Nice CN L571 mixed freight train in cedar falls Iowa and nice Iowa traction railroad and yard actions in mason city Iowa great UP local train in manly Iowa good work red 👍😎
Thanks for the video today, Red! I enjoyed the variety of rail lines and locations, and I'm always up for rail yards. I think it's awesome to see the trains getting put together! Hopefully, you'll have another of your fabulous posts next week. Until then, please be careful out there, and we'll chat then. 😃😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤❤
I watched a video from Indiana earlier today.........and just a few cars behind the engines (NS) were 4 CNW GREEN covered hoppers, still with the logo and lettering😀😀❗❗
My experience with the IATR has been that they get their work done in the morning. I've seen them working at 8 or 9 in the morning, just drive along the railroad looking for active locomotives. Fun stuff to watch for sure!
The CP has a very well manicured yard in Mason City. Spine line through Manly was shared with the M&StL and the Rock Island and eventually the CNW and eventually the UP between Albert Lea, MN and Mason City.
Another awesome video Red, a man you stay safe out there and watch your back because with all the crap going on right now in the United States, you don’t never know what’s gonna happen and we’ll see you on the next one
Great action today even if iowa traction wasnt running. I see it in action some times but dont video it. Good seeing the iowa nothern in action. Have family in manly. Great spot to video. I droned there once when i had my spark but it couldnt be far away from me. Thanks Red.
@davidsnider1703 You're welcome David S! Yes Manly looks to be a busy spot at times. Hard to say what CN will do with that Iowa Northern collection of old equipment.
Nice catch of the Canadian National's L571 crossing the Cedar River in Cedar Falls, Iowa and moving along the Cedar River on its way west. You caught an idle Iowa Traction Railroad engine in Mason City, Iowa. Jaw Tooth has some videos of the Iowa Traction in action. The old Milwaukee Road, now CPKC Railroad yard in Mason City, Iowa was interesting to see. I enjoyed watching the Iowa Northern engines switching in their railroad's yard in Manly, Iowa. The Union Pacific train on the Spine Lie was a bonus. (Posted on 24 September 2024 at 1749 CDT.)
@charleshagenbuch6078 One of the nicer turn tables I've seen. That one in Manly should probably be drained for safety reasons. Definitely a nice roundhouse set up.
The CN sure was moving along there and that train did not have much variety today. Some brand new covered hoppers near the rear while near the front we're 6 old Hoppers and woodchip cars for picking up old ties. Some of those River Islands finally reappearing after such a wet spring. Those fine Iowa Traction electrics look great and to see them working with all those new Freight cars. The biggest kick I get is seeing a center beam Lumber car with IATR reporting marks loaded with New Brunswick sticks on the CSX in Upstate New York. To think that yard in Mason City in under 40 years has been MILW. IMRL. ICE. SOO. CP. CPKC The weight and volume of the grain and ethanol apparently warrant the rebuilt SD40. Always good to see Manly Yard busy and the UP trio of GPs a pleasant variation from the usual High horsepower. Sure hope something constructive happens with that older power sitting at the edge of the yard
@paulbergen9114 Yes Paul not a real noteworthy train on the CN that day. We are back to very dry conditions again, but the farmers got the rain when they needed it. Those old RI/CNW units would be great to rebuild. Maybe enough parts to make one good one. That turntable in Manly looked like a miniature swamp!
Hello Red, this very long CN freight train is great, these electric locomotives from IOWA Traction are interesting. Are these locomotives still in use? The flight over the CPKC Railyard, where a CP and diesel locomotives from Iowa Northern are shunting, is very nice. The freight train from UP with three GP at the front of the train is fantastic. Many thanks for the great video and best wishes to IOWA. Wolfgang
@wolfgangpfeilergartenbahnd6530 Hey Wolfgang, you're welcome! Yes the ITR electric locos are still used. I haven't caught them in action yet. That was a pretty tidy yard at the CPKC👍
26:30 If CN succeeds in buying out IANR, those F-units in that gorgeous ROCK scheme will be goodbye withing a month. Shuttling bigwigs in Toronto who couldn't care less about Iowa.
Nice CN L571 mixed freight train in cedar falls Iowa and nice Iowa traction railroad and yard actions in mason city Iowa great UP local train in manly Iowa good work red 👍😎
@Diegoiowa Thanks Diego!
Those are really neat looking Iowa Traction locomotives, Red! Thanks for showing them. 😃😃😃❤❤❤
I love the shot of the CN mixed manifest rolling along beside the river, my friend! 😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the shot of the yard. 😃😃😃❤❤❤

The short UP mostly tanker train was good, too. There were a few covered hoppers, but not many. 😃😃😃❤❤❤

@redsiowatrainvideos6645 I've wondered that too. And the slugs. I suppose they could repaint them or just leave them the same
Good work Red. Looks like a couple of F-units parked in the Manly yard at 26:23.
@fredtrench5684 Thanks Fred! Yep some classics up there👍
Dang, wish I would’ve known you were in town here in Mason City. Would have given you the red carpet tour of town…next time.
@UP5491 Yes Chad a tour would be cool. Plenty going on around there👍

@thomasmackowiak Thanks Thomas! That Manly yard has some great classic stuff. Be nice to see one of those CNW units restored👍
One track on a nice Mason City turntable?
A flooded turntable with nice old split roundhouse at Manly!
@charleshagenbuch6078 One of the nicer turn tables I've seen. That one in Manly should probably be drained for safety reasons. Definitely a nice roundhouse set up.
Sure looked like a wunnerful day for Drone Time. Refreshing to see no graffiti on the last section of grain cars.

How far from Cedar Rapids does the Cedar River meet the Mississippi? 🙂🙂
@@garymiller5937 Probly around 80 miles or so.
@@redsiowatrainvideos6645 Thanks for the information, Red! 😃😃❤️❤️
A lot more happens in the Manly rail yard than in the town 😎
🚂😎👍🚂
I hate to see the Iowa Northern be absorbed by another rail line. They have such great looking power! ☹️☹️

@davidschick6951 That would be too bad. The CNW stuff has been there quite awhile.
