When I was at the local muffler shop with my 2011 Tahoe. I tried with mufflers while on the lift. Sounded good. Tried with a louder muffler sounded better… then. I was like. Idk. I still want louder. The older guy that worked there who was working on something else yelled. The best muffler is no mufflers. I said you know what. Let’s try straight back from the cats. Started it up with straight pipes. I couldn’t stop grinning and even the mechanics all started grinning. “BEST MUFFLER IS NO MUFFLER”
If it still had the cats, it wasnt straightpiped though. Straighpiped just means theres nothing muffling sound after the headers, including cats or resonators

I got the super 40 and I left the resonator on sounds really good..... not even loud on the freeway and that's what I like but in town that's when you want it... But I got the 6.2...

Muffler delete is probably the nicest one here, cheap and simple and gives you what you want

I test drove an 09 in Tacoma last week that had exhaust headers, and probably an aftermarket muffler set up-loud and powerful! Headers looked natural and clean

@@304cortez85 We tow our travel trailer and I was getting a lot of sagging, so I installed Timbren GMRYS4 Suspension Enhancement System and Bilstein front and rear shocks, and the whole vehicle towing experience is much better, and you can do this from home yourself. Other than that I have put on the Continental Terrain Contact which is an AT tire and handles both on and off road very nicely.

I’m wanting to do a Borla ATAK crate muffler and delete the resonator on my 2016 Tahoe. But should I just have it dump before the bumper like the stock exhaust or put a tip on it? Does a tip have any effect on the sound?
Curious if the flowmaster 40 with the resonator left on has any cabin drone? I tried the Borla catback kit and the drone at 1700 rpm was unbearable. Had to go back to stock.

@@elzxhapo2411 depends on where you get the work done. Its simple, cut the pipe before the muffler and possible resonator, weld new pipe straight back or angled, then weld tip of your choice on. Shouldn't be more than $150 including black or chrome tip of your choice.

@@elzxhapo2411 I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure that straight pipe means removing the catalytic converter, which is illegal in most states. So that you will have to find out what the law is in your state or county.

Get vibrant 3 inch in, 3 inch out bottle style muffler 12 inches long. It will deepen the sound and greatly improve the drone.

The Magnaflow 14" Magnapack 14419 would be a better comparison.
what sucks about stock cats is how good they work as mufflers. You lose a lot of the crisp higher tones making the sound "muddy".
That second (newest) Tahoe with everything deleted sounded pretty cool but he may want to check up on his trans cuz that was a weird shift to second gear 😂

Anyone looking for exhaust for a 5.3 needs to check out Carven. Made in Southern California, 304L stainless, better quality than borla and corsa. I’ve got their TR series with resonator delete on my 2015 Sierra and it’s perfect, aggressive growl on cold start then mellows out to a nice deep tone ideal for a daily.

@@jonathanmassett8421 from what I've seen and heard on YT, with only an FX it would be really loud. I'm debating one as the muffler, still using the stock resonator. It would give it a nice tone, and not too loud.

I'm installing summit racings shorty headers (pacesetters) on a 2003 tahoe 5.3 L59 4x4, replacing clogged cats with gutted cats and will be running the 2 into 1 twice
So y pipe into backwards y pipe. 2 into 1, 1 back to 2 and will try it open and also try different things before welding it up. Message me or something and ill send you the sound clips/videos

Hey there! I'd like to ask you quick question, my friend just gave me a Flowmaster 943040, That's the 40 Delta flow. That one has the center in, center outlet. I noticed that most of the flowmasters for that particular truck (2007 tahoe) are offset intlet or outlet. Would the center in and out, fit without any issues? thanks!
From 07-13 the muffler shops install a offset Inlet and and offset outlet when it come down to mufflers.

None unless u do from motor back had 01 and put some many mufflers and cat Back systems even cats where swapped for high flow ones and nothing
What's an estimated price for these jobs. I'm one of those that takes my car to the dealer because I'm not married...yes I know I know they're taking my money. I have an '07 Tahoe and might need to change my exhaust system. I have 102, 000 miles as of now. Any advice? Btw I like my truck super quiet.

Quieter at higher rpms I think
just quiter at about 2000 to 2500 rpms and higher rpms it just acts as a straight pipe
it also has less droning sound and thats about it so i wont recommend removing it but its up to u
I’ve read you can get rid of the drone of you turn off that 4cyl feature.
Does this translate over to the LS 4.8 L vortec engine?
It most likely does sound the exact same. Only difference from the 5.3 is the larger stroke so the 4.8 might sound a little less throaty.
I can tell a 4.8 from a 5.3 all day long. Similarly can tekk a 6.0 from a 5.3, can pick out 5.7s from a Mile out. 4.8 actually has a slightly deeper tone from my experience and is happier than the 5.3 at above 5k rpm. Just my thoughts. I have a 4.8, 5.3 6.0 and 2 tbi 350 and 2 vortec 350. Slightyly Different personalities in all of them 👍🏻

I have a 2018 Silverado V6 with a 40 series but sounds like a Tacoma 😡 and just wanted to sound like a V8 should I put a super 10?
Unless you do headers it will be hard to get a v6 to sound like a v8. With headers it will sound deeper still not a v8 but close as you will get.

Glad I'm not the only 1 who noticed that... I'm very nervous allowing someone else qeld on my tahoe. Upgraded motor, today's headers are going on and then to muffler shop. I REALLY want to do it myself so I know its welded correctly. Swear if I get it bk and it has bird shit, I will be showing my ass!!

Josh7120 it's not really a "build" if you're just picking parts like a spoiled fstass at the icecream truck and having a shop put them on while you sniff your fingers and scratch your ass is it? So good at welding but wont weld your own exhaust, downright preposterous, a true dumbing down, is this amateur hour?
