepts for combat, and they certainly live up to the reputation. I’d buy two of each just in case.

    Great choices.
    The Longhorn Bowie is Mumma Bear’s favorite knife.
    I could (maybe) pick my top seven knives…. But five of them would be TOPS knives 😎
    …maybe six.

    8:20 I couldn't agree more about the Trail Master. One doesn't know till you have actually handled and worked with one! Then you know! I have one (San Mai III version) and with that edge I'll probably never need to sharpen it in my lifetime! Also, unlike the ESEEs you mention, one needs to do zero work on it; it's all there exactly! It will do all one could want a large knife to do! All I need now is it's little sister, the CS SRK (sabre grind, CPM 3V version), then I'll be satisfied!
    However I did have a custom sheath made for me by Rob Evans (Wales) - I believe such a great knife deserved a better sheath (the CS one is a disgrace).

    • @Tomikai-zc5kb
      @Tomikai-zc5kb 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The edge will need to be touched up time to time , worksharp fieldsharp is my go too, my choice for many years was the Sam mai Recon Scout , was the best blade for large and medium chores in the Pacific Northwest.

    • @dennisleighton2812
      @dennisleighton2812 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Tomikai-zc5kb Yeah, I guess so. But, needing to "touched up" means it still has a decent workable edge for field work left on it, enough till you get bask to the workshop.

    Trail master from 20 years ago, had to buy 2 of each flavor. Luckily I lived close enough that I'd hit their annual parking lot clearance, got tons of good deals, ended up with multiples of most of their knives. I love Esee blades as well but don't love their coating on the carbon steel knives. It's so rough that it makes it difficult to cut anything, usually strip it off and acid patina blade myself or get the stainless/black oxide version.

    Nice collection, I do regret selling my cold steel trailmaster back in the 1990s.
    Regarding ESEE, I own 6 (ESEE Izula II, 3, 4, 6, Junglass and Junglass 11. Great knives, excellent customer service and a lifetime warranty!
    But, there are 2 issues that I have always had with their knives, the scales and not having 90-degree spines.
    For survival and/or bushcraft use, they all should have 90-degree spines.
    Remove the coating, force a patina, sharpen the spine and replace the scales from those sold by TKC and your good-to-go.

    For me it's the Buck 305 lancer, which I currently have 7 of with 4 more still on my list to check off.
    I'm not just collecting them either, 4 of the 305's I have were vintage NOS/ mint examples too with my most recent being pretty rare and every one of them has gone into right into my pocket.
    I don't care if it's rare and it took me 2 years to find one, it went right into my pocket.
    Next would be the Case 6208 half whittler which I currently have 3 of, I'd own far more if they did more than just 2 Carbon steel offerings.
    I can probably think of 5 others, like the 110 I have a couple of, the 102 woodsman I have a couple of, and a few others I have more than one of but for me when I really like a knife I tend to have more than 3 of them.
